one thing i always really loved about the way christian designed frida is the way he had them take up traits and abilities from the people around them. frida meets deanna and she becomes their first friend and christian marks this by giving frida a level in cleric. frida becomes close with imogen and to mark this christian has them take the telepathy feat the next time they level up. frida starts to look up to chetney and to mark this christian picks up the plot point of frida getting the bite and decides that yes, despite the fact that it shouldn't work, frida is indeed a werewolf now.

frida is a character who was literally built for a purpose, even though said purpose is nebulous and unknowable to them, but instead of being singular or rigid, frida is incredibly varied and malleable; and that malleability comes from the love they find in the people around them. they were built (presumably) for war and battle, but they are made by love. it's just so lovely. ❤

So much I could say about these three #and so much I could say about their relationship / interactions with Cucurucho and Osito Bimbo #Cards on the table... I really would have loved it if Cucurucho / Osito genuinely cared about Jaiden #I mean I know they DID care about her to some extent that much is clear #But they / the Federation were also ABSOLUTELY using her. I'm not arguing that they weren't #But how could anyone not be charmed by Jaiden? The boba the tea parties the head pats–#The empathy and kindness and everything that made q!Jaiden who she was–#Cucurucho and Osito were tools of the Federation but I do want to believe they cared about Jaiden. Albeit in their own fricked up way #I dunno. I know this sounds like massive copium probably but I watched all of her and Roier's streams interacting with them #and I personally think that conflict and duality makes for a more interesting story #But that's just me and my own personal biases. I dunno how to properly put it into words but I am cradling them all close to my heart #I loved Cucurucho / Osito and I thought they were interesting and I'm SO SAD we'll never know what Jaiden did for them in the past #Anyways. just saw an article saying that the bard’s lament was spur-of-the-moment and that’s part of the reason they didn’t include it in the animated show. lmao. yeah it was super impulsive and that’s why sam had a second character locked and loaded and ready to go in the same episode

#this is something i’ve been seeing a fair amount of tho where it’s like #i feel like there’s still a fundamental misunderstanding of Why He Left #and viewing it as a story move sam came to regret because it caught everyone else so off guard #but imo that’s why it worked so well #and in game. no one was objectively right either. and that’s why it works #i understand that they didn’t have time for that mess on screen. and also it would have been different if pike was there #i feel like i keep coming back to that but it’s a really good point #but i also think it was a very strong narrative move in the stream #and a shrewd move on sam’s part #idk like i like interpersonal drama but i can see how it’s controversial that they didn’t talk it over as a table beforehand #but i also love how scanlan got his own ‘it’s not all goof goof dildo. i’m multidimensional!!’ moment lol #mine #critical role #tlovm spoilers

what happened with sherlock is that we were all like “it’s 2014 you cannot possibly be using early 2000s queer coding without following through on it we simply don’t live in those times any more” but everyone involved lived in the UK where they are always at least 7 years behind culturally and they genuinely were living in those times.
