my tips for students that struggle with consistency

I remembered another one.

In university I was part of the. Hmh. I'm not actually aware of an english translation. Student Council, kind of? An elected group that represents the interests of the degree program against the academy, and organises the trips and studycations, makes sure the "culture" of the degree stays alive between years, ensures knowledge and old exams and software flows from older years to youngers.

This is relevant insofar as that we get keys to the buildings. Every year we organized a tour through the city for the new arrivals, showed them the bars and landmarks and whatnot. In one of my first ones, we were accompanied by an older member that wasn't really actively part of the group anymore, but she still got called in to help out sometimes. She was extremely my type so of course I chatted her up, we hang out throughout the evening as I was shepherding the drunk new students around the city, since she was just there to say something to the landmarks she got increasingly sloshed and affectionate. For the last few stops I was making my announcements while carrying her piggyback.

Eventually we got back to the campus and the party started in earnest back in our cellar. Eventually that got too loud, so a few of us unlocked the ceiling trapdoor and chilled on the couches we set up there. Including she and I.

I was sitting on the couch properly, she had her head in my lap, and was staring up at the stars and me. I had one hand on her throat, and the other idly playing with her hair, while I was talking to the other folks that were there. Her phone starts ringing, she answers it, and in a notably annoyed tone of voice answers it and very quickly gets done with the call, mostly about when she'll be home. She said she doesn't know yet. I asked her who that was, and she said her boyfriend. It took a decent amount of restraint to not choke her then and there, given where my hand was, and to this day I think she was disappointed that I didn't.

Over the next two years when we went to to bars she would sit in my lap, and one notable time made her boyfriend drive her to a christmas market definitely-not-date with me. I waved at him through the windshield.

Other than the usual light groping and grinding and kissing that's par for the course in a bar, we never actually did anything more serious. She tried staying in contact when I changed degrees, but I forgot to reply, and then forgot about her for a while, and it felt too awkward to resume. I heard from a friend of a friend that they broke up two months after I stopped talking to her. To my knowledge I was the only one she behaved that way with.

She was very short and her hair always smelled amazing. I love long hair. She sucked at boardgames though. (The student bar we drank at most often had a lot of boardgames.)

Hi! I’m still alive! Yesterday and today were really the days of studycation where I’m still having fun but I’m starting to miss home and my bed and friends.

Here are some scatterbrained updates about writing school:

I got my advisor for this semester! She and I are going to have a lot of fun together, I think. She is committed to helping me develop a neurodivergent-friendly writing process.

I… actually managed to outline the first draft of my critical thesis? Yay! I’m not going to go into all the depth here but please let me know if you want to hear about how to use a restorative conversation framework for exploring interpersonal conflicts in YA books, and how that translates into writing craft elements. I think I will be using Darius the Great is Not Okay as one of my mentor texts as well as a few others.

I am probably going to try writing a picture book again this semester, if only so I can practice writing a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. I might focus a little on Washington DC history.

My generative workshop this time around is very witchy in a good way. We are basically channeling our characters and figure out their voices and how to tell their stories. I mean. That’s not quite what we’re doing but does kinda feel like what we’re doing.

What’s been going on in my absence? Any new developments in The Fandom(TM)?

I’m having so much fun but also my brain is overloaded. Maybe I’ll post some pictures of plush Sara exploring our little mountain cabin later.

Its been 6months+.

I no longer woke up, looking at my dry phone, feeling the ache of loneliness and anxiety. No texts from friends nor anybody. I am ready to take another round of sleep, or scrolling tru my tiktok and twitter, adding items into shopee cart, and checking bar council’s vacancy, until i am ready to take shower and start the day at 1.30pm. Depends on my mood and seri kembangan’s weather.

I am grateful. That i sleep without having to check any man’s phone. That i sleep knowing girls my age are getting pregnant but i m just chilling. That i sleep knowing i do not have to fear any man is cheating on me. That i sleep knowing i spent my money on myself and not on dates.

How privilege i am to get to worry about unemployment. Thinking that some, might having to worry about their cancer treatments, cheating husband, hubungan tanpa status (hts), family’s financial crisis. I m still living under my parents’ mercy. I m basically still — a baby.

Ive been marathon-ing kdramas and romcoms. I love rewatching my childhood kdramas. Tbh i dont know whats the latest kdrama on hit. I just rewatched whatever i found enjoyable to watch during my childhood days — Doctor strangers, extraordinary attorney woo, my love from the stars. I m planning to rewatch To The Beautiful You or Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. Watching sambil makan ramen cheese. It would remind me the good old days masa studycation dengan genk dsla haha. So lagha of me.

I dont have ibadah targets anymore on this ramadhan, like i used to before. I only have one, which is, to consistently terawikh at surau. Yea i lost hope in life. So i hope being in majlis ilmu, would at least help me to collect some pahala.

The thoughts of boys no longer linger my mind. Day by day, i always think about eating sukiya or jukgaejang Dobuyo or yakiniku from sukiya bowl, or Beef Teppan set from Nippon Sushi. I am thinking about going there alone, since i am unemployed, i have the privilege of time. So unfortunate my unemployment starts on ramadhan. But fortunately i got to savor my mom’s cookings every single day.

Someday, I’ll wait for an announcement from my local badminton community about open slots for a game on weekend. What a refreshing and productive way to fulfil a weekend. Someday i would just wait if any my friends would invite me to any of their plans.

Yea i cant complain much. Ini ke yang dinamakan tenang?

08.12.19 Studycation Day 37/78: Today I woke up, worked out (cardio), did the dishes, wrote a post about how to be successful in Uni with ADHD which I will publish tomorrow, and studied biology for about 4 hours.

Plush Sara and I have made it to the airport from which we will drive to our final destination! Now we’re going to have to kill time for 1.5-2 hours until our friend can pick us up for our studycation.

Btw the airport abbreviation here is CLT. I’m being about as mature about it as you’d expect.
