Ive wanted to do cool fun youtube commentary videos for years but ive never really had the motivation to do all that especially since im so unknown by most of the creators community; but if one thing has particularly gave me great interest- it's this strange little phenomenon that I too have and will continue to participate in but much more...carefully moving forward.

Its something im still tryina figure out a name for but as of now im calling "Frankenstein's-inspo", which is The act Of;

"Media by creators who have taken a liking to one or more other inspiration-facets and decide to add them to their work without examining why it worked in the original beyond "its cool". (To a lesser extent, this also can include medias that while not overtly taking from other sources, also still has a mismatched issue of tone, tropes and plot ideas that they arent willing to part with to make a coherent story. However these issues are also frequently prevalent in the first.)

Now I know this, because its me- sort of. I am someone who takes pride in taking inspirations and soaking it in! Nothing inherently wrong with doing it. But I take heed nowadays with how it can be implimented very poorly. Key Examples being Rwby, Yandere simulator, High Guardian Spice, and to a lesser extent but still notable Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel.

I implore you guys to check out Hbomberguy's video on Rwby as a great example of this! Its a long watch but its a fantastic one and implore you to dive into it!

honestly the moment i stopped thinking about asoiaf as trying to be historical fiction and realized that grrm still writes like a scifi writer, my understanding of how everything in the series works meta-wise improved significantly.

like think about it. scifi as a genre is about making criticisms of current modern culture, but placed in a futuristic time period in order to take modern concepts and take them to their most extreme examples in order to emphasize them & say something about them. is a song of ice and fire not doing the same thing of taking modern criticisms and placing them in a different time period, just backwards in time instead of forwards?

yes a huge amount isn't historically accurate, but he isn't trying to be. he's making commentary on modern society with a veneer of the medieval!

MC isn't a Pillar of Ash phoenix! When their wings were cut off and they stopped using their powers, that presence of "mythosi blood" within them weakened, making them more human that mythosi, so there wasn't really enough "phoenix" in them at that point to be concerned about becoming a Pillar of Ash.

However, once MC gets their powers back and is back to being their normal, half-mythosi self... well, we'll just have to see! But yes, when phoenixes become part of the Pillar of Ash, they, quite literally, begin crumbling.

i mean, full disclosure: i do genuinely think “i love animal products ❤️ they’re biodegradable” is kind of antivegan cope because, you know, no one ever seems to be talking about natural plant fibers versus synthetics in these contexts— despite the fact that, on average, they comprise significantly more of your wardrobe and significantly more of your short-term, short-life garments— but also, and more importantly: i do not know what kind of beautiful little production chain is being imagined here, but the idea that you go from sheep or cow or so on to your wardrobe to the compost heap to fresh soil in 5-15 years, zero environmental impact, is really out of touch with most factors of consumption. leather for example can be biodegradable, but a lot of processed leather takes significantly longer to decompose— not as long as pvc, but longer than you use it for— due to the nature of its treatment. if you buy leather goods you are virtually never buying untreated leather; tanning is a chemical process with pretty significant environmental consequences. if you are getting for example a wool coat, the odds that you can afford a 100% wool coat as opposed to a wool-synthetic blend are pretty low; same with sweaters. so maybe you thrift a leather jacket or a vintage 100% wool sweater and get some use out of it. you buy a pair of leather shoes and feel good about it. hey, their treatment and soles probably biodegrade too right? and without any lasting impacts on the environment? and maybe you overcorrect for “vegan item!!” fast fashion greenwashing and end up with items which are pretty much exactly as non-biodegradable as their plastic equivalents, and exactly as short-lived because the quality of low-budget manufacturing these days seems to be constantly getting worse.

i don’t mean to scaremonger or whatever— there really isn’t much of a way out of this unless you have some serious cash to spend. but the idea of a totemic Ecologically Good category of material is obviously out of touch with how most people in the world get their clothes and loudly praising a product which is not actually in practice guaranteed to be better than its plastic substitute is oddly common on this website. cmon there isn’t even a character limit. there’s space to actually say something useful

I'm going to blow a fucking fuse. 3 years ago I got my chiari diagnosis after having had symptoms my entire life and running from doctor to doctor and just being a very ill child in general. 21 years of running around with an undiagnosed CONGENITAL illness despite having had multiple MRIs and other stuff done over the years. And no it's not because Chiari is so rare and they didn't know what it was, as it turned out later, because it was visible on my mri IT'S BECAUSE THE FUCKING RADIOLOGIST OR NEUROLOGIST DIDN'T DREAM TO MENTION IT and decided to discharge me with depression instead. Because that's an easy diagnosis to give someone with headaches in combination with symptoms you don't understand. And if that's not already enough!! when the talks about my first surgery started, once I found a specialist for chiari here, a bunch of new mris were done and we sat down and talked about my head and my entire spine for hours on end and my neurologist at the time said 'oh and you have mild scoliosis but it's fine everyone has scoliosis' and I believed her because I didn't know any better and I expected her to do her fucking job!!!!! Well turns out it's not mild and it's not normal and perhaps if you're a SPECIALIST FOR A CHRONIC ILLNESS YOU SHOULD TELL THAT PATIENT ABOUT ANY FUCKING COMORBIDITIES YOU FUCKING CUNT

So I heard that Tumblr is slowly being abandoned (they seem to be laying off a majority of their staff and keeping a skeleton crew) and we might be nearing the end of this webbed site. I don't think it's currently worth panicking over, but I'm definitely going to start making that neocities website.

I'll make a post soon about other places where you can find me. Unfortunately, I've spent quite some time these last couple years getting rid of a majority of my social media because most platforms were bad for my mental health. I do not plan on going back to these platforms, so if tumblr goes down, I'm going to be only on non social media.

Maybe if one of the new social medias being created, actually take off (like bluesky or pillowfort or whatever else these days) I might join, but if not I might be entirely on personal websites, patreon (I will start posting regularly like a blog and make more free posts), some old websites I deleted but not because I hated them (such as ko-fi, which I deleted due to inactivity) and possibly furaffinity. I'm still on the fence about furaffinity. I might also finally start using my toyhouse but that is an oc sharing website and not much of an art sharing website.

I really do hope Tumblr doesn't go down, this is my one social media and if it does go down I am going to lose nearly all of my audience. I can make do by creating a personal blog and using whatever I have left in terms of "can post my art there and people can find me", and it won't discourage me from making my personal projects. I can make do, and I will make do, but I don't really want to make do.

Anyways, that's all I have to say right now, I'll make a post later once I set up some alternative sites to find me at, but for now I want to give the heads up that if I'm gone, you're not gonna find me on twitter, Instagram, or whatever third option there is. I'm likely going to just make do, be offline more, and likely just become active on the discord servers I'm on.

something I've been thinking about lately. i do think it's incredibly telling that almost 80 percent of the conversations around 'gatekeeping' and 'posers' and shit end up just becoming vitriolic hatred of 'alt girls' like i hate shit spotify playlists and dollskill fake leather edge and tiktok recommendations as much as the next person but this is a very big attitude coming from a website full of people who spent their formative middle school years shopping at hot topic for multi-colored skinny jeans while listening to like. falling in reverse or 21p unironically (this is a self-own btw). first of all teenagers having shit taste isn't killing punk music. but also why is the object of your hatred always boil down to a woman faking it? as if it isn't the single oldest stereotype in heavy music? like am i insane for thinking this is an issue
