PROGETTO INTERNAZIONALE DI POESIA VISIVA E ARTE POSTALE/ INTERNATIONAL PROJECT OF VISUAL POETRY AND MAIL ART

“ T R E D I C I “

Il 13 Gennaio 1995, l’artista americano RAY JOHNSON si tolse la vita, lanciandosi da un vecchio ponte a Sag Harbor (New York). La sua morte è ancora un mistero, in quanto questa sua inaspettata, dolorosa e decisiva scelta coinvolse in vari aspetti il numero 13, tanto da far pensare - a chi “studiò” la sua azione suicida - che RAY JOHNSON avesse avuto l’intenzione di fare l’ultima sua “performance”:

13 Gennaio – Ray Johnson ha 67 anni (6+7 = 13) – a Sag Harbor, la stanza al Baron’s Cove Inn prenotata in precedenza, ha il n. 247 (2+4+7 = 13) – poi si dirige al ponte alle ore 13…un vero puzzle Addirittura artisti e critici d’arte che lo conoscevano bene affermarono “Bel colpo per la sua carriera”! E il titolo di un articolo apparso su un giornale di New York fu: LA MORTE COME UN’OPERA D’ARTE!

Quindi TREDICI!

Il numero Tredici karmico è legato alla morte, alla trasformazione, alla rinascita e al cambiamento. Il numero 13 può significare la nostra rinnovata passione e motivazione. Ma, al contrario, il numero Tredici puo’ indicare la rottura dell'armonia, incarnando il disordine, l'instabilità e l'incertezza...Il Tredici karmico simboleggia inoltre il bisogno innato di apprendere la disciplina. Inoltre, il Tredici si erge a simbolo del corretto modo di superare qualsiasi tipo di difficoltà.

Forse proprio questo piaceva a RAY, riconoscendosi e riconoscendo nel network mailartistico – di cui era “padre” - la sua bellissima incoerenza con la quale probabilmente ha voluto “salutare” la sua vita e tutti noi.
