i can't even imagine the PANIC that snow felt when katniss sang the meadow song BUT especially the hanging tree

he is one of the very few people (other than lucy grey herself) who has heard this song and, the only one alive. and of course he didn't know the full extent of maude ivorys talent of memorizing music so of course his first thought is that lucy is alive or was, which means his crimes, short comings and the one of two witnesses to any rebel behavior he has ever shown was alive at some point and could spread that word, also he just despises lucy gray and anything similar to her so the idea that she was alive, had a family and kids and generations of family to follow is simply an infuriating and horrifying idea to him .

i fully believe that the simply reason that snow hated katniss from the start is because of fact that everything reminds him of lucy. but the mockingjay pin ESPECIALLY the mockingjay pin made him hate her, the meadow song just solidified that.

its also so funny because it was such a personal fight to snow, when katniss new nothing of it, NOBODY new anything about it. lucy is faint memory in the oldest of old in the district twelve population, one day some old man will have a memory of a teenage girl that used to sing at the hob, and mabey they'll connect the memory of a girl who sang at the reaping, but other than that lucy is a forgotten person who hasn't been thought of in years by anyone, again, other that older people and people who might have a faint memory as a child going to the zoo to go see the tributes and give them food, and a faint memory of a girl who sang to some snakes, but other than that, Lucy Gray Baird is a ghost that haunts Snow and Snow only. a girl that he see's in every song bird and snake, in every district twelve girl that is reaped, in every song , in every face, that although she is gone and he is safe he is still tooken down by a girl named after a root that grows in district twelve, one that is burned in his memory and his memory of Lucy Gray, that is called the mockingjay, a bird that he despises but was a personal favorite of Lucy Gray. Katniss is the revenge of Lucy Gray and she dosen't even know it, only Snow does.

So a friend dragged me to see SKINAMARINK today. Loved it. Loved the cinematography and the other artistic choices were brilliant.

But.

This is a PSA trigger warning. I don't know how intentionally it was, since it's a artsy film and the intentions aren't supposed to be clear, but I found myself in tears are nearly having to leave the theater at points. The film very effectively demonstrates the feelings of being a child in a traumatic home. Be it abuse, or some other horrific reality, it's very triggering if you grew up feeling unsafe in your childhood home.

I ended up sticking it out because I wanted the see the ending and I personally found the last third much less distressing, but if you have a history and want to see it, go in prepared.
