good morning everyone I’m thinking about Steve being so so gentle and sweet with Eddie before he even realizes he likes him… I’m talking about he always tugs Eddie’s wrist to guide him to the inside of the sidewalk so Steve’s closer to the street, without even breaking stride or conversation. It confuses the hell out of Eddie, just shy of to where he’d actually interrupt what Steve is saying to ask Steve why he did it…… I’m talking about Steve also always waives Eddie’s late video rental fees without saying a word about it. and really, Eddie was kind of wondering how he’d gotten away with keeping that one tape an extra week and a half without reprimand from the Family Video gods, although it isn’t until after he and Steve start dating and he gets to be behind the counter while Keith’s not there that Eddie sees Steve deleting the fees himself and realizes what he’s been doing this whole time. When Eddie finally asks Steve about it, he’s a total deer in headlights and then Steve just starts laughing cause it took him so long to see it, himself.

Like, imagine Steve starts carrying scrunchies on his wrist, and sure they could be for Robin or for Max or even Nancy, but somehow whenever Steve finds himself out of scrunchies again it’s Eddie who’s commandeered all of them. They’re on his wrists, and in his van’s cupholders, and in his hair, of course, and Steve has never once asked for one back. He tells himself he’s just being a thoughtful friend, pretends it doesn’t do something funny to his heart when he sees Eddie with his hair pulled back, hunched over a little D&D figurine or working on a song… Maybe he finds himself picking out ones that he knows specifically that Eddie will like: reds and blacks, silver, the rare deep brown satin scrunchie that Steve gets because it matches his eyes—
