on this late night i am thinking incredibly hard about how, when faced with a choice between preventing a new friend from harm + clearing up a misunderstanding and choosing the path that would potentially find him a cure for his catatonic friend, zack recalled marlene's words of saying that aerith liked cloud, and of course she did, because he (zack) wasn't there. hadn't been there for a long time
and after recalling these words and grasping at the ribbon tied around his hand, zack ultimately decides that by taking the right-hand path he can, with some luck, fulfill two of his own desires - 1) potentially seeing his friend cloud healed and healthily awake again, and 2) making sure that aerith will be able to be happy when she wakes if he succeeds the first part. he has not and will not let go of his adoration and love for her, but if cloud is seemingly what makes her happy in this bizarre world he's found himself in, he'll choose that option in a heartbeat, because her happiness means the world to him even if it means accepting that he's not the focus of it anymore. he just loves her so much . oh i'm in pain. zack fair the man that you are

YALLLL I WAS READING A GENOSAI WING FIC AND GOT AN IDEA
A Wings AU where everyone has wings best suited to their strengths.
Genos has metallic wings—feathers as sharp as blades and 14ft wide full spread. They're flexible, easy to use in combat and durable. Prior to becoming a cyborg, they were blond-yellow with blue tips on each feather. Blue for loyalty, trust, security and responsibility. Yellow for intellect, warmth, energy.
Saitama's wings are hidden away a majority of the time, an anomaly to most, if not every, person who's seen him, because hiding your wings was a sign of shame. Not taking care of them was practical harm to oneself, not showing them was seen as self-loathing. However, because he can't really get hurt, all there is is silent self-hatred, but he plays that off too, so everyone is aways confused about why he hides them.
It isn't until well into their relationship (whether platonic or romantic), and Genos asks him about it, that Saitama confesses why. Genos doesn't understand why Saitama dislikes his own wings (especially because Saitama hasn't described them at all other than the fact they "said the opposite of what he truly is".)
But, one day, in the middle of some battle—it could be high-tense or everyday bland—Genos is about to get his body destroyed. Saitama had just gotten a civillian out of the way when it attacked. So he had to think of something quick.
And before Genos knows it, something somes between himself and the attacker, shielding him without fail. A wing of gold.
A shiny gold—elegant and downright gorgeous gold and a breathtaking display of prestige, success, wealth, and prosperity. It shines brilliantly in the sun, outstretched in all it's beautiful glory. Civillians and the few heroes also around gasp in shock and awe as it stretches in an unabashed display.
Saitama used to hate these golden wings, because he believed his wings expressed the opposite of what he as a person does, and showcasing them to people would've been lying to them. People praised his wings to the moon and back, treated him with respect. To his face. Behind his back, he was shamed for "acting better than he probably was", shamed for an ego people acted like he had when really he used to be shy. He thought, just like everyone else, that it meant money and popularity and never, unlike Genos upon seeing them for the first time, syopped to consider it was meant to be showcasing his compassion. His positive influence on those he helped and the richness of kindness and goodness that he showed without hesitation.
