"Kuina's death is ridiculous" yes! That's the point! You do realize that falling down the stairs is a way of showing Zoro how fragile human lives are, right? You are aware that the point of Kuina's character is the unfairness of the world towards women in comparison to the privileges men have, like living in itself and fulfilling their dreams, right? You know that Kuina's death is "ridiculous and dumb" because it's meant to show that even the strongest person Zoro knew could die from something so little, right? You understand that the value Zoro gives to life is fucking immense, right? Right?? You realize Zoro can't seek revenge because nobody took her away from him and now the only thing he can do is become the world's greatest swordsman to avenge her death, right? You get that Zoro's character is an atheist because he doesn't believe in anyone and he can only rely on himself when it comes to Kuina's sudden death, right? You are aware that sometimes people die in the simplest of ways and that doesn't make them weak because death doesn't discriminate, right? You know that all of these things are what make Zoro's character so interesting and important, right? Right??? You know, right?
Well, of course you fucking don't because if you knew you wouldn't be saying her death is ridiculous <3

The thing about Nathan Ford is that he is just so very mediocre.
Yeah he's smart or whatever, but despite Leverage really trying to push him as a leading man, he is just Some Guy. He is so startlingly average in every single way, partially due to Timothy Huttons 'Guy who just woke up' looks and partially because his top character traits are: alcoholic, kind of an asshole, divorced, and Plays Chess
He's the most Guy I've ever seen in my life. Truly just unremarkable. His name is Nathan for gods' sakes

#im gonna fucking throw up lancer's relationship with all of the fun gang is literally so important to me#hes gone his whole life surrounded by people but so incredibly alone for a multitude of reasons NONE of which are his fault#every grown ass adult in that castle knew he was suffering but did NOTHING about it#so to see these teenagers (OTHER KIDS) not only take him under their wing and include him whenever possible#but also stand up and say 'NO. no you will NOT get away with that' when his shithead dad abuses him#going so far as to put their own asses on the line for him because they fucking care#and lancer loves them back!!! hes saved the fun gang's asses twice in as many chapters#the first instance being when he did something he's NEVER done before and took up hands against his dad#the affection in his dialogue when he talks about kris and susie and ralsei#calls them all funny nicknames and says that he misses them...#shaking and crying and throwing up and falling down thr stairs and astral projecting#im so so os so so normal about these characters i promise#deltarune

nightcord is about mental health but also what heavily affects it - the upbringing. you have 2 characters at complete diffrent ends of the spectrum - kanade who was unconditionally loved by her parents, who supported her interests and loved her no matter what; and mafuyu, who has a parent who doesnt give a shit about her interests or what she likes, only about what they want for her.
you really see an effect of that - kanade heavily echoes the love her parents gave her. she loves and loves and by god does she love. she emits so much love and care to the poeple close to her, especially mafuyu, that the only way i can describe this is motherly. not in the sense that kanade babies mafuyu but that she unconditionally loves her no matter what. even at mafuyu's lowest points she was there for her. no matter what mafuyu said or did she was always there to say "mafuyu im here for you. mafuyu i care about you. mafuyu ill help you find yourself no matter what.".
And seeing what kanade grew up with its heartbreaking for her to find out how mafuyu's parents really are. before speaking to mafuyu's mother she was determined that maybe she has to just tell her what mafuyu's she'll change her mind. maybe if she tells the truth she'll change her mind. maybe, maybe, maybe. when she finally speaks to her and finds out how mafumom really is its heartbreaking for her to fully realize what mafuyu was going through. its terrible to see that kanade got a taste of the trauma that mafuyu experienced. it really shakes her world view - not that she's innocent but that parents, compared to hers, can be so terrible and unloving. it boggles her mind that parents who are supposed to unconditionally love and support their child, be there for them no matter what, can be this terrible.
its immensely interesting to see these 2 perspectives clash and what kind of effect kanade and mafuyu have om eachother with these diffrent pasts
