one day a show will have a couple not get married. like, they will talk about it, they’ll probably fight about it, too, you know, for the drama, and then when there’s a tragedy that ultimately ends the fight, they’ll decide not to get married. instead, with all the money they’re not spending on a wedding, they’ll do a cool trip, or buy a new couch, or give to charity, or fucking invest in something or whatever. and they’ll live happily ever after, or they won’t, whatever, but not once will they fucking talk about marrying again.

As promised, my commentary on Hunter.... to the people that like him, im sorry.

Spoiler warnings and the like, this is pretty negative aside from like maybe three sentences?? Feel free to leave you're own opinions on this too ofc !!! >:)

I dont like Hunter.

Actually, that's not entirely true, I liked him in TCW season 7, when he was that silly man who fucked droids around the place, took no shit, and loved his brothers. I like the Hunter who, not putting this nicely, had a personality.

This is not a dig on him as a character, it's a dig on how he was handled, writing wise

Listen, I totally get that the "rugged-man-adopts-a-star-child" trope is popular, and I do LOVE that trope, really I do- I just don't really think it was done that well here? It's bothered me since s1 of the Bad Batch, and I don't think it's going to get any better this season....

My only real problem with the writing inconsistency of Hunter being an older brother of three to "Omega this, Omega that" and while I agree childcare is SUPER difficult at the best of times, Hunter had four brothers who were equally capable of taking care of Omega, too. It just never sat right with me that taking care of her became his ENTIRE personality

Hes a soldier, who despite being completely out of his element, had a routine he strictly followed for the whole war. Yet he seemed to completely forget about that ?? Stressed or not stressed, that worn in routines and LIFELONG LESSONS should not have left his head as quickly as they seemed to.

The most obvious and frustrating example of the oversimplification of Hunter's character is with Crosshair. I cannot even BEGIN to describe my anger when it comes to Hunter and Crosshair. It mainly stems from the way he just FORGETS his brother is with the Empire. Conveniently never bringing it up unless someone else did it first.

As the oldest sibling and squad leader, I personally think Hunter should have been the one to bring him up. It should not have had to be specifically mentioned by another character for Hunter to discuss it. He loves his brothers, he loved Crosshair, broody or not, he should have brought it up AT LEAST once, imo.

We also see this complete disregard for Crosshair AGAIN in s3, now that we have seen Hunter looking for Omega and not ONCE mentioning Crosshair. Has he forgotten that they were originally going to find Crosshair??? That they never actually FOUND their brother ??????? Annoyed me so much, tbh.

What else annoyed me was the singular language he used during the whole episode. "She's part of our squad." "Hemlock took SOMEONE from us." He's completely and utterly disregarding the OTHER TWO SIBLINGS that the Empire took away from him !!!!! It genuinely frustrates me so much.

I know I'm DEFINITELY nit-picking here, but even when Hunter looked to Tech's goggles, it was in a "He should've been here to do this." Way, not a "He should be here." Way. That's his brother, who died looking for another that Hunter has forgotten.

Hunter's tunnel vision is probably one my least favourite things about the Bad Batch, if I dare even MENTION that- and I love this show. It means so much to me, but I just can't handle this particular part of it...

I have so SO much anger directed towards the treatment of Hunter by the writers. I want the Hunter who was devoted to his WHOLE family, who fought for ALL of them, who would have NEVER allowed Crosshair to leave in the first place. Give me that Hunter back.

(Saying this- I do not mind Hunter and Omega's father/daughter and brother/sister relationship !!! I do really enjoy it- in small amounts. The fact that Hunter became nearly an extention of Omega really just- threw me off his whole character, really)

I specifically pick to ignore this when I'm making anything. Hunter has been a sergeant of three idiots(named endearingly) for the entirety of the war. One child who wanders around should not have taken up 100% of Hunter's attention, ESPECIALLY when he was surrounded and supported. It just bothers me, idk

Anyway, thats my rant !!! Back to some positives soon, promise !! I just had to get this off my chest, it's been BOTHERING me.

Okay here we go.

I have just found out recently that it’s canon that Cupid has been watching Nico since he was young. And as usual, it sends many thoughts spiraling.

Assuming Nicole was Christian when he was young, when he saw this winged man, bathed in white and holy divine light, he might as well think he was an angel. He probably would have told Maria or Hades that. “There's an Angel”, to which Hades would have dismissed upon realizing it was actually Cupid.

I don't know about you but it sounds magical in a way that Nico, who is an Angel in name and in a prophecy, is looked after by somewhat a resemblance of said deity. His connection to Cupid started so soon. I would like to think about it as it is a reference to Nico being the same kind of Angel as Cupid is, in the sense that Eros, or Cupid, is God of homosexuality in the Greek myth. It’s confirmed in TSATS that Nico had had a sense of his difference since the early days and felt a little bit left out, which, imo, is as best as any to be a reason for Cupid to put a tab on him. Obviously, I don't know much about Greek mythology so this is probably only me.

Also, Favonius also mentioned that he had always known Nico would return to them. So I take this as that, Nico, for how much he tries to repress or run away from himself, there will surely come a time when he has to be true to what he is. To accept himself for all it has become and to realize that it doesn't make him any less of a human. It goes without saying that Cupid’s intervention was unnecessarily brutal, probably because the Greeks love tragedies, but the purpose remains true, which was to propel an essential step in Nico’s path to self-peace.

(Aphrodite liked Percabeth as the next person and she chose to make their love story ‘more interesting’ with challenges. Love gods are just unhinged, unfathomable like that)

Another thing. I have always found it fascinating how Cupid has taken an unusual interest in Nico, in particular. Nico couldn't be the only closeted person who had come to visit his place in the 30s? I like to think it has something to do with the fact that he was a son of Hades, who loved his wife enough to take up… controversial measures. Love and Death are similar, Cupid has said. Nico loves so much. His love has always run so deep – as reflected in what he did for Percy, the grief he held for Bianca, his affectionate side reserved for Hazel (bc familial love counts too) – that it impressed Cupid on a personal level so he just followed him since.

well, folks, it's thinking of felix forever thinking of felix time.

today i want to ramble about a common expression i see in the saltburn mines ("felix is his mother's son") and why i think it's often used as an oversimplification of both characters.

firstly, elspeth and her revolving door of poor dear guests. it's important to note that elspeth has been playing this game for a long, long time, at least as long as she's been the lady of the household (a good twenty years!). there are unspoken rules and games always at play within their society, and elspeth never fails to act with the appropriate level of decorum. only in private does she disparage pamela. in public, even around felix, she is careful to frame her boredom as her guests outgrowing her. even when pamela refuses to take a hint, she is removed from saltburn quietly and behind the scenes as early in the day as possible. the only two people that are ever truly aware of what's happening and actively taking notes of this… are oliver and farleigh, for whom the pecking order is extremely important. with that in mind, it seems very unlikely felix is aware of any of this, and instead sees it as his mother having a surprisingly kind streak despite all her annoying hang-ups and eccentricities.

but what about felix's toys from yesteryear? i think it is so telling that the word 'toy' only comes up in literally one scene, from a spurned venetia! oliver had pulled out the shameful, ugly parts of venetia that scared everyone else away, and found her desirable all the same. in the end, he made it very clear to her during that dinner scene: you can be my dirty little secret, but felix is more important to me. venetia is so perceptive too, just like farleigh (important survival skills imo); she knew exactly what would hurt him, because he is so desperate to remain in felix's good graces.

the only actual evidence in canon we have of one of felix's former guests is his best friend from school, eddie. it's unclear if eddie was "last year's one", or their fallout had taken place farther in the past. how long were they even friends for? we just don't know, but i imagine felix does not easily call anyone his best friend. emerald fennell herself actually refers to them as "felix's favourites" which i love and find more appropriate lol. more conjecture from me, but with those smidgens of context, i do not think felix was picking up the saddest, poorest boys he could find at a prestigious boarding school. his "friends" in the film are unbearably posh boys, and felix's childhood boy besties would have likely been as well.

so, oliver was an outlier in this. there is so much in the way felix and his family see oliver that confirms that they've never actually seen a Poor TM up close lmao. maybe oliver was going to get an invite to saltburn no matter what (he was, in every way, felix's favourite at oxford). but i think in that moment on date night bridge, if felix was his mother's son (as felix knew her), it was in that he saw someone he cared for in pain, with an uncertain place in the world, and knew no one would find it strange if he stayed in their home. in fact, the way felix words it (that his mum lets people stay for months at a time), leads me to believe that not even felix's former favourites stayed as long as oliver did.

another thing about that scene: felix, almost shyly, invites oliver to come home with him, and the first thing oliver does... is tell him no. we all know it's a dream come true for oliver, but he puts felix in a position where he has to practically beg oliver to accept lmao. insane behaviour tbfh!

What were the major factors for you in deciding whether to have kids?

Unwillingness to forego one of the most intense and unique human relationships possible: "The key to the sociobiology of mammals is milk. Because young animals depend on their mothers during a substantial part of their early development, the mother-offspring group is the universal nuclear unit of mammalian societies."

When I was younger, my major objection to having kids was that it would interfere with my career. I cared a lot about my career and looked forward to transitioning from a student who worked really hard and excelled in classes to a professional who worked really hard and excelled in the workplace and also earned a boatload of money. But then it turned out that I wasn't a hard worker, I just loved studying and taking exams. I don't have a career or the relationship to a career I envisioned, so that's the major obstacle removed.

Seven years ago, I went to a meetup hosted by an economist who liked historical reenactments. His three adult children were in SCA garb, served the guests food from a medieval Persian cookbook, and sat around arguing with him (and the rest of us) about economics. It was my first encounter with a family where the children shared interests with their parents and talked like peers. It fundamentally changed my mind on what families could look like.

Similar story: I visited my friend's family two years ago, and stayed in his teen daughter's room because there had been an in-house auction to determine whose room would go to the guest. She won and was monetarily compensated for it. In addition to having another example of a Relatable Family Where The Members Actually Like Each Other, I found my friend and his spouse's financial philosophy appealing and will be compensated for pregnancy and childcare by my spouse. 20% of my objection to having kids was objection to the financial arrangements of traditional marriage (which imo fucked over both of my parents when their relationship broke down... but more so my mom), so it shifted me on the kids issue to see & adopt a financial arrangement that to me feels more autonomy-preserving, egalitarian, and respectful of my labor and opportunity costs.

I knew I didn't want to be pregnant, didn't particularly like infants, didn't want to interact with toddlers for more than an hour (I like them but get very fatigued and have to go lie face down to recharge), which seemed like a good argument to not have kids. But I also simulated being 70 and childless and it felt distinctly bad. Among other reasons I noticed for the first time that I want a connection to the coming generations, which was startling.

It was hard not to notice that the giant would make an excellent dad, and also that we have complementary skill sets and preferences qua parents.

I read "Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids" after I'd already decided to have kids, but when I was discussing the decision with friends, multiple of them brought the book up. Its basic argument is that we (I suppose I mean Americans and East Asians here) invest in our children well past the point where it matters, which increases the quality of life difference between parents and nonparents, which sucks because lots of people would enjoy raising kids if the unnecessary expectations were dropped. Once I actually read the book I found it suspect (I stopped reading when Caplan described a study and then drew an inference that didn't logically follow), but the conclusion seems true based on observation and common sense. My own parents and I had a lot of conflict over piano lessons because proficiency in an instrument was expected in their milieu. My mom regularly fought me to make me eat breakfast (to this day I don't eat in the morning, my body just isn't made for that) even though it would have been fine to send me off to school with a banana to tide me over until lunch. People trade away health and career points to breastfeed even though the evidence is shaky that it matters. My sister is pursuing a zero screen policy with her child and said this choice significantly increases work and emotional toll. Once I noticed I was the type to be an overworked neurotic parent and that I'd priced my own terrible personality in when simulating how hard childrearing would be, I also noticed I could (with effort) not be that person and have an easier time. So my expectations of parenting changed.

Hmm, this is interesting to think about:

In Episode 7, we see how Yuzuko and Kazuki first met. 

She found him in a field of hydrangeas during the rainy season, holding an umbrella. He was at a low point here, in the sense of being very badly wounded and in need of physical help, which I am going to assume Yuzuko provided for him.

 We also get the full picture of her death in this week’s episode as well.

It is, once again, the rainy season and she is holding the same umbrella. So Kazuki met her and lost her around the same time of year. This adds even more depth and emotion to Karin’s words to Kazuki:

“So the thought that you only remember her looking sad...”

Since it is highlighting her later sentiment that “memories aren’t prisons.” Kazuki was locking himself in the memory of her death during this time of the year, rather than the memory of his meeting her. 

Now, when it comes to Rei, we don’t know when exactly it was that the two of them met. But it was likely a good bit before the events of Episode 1, since there was a familiarity between the two of them already. The interesting thing here though is that Rei didn’t find Kazuki like Yuzuko did, it seems more like Kazuki found him. This is based off of the February Animedia interview where the producer, Toba says:

Kazuki is very family-oriented; he's the so-called maternal type. The reason why he started living together with Rei is that he saw the complete shambles of Rei's lifestyle, went, 'This won't do!' and started fussing over him.

And we know from Rei’s general personality and the dynamic they have going on that Rei follows Kazuki, not the other way around. So, at his lowest he sought out someone to care for. But when it was just him and Rei, they were still at their lowest, diving deep into their bad habits and styles of living. 

They were both just in survival mode. They weren’t really living though. 

The one who finds Kazuki this time though is Miri. 

She finds him when he is at his lowest, and her existence in his life gives him the motivation to start changing and to start actually living again. This was in the middle of the winter, when everything is dead. And then this little ball of energy and sunshine entered his life. She provided him the same chance at a family that Yuzuko did, though obviously in a very different way than her (through being a daughter as opposed to a romantic partner and wife like Yuzuko).

And he jumped at the chance. We see him accepting her into his life slowly, bit by bit and through various different aspects and areas. But he still has boundaries set up, he still has a part of himself that is holding back, and he still sees Miri as something that was given to him in a way, then something he actively sought out.  At the end of Episode 7, though we see him “find” Miri. 

He chooses to go back to her. 

He also chooses to go back to Rei too. When he looks softly at the end of Episode 7, it is a look directed at both Miri and Rei. He’s proud and happy to see that Rei actually stepped up and took care of Miri. His warm smile is at the thought of him having a true second chance at a family again, without past memories blocking emotional bonds and connections.

And the thing is, this all happens, again, during the rainy season. Kazuki was, imo, seriously contemplating not returning at various points in this episode. But, he decided to go back to this unexpected family instead of losing the chance again, during the rainy season.

Episode 7 was a great leap in Kazuki’s character development. He’s finally starting to allow himself to properly heal, and like how Yuzuko found him when he was at a low point and in bad shape during the rainy season 5 years ago, Kazuki is here now, in the rainy season, actively returning to Rei when Rei is at his lowest point (in terms of caring for Miri). 

It almost feels like Kazuki is being to Rei what Yuzuko was for him, like taking on that same kind of role, though maybe not with the same kind of dynamic, more so just being the helping hand needed when in a bad place. 

That’s lovely in a way, but it does keep Kazuki in a sort of perpetual “giving” position in the relationship that he has with Rei. Since Rei grew up without love, we haven’t really seen him reaching out for it. Not in the same way it seems Yuzuko may have done with Kazuki or in the way that Kazuki seems to instinctually do with Miri or in the way Kazuki has done with Rei now. The gasp at realizing Miri was sick, then the confused stare for a moment, and finally the soft stare when he realized Rei stepped up and everything was fine.. That’s us seeing him making an emotional connection with the both of them at that moment, even if they were both asleep.

Something clicked there and we can see that a proper shift has happened, and that while Kazuki has always been more of an animated personality type than Rei, there is something much more true and genuine about this smile than the ones he has given in the past:

I think it’s because Kazuki has finally found himself and the obvious weight that he was carrying around has lifted. I feel like Kazuki maybe doesn’t feel like he needs to be found anymore and needs to reach out to Rei and Miri like he was doing in the past - to survive and deal with his trauma, but now he just wants to be with them and reach out to them and connect with them (we can see this through him saying he’ll teach them what good French toast actually is).

With Rei, we see that he has literally reached out to Miri in this episode:

And he is reaching out to Kazuki too. Usually Rei just goes with Kazuki’s flow, but he doesn’t actively seek anything out from Kazuki. At the end of this week’s episode though, he is actively seeking some kind of approval from Kazuki in regards to his French toast.

Kazuki may no longer need to be found or reached out to, but I hope we see Rei still try and do that, not so he can continue to take, but so that he can start to give back.

Buck & Eddie: Buck died for three minutes and seventeen seconds!

In 6x12, Eddie told Buck, “You died, Buck!” but Maddie told him, “Buck, you died” and Bobby said the same thing in 6x15 during Buck’s performance review (related post linked here).

Was Buck dying a huge deal?  YES!  And apparently, it affected everyone but Buck.  Eddie cried in Buck’s hospital room, Chris asked him to come back, Maddie cried, Bobby kept vigil by Buck’s bedside with his rosary beads, Athena knew the effect his death would have on her husband because he sees Buck as a son and she told him to “Wake up damn it”.  Chimney cried, Hen did too and May was worried about the effect Buck’s death would have on Bobby just like Athena was worried.  Chimney told Albert they had to take Margaret out because she was hysterical but the audience didn’t see her cry like we did everyone in Buck’s found family and I believe that was on purpose (post linked here).

Now, onto 7x1 where Buck told Eddie that he broke up with Natalia because all she talked about was death and he’s not sure why he thought dating her was a good idea (neither did the audience but ok, that was the decision that was made so there’s nothing that can be done about it).  TM (showrunner) said in a recent interview, Buck was tired of talking about his "death" and he’s ready to find happiness.  If that’s true, then great but if he’s really moved on from it, why didn’t anyone including Eddie, who knows Buck to his core (RG's words) see the growth? Reminder, Eddie's response to Buck's breakup was, "Welcome back to the land of the living, Buck. You were truly missed."

The timeline for last night’s episode was so messed up that it was hard to make heads or tails of anything.  Bobby initially bought their cruise tickets in 5x18 but their trip got postponed at the end of 6x1 since Athena's father had a stroke. It begs the question did those tickets get refunded and he purchased new ones because Athena told Frank, two months before they left on their cruise, which happened a year after the bridge collapse 🤷🏽‍♀️that Bobby bought the tickets a week ago, so who knows what time period it is in this realm or wherever they’re in right now.  The way things played out, dare I say it but it kind of seems like they’re all still living in Buck’s coma dream but hey, maybe it’s being done on purpose.

Back to the regularly scheduled program…

Reminder, Buck died!  And according to Eddie, he was dead for three minutes and seventeen seconds.  He was literally dead and even though Chimney worked on Buck for three minutes, he couldn’t restart Buck’s heart, only Eddie could and the last seventeen seconds was all him!

These things happened and they’re important but for some reason, Buck’s death along with everything else that happened to him in season 6 are being treated like they didn’t happen or as if they were of no consequence.  In 6x12, Dr. Salazar told Buck that people who have near death experiences either go back to their lives like nothing’s changed or they make a drastic change and quit their jobs, divorce their spouses or they go to Italy.

Well… Buck’s done NEITHER of those things since he’s still doing the same job and he didn’t do anything drastic like move out of the loft or something, just anything other than saying and proclaiming he's happy now all of a sudden.  Him breaking up with Natalia wasn’t drastic since he broke up with Taylor in season 5. It would have been different if it had been his first time choosing something for himself but it wasn't.

IMO, the way his death is being glossed over makes it seem like there’s something else that could happen with Buck after 7x6 airs.  Reminder, there will be a mini hiatus just like there was between 6x12 and 6x13 and everyone should remember the drastic change that took place then.  Buddie and the Buckley-Diaz family were prominent more than any other ship in that episode.  Now, be clear, I’m not saying Buck will have a breakdown (even though he's overdue to have one and him crying over Eddie being shot is not the same thing) but I will say he’s headed for a storm.  Also, his life is paralleling Eddie’s after the shooting and to me it seems off because Buck’s happy but no one knows why or how he got there.  It appears he’s hiding how he truly feels the same way Eddie did before he started panicking followed by his breakdown.  Additionally, it appears Buck’s continuing to parallel Athena’s arc for this season too and if he is then, his fear or whatever has him “terrified” will come into play later in the season (post about Bathena and Buddie parallels linked here).

I fully understand the show only has so much “real estate” per episode, as TM described it but in season 6 (which I know should be a distant memory by now for a lot of reasons), the audience only SAW Buck start things but there wasn’t any resolution to any of them. THEY WERE ALL UNFINISHED BY THE END OF 6X18.

In 6x1, he wanted to be interim captain but that storyline fell off a cliff and wasn’t revisited.

In 6x2, he wanted to be happy and apparently, according to OS and TM, this season he’ll be going after the things that make him happy but NO ONE BUT BUCK knows what those things are.

In 6x4, he thought long and hard about being Connor’s sperm donor but there were two things he said that were left unfinished and unresolved.

When he was at Hen’s house, he told her he didn’t want to turn them down but he never said why.

At the end of the episode, he told Connor and Kameron he didn’t know what he wanted (I still think that was a lie but I digress) but he was willing to give them what they wanted.

The audience doesn’t know why Buck didn’t want to turn them down and if he would have said why, there wouldn't be an issue. Also, he never explained what he wants but I suppose the audience is just supposed to forget all about those two important factors and move on the way Buck has.  As a viewer, wanting answers to close main characters' storylines is a fair request since we’ve all seen Buck repeat the same mistakes and remain on the hamster wheel (OS’s words) for the last three years with no resolution.

In 6x7, he was adamant about donating even though the universe kept screaming at him not to do it and it went so far as to stop his Jeep on the street but he ran there anyway.  Also, only him and Eddie touched the cursed bracelet during that episode but nothing came of that either.

In 6x9, he told the team he was the creator of new life and he had a onesie on the nightstand with an LAFD logo on it but that too went absolutely nowhere (posts linked here and here).

In 6x10, he died!  But also, before he did, he talked a lot about family but no one knows if he wants his own family or if he’s happy with his biological or found or both.

In 6x11, he was in a coma for most of the episode where it was all about him (he was making things about himself again like everyone has told him he does) but when he woke up, he told Bobby there was one thing he couldn’t fix while he was in it but since he didn’t say it, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THAT IS.

In 6x12, when Eddie asked him if could ask him how he was, Buck replied, “Honestly Eddie… I don’t know”; well, since he didn't say it, neither does the audience.  Also, he went to Maddie’s and told her about his coma dream but the only part the audience heard was that it was never nighttime and the first thing he does when he wakes up is text Bobby.

In 6x13, he knew how to do math and his life appeared to be going where he wanted it to but then, 6x14 happened and his math powers were gone.

In 6x15, aside from meeting the DeAtH dOuLA and telling her about his dream (which the audience didn’t hear then either), he told Eddie while they were in the cemetery, “The truth is… I am different but I feel like I have to be the same old Buck, mostly for the sake of everyone else”.  Is he still being the same old Buck now?  Who knows?

From 6x16 through 6x18, Buck was still acting like the same old Buck then he ended the season in another lackluster boring relationship with someone who he believed SAW him but everyone knows she didn’t see $hit.

Now here’s my main issue and please don’t misunderstand me.  If Buck’s all great and happy, FINE but it’s hard to correlate his new found happiness with everything he’s been through especially since the audience didn’t get to see his journey.  He’s not in therapy and he’s not reading self-help books or whatever anymore so how did he get from point A to point B? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Since the audience remains in the dark, are we supposed to just accept him saying he’s better?  I’m not buying that snake oil they’re selling and my reasoning for it is based on two things.  First, Buck identifies himself as a firefighter but that wasn’t addressed before season 6 ended because IMO it tied in with everything else he experienced.  Also, Buck’s actions in the promos and trailers make it seem like he’s hesitant about something regarding his job.  Could the narrative change?  ABSOLUTELY but if it doesn’t, no one knows if he is or isn’t still struggling.

Reminder, Buck broke up with Natalia but Eddie didn’t know and why is that? Their lack of communication could be due to the wacky time jumps or the miscalculation of them but in any event, they hadn't discussed it even though they're working together again. In 7x1, they kept showing how close they are but there’s obviously some things they still haven’t discussed including Buck’s death.  Please note, Buck is once again paralleling Athena since there’s something she hasn’t told Bobby too. They're both not saying the stuff they should be and if they continue to parallel then all should be revealed soon.

This post is simply to highlight the fact that Buck took another journey but once again, the audience has NO IDEA how he got there just like at the end of season 5 when he finally ended things with Taylor.  Sure he broke up with her but he didn’t do it because he was unhappy, he did it because she did something he probably knew she would do anyway especially since she betrayed the 118 and Bobby in 2x6 so what exactly is the audience supposed to believe?  He’s changed even though we didn’t see it?  I call BS and I think TM is lying just like he did about Eddie’s PTSD.  He said Eddie wouldn’t go through it but a few months later he did and it was important to his healing.

Will anything come of all the things Buck experienced in season 6?  Who knows but apparently the audience is just supposed to roll with the idea that he’s 100% better even though we didn’t see any of it.  Reminder, we saw everyone else’s journey and how they clawed their way back after their breakdowns, i.e., Eddie’s, Maddie’s, Athena’s, Chimney’s and even Bobby’s after he had two, one in 2x16 and one in season 1 after the plane crash but we’re supposed to accept the fact that Evan “Please don’t leave me, I make things about me and I like to fix things” “Buck” Buckley is ok?  NOPE!  I’m not buying it.

Whether Lokius is romantic or not in the end, Loki deserves a healthy relationship in his life, that is not directly tied to his family drama. And Mobius not caring about his past life, is an important part of the character. Him being a secret god, would defeat that big time!

part of the appeal about mobius n loki's relationship (platonic or otherwise) is that mobius is effectively just Some Guy. he has a certain level of authority/clearance, but he's just an office worker for a time travel agency. and he looked at this hissing cat of a man (loki) and said "oh he's neat!!!! i'm gonna keep him!!!!" it was a totally random twist of fate and the fact they get along so well and care so much about each other isn't because they owe each other, or because of any "history" they have with each other. its because they're two strangers who fit, and found companionship in a very lonely world. if mobius is directly tied to the loki thor odin drama it'll cheapen the whole thing a bit imo

The characterization of Klaus in his fanfics is just insane.

First of all, this is gonna be bashing to 96% of Klaus’s fanfics lmao. I still love reading them tho.

But straight to the point, why are people writing him as if he would ever allow someone, anyone, to disrespect him the way authors make their ocs do??? No, Klaus wouldn't be giggling and shit if you call him "puppy" or "Santa Klaus", he's literally gonna murder you in the spot and even worse lmao.

I've read so much stories where the protagonist is constantly insulting Klaus and bickering with him (it's funny tho) and he just... allows it. Yes, Klaus, the man who's literally shown to tear off heads whenever someone as much breathes in the wrong way, and yet he allows this teen (because in 99% of fanfics the protagonist is a girl not over nineteen, at least physically) to talk shit about him.

Like I absolutely love those kind of stories, they're good and I'll continue reading them, but the Klaus they write is 100% ooc. And I understand why, because as someone who used to write fanfics of him, his character is just so difficult to write but it doesn't seem like they even try to.

Moving to another famous trope in his fanfics: soulmate stories. I find it very ooc that he would actually accept he has a soulmate: he wouldn't believe it, he's literally the most paranoid character of tvdu, Klaus would 100% believe it's just a plot made to control him and he would probably kill his soulmate, only to regret it forever. Or those "I've been seeing her/having dreams about her for a thousand of years, she's without a doubt the person I'm meant to love forever", what?? 😭

If Klaus ever saw this person in real life, there are just two possibilities I can think of:

A) he would be extremely paranoid and would kill this person on the spot

B) he would be extremely paranoid, but decides to not kill x person for some barely explained reason and would get to know her/him and perhaps fall in love.

I'm aware Klaus can and has been soft in canon: with his family (in occasions, more in New Orleans modern era), with Hayley, Marcel, and Cami. I mean, Klaus loved Cami so much he actually begged her to not leave him, to fully turn into a vampire because he was terrified of losing her, and a decade after her death he was still in love with her (something a certain part of the fandom fails to see lmao).

The fanfics where he cheats with Hayley/Cami/Caroline/ Genevieve/Aurora or he just cheats while he's in a relationship also are ooc imo. If he's in a commited relationship and he loves the person he's with, I don't see him as the cheater type, especially because he wasn't sleeping around in the program.

But either way, show me the fanfics with true depiction. Show me fanfics where he's so screwed up that he continually pushes the person he loves away, where he constantly hurts them with/without intention as he did to his siblings, where he constantly uses his s/o for his own personal gain or similar. Where he's actually his true self, the man he was in tvd before having Hope and even after having Hope, because she actually did not change him that much.

I think I only found three fics like that: one in ao3 called I Would Hurt A Fly, where the oc was a witch or something like it and he used her as a personal sex toy/blood bag but there were slight hints of his love but sadly was deleted.

Or the ones written by @viavolterra and @saintsir4n, the way they write Klaus is the closest I've ever seen to his canon self and it's genuinely good writing. Patisserie is also a really good written fanfic that writes the characters well, but it's a poly Mikaelson fic (which it's even better, the more the best)

Either way, a violent man isn't gonna change with the power of love and family. The Originals tried doing that with Hope and they failed, because Klaus was the same man he was at the start, just slightly less mean to his family.

Three of the saddest moments in Saltburn (imo):

1. The montage of Oliver realizing he’s failing to keep the family’s interest followed by the scene where he tries to open the door to Felix’s bedroom to finally make a move. It’s the way that Felix went from the bathtub to the bedroom and locked the door for privacy that only proves to me that he knew exactly what he was doing in that tub and the impact it would have on Oliver, Felix is the spider. He is the one spinning his webs around Saltburn and trying to catch the moths that flock to him.

2. Oliver standing at the pond the morning after he killed Felix before everyone found out. The way his eyes are full of tears before he throws the bottle into the water. Throwing the murder weapon into the pond is the only time he really gets to actually participate in the Catton family death tradition. It is such a bittersweet moment as he looks up towards what will be his new prize (Saltburn) and turns his back on his true love.

3. Oliver’s mother begging him to stay. Gutting. I want to do a deep dive into Oliver’s relationship with his mom / women in general. I think it’s so interesting that he rejects his own mother, but in the final scene with Elsbeth almost seems to be wrapping himself in her arms like a child would. I also think it’s so interesting that it’s the women in the family who have the most dramatic deaths.

I'm not even a Gwynriel but how can you read the line "You're the new ribbon, Az" and not immediately realize something is brewing? I wasn't here for the TOG ship wars. I read the series and in Heir of Fire I was almost certain Rowaelin was endgame. I was salty about it, but I knew it would be endgame because I'd already recognized how SJM writes her stories by that point. Imagine my surprise when I found out there had been an insane debate about it before Rowaelin became endgame. I'm not even salty about it anymore; imo Yrene is a way better fit for Chaol and honestly the cadre is 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️(especially their former commander 🥵). Imo, the Aelin/Chaol/Rowan dynamic is similar to the Elain/Azriel/Lucien dynamic. Every Ewriel "moment" has been nullified by something else happening in the text. But by the end of ACOSF, several things are still true: 1. Rhysand stopped Azriel from kissing Elain. Azriel then rejected her and Elain returned the necklace. Azriel went to the library with the intention that Gwyn receive it, even if he didn't hand it to her directly. 2. Lucien and Elain are still mates. You can argue all you want that it's a spell, but SJM uses the same mating language to describe their bond as she does with any true mating pair. Besides, do you really think SJM is going to make Lucien spend decades convinced his first love was his mate only to hand him a fake mate? Pls be fr. The only fake mating bond SJM created was with Rowan and Lyria because of the dark powers of Maeve, but Lyria was Rowan's FIRST love, fake mating bond or no. Lyria is somewhat like the Jesminda in this situation, not Elain. 3. Azriel ended the bonus chapter thinking of Gwyn. No he didn't express sexual thoughts yet, I'd be disturbed if he had. But he was at ease with her in a way he wasn't with anyone else, his shadows danced with her as opposed to the skittering it does with Elain and Mor. Secret, lovely beauty. 4. Elain is bothered by the cruelty of the Hewn City. She also was "ridiculous" in black, which is CLEAR foreshadowing. The Spring Court was described as being "made for someone like her." You're always talking about foreshadowing and shit but then ignore the foreshadowing that Elain will be leaving the Night Court. 5. Feyre WANTED Elain to get to know Lucien. She may have doubted the Cauldron's decision initially, but the fact that she was supporting Lucien and encouraging Elain to interact with him shows that at the very least she's CONSIDERING the possibility that the Cauldron IS right. To be honest, I don't give a shit who Azriel ends up with. I'm here for Lucien's story. But I read that bonus chapter and I instantly knew Gwynriel was endgame. Gwyn is not going to be used as an obstacle between Azriel and Elain; she's part of Nesta's chosen family and has been through enough, she deserves better than being the girl in the middle. And SJM doesn't even write love triangles, which is honestly a relief, because love triangles are so cringey. I don't think Elain and Azriel are going to get "closure," because honestly they barely had a relationship to begin with. They didn't even kiss.

BEFORE HIS BETRAYAL

Arthur in canon is a very loyal man. He despises demons from the very bottom of his heart so it would take a lot for him to defect to the other side.

Following on from the Yanplatonic Shiro Concept, This takes place before Satan possessed and eventually killed him. Shiro is still overly protective of you, Rin and Yukio. He's still the paladin and he keeps a very close eye on all of you.

You, Still being the little princess of the family, The youngest with your demonic heart still sealed within the hilt of two twin daggers. Shiro babies and protects you the most which is why this is a difficult conversation..

You found out about demons on accident, When one of Shiro's familiars (That were killed straight afterwards) accidentally bit you, Giving you a temptaint.

Shiro doesn't know what to do as you confront him about the existence of these creatures. He tries to tell you that this is apart of your illness, That you're hallucinating these creatures but you don't buy it any longer.

You're this close to finding out about his manipulation towards you and your siblings, So Shiro has to act fast and give it up. He tells you that demons do exist and that your illness must've been caused by one of them.

You, Being the young impressionable child that you are, Buy it immediately. Instantly you get excited about it, Asking so many questions. Where do they come from? Does he fight them? Can I fight them?!

Shiro doesn't tell you who your real father is, He doesn't want to go there yet.

Now that you know, That makes you and Yukio the two that know, Excluding Rin. You're excited since you have something new to talk about with your older brother. While Yukio is a little shocked that you've found out, He is happy that he can talk to someone else about it

Though your last question is not one that you let go of quickly. Shiro is displeased day and night after you keep coming to him, Begging him to fight demons.

Shiro keeps denying but he knows he cannot keep it up for long, Him spoiling you has gave you a bit of a demanding streak. You won't give up, And as much as Shiro hates it, He knows that you won't either. If he keeps denying, He knows you'll find a much more dangerous way to fight demons.. Without him.

So he has to give in.

But with him as the paladin and already training Yukio, It gives him very little time to train you. While Shiro is content with this, You certainly are not and ask for more time to train. And hey! Shiro just can't resist when you smile like that, Like Yuri did.

So Shiro needs to find someone that can and it's not an easy job. He has to find someone that can protect you, Can cater to your needs and most important of all: Keep him informed of your whereabouts.

Which is where Arthur comes in.

Arthur, He is proper. Arthur can kill demons effectively. Arthur is a good protector. Arthur is loyal, Like a dog. Arthur obeys the paladin, Aka Shiro. Which in other words, Makes him a perfect fit for the job.

Arthur, When approached with the job, Is hesitant at first. Him at the time being an Arc Knight being approached by the paladin, Requesting Arthur to take his daughter under his wing.

Did Shiro even have a daughter? Arthur isn't sure but he won't question it, If it's an order from The Paladin (Who can do no wrong in his eyes) then Arthur will take it with pride!

And now he has an apprentice, Namely you.

Arthur at first would definetly be a little bit cold to you. Though I suppose the right word would be awkward, Mostly due to the fact that your hyperactive and naïve personality would be rather hard to get use to with Arthur's knight complex.

Though, After a few missions, Your relationship does start to change.

You really want to become an exorcist, Just like Yukio and your dad! So you make sure to put in as much effort as possible when doing your tasks, Always listening with your full attention when Arthur teaches you something.

Arthur appreciates it greatly, It's good to know that you have some discipline in you. So much so that he starts warming up to you, Even trying to make a few jokes here and there.

It sucks that you're just as oblivious as he is when it comes to humour. At least that's something you have in common.

As his apprentice your job mostly consists of following him around to take notes, If it's a lower ranked demon then maybe you'll be able to exorcise it! Arthur thinks your too young to take on middle-class or especially high-class demons. But a small Greenman or two should be fine.

Arthur reports to Shiro every hour on the hour, Always detailing what you're doing and where you are. Arthur is a little suspicious as to why Shiro is so worried but he chalks it up to just a worried parent.

Arthur grows to like you a lot. Despite your few flaws (eg. Your slightly spoiled personality), Arthur goes blind to it and believes that you are just the sweetest thing, Taking pride that it is you who is his apprentice.

Especially when you gush about him to your brother, Yukio. Arthur may or may not have overheard you telling him about his skill and how happy you are to have him as your master.

It makes him feel an insane amount of pride, Always returning the favour when introducing you to other exorcists as his "Talented Apprentice."

Yukio is happy for you, While he doesn't particularly click with Arthur, He's happy your happy while Rin still has absolutely no clue about where you have been running off to you.

So far, Everything is normal, Great even. Your master is one of the most powerful people in the order, Your father though controlling still cares and loves you.

But, That all changes the day that Satan possesses Shiro. The day that you find out exactly who you are and where you come from. You feel helpless as you scream, Being dragged into the Gehenna gate while the demon possessing Shiro cackles the entire time.

You feel helpless even after it's all over, After Rin unsheathes Kurikara and you have no choice but to pick up The Twin Daggers, Destroying the Gehenna Gate at the cost of your humanity.

You sob, Falling to the ground over Shiro's charred corpse and crying with Rin by your side. You hug each other tight, Rin terrified and you too.

Rin is horrified when he finds out that Satan is his father, The only thing he can do is hug you, Hoping to both comfort and find solace in you.

Yukio comes back home to find his father dead and his two siblings weeping, Huddled together and terrified. Yukio can't do anything but join you, Crying for the loss of your father as the sun finally rises upon all of you.

Its only you three now, Only you three against the world.

BECOMING DEMON ARTHUR

Arthur comes upon the scene only a bit later after Yukio does, Wanting to check in since you hadn't text him a "Good morning" like you usually do. The start of his tendencies marking here.

But when he finds what happened, Sees you, Rin and Yukio crying next to the corpse of the Paladin, He instantly switches into overprotective mode. Not just for you, But for your brothers too.

He rushes over, Instantly coddling the three of you and demanding to know what happened. Rin explains what happened through his tears, Explaining what happened and that they're the spawn of Satan.

Arthur is shocked, Horrified as he realises that his apprentice was the child of the demon that killed his parents all those years ago. Fifteen to be exact.

Fifteen, The exact same age that you three were. Arthur feels disgusted, You were conceived on the blue night, Most likely in the bowels of Section Thirteen.

Section Thirteen.

Wait, What was Section Thirteen again?

Arthur doesn't know what it was or why it came to his mind, What was it? For some reason something inside him started to resonate, Like it was something more than they were letting on.

But he had no time to fret over it. It doesn't matter if you were the children of Satan, You were sweet, You were enough to prove that you weren't your father, The one who killed his parents.

He would take care of you three, He'd make sure nothing would get to you.

But that night after contacting the Vatican of what happened (Excluding your heritage), After Rin contacted Mephisto and set the main story into motion is when it happens.

A nightmare, A horrid nightmare. Flashes of things he doesn't remember. Clinical white walls. Flames the colour of sapphires, Flames, They were everywhere. A blinding light, One he almost walked into.

Arthur woke up in a cold sweat that night, Heart thundering in his chest as he tried to register what that bizzare dream could possibly mean. He wasn't able to get to sleep that night, Nor was he able to let it go so easily.. It felt so real, Almost as if he was there.

These nightmares continue each night, Over and over again showing flashes of new places and people that he doesn't recognise. It tortures him, Makes him go near insane.

The next morning after checking on you and your brothers well-being, Arthur heads off to find out what that dream could've meant. But he doesn't go to the Uzai's or even the library under the academy.

No, Arthur heads to the deep keep.

Arthur has gained access due to his status as an Arc Knight, Though that access must be curated with piles of paperwork and permission from the Grigori.

But Arthur doesn't care, Not like his usual righteous self. These nightmares are more than they appear, They nag him.

And what he finds in there is horrifying.

Experiments, Horrible inhumane experiments. Children used in the name of furthering Demon Kings, All killed and tortured. People cloned and killed.

And it was all done by the organisation he was set to lead.

Arthur throws up at the pictures, Gags at the descriptions of what happened. And worst of it all, The worst thing that he had found was that his parents, The reason why he had become an exorcist didn't even exist in the first place.

No. Arthur was a clone, A clone of none other than The King of Light, Lucifer himself.

Arthur breaks down, Not able to handle it.

He's a demon, He's what he had swore to eradicate. Arthur feels so much in a single moment. Disgust, At himself at the vatican at everyone who had kept this from him.

The Uzai's especially, The one's who were the famed family of the order and the ones who had taken him in. They had lied to him, They had used him. They were monsters.

Demons. How could someone so righteous like him come from them? This is where his delusions start to kick in. If he, So righteous and good came from the demons then..

Maybe he had been looking at this wrong way the entire time.

You stay up late one night, Resting in the old boys dorm that you had moved into with your brothers. Rin is asleep while Yukio is up late doing exorcist reports and studying for the coming school year.

You're wandering through the dormitory, Heading towards the kitchen for a late-night snack when you first hear the banging on the door.

Who could be up at this hour? Banging at an old dormitory's doors? Despite the odd feeling in your stomach, You make your way over and open it up.

You're surprised to find Arthur there, Supporting himself against the doorframe once you open it. You should be excited to see him, But you're really concerned to see the state of him.

He's dishevelled, His hair is a mess and his skin is damp with sweat. His pristine white uniform was barely done up, A stark contrast to his usual self as he use to pride himself on his appearance.

You're worried for him, But have no time to ask if he's okay as he instantly starts to ramble. It's almost obsessive, The way his expression looks paranoid and neurotic.

But his words concern you more. Arthur demands that you get your brothers, Get your stuff and get out of this place. It's not safe for any of you! Not with what the order did to those other kids, All those clones. He needs to get you all out of here, All for your safety.

You're terrified as he grabs onto your wrist, Pulling you forward towards him. You scream for Yukio, Who instantly rushes down the stairs at your call with Rin following afterwards, Woken up by the noise.

Rin instantly rushes to help you, Yelling at Yukio to call someone from the Vatican. Arthur, Being the Arc Knight that he is, Makes it very difficult to fight him. Rin instantly being disarmed from Kurikara.

Yukio is horrified as he pulls out his gun in one hand, Phone in the other as he desperately explains to Shura what is happening. Arthur wasn't in his right mind, Yukio telling Shura to bring backup. Arthur needed to be restrained, Obviously going through something.

Arthur is inconsolable as he tries to tell you all what happened, But it only comes out as undecipherable ramblings. Why aren't you all listening to him?! This place is evil! You need to come with him right away, It's not safe for any of you! He'll protect you!

But once he hears the conversation between Yukio and Shura, Arthur instantly starts to panic. The order cannot come here! They can't know about him being aware of Section Thirteen! Who knows what they'll do to him, What they'll do to you?!

Once Rin goes in to try attack Arthur, To try and save you from his grip is when suddenly all the lights turn on in the dorm. They're blinding, Most certainly going over their limits.

They explode, Glass shattering and falling down to the floor. You all cover your heads, A blinding flash in the room.

Once it fades, You find that Arthur has vanished. Gone into thin air.

DEMON ARTHUR

Now before we can make headcannons of what happens with Demon! Arthur. I find it suiting that we establish him first.

I imagine Demon! Arthur to be draconic in appearance. Mostly due to the original tale of King Arthur. Uther Pendragon was King Arthur's father, Dragon literally being in the name with it meaning "highest commander; head leader; top of the command chain" which will mean something later.

Plus I like the symbolism of a knight becoming a dragon, Sue me.

I like to think that Arthur would start to change overtime. He'd grow greyish-yellow scales in certain places (eg. Around his eyes, Shoulders, Knees and Hands) and if we're feeling risky, Some horns to match.

I'd also assume that Arthur would gain pointy ears, Claws and maybe even a tail like a normal demon would, Something perhaps similar to Amaimon's reptilian tail.

Personality-wise? Yeah, He'd change too.

Demon! Arthur would definetly gain a sadistic streak, Not as if it wasn't there when he was fighting demons, But I'd say it would definetly become more prominent and focused towards Humanity.

He'd definetly become more strict and serious too, Demonic instincts kicking in and becoming much less tolerant of disrespect. I'd even consider that he'd gain a temper, A sort of disciplinary one.

His saint complex has definetly become much more egotistical, Taking much more pride in the fact that he's a demon now and a powerful one at that.

He'd become the highest ranking demon of light, Just below Lucifer, Of course. Gaining the abilities such as Light Manipulation, Creating illusions with the light and other stuff like that.

And we're not gonna forget about Caliburn here, His precious sword would definetly be much more powerful now. I'd even suspect that the hair he'd need to exchange with Caliburn would no longer become usual since Arthur is higher in rank, Caliburn needing to obey Arthur.

SHIMANE ILLUMINATI ARC

Months later, After the festival fiasco and the declaration of war made on the True cross. You're now on a mission to get your friend, Your classmate Izumo back. Who had been kidnapped by the Illuminati.

Not to mention Shima, Who had been revealed to be a spy for the Illuminati the entire time. You feel betrayed, Confused and horrified as to why he would do this.

Before then, You've made a good life for yourself. You've made friends.

Bon, Shima and Konekomaru basically became your brothers outside of your actual brothers. They were your best friends and despite the rivalry Bon had with Rin at the start, You had befriended them quick and your relationship with them developed even quicker.

Shiemi was the person you spent the most time around, Often joining her and Yukio for Tea. You also do your homework together, Always learning something new from her everyday!

Izumo and Paku are the girls you sit with everyday at lunch. Even though Izumo often shoves you off, You know that you've grown on her, If only a little bit.

You love your friends, All of them, Which is why when Izumo got kidnapped you and the rest of the Exwires went off to get them back. Both Izumo and Shima, You'll bring them back whether they like it or not.

So you and the rest of the Exwires head off to the Illuminati base. You break in, Get separated and fight your way out of the rooms and do the entire charade of fighting for Izumo.

The doctor, Gedōin. He does his whole charade as well. After loosing Izumo's mother and Izumo as a whole, He puts on the mask and becomes the squid demon that possesses him.

You all defeat him, It's a massive fight. The only difference between here and the manga is the Kyoto Squad not showing up, Leaving the rest of you to fight

It's an exhausting fight, But you all finally manage to get him down. Once you do you're all tired and numb, Out of ammo and done-for Ability-wise. You're glad it's over.

But then, Through the rubble and the dust, Is when you hear footsteps.

They're loud as thunder, Making everyone jerk up towards where they're coming from. Despite they're aching muscles, Everyone dusts themselves off and ready themselves for another fight, You included.

Bon aims his rocket launcher at the destroyed opening where the footsteps were coming from. Konekomaru readies a sutra, Izumo readies Uke and Mike, Shiemi prepares Nee while You, Yukio and Rin begin to bare your weapons.

A voice calls out, One that's familiar and makes you freeze up at the recognition. Your brothers recognise too. The grip Rin has on Kurikara starts to shake while Yukio's eyes go wide, Aiming his gun higher.

Arthur still hasn't revealed himself, But the footsteps grow closer as he starts to degrade the people who dared to step foot in this place. Sadistic as he vows to destroy whatever threat may be opposing him, You can already hear Caliburn being unsheathed.

Arthur steps out from the dust in all of his glory. Standing tall and demonic in all his glory. Caliburn stands tall by his side as he marches out, Ready to strike down the intruders with a single slash of his sword.

You're horrified. You had known of your master's disappearance but you had never expected this! You can barely hold up your daggers to him anymore, Staring at him with a mixture of disgust and betrayal.

Rin is disgusted too. He's exhausted but he holds his sword up to Arthur anyways. This was the man who had taken care of them for a while after Shiro had died, Now betraying them in favour of the Illuminati.. Rin can't believe it.

Yukio too, He's debating whether he should pull the trigger right here right now. How could Arthur do this? Why would he do this?! This may also stem from the conversation he had with Lucifer earlier.. The one where he was invited to join him.

The rest of the Exwires were aware of the Arc Knight's disappearance. Bon and Konekomaru angry that such a righteous man would go over to the otherside, Shiemi terrified and exhausted, Izumo angry while Shima watches from the side-lines.

Arthur, In the time that he had disappeared, Had been taken in and cared for by the Illuminati. With his powers awakened, Arthur had rose in the ranks to the title of "General" within the Illuminati's arsenal.

He's become much more powerful, So much more than all of you combined. And every single one of you can feel it, His power rolling off of him. You're all terrified, But you raise your weapons anyways.

But it's when Arthur finally marches out and stands atop the pile of rubble does he stop his speech, Stare down at the group ready to fight in front of him and stop.

These are kids.

These are kids and the Order had sent them out here, Out here into a dangerous facility to fight alone.

And worst of all? You are there, Standing in the middle of them.

Arthur is horrified, He can only just stand there staring for a straight minute while he processes what was happening. The order had sent kids here, Used child soldiers.

They were using kids, Just like they did in Section Thirteen.

Instantly his demeanour switches up. The sadistic, Serious monster that was going to kill them instantly mellows down. His expression softening almost with pity as he looks at you all, Concerned even.

You might of forgotten him, If only for a little while. But Arthur certainly remembers you.

He's missed you this entire time, His apprentice, The one who couldn't do no wrong and the one that didn't deserve what The Order would do to you. Arthur regrets not being able to take you and your brothers with him that night.

But now he has a chance to change that. Arthur instantly gawks at the sight of all the Exwires below him. Getting angry as to why they were sent out here alone, Who authorised it and why there were no adults around.

You get angry at him, Demanding to know why Arthur defected and Arthur just responds with saying how The Order is corrupt and evil.

The rest of the Exwires hold no time back as they start to fight him. Bon and Yukio starting to fire their weapons while Izumo and Shiemi send out their familiars. You and Rin rush into the frontlines, Baring your weapons as you begin to attack.

Despite his transformation, Arthur is still Arthur at his core and retains most of his personality. Most importantly his delusional yandere traits.

As soon as you all attack him it just makes it worse. These kids have been traumatised! They've been used by the order as weapons and are acting out of fear! How horrible this is, Arthur needs to save them.

Arthur believes you and the Exwires just need to be shown some love, His tendencies spreading to not just you but to the rest of your friends as well. Arthur won't take any other explanation. You're all so scared, He needs to save you all.

I'd also headcannon his traits also mixing in with his demonic instincts too. He's grown lonely, And him being a clone of a demon king has subconsciously made him search for kin of his own to rule and protect.

And Arthur wants to protect you all, He wants to keep you safe. So you and the rest of the Exwires are a perfect fit.

So when Arthur manages to lock Rin in a chokehold, Sheathe Kurikara and hold him hostage. You all back away, Terrified of what Arthur might do to him.

Arthur doesn't say a word as his hands move to specific pressure points on his body. Behind the ears, Atop his head. Mostly giving affection in the form scratches and pets.

Though Rin struggles, He starts to feel himself melt. Arthur's learned in his time as a demon that other demon's have certain weak points, Places where they could lower their defences. It didn't help that Rin was exhausted from the fight before, Giving in to the affection.

You all watch horrified as Rin starts to melt in Arthurs hold. Arthur takes no time in telling you all that'd you'd be much safer/protected with him, That he only wants to help and you shouldn't be afraid of him.

Rin, Mumbles in agreement. Rin is tired, He's been through a lot both with the previous arcs and the death of Shiro. It's been tough, And for some reason this feels nice, Feels like he's being loved. Maybe this isn't so bad, I mean he use to be our friend! He can't be that bad..

You and the rest of the Exwires are horrified as Rin falls for Arthur's words. But you can't do anything as if they attack Arthur then they have a chance of hurting Rin.

Arthur has gained the yandere trait of manipulative once he becomes a demon. Easily playing to Rin's demonic instincts as he taunts the rest of the Exwires with how good of a guardian he could be! He knows what he's doing as Rin finally passes out, Still held tight within Arthurs arms.

He'd target you specifically, Asking if you still care for him as your master. If you still look up to him and trust him with your life. You can't answer him, Conflicted as he's still the man you admire, The man who taught you everything you knew.

He asks Yukio if he still trusts the order, If he still listens to his superiors without question. Yukio who is still conflicted from earlier events cannot answer.

The rest of the Exwires are faced with questions of their own. If Izumo still has anyone to go back to, If Bon and Konekomaru still have good home lives, If Shiemi is so willing to be taken advantage of by the order.

Arthur finally gives you all an ultimatum. You and the other Exwires come with him and Rin doesn't get harmed. If you don't, Rin will be taken away alone, At the mercy of whatever demon might get to him.

You and the others have no choice, Rin would have an easier time escaping if all of you were there and not just him. You're all exhausted, Unable to fight and for some reason you feel like Arthur wouldn't take a no even if that was your final answer.

So you go with him, Arthur activating some knock-out gas in the laboratory systems. You all fall unconscious and Arthur takes no time in collecting your bodies, Dragging you all off somewhere else.

Somewhere you all won't be escaping for a long time now.

Evil Dead Rise...but gayer

Okay but imagine Ellie aka Maggot Mommy clapping eyes on you and yes there´s this urge to chase and rip and eat your soul and all (she´s still an evil ancient entity after all) but there´s also something else. And she/it doesn´t know what it is because she/it is an evil ancient entity which absolutely thrives on being a lil shithead just for the fun of it (that´s what I love most about Maggot Mommy and it´s what makes her stand out from other deadites imo).

Anyhow, Maggot Momma sees you, sprints towards you, only to stop inches away from your face and start sniffing you. Like, really sniffing you. All over.

It´s starting to get a bit uncomfortable and weird af actually and maybe now´s a good time to get the f outta there but jokes on you - you´re already being carried off, none too gently mind you (Maggot Momma still gotta learn how to human aight so leave her alone) and promptly plonked onto the floor in Ellie´s apartment. And while Deadite Mommy´s still thinking about her choices here (those being: eating you now or later) you snap out of it and actually try to make a run for it.

Only, you failed to notice there´s a whole fucking family of undead…whatever they are. Leering at you, creeping closer, coming way too close and suddenly they´re on top, all snapping teeth and snarling in your face and JUST when you thought this is it-

Maggot Momma´s set her eyes on you first and she WILL start whoopin some asses if the family even thinks about touching what isn´t theirs to devour.

So as the family scuttles off with their tails between their legs (cause Deadite Momma rules) only you and Deadite Ellie remain. But you´re still alive and kicking (for now), so I guess that´s a good thing (kinda)?

I just really LOVE this concept of evil, otherworldly creatures absolutely thriving on wreaking havoc and committing murder left and right. I LOVE evil entities being truly evil and staying true to who they are and what makes them so ASDFNSADFLASDF. They´re just pure evil and long for utter chaos and destruction…except when it comes to a certain someone. When it comes to them it´s more like (not so) little shit mode activated with a healthy dose of “I licks it, I keeps it” and JUST the right amount of sweetness (that being: looking at you rather unimpressed when you reprimand them for brutally slaughtering someone, again.)

Also, they can be the biggest pain in the ass, my god- (you kinda adore it though, almost).

(Btw, Maggot Mommy trying to bring that eyeball back up looked JUST like my cats when they´re about to absolutely explode after they´ve eaten too much cat grass. it´s actually kind of…adorable? Lmao.)

So here you are and for some reason, this demon has deemed you worthy enough to keep around for a bit longer and maybe it´s your smell that ended up being your saving grace or maybe it´s something totally different. Either way, somehow you´ve found your way right into the clutches of this family of…undead beings (zombies?) and The Mother is quite pleased indeed…

So yeah, I guess you could see this as some kind of Tarzan/Jane story? Just really (really) fucked up? And Deadite Momma is trying (and failing miserably) to human.

So, after some really, really, really long time has passed you´ve come to realize you might not get munched on after all. Maggot Momma still gotta learn the basics of human behavior though, like personal space wha-? (You indulge her moods most of the time though since you quite like being alive and all and you´d rather it stayed that way…)

And it´s even better when Maggot Momma ain´t realizing she´s doing it. With time, being neck-deep into whatever part of you has become sort of a natural response whenever her human is near. Which happens to be quite often since there´s only so much space to be had when you gotta share it with a family of evil ancient entities who hear and see it all. (Taking a piss has never been more uncomfortable.)

Most times, Maggot Mommy is being extra touchy feely just because she knows it makes you feel hella weirded-out (and some other things) though. She´s still a lil shithead after all and that´s why we love her.

Aight so, things have somewhat calmed down a bit (meaning: you´re not in danger of being eaten alive anymore) and the Deadite!Kids have decided that playing “pranks” on you is a good way to pass time. Pranks that give you nightmares. Like sitting in front of you. In the middle of the night. Unblinking. Wearing a grin rivalling Cheshire Cat´s. And what´s with their neck-

But fear not, for Momma´s there to soothe your fears. And she´s trying, she really is.

But it doesn´t really help your case when Maggot Momma´s speaking to you oh so sweetly in her dark, sultry, demonic voice while the remains of some poor soul - foolish (or brave?) enough to wander her territory - are still sticking to her face, between her teeth, that breath my god-

So after attempting to calm you down, Momma´s decided now´s a good time for that promised ass whoopin.

Which doesn´t help in calming you down either since Deadite!Momma reprimanding her Deadite!Kids for scaring the absolute crap outta you (something only SHE gets to do) sounds like hell itself has opened up to swallow you whole. In other words: it does not sound pretty, at all.

The kids try to make it up to you though. They start to provide for you, even. Only, leg hasn´t exactly been on the menu for you (yet) and that severed head they brought you today didn´t do much for you either.

You actually excused yourself for a minute to go to the bathroom. You´re not planning on coming back out any time soon.

AITA for ditching a competent therapist?

It happened a few years ago and it's always bugged me because since her I have not found a better therapist.

This therapist was suggested to me by someone, they worked really hard to find her. We don't live in a country where therspy is common, let alone cheap. Our diagnostic criteria are all outdated. Doctors and nurses don't give a shit about mental health, we're raised emotionally bankrupt as a nation imo.

So anyways I go to this therapist, she charms me, talks to me like no one has before, listens when I say I'm queer instead of dismissing which is surprising. My problem at the time was depression and suicidal ideation, couldn't get put of bed on some days. She asks small questions like do I eat regularly, do I date etc. I come home and feel like I gave up a lot of sectets.

The next session she tells me about her achievements, how many awards she's received (I wasn't doing well academically), how her son is in USA with a big job (I told her I couldn't get a big paying job with my degree if I even manage to complete it). Advice, suggestions, lot more small vague questions. Come out feeling elated, back home feeling violated.

Third session, she hints at how I'm not doing enough not trying enough to be the breadwinner of my family. True, I did have a hard time studying so I picked easy courses but they'd not pay me well. This isn't a country where I can get an easy little restaurant job or become an artist. Being depressed I didn't expect to live long enough to become breadwinner in the first place. Then she tells me about her other patient, one whose career got sabotaged by a rival who raped her. She said she couldn't disclose their identity because this was a high profile case. This time I said it's probably better to compare me with her. To which she replied yes true but she was just giving an example of how much suffering people can survive.

After that session some bad things happened at my college and personal life which put me back in bed, couldn't walk outside for a couple weeks. In that time I decided to not see this therapist again. I asked someone else to inform her but didn't check. Unfortunately I never found another therapist I could afford who would be better. This was pre-covid. I'm much better now. But I still feel like that was a dumb ahole move, I was paranoid about her spying on me and telling on me. She was generous and nice to me, I cut her out told everyone she was a bad therapist. I feel awful about that, it was childish.
