Caught the newest ep to The apothecary diaries, met Lady Shenmai and I went 'yup that is the face of a dumb bitch trying to make a grab for power that will be brutually hanged by the end of this arc'

We still have no idea why they kidnapped Maomao and when that happens. I always deafult back to- this is 1000% for power to get the upper hands over someone.

The Apothecary Diaries: The newest imperial baby is a lot harder to assassinate via poison than previous children.

Yin Zhiqiang prided himself in his care.

If a job needed doing, he would do it with care, making sure it was done correctly. That was how he rose through the ranks of the military, earning himself a good position in the palace itself.

Poisoning would be no different.

His sister, Yin Yanlin, had attempted to be made a concubine of the new emperor. She had actually asked for the arranged marriage, which Zhiqiang couldn't blame her for- the new emperor was gorgeous, with a beauty that could only be matched by the gods.

However, he had refused. Actually refused! He stated that his wife was enough for him, regardless of the issues that could come. Yanlin had come home in tears from the gentle rejection.

That had sealed it. Zhiqiang would make the emperor regret this.

He had been unsure of how to, though. Murdering the emperor was too risky, and the wife was too revealing. (There were also rumors that she enjoyed eating poison, which was crazy.)

And then came the news.

The empress had birthed a healthy baby boy.

A target was revealed. Zhiqiang made the arrangements needed, including arranging a cousin to join the rear palace as a servant. When everything was done and arranged, he sat back and prepared to wait. The rear palace was known for the unfortunate death of the former emperor's children. It would make sense that this same misfortune would pass onto his son.

And he waited.

And he waited.

And he waited...

No news of the prince dying came. No reports of any arrests came.

It was as though the poison he had given his cousin had disappeared into the ether.

Zhiqiang shook his thoughts off and focused. He was at an important party. He needed to ignore the fact that the bastard and bitch who made his sister cry sat together, talking, the bitch cradling her healthy baby boy in his arms. Instead, he needed to-

Something made him look up. He wasn't sure what it was.

It was in time to see a sneaky, evil smile spread across the empress's smile.
