Macabre Month 7 Part III: Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)
In today's review, I find that few things are more extreme than Vampires. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2008 film, Lost Boys: The Tribe #TadHilgenbrink #AngusSutherland #AutumnReeser #CoreyFeldman #GabrielleRose #ShaunSipos #MerwinMondesir
There are things you’d just like to carry on forever, some hobbies that still give us a thrill whether two years on or ten. Sometimes, life goes on. The bittersweet sting of change forces us out of some pastimes. However, what if we could continue, what price would be too much then? In 2008, 21 years after its iconic firsts, the tales of vampiric youth and surfing continued in Lost Boys: The…

Friedberg and Seltzer at the Movies Part 5: Disaster Movie (2008)
In today's review, I do more than just flirt with disaster, as I attempt a #positive review of the 2008 disaster movie parody, Disaster Movie #MattLanter #VanessaLachey #CristaFlanagan #NicoleParker #KimKardashian #IkeBarinholtz #CarmenElectra #TonyCox
Recent events might have brought home how precarious our place is, civilization could be wiped out by a cold, or a meteorite, or even a hitherto unfulfilled prophecy. And as I noted before, this has been the topic of media obsession for some time. When faced with our obliteration, as other media products have graphically shown, all you can do is laugh. In 2008, the partnership of Friedberg and…

The Hills Run Red will be released on Blu-ray on June 16 via Scream Factory. Special features for the 2009 slasher film will be announced at a later date.
Dave Parker (Tales of Halloween) directs from a script by David J. Schow (The Crow). Sophie Monk, Tad Hilgenbrink, Janet Montgomery, Alex Wyndham, William Sadler, and Danko Jordanov star.
You heard the story. The one about the goriest, bloodiest splatter flick ever, the one made in the '80s but mysteriously lost. Flash forward to now: Young cinema buffs search for the secret location where the movie was shot, hoping to find the film. What they find is that the goriest, bloodiest splatter flick ever is more than a movie. It's real. And it's happening to them. The Hills Run Red vaults into a whole new level of horror as the terrified interlopers confront a demented killer who covers his hacked-up face with a baby doll mask. Wait, Babyface is just a character from the movie, right? Wrong. He's alive. He's waiting. He's thrilled to meet fans who will die – slowly, gruesomely, shockingly – for his art.

July 29, 2008 - Lost Boys: The Tribe premiered on video in the US.
The horror comedy was directed by P.J. Pesce and written by Hans Rodionoff. It stars Tad Hilgenbrink, Angus Sutherland, Autumn Reeser and Corey Feldman.
Fun fact: Despite poor reviews, it was Warner Premiere’s highest selling DVD of 2008 and covered its $5 million budget in the first three weeks of release.

The Lost Boys: The Tribe
Tumblr media
#375
The Lost Boys The Tribe was released straight to DVD and Blu Ray in 2008 and was directed by P.J. Pesce. His biggest credits are being part of the soundtrack for Spy Kids and working on the Tremors TV series. The film stars Corey Feldman, Angus Sutherland and Tad Hilgenbrink.
Former surfer Chris and his sister Nicole move to Luna Bay to start over without housing expenses with their Aunt, but she charges rent to them for a beaten up old house, and Chris seeks a job to raise money for the expenses. in town, he meets former surfer Shane that invites Chris to a late night surf parting, little does he know that these are a group of vampires.
Just as ‘The Lost Boys’ was one of the best movies in the 80s and one of my favourite movies of all time, this movie is one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen.
The movie feels very lazily put together, the editing is sloppy and the dialogue is absolutely horrible.
The film doesn’t really try to touch new ground, it takes the original movie’s plot and just adds some surfing sub plot that doesn’t feel like anything vampire related, because apparently vampires like to go surfing, yeah that makes total sense, remember that time we saw Christopher Lee hit the waves? no? oh yeah because it didn’t fucking happen!
There is clearly some Dusk till dawn influence in this movie, and it has the same vibe in terms of it feeling like a TV movie.
Corey Feldman is in this movie, reprising his role from the original, and it feels seriously desperate, i am sure that this movie was made for those diehard fans that just wanted more Lost Boys and more Feldman and there seems to be an audience for the movie, but that audience is not me.
☆ One of the worst films i’ve ever seen, the editing is poor, the dialogue is horrible and the plot is diabolical and recycled.

Besides the four theatrical American Pie movies, the franchise also spawned a number of spinoffs, and a few past characters returned for them. Every decade has its iconic teen-centered movies, often focusing on the ups and downs of the high school experience, the struggle with puberty and growing into adulthood, and of course the quest to become successful with one’s preferred type of romantic partner. In the 1990s, the arguable king of teen movies was American Pie, which is a bit ironic, since it arrived at the tail end of the decade in 1999.
While American Pie drew a lot of its initial attention due to the amount of swearing, crass humor, and sexual content included within its running time, many moviegoers eventually came to realize that there was more under the surface. The major characters were mostly likable and easy to root for, they often had to overcome relatable young adult problems, and there was a surprising amount of heart to be found when pies weren’t being made love to.

An enormous hit, making $235 million on an $11 million budget, American Pie naturally spawned a movie franchise, albeit one where few would argue the original was ever in danger of being topped. Still, the theatrical sequels at least had the benefit of most of the original American Pie cast and characters continuing to return, making fans feel comfortable and at home. The direct-to-video spinoff movies didn’t generally have that luxury, although there were a few cases of characters from the main series crossing over.
Tumblr media
Noah Levenstein, more commonly referred to as just Jim’s dad, is played by prolific comic actor Eugene Levy, and has appeared in some fashion in nearly every single American Pie spinoff released to date. He only didn’t return for American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules. For those keeping score, that means Jim’s dad returned for Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House, and The Book of Love, nearly always in some type of authority figure role.
Tumblr media
Played by Chris Owen, Chuck “The Sherminator” Sherman spent the original movie falsely bragging about his prowess with the ladies, only to get found out. By American Pie 2 though, Sherman had reversed his fortunes in that department, and by American Reunion, he was a divorced father. Sherman appeared in the American Pie Presents Band Camp spinoff, working as the guidance counselor at East Great Falls High.
Tumblr media
Of the three original American Pie movie characters to return for the spinoffs, Matt Stifler holds the distinction of being the only one to change actors along the way. Eli Marenthal, who also voiced Hogarth in The Iron Giant in the same year, played Steve Stifler’s younger brother in the first two American Pie movies. Tad Hilgenbrink took over as Matt Stifler for American Pie Presents Band Camp, the leading role in the film. In Band Camp, Matt gets sent to the titular location by guidance counselor Sherman.
