A Quick Guide to the Minor Arcana

Wands: Wands represent creation, excitement, and power. When I think of this suit, I think of hobbies and passions. Wands is an element that embodies confidence, creativity, and ambition. In contrast, wands can indicate a warning of impulsivity or lack of direction.

Cups: Like the water that may flow from them, our emotions are fluid and forever changing. Water can be calm, and water can be strong and raging. The suit of cups is strongly associated with relationships with others and our own emotions.

Though it is important to have an understanding of our feelings, cups can also warn of letting our emotions “overflow” when it comes to decision making.

Pentacles: This is a very grounded suit representing tangible resources and aspects of life. Pentacles can indicate a focus on finances and work. Pentacles are rooted in stability, and this suit can be very reassuring to see in a reading related to monetary goals.

This suit is not perfect though and can indicate a focus needed when it comes to sharing the “wealth”.

Swords: The swords are the conscious parts of our mind where our thoughts, intelligence, and communication are depicted. This suit can exist in any aspect of life and may depict internal and external conflicts, difficulties, and battles.

The individual meaning of the numbers may vary from deck to deck, but this is an aproximate, avrage interpretation of what is most commonly used.

Note than the Court Cards MAY denote a person of the qualities of the card comming into the life of the one you read for --but not always.

As with all Tarot Reading, it is up to you --the Tarot Reader-- to interpret what every card means.

And --equally important-- to interpret what each card means in relation to every OTHER card in the Draw --connecting them to a Whole. And find the Main Message in the Reading.

4 Stability, structure, foundation

5 Conflict, challenge, a need to leave the old to achieve the new

8 Balance, stagnation, focus, infinity

9 Nearing completion, final reflection, passing on wisdom

10 Completion, consolidation, new beginning

Queen Nurturing, subtle, intuitive, the epitome of it's Suit

King Mastery, stability, power, the epitome of it's Suit

Note: The King and Queen is the Perfection of their Suit (Wand, Pentacle, Sword, Cup), and embodies the uttermost pinnacle of what that Suit represents, more so than ANY other card within that Suit.

(So the Queen of Cups will be extremely warm and emotional, while the Queen of Swords will be cold and calculating, as an example.)

A little tarot exercise to amplify your intuition! Let's see what's blocking our inner eye.

The High Priestess is all about tuning in to our intuition. For this exercise, set the following intention for this reading with the prompts below before shuffling. Then shuffle the tarot deck thoroughly and flip the deck over so that the card images are facing you. Find The High Priestess card. The card below it (before it) will reveal what’s blocking your intuition. The card on top (after it) will show you how to tune into your intuition on a deeper level. Or if you prefer, you can pull out The High Priestess card and pull a card for each of these prompts to make a 3 card spread with The High Priestess as the middle card.

So this is from The Tarot Playbook by Lynda Cowles (page 154). You see what is wrong and then give a solution. It just so happened my cards just delivered with a great example!

You could start with you are too.....and end with you need to.....

Another example I drew the 5 of pentacles and 3 of cups ... I said you are dehydrated and need to drink more water.

Pull a couple of cards and see what you get!

What kind of things should i write down when i record my tarot pulls? like obviously the day and the cards, but are there other things i should write that might be useful?

Things To Record About A Tarot Reading

The date

The deck or decks you used

Why you're doing this reading

What you asked/thought before pulling cards

Cards you pulled

How you pulled them, was it purposeful or did the card fall out, ect

If the cards were upright or reversed

If you do a more complex spread, list the exact positions of the cards, draw a chart if necessary

If the cards have been pulled in other readings, if so list when & any thoughts you have on what that might mean

Patterns & little noteworthy things, were there cards of the same number or suit? Were two cards looking at each other? ect.

Overall meanings of the cards

Meanings, words or lines from a guide book that stuck out to you

What you specifically think they mean/intuitive feelings you got about what they mean for you

Just some ideas! All of this has gone into my notes before & I've found it very useful.

Even though ive had this deck for a while now, and have interviewed it before, it wasnt until a few months ago i really started connecting with it and using it everyday, keeping it at least in the same room with me at most times. so here’s my deck interview spread!   Please comment anything additional you feel they might be saying to me! as I’m still pretty new and woud love to find people to talk about it and practice with! 1.) Decribe yourself- Three of Cups Reversed   I feel that this is saying that this deck is quiet, reserved, introverted, but enjoys time spent together, willing to converse and communicate to form a bond. very welcoming.(so when i looked up the meaning of the card it means ‘a break’ of some sort. does that mean my deck wants me to stop using it?) 2.) What type of reading are you best suited for?- Eight of Swords ReversedI feel that this is telling me that this deck is suited for revealing what’s been lost, revealing secrets, personal journey, release 3.) What are your strengths? - Six of wandsmotivation, moving onward with passion, helping finish what has been started 4.) What are your weaknesses? -Five of Wandsbeing overwhelmed, prodded. maybe im asking too many questions? or the deck is drawn to conflict? 5.)
