i think the reason why thunderbolts works so well is that the team is like 80% legacy heroes/ knock off avengers but they’re all old enough to remember when princess diana died
#don’t get me wrong I love my kid heroes#Kamala khan and Kate bishop my beloveds#but it’s actually quite fun to have a cast of characters grappling with carrying (or failing to carry) a legacy#but they can also like vote and stuff#rather than greatness being thrust upon them they’ve had to actively choose it#not like a kid ‘answers the call’ but a grown up going ‘god fucking dammit fine’#some in memory of loved ones (yelena/bucky)#others coming to terms with the fact they’ll never be the OG (John walker)#(I’d put red guardian with John too but he’s having too much fun to be burdened by it)#even Bob - he’s literally supposed to be a whole avengers team at once#but he’s also a grown man#a troubled dude in need of a support system but very much an adult#the only exception is ghost#but she’s still a grown woman trying to figure out where she fits but in a ‘30 something still flat sharing’ kind of way#in fact I’d argue the reason why she sticks out a bit in the cast is her character doesn’t quite have the same legacy to live up to#but she still has common ground as a fellow human experimentation/ childhood trauma survivor thing#idk there’s an interesting emotional maturity to the cast even when they’re bickering and quipping and feeling the big sad#tldr I like it when legacy hero’s are less starry eyed/teen angsty and more ‘okay okay I guess I’ll have to do it Jesus Christ’#brb gonna go have some thoughts about where mcu Sam Wilson fits in all this#mcu#thunderbolts#spoilers#actually not sure if Bucky remembers when lady di died technically but you get my point

I'm 35,000 words into writing a longfic about the Batman/Bruce/Matches DID system and I'm obsessed with it. It includes Bat/Joker, Bruce/Harvey, and Matches/Harv and the differences in each of those dynamics is 🤌

#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu#Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu vol. 2#Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu 2024#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#Tigra#Greer Grant#*Jonathan Frakes in Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction? voice* there was a sewer man#My Spider-Man (2017) homies know that this is just Marc returning to his natural habitat#but for real though technically this is a pretty typical «things were getting a little too comfortable and smooth and easy for the hero#so now it’s time to arbitrarily and completely blow up his entire life» storyline#but I’m pretty intrigued by how they’re choosing to go about it#I guess it’s because they’re walking a pretty fine line and not going overboard on trying to send Marc to the absolute «rock bottom»#they already killed him and bankrupted him in his last run so they can’t take that away from him#but I also I appreciate that they didn’t choose to go the complete grimdark route nor did they kill off/fridge any characters#this is most likely roaming into personal opinion territory but Marc’s already been at the bottom a couple times in his super hero career#including the (in)famous eponymous arc that I will be forever grateful if no MK writer ever tries to recreate#and it would be pretty wild to spend 2 volumes emphasizing the importance of this support system just to start killing them off#I can understand if people are tired of this type of storyline and/or consider this a particularly tepid way of approaching it#but in my frankly inconsequential opinion I’m just glad I’m not getting bludgeoned with hackneyed attempts at angst/tension for drama’s sak#the writer’s succeeded; I like these characters and I’m glad they mostly made it out in one piece (and that MK’s back in the sewers hahaha)

kind of fucking weird to come out of a almost five and a half hour long power outage only to find out that your grandaunt passed on Thursday. indescribable feeling i'll tell you that
#i knew in my spirit somehow before i saw the message though. don't ask. you won't understand unless you've lived it#we uh. well. that side of the family wasn't exactly close so ig i'm not as torn up about it as i would have been if we were in regular#contact but i had wanted to speak with her for a while. just to hear some stories fill some shit in on the family tree etc etc#think i had reached out to her daughter through one of my uncles (her daughter. like said daughter isn't technically my first cousin#funny how that works) but she wasn't able to get back to me in time and then. yeah. huh#realistically i should be feeling some kind of grief rn but it's not coming. it's just 'well. fuck. she's gone. there go the ancestors'#i hope she rests well. i hope all my family members on that side aren't so fucked up they can't function. i hope they have a support#system. i hope they put up her obituary so i can look through and say that's my grandaunt and feel the briefest sense of connection#go in peace auntie.

#beloved villainxcivilian wip. i need to draw you#post unrelated to previous few. mostly#if anyone's reading this post and curious: vague superhero/villain-containing setting; mc is a woman who gets out of a shit relationship#w a local hero by selling his work laptop to a local villain and using the money to flee the province/whatever with her cat & suitcase.#gets set up w a tiny apartment. barely leaves. severe anxiety that she's gonna be tracked down by either her ex or the villain to tie up lo#loose ends#eventually unwinds enough to leave; takes a 3rd shift at an ancient tiny library with old archives#local supervillain (not that she knows at first) becomes a repeat visitor looking over the old city blueprints and hwhatnot on file#eventually unwinds enough to start a mayyybe situationship#he's not blind she's clearly very distrusting n nervous even if she's got a crazy good customer service face so he's very slow abt it#lets her set the pace of whatever they're doing#which simultaneously reassures her and makes her nervous#because it could be a mask. it could be a trap. she literally has no way to really know#gets worse when the truth about his profession comes out#mental breakdown. lots of yelling. butter knife brandished like a weapon (<- taken very seriously)#once shit settles a lot of time is dedicated to figuring out how they want to continue this. if they want to#given that there is realistically a crazy power dynamic between them. she's an immigrant who had to uproot herself from literally everyone#and everything she knows and has; has no support system in a country she is technically not legally supposed to be in;#he is very influential; having both notable scores of money socked away and a potentially a mole in the local policing force#if he wanted to make her disappear in one way or another it would not be difficult for him#much how her ex was becoming. extremely overbearing so to speak#so Yah trying to navigate that. very serious discussions if they can make that work out or if they should split#bc i want a happy ending i think they make it work! not sure about the specifics but theyre good#i think he doesnt realize how badly shes fucked up until at some point after The Breakdown he puts together that she's the reason the hero#in a few provinces away got completely Fucked by the local villain scene#and putting that together with her severe anxiety and not-great living situation. why she would've possibly done that#anyways. the inspiration for this all was mostly out of distaste for most of the romantasy books i have to see in various fandom tags#male love interest who doesn't really respect boundaries VS. m.l.i. who is extremely respectful of boundaries while managing to remain a vi#villain by the laws of the genre/setting/otherwise plot#(and asking the question of what does villainy mean in this context)
