Get to know the blogger ✨
Shout out to @popyandshit for the tag! 💖
3 ships I like:
Soukoku (obviously—have you seen my blog? 😉) HoriMiya (their dynamic is so similar to my partner and I! 💕) Aaah there are too many to choose from so- Hua Cheng/Xie Lian
First ship ever:
Ooh, this is a tough one! The first anime I ever watched was Naruto, so I guess SasuSaku? Older me feels a bit embarrassed about that… quickly replaced by ShikaTema😂 you know a more healthy option
Favorite childhood book:
If we consider “childhood” as prepubescent teen, then it has to be Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I've read it a million times, and something about Patch had my heart aflutter—It was my first taste of morally-grey love interests. And let me tell you, it was a slippery slope from there, diving headfirst into a world of complicated romances! 😍
Currently reading:
I’m currently working my way through the BSD manga and other works, along with Apothecary Diaries and the entire Ana Huang universe! 📚💫
Currently watching:
Apothecary Diaries (I tend to tandem watch anime/manga) 🎥 House MD (suddenly into medical dramas! 🏥) BSD is always on repeat, of course! 🔄
Currently consuming:
Ham... it’s all I had left in the fridge... but payday is soon! 🍖
Currently craving
Carbs and fast food—Pepe's is sounding delicious right now!🍟
Pets:
Alright, brace yourselves for this pet lineup—I've got a leopard gecko, a crested gecko, a garter snake, two ball pythons, and of course, a fabulous cat! 😸 It’s a full house, and they each have their own unique personalities that keep life interesting!
Taging Mutuals:
@itsandyhere @sugareimon @sticker-mania @imgoingtoeatyourskin @monsterswithinme @ohhcinnybuns
No pressure, of course! Just sharing the fandom love! <3 Can’t wait to see your responses! 😊

as a kid, i remember seeing stuff like mrs doubtfire, certain monty python characters, cis women with deep voices like bea arthur, the pictures of that one ranch(? i think I'm misremembering) full of older drag queens and trans women having brunch, etc, and i remember thinking, "huh, the line blurs as you age." to me, a little egg, this was somehow encouraging. on average, humans are at their most sexually dimorphic during their teen & young adult years. the older you get, the less expectation there is that you'll "pass". this doesn't mean the pressure goes away -- cis people go to great lengths to avoid aging! but for me, it's nice to know i won't have to worry about it as much.
When it comes to the hormonal effects of menopause (and dropoffs in T levels that come with aging for older men) this is quite literally true! Though of course more and more cis people go on HRT as they age these days

"Did you seriously just quote Monty Python while you're lying here bleeding?"
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Derek Hale, Alan Deaton Additional Tags: Future Fic, Established Relationship, Mates, Hurt/Comfort, Pack Alpha Derek Hale, Injured Stiles Stilinski, Monster of the Week, Blood and Injury, POV Stiles Stilinski, Canon-Typical Violence, Fandom Trumps Hate 2024
Summary:
[excerpt] The sudden shift sent a prickle of unease running down Stiles's spine as he followed Derek's gaze, scanning the parking lot. The peaceful atmosphere had shifted. They were no longer alone. "What do you—" See, he wanted to ask, but Derek cut him off with a warning growl, pushing Stiles back. Stiles rolled his eyes. While he loved Derek's protectiveness, he also hated when Derek got all overprotective. It reminded him of the pool incident when they faced the Kanima, and Derek shoved him back, trying to keep him out of harm's way. But he could handle himself, dammit! He'd more than proved that over the years; however, before he could argue, a figure emerged from the shadows, stalking toward them, revealing an eerie mirror image of Derek. What the actual fuck? Stiles's mind reeled in disbelief at the sight of the doppelganger, struggling to comprehend what was happening. "Uh…please tell me you have a secret twin I didn't know about."
The sky was dark when they left the diner, the moon blocked by heavy clouds. A chill hung in the air, and Stiles smiled when a hand pressed on the small of his back, guiding him toward the parking lot. Even though they'd been together for ten years now, it was something he always did—like Derek needed that connection, no matter how small. The warmth of Derek's palm sent a tingle through Stiles's body, goosebumps rising on his skin.
"Did you want to head straight home?" Derek asked, his hand leaving Stiles's back to intertwine their fingers.
Stiles gave Derek's hand a gentle squeeze, savoring the familiar touch. "Yeah. I'm ready to crash after today."
It'd been a long day at the Sheriff's Department. A typical day included patrolling and responding to calls, but today had been busier than usual with four bank robberies. Four! What made it worse was that Stiles knew something supernatural was at play. Each bank claimed the person robbing them was an employee, but every suspect had an airtight alibi, including one who had been in the hospital for a planned surgery.
Stiles sighed, ready to go home and curl up on the couch with Derek. Unwind. He'd get a good night's sleep and start fresh tomorrow, researching to try and figure out what was happening. Derek would help, of course. He always did, no matter how strange or difficult the supernatural problem they faced. It was the life they chose when they decided to stay in Beacon Hills, with a Nemeton drawing in whatever monster of the week that caused mayhem and chaos in their little town.
But Stiles wouldn't trade it for anything. This was his home, and Derek (and the pack) was his family. Together, they would face whatever came their way, just as they always had.
With a content sigh, he leaned into Derek's side. The soft glow of the streetlamps cast a warm light over the path, and the gentle rustling of leaves was soothing.
So, naturally, that was when everything went to shit.
Derek tensed beside him, squeezing his hand as he pulled Stiles to a stop. His nostrils flared, as if he scented something in the air, and his eyes burned alpha red.
The sudden shift sent a prickle of unease running down Stiles's spine as he followed Derek's gaze, scanning the parking lot. The peaceful atmosphere had shifted. They were no longer alone.
"What do you—"
See, he wanted to ask, but Derek cut him off with a warning growl, pushing Stiles back.
"Uh…please tell me you have a secret twin I didn't know about." Honestly, it wouldn't surprise Stiles if that were the case. Hell, he didn't know about Cora until she'd shown up in Beacon Hills, so Stiles wouldn't put it past Derek to have a secret twin. But the feral growl rumbling from Derek's chest told him this was no long-lost sibling. This was a threat, and Derek was ready to protect him at all costs.
The figure stalked closer, its movements predatory and unnatural. Stiles's heart raced as he recognized the same intense alpha glow in the doppelganger's eyes. He could only hope that was where their similarities ended—that whatever this shapeshifting creature was, it didn't somehow possess the same strength, speed, and abilities as Derek.
Stiles swallowed hard, his mind racing for a way to help Derek. But before he could voice his plan, the doppelganger lunged forward, claws outstretched. Derek roared, shifting into his beta form as he met the creature's attack head-on—fangs bared, claws extended, eyes blazing with rage. The sound of their clashing filled the empty parking lot, and Stiles was determined to find a way to help Derek before one of them was seriously injured.
He sprinted toward Derek's Camaro, hand outstretched to open the trunk, where his trusty bat was stashed. But before he could reach it, a sharp pain shot through his side as the doppelganger's claws raked across his flesh. Stiles cried out, his urgency mounting as he stumbled and clutched the wound.
"Fuck!" Blood streamed through Stiles's fingers as he fell to his knees.
Derek's fury was palpable as he shifted into his full alpha form, fur rippling across his body, his clothes falling to tatters on the ground. He lunged at the doppelganger, now a hulking black wolf, and sank his teeth into its shoulder. It was like a scene straight out of a horror movie as the creature howled in pain, thrashing and clawing at Derek, but his grip was unyielding.
Of course, it was. The minute it had attacked Stiles, there was no way Derek would hold back—unleashing the full force of his alpha power. The creature didn't stand a chance.
Stiles watched in awe as Derek tore into the doppelganger until the creature's struggles grew weakerweakerweaker. Its bones cracked and popped, the sound sharp, until it finally went limp in Derek's hands. Its body morphed, claws falling away, hair receding from its face as it shifted back to what Stiles could only assume was its original form—a pale, sinewy alien-like creature with limbs just a bit too long, spindly fingers, sunken eyes, and sharp fangs.
Derek released it, chest heaving as he shifted back to his human form and rushed to Stiles, kneeling beside him. He gently examined Stiles's wound, his brow furrowed in worry, despite his own face and torso being streaked with blood. "Shit, this looks bad."
He pressed his hands against the deep gash on Stiles's side, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Tis but a scratch," Stiles said, the grimace on his face betraying the bravado in his voice. No one would blame him, considering the sharp and throbbing pain in his side. It distracted him enough that he couldn't even admire all the tan skin and muscles on display as he checked Derek over for injuries. But, naturally, all his wounds were already healing thanks to his supernatural abilities.
"Did you seriously just quote Monty Python while you're lying here bleeding?" Derek's eyes narrowed, his expression both concerned and exasperated, clearly not amused by Stiles's attempt at humor. "We need to get you to Deaton, now."
He scooped Stiles into his arms as if he weighed nothing—something that both irked and turned Stiles on. It reminded Stiles of the FBI raid from so long ago when he'd been injured and Derek had carried him to safety. It had been the catalyst for their relationship.
Usually, Stiles would put up a mild protest, which was more fond than anything, but not this time. Not when the movement jostled his side, making him wince. The adrenaline from the encounter was wearing off, leaving him drained. Or maybe that was the blood loss.
Either way, he leaned into Derek's embrace.
"Home. I wanna go home," Stiles murmured. All he wanted was their bed. To be surrounded by the comforts of home.
"But—" Derek started, but Stiles cut him off.
"Please, Derek. I just want to go home." Stiles's voice was soft, laced with exhaustion. He knew Deaton needed to check his wound, but the idea of their bed and the safety of their home was all he could focus on.
Derek hesitated for a moment, then sighed. As much as Stiles wanted to make a quip about having Derek wrapped around his little finger, it probably wasn't the best time, so he stayed silent.
"Fine," Derek said, shifting Stiles in his arms and hurrying toward the Camaro, "but I'm calling Deaton to meet us there."
Stiles sighed in relief, resting his head against Derek's chest until they reached the car. Derek gently placed him in the passenger seat, ensuring he was secure before rushing around the hood to the driver's side. The engine roared to life as Derek called Deaton, and he sped toward the preserve—toward home—his grip on the steering wheel tight with worry.
"I'm alright, big guy," Stiles promised. This wasn't the first time he'd been injured, and considering their lives, it definitely wouldn't be the last. But he knew that didn't make it any easier, not for Derek.
When they pulled into the driveway, Deaton wasn't there yet. Derek carefully helped Stiles out of the car and carried him to the house. Once inside, he left the front door unlocked and took Stiles to the living room, lying him down on the couch without a care in the world for the mess they would leave behind.
Derek carefully ripped Stiles' shirt off with his claws. His brows were pulled down in a frown as he examined Stiles's wound, his touch feather-light. Stiles winced slightly but knew Derek was doing his best to be gentle.
"We need to call my dad and the pack." That…thing…was still out there, and they couldn't just leave it for some unsuspecting person to find, dead or not. The people in town weren't stupid; they knew Beacon Hills was special, that there were things that went bump in the night. But as the saying went, ignorance was bliss.
"I'll let them know," Derek said, phone already in his hand.
His voice was a low murmur, and his eyes never left Stiles's face as he spoke with the Sheriff, filling him in on what had happened and assuring him that Stiles was okay.
Stiles reached up, taking Derek's hand and gently squeezing it in reassurance. He hated seeing him so distressed. His life had already been hard enough—a veritable shit show of trauma and loss. Stiles knew Derek blamed himself for every injury Stiles or the pack sustained, even when it wasn't his fault. He wished he could take away Derek's guilt—ease the burden on his mate's shoulders.
"Yeah, here he is." Derek handed Stiles the phone and mouthed, 'I'll be right back,' before heading into the kitchen.
Stiles managed to suppress a groan as he put the phone on speaker, already anticipating his father's worried lecture.
"I'm okay," he said before his father could launch into a tirade.
A familiar sigh came through the line, one that spoke of years of worry and frustration, and Stiles could picture his dad pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "You're always 'okay,' kid. But Derek said you were injured. Bleeding. That doesn't sound so 'okay.'"
"He's exaggerating, Dad. You know how Derek is. I get a papercut and he freaks out," Stiles said, trying to downplay the severity of his injury. "It's just a scratch, really. I'm fine. Derek's just being overprotective, as usual."
Stiles winced as he shifted on the couch, the pain in his side flaring up. "Okay, maybe it's a little more than a scratch, but Deaton'll get me all patched up and I'll be good as new."
"Stop moving," Derek chided, stepping out of the kitchen with a washcloth and a large bowl filled with water. He kneeled beside the couch and began gently cleaning Stiles's wound. It was a gnarly-looking gash, but Derek's touch was gentle and soothing. Black tendrils snaked up Derek's arm as he took Stiles's pain, leaving Stiles a little woozy.
He leaned into Derek's touch, relishing the comfort it provided. His father's worried voice continued on the line, but Stiles barely heard it, focused instead on Derek's gentle ministrations.
"Hey, Sheriff?" Derek interrupted. "Deaton just pulled up. I'll call you later, okay?"
Derek ended the call and turned his attention back to Stiles.
"Wait," Stiles's voice came out sluggish, a side effect of Derek's werewolf mojo. "First, you should put some pants on." Because Derek was still naked, and Stiles could be a possessive bastard. He didn't want anyone but him to see his mate's bare skin. "Also, I forgot to tell Dad that the thing, whatever it was—" he took a deep breath, then let it out in a gust "—was the thing. The…thing…the banks."
Because that made total sense. God, Derek taking his pain was better than any painkiller Stiles had ever taken—a magic morphine that fogged his brain.
"You think the shapeshifter was behind the bank robberies," Derek stated. Either because he knew Stiles well enough to follow his line of thinking or because Derek had a bad habit of avoiding inflection when asking questions.
"Yeah, that." Stiles made an appreciative sound as Derek walked over to the laundry basket sitting in the corner and pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a tank top.
"I'll let your dad know. Right now, I just want to make sure you're taken care of." Derek kissed his forehead as Deaton walked in the front door.
"How's my favorite patient?" Deaton asked, setting his bag on the coffee table.
"Don't lie. Your favorite patients are puppies and kittens," Stiles replied, wincing slightly as Deaton examined his wound. "Derek's taking good care of me."
Deaton chuckled, his skilled fingers probing the injury. "I bet he is, Mr. Stilinski. This looks like it needs a few stitches, but it's not too deep. You're a lucky one."
Derek hovered anxiously, watching Deaton's every move. "What do you know about other kinds of shapeshifters?"
"Was that what did this?" Deaton asked, a brow raised.
Stiles nodded. Despite his best efforts, a sharp hiss of air escaped his lips when Deaton began stitching the wound. "Yeah, but not like one I've ever seen or heard of before."
Stiles hissed again, then sighed as Derek's hand found his, the pain easing. "It looked alien, but it could shift into people. It looked like Derek. And I'm pretty sure it's been impersonating people all over town."
Deaton nodded, his brow furrowed in concentration as he worked. "I've heard of such creatures, though they are quite rare. And dangerous, considering they can mimic any person they encounter. As you discovered."
"Will he turn?" Derek asked, rubbing his thumb over his bottom lip.
That wasn't something Stiles had even considered, but now all he could think about were the different ways someone could be turned into a werewolf. One of which was being scratched. Not that Stiles had anything against being a werewolf, but he'd prefer it to be on his own terms.
Thankfully, Deaton shook his head. "No. For one, it's not deep enough. But even if it were, while the creature could transform and take a werewolf's beta form with claws and fangs, it's not an actual werewolf. The injury it inflicted will heal normally and without any supernatural effects."
Derek visibly relaxed at Deaton's reassurance.
Deaton finished stitching up the wound and applied a bandage. "There, all done. No showers or baths for the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours. I'd suggest a careful sponge bath if needed. Just take it easy for the next few days and let that heal."
"I'll make sure he rests," Derek said, his hand gently squeezing Stiles's. He turned to Deaton, his expression serious. "The Sheriff will be bringing the body to your clinic so you can examine it."
"Excellent. I'll take a look as soon as it arrives," Deaton replied, gathering his supplies. Once he was packed, he headed for the door. "Call me if you have any other concerns."
With a final nod, he left the house, leaving Derek and Stiles alone once more.
Derek turned his attention back to Stiles, his gaze filled with concern.
"How are you feeling?" he asked softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Stiles's forehead.
Stiles leaned into the touch, closing his eyes as he savored the comfort it provided. "Better. I told you I was okay, though."
"Yeah, well, your version of okay is different than mine."
"Your version would have me wrapped in bubble wrap and kept in a padded room," Stiles teased, cracking one eye open to look at Derek. "But I appreciate your concern. I know you worry, especially after everything that's happened. Anyway, are you okay?"
Tonight wasn't the first time Derek had killed someone, but Stiles knew that taking a life, even in self-defense, weighed heavily on Derek.
"I'm alright. And I'm not that bad." Derek trailed his fingertips across Stiles's brow, down his nose, and over his cupid's bow. The delicate touch sent tingles down Stiles's spine. "I love you, Stiles. You mean everything to me, and I just want to keep you safe."
And what could Stiles say to that except, "I love you, too."
Derek cupped his face, thumbs brushing his cheeks tenderly, and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to Stiles's lips, conveying the depth of his affection. "Don't fall asleep yet. Let's get you changed and into bed first."
"Think we can get the blood out?" Stiles asked, glancing at the couch as Derek helped him stand.
They probably could, but Stiles didn't really want to think about all that right now. He'd rather curl up beside Derek and sleep.
"I'll take care of it," Derek assured him, sweeping Stiles into his arms.
Now, Derek's strong arms cradled him as he carried Stiles to their bedroom and then into the ensuite bathroom, where he carefully undressed Stiles and cleaned him of any traces of blood with a washcloth. All Stiles had to do was stand there as Derek helped him into a soft T-shirt and sweatpants before guiding him to their bed.
"I'm going to clean myself up real quick," Derek whispered against his temple, taking a moment to inhale deeply, like he was breathing in Stiles's scent—something he always did. "Be right back."
Stiles sighed contentedly as Derek pulled the covers over him.
Derek was always so attentive and caring, definitely a change from the gruff and hardened exterior he used to project. A man who had once been a loner, now surrounded by a pack and a mate who loved him unconditionally.
Stiles snuggled deeper into the covers, the sheets soft and cool because Derek bought ridiculously expensive one hundred percent mulberry silk sheets with a momme weight of nineteen. He still wasn't sure what that meant.
His eyes drifted shut. "M'kay. I'll stay right here."
"You do that," Derek said with a chuckle, the sound fading as he walked into their ensuite bathroom. In the distance, the shower sputtered to life, and the soothing sound lulled Stiles into a light doze. But he woke when Derek returned, sliding into bed behind him and carefully pulling Stiles into his arms.
Stiles melted against Derek's warm, solid frame, feeling safe and content. He made a pleased sound and snuggled closer when Derek gently kissed the back of his head before breathing him in. "I love you."
The pain from his injury faded as Derek's warmth enveloped him, and Stiles smiled.
"And I love you," he breathed, letting the steady rhythm of Derek's heartbeat lull him into a peaceful sleep.

What do you mean by “I could see the graph?”
I mean the above statement quite literally, and strongly believe it’s a quirk many neurodivergent individuals share.
The phenomenon is best described using an analogy to the social “intuition” neurotypical people feel when meeting someone, that 6th-sense that says “this person is good/bad/going through something.” It’s a type of intuition I will never understand, yet I find the idea of it beautiful.
My original model for the graph was built around motivation to model “language,” specifically any phrases (in the highest level of abstraction, genuinely anything you want a “phrase” to be) organized on the relation of “meaning.” Specifically, we say a phrase has “meaning” if we can describe that phrase in terms of another distinct phrase. Otherwise, we say the phrase is “meaningless,” which is somewhat of a phrase itself…
Now, it’s probably quite obvious why I keep this initial motivation hushed; I sound crazy, especially given the deviation from many syntactic models of language used for years. I have no intention to continue with that motivation. However, the abstraction I’d developed made sense to me, and eventually I realized that the best way to model such a relationship was with a rooted graph.
This is where the “intuition” part comes in, like an animation in my mind, I could build the thing up, remove edges, alter the recursive step, anything; it was my personal playground of abstraction.
I worked for weeks to truly understand and describe the structure I’d thought up. I ran to friends and advisors attempting to draw it and saying
“please tell me if I’m crazy so I can direct attention to my work.”
However, even with how admittedly scattered my initial explanation was at first, they didn’t discourage me; it was terrifying. I refused to believe that I’d truly thought of a novel graph purely in my head. But I fell in my core that this could be constructed.
And then, I wrote an algorithm in my Python, which I’ve now brought into more formal mathematical language, and it looked exactly how I’d imagined.
I have a million different questions about the basic graph theoretic properties of this object, captivated by the structure alone, although finding a “use” for this graph could be nice as well I suppose…
In summary, I did “see” the graph, my brain tends towards mathematical patterns way many tend toward social intuition. I find extreme abstraction quite comforting, and truly believe I’m not unique in this way.
I love math because it finally gives me language to explain my mind, but I was also lucky to have the right mentors. Many neurodivergent people believe they’ll fail at math because they are introduced to the field through pure computation, which feels unnatural to us.
I dream of a world where someone can develop an early course in mathematics for neurodivergent teens, so we can grow up loving the unique nature of our brains instead of constantly questioning our sanity.
Thank you for reading this long brain-dump, and enjoy a few variations of the graph :)

Call On Me
Fandom: Trials of Apollo Rating: Teen Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Family Characters: Yan, Apollo, Jerry A simple shopping trip into the city goes wrong. TOApril day 7 - Fathers Who'd Kill. This prompt was easy, and of course it's Apollo! I love protective!Apollo and this prompt was begging for it, so here we go...
This wasn't supposed to happen.
It wasn't like they were on a quest or anything. True, all demigods were in some degree of danger from monster attacks outside the protective borders of camp, but once they were at least somewhat trained, it was a moderately low risk, and one that most demigods didn't really consider.
Or maybe Yan had just got too complacent, given the only times they'd left camp before had been as part of a larger group, or even an army, that first time, when their dad was mortal and Nero was threatening to end New York while Python was slithering around Delphi. That had been horrible - traumatising, even - but it had been once, and Yan was stronger, now. More experienced. More confident.
Overconfident.
It should have just been a quick trip into New York, for an American value of quick. Jerry had been grumbling about the two hour drive the entire time, and how big America was. He'd never really got used to the massive upsize in scale compared to England (and nor had Yan, really. They'd never left London during their year there, and it had felt pretty similar in scale to Hong Kong. America was an entirely different beast for both of them). They'd been at camp for years now, lived through not just their father's mortality but also the overthrowing of Zeus, and whatever reshuffle was going on up in Olympus. Apollo had never really given them a straight answer on that, just that it would take time. Given how long the gods had lived for so far, Yan suspected it was the sort of take time that would last beyond a mortal lifespan, but as it didn't seem to be affecting the mortal world much, if at all, they could mostly put it out of their mind.
Everyone knew that quests went wrong - it was practically a rite of passage, to have a quest that went drastically sideways at some point or other. Yan had never gone on a quest themselves, and was content to keep it that way, but they'd heard stories from others who had. What wasn't supposed to go wrong were short shopping trips, but here they were.
Jerry wasn't moving. His blood was splattered across the pavement, and stained Yan's shoes, and there was nothing Yan could do about it. They weren't the strongest healer, couldn't deal with things like this, and they didn't have the chance to, either.
They weren't a close combat fighter, either. True, they had a knife for emergencies, but their strength lay in their bow and the moment they had to make the switch was the moment they were going to fall, just like Jerry.
Gods, they didn't know if Jerry was even still alive. The hellhound had barrelled into their younger brother at speed, and what made it even worse was the fact that Jerry had deliberately put himself in its way, because it had been charging towards them. Jerry wasn't an archer, not really - he could shoot a bit – but he did better with the sword. That was a rarity for Apollo kids, but Jerry always equated it to swinging a cricket bat, even though Yan was certain cricket bats were not wielded that way under any match circumstances. It meant he tended to put himself on the front line, especially as he was one of the biggest Apollo kids now, certainly bigger than Yan despite being a year younger.
It worked in Capture the Flag.
It didn't work against a hellhound.
Yan had felled the first one before it reached them, before it could do more than just maul Jerry, but now there were more, a whole pack of them, and Yan didn't have enough arrows to take them all down. Didn't have the time, either, with the speed the hunting pack were advancing. Their knife would do nothing here, and even if they could make the opportunity to grab Jerry's sword, they didn't have the skill to use it.
They only had one thing they could do, one chance at survival, and they hoped it would work but they didn't have proof. They knew it hadn't always worked in the past, definitely hadn't worked while Zeus was in charge, but he wasn't in charge anymore and Yan didn't want to die. Didn't want Jerry to die.
"APOLLO!" they shrieked, letting their fear and desperation loose as they fired off another arrow. It lodged itself firmly inside a hellhound eye, but didn't go deep enough to hit the brain. It yelped but kept running, teeth bared and tongue lolling out disturbingly. "DAD, HELP!"
The sun exploded.
Yan had high tolerance for bright lights, higher than anyone outside of their siblings, but this had even them wincing against it, instinct driving them to throw their arms up across their eyes as they screwed them shut. It should have made them feel vulnerable, blinded and at the mercy of the ever-approaching pack of hellhounds, but it didn’t. It made them feel safe.
They fell to their knees, eyes still shut but bow discarded in favour for reaching blindly for where Jerry lay, gripping their brother’s wrist tightly. There was a faint pulse beneath their fingertips, a promise of life beneath the façade of blood and death that had flashed before their eyes as Jerry fell, and amongst the sound of tortured screaming that could only come from the throats of hellhounds, Yan relaxed.
The light beyond their eyelids slowly faded away, and the hand that rested on their shoulder was warmth incarnate. Comfortable, reassuring. Yan let themselves bask in it for a moment, taking deep, grounding breaths, before they opened their eyes again.
In front of them, Jerry was glowing faintly. There was still a hand on their shoulder, but there was another hand on Jerry’s bloodied chest, one that was clean as it rejected the searching stain of blood, rejected the injuries beneath it.
The lightest shift on their shoulder had them slumping sideways, into the comforting warmth, and they dragged their eyes away from Jerry to look up at their father.
Apollo’s brow was furrowed in concentration as he looked at his son, but Yan didn’t detect any panic. They hadn’t been set aside as a lower triage, and that meant that Jerry was going to be okay, because Apollo didn’t let any of them feel like there was a favourite, but he would prioritise based on the situation, and Yan would demand nothing less of him, right now.
Equal priority meant that Apollo wasn’t scared.
And if Apollo wasn’t scared, then Jerry was going to be fine.
They let their eyes drift again. There were no hellhounds to be seen, corpses or otherwise – not that there would be, because they’d all be scattered dust – but there were scorch marks on the pavement that hadn’t been there before.
The silence reigned for a few minutes, before Apollo pulled his hand back from Jerry. His clothes were still bloodied and torn, but his skin was unblemished and clean, and his chest was rising and falling normally.
“He’ll wake up shortly,” their dad finally said, and his hand rubbed up and down Yan’s arm for a moment, not letting them go. Yan knew he wouldn’t let go until they pulled away, but for the moment they were content to stay where they were. Apollo visited them more in person since Zeus’ destruction, but it still wasn’t often. Most visits were still dream-visits, and while dream-hugs were still comfortable, in-person-hugs were just that much better. “He’ll be okay.”
“I know,” Yan said simply. “You’re here.”

Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 2 liveblogging
Forgot to mention this last ep but the umbrella academy wants its soundtrack back
I trhink I read Javi listed in additional voices in the credits, but I don't remember hearing him. Weird. WAs he mixed into the screaming sounds in the end?
Is the ghost maybe Natalie? SHauna's ghost?
Not Ben acting like he didn't try to kill everyone once already.
Shauna you can't just unburry the baby whenever you feel like it.
Okay that's twice Natalie's snubbing Misty. At this point I want to shake her by the shoulders or slap her in the face. Are they trying to make us hate all the teen characters this season? Cause Shauna's in great form, Nat and even Van are being catty and unlikable... Goddamn why are they being such dicks to Misty?
Also it's pretty clear Kristen is dead, so why are they overlooking that? Didn't mention her the night before, don't seem to show Misty any special consideration but have sympathy out the wazoo for Tyler and Shauna. It's weird.
Gen and Melissa sharing a look... are they gonna have a throuple with SHauna? Is anyone? ARE WE EVER GONNA HAVE ANY MORE LESBIANS?
Shauna's always forgetting shit she has to do with Jeff lol. LIke just divorce already. He's gay and at the gym all the time. She's gay and at home. Just quit.
Lawttie? When did you get here? Welcome back to the story.
It sounds like Lottie got cut off. Even if her dad WAS funding her, what about the money she scammed -I mean, the money people volunteered to her- out of her cronies?
Lottie standing next to Callie? Yeah, the father that stepped up right there.
Why can't she go back to her cult again? Also you're telling me she had the balls to go try shack up at Shauna's and not like Misty's or anything like that? God, what are they leaving between the gaps. Make it make sense. Why do they hate Misty so much? Why do they treat her like shit cause it doesn't make any sense.
That whole scene is like a kid bringing home a python or a skunk and being all 'can i keep it?'
Callie lowkey looks like Travis. What she's Travis's son?
I want Shauna and Lottie to fuck on Jeff's bed when he leaves for work.
Van is killing it on the mic. No, really, I don't think it's moving. Please, never sing again.
I forgot to take notes cause of their cuteness. ALthough returning to the scene of the crime is a rookie move. Like, really dumb move.
Misty looking cute af in those yellowjacket pyjamas which of course she has. Of course she has yellowjackets pyjamas. Oh my god she's lying in bed, rubbing her face into Natalie's jacket I will never recover from this.
God it's so heartbreaking to see her bottle her stuff up and answer Shauna and cater to the yellowjackets and be there for them when they need her, be at their beck and call, pushing her whole life aside, and Walter is catching on too, that she has one priority and it's those girls. Will he stick around for her? Does he have his own shit? Will Misty ever stand up to the yellowjackets? Will Natalie inspire her to callout Shauna and the gang? PLEASE I need her to put them in their place so bad.
Is Walter a figment of her imagination? It's clear she doesn't want him around but he refuses to leave, he's her perfect match and this and that but she keeps dogging him, and he's constantly trying to help her and save her, but we never see people interacting with him and her at the same time. We see him and Jeff interact, but we never see them talk to a third person together.
MISTYNAT! ON MY SCREEN!
FINALLY seeing Natalie throw her a bone.
NEVER FUCKING MIND SHE'S BEING A COMPLETE DICKBAG TO MISTY, I SAY MISTYNATION REVOLTS AT THIS POINT.
Do we think Mari's gonna team up with coach? Go live with him in the woods? or is he saving her for something insidious? Are they really hinting that he might not have burned the cabin down?
Even Callie's looking at Misty like she's deranged? God what am I missing here? Lottie comes over from her psychiatric hold and she's all "can we keep her?" Misty walks in from.. her house.. and suddenly she knows fear?
Shauna has a loooooot of fucking nerve. I owe you one? Like she didn't help you cover up a murder not two months ago... I owe you one. This is high school all over again, with the cool kid Shauna taking advantage of dweed Misty and getting her to do her homework for her and shit. God, I hate that Walter is right. I mean he's echoing me so of course he's right, Shauna doesn't give a fuck about Misty and I'm gonna cry again.
Okay, definite confirmation that Travis and Nat are over?! I'll take it!
If I'm correct, Natalie noticed coach's traps, which means she's been aware of him being alive, and probably knows where he's at too. She seems to be trying to distract Misty (you should kiss her, that would definitely distract her).
Okay how fucking sad is it that when Natalie tried to distract her by engaging with her and agreeing with her, Misty's instant reaction was "are you making fun of me?" she's so used to it, so conditioned to the mocking and the bullying and people being mean to her that she can't fathom that someone might be nice.
Misty knows she's being had but she's still giving Natalie the benefit of the doubt anyway.
Callie just play the fucking tape already. Borrow the tape thing Misty inherited from Natalie. Maybe it has an explanation as to WHY MISTY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT NATALIE cause the more I watch the less sense it makes.
Lottie get out that teenager's room, I've seen the fanfiction people write about you.
Callie has a Lana Del Rey concert poster in her room...maybe she doesn't suck that much after all.
Van is being a bit of a dick in the past timeline. And the adult timeline. Was she always this much of a dick? God. I like her, but she's filling in for Mari in the dick department.
Tai's right about Nat sucking as a leader, but at the same time... no, yeah she sucks as a leader. Tai going 'who else could have lit the cabin on fire' as if she doesn't have an evil shadow self though is hillarious.
Awww Trevor's just tripping balls, not taking backshots. What a disappointment that turned out to be.
You've gotta be shitting me, he really died?
I wonder if the matchbox leads to something.
Misty getting invited to her first sleepover. It might be the sleep deprivation that's making me cry again. I want to say it's the sleep deprivation and not all this. MistlyLot content though is killing it.
Shauna's acting real pick and choosey considering the financial situation is so bad her husband was blackmailing her friends for money a couple weeks ago.
Callie knows what she's doing leading these two attention-starved adults in a game of truth or dare lmao. She's playing them like a fiddle. Love it.
She's.... she's not really drugging them is she?
This is not how the fanfics go, usually it's the other way around, and it's the reader insert in Callie's position and...
Misty has a dAd?
Misty was peer pressured so quickly, you know what, maybe it's a good thing she was never invited to any parties, she'd probably be a teen mom if she was. Loser heard a pretty girl dare her to chug her drink and she ate that shit in one thing of swallowing. God damn. Now we all know what that mouth do.
Callie:Some girls were bullying me, saying when you guys were out there you had to eat each other Lottie:People have been telling that story since the time we had to eat each other
alt
Callie: Some girls were saying you had to eat each other.
Lottie: That's not true. We didn't HAVE to.
In a room full of cannibals, Shauna's daughter is still the creepiest, scariest person.
Is he really helping her out?
No, he's kidnapping her.
I trust him less than Shauna's creepy, date-rapey daughter.
Seriously she drugged Misty? How could anybody do that? I mean on the one hand it's giving karma but on the other hand, come on dude, she's going through it. I guess since Lottie's more eager to talk and Callie wanted the hot goss... nah, still, Misty is so easy to peer pressure if she'd told her Natalie would have just told her the truth, she would have got a 150,000 word summary of everything that went down in the cabin days.
They really got me feeling bad for Mari now?!
I can see the thinkpieces on Mari coming from a mile away. Watch her get whitewashed if and when she dies. "She was just a lil guy. She didn't deserve this. She just wanted to be accepted and be friends."
Is Taissa looking for the man with no eyes at that sermon/funeral or whatever? He DID appear when that guy died. I mean, I know he's associated with death but I don't remember seeing him pop up around Javi's death or Jackie's death or whatever. To be fair though I haven't been keeping tabs on his appearances. I guess they've set up these rules for him now though.
Man with no eyes = marks death. Harbinger of death? Ferryman?
Nevermind, she was just hiding evidence.
"Misty how are you not picking up right now?" Dude you left her alone with Lottie and Callie, have some mercy on the poor girl.
Wait
Someone is in the bathroom with her
Please be Jackie's ghost!
Hillary Swank would NOT wear heels!
Shauna did NOT wipe, I saw that, girl!
Oooh Shauna standing up to the man. Made my hole weak. I mean, my whole week. She cleared him and sent him packing all the way to IKEA. Girlie said drop off some meatballs on the way back.
AKILAH NAMED THE DUCK MORTIMER COULD SHE BE ANY MORE PRECIOUS? I SWEAR TO GOD THEY BETTER NOT FUCKING HURT MY BABY GIRL AKILAH! AKILAH GET BEHIND ME!
Also I like seeing Trevor interact with the other yellowjackets in a non-sexual way. Just hanging with the girls and having a spa night. Melissa braiding his hair while he polishes the dishes or whatever. This is what wlw mlm solidarity should be like. Not him sleeping with Natalie. Let's NEVER do that again. Matter of fact let's forget that ever happened. Someone grab a two by four and do me first.
Lottie fuck off!
That's his emotional support duck, he doesn't need you anymore now Lottie.
Lawttie leave him the fuck alone. Go trawl Misty's corner of camp and actually be a decent human being by being the one person that doesn't treat her like she's go three types of plague at once.
FUCK YOU TRAVIS I WAS ALMOST STARTING TO CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT MAYBE ONE DAY I MIGHT DEEM IT A THOUGHT TO POSSIBLY SOMEDAY MAYBE BEGIN TO THINK ABOUT NOT HATING YOUR GUTS COMPLETELY BUT NO YOU HAD TO SCREW IT ALL UP YOU STUPID BITCH
No, seriously though DID HE REALLY JUST SELL AKILAH DOWN THE RIVER WITHOUT A PADDLE OR WHATEVer the saying is? He sold her out so he wouldn't have to deal with Lottie. He's a coward and a fiend and I KNOW he's bullshitting, I can see it on his face (kudos for the surprisingly decent acting in this scene) That man isn't unwanted by the wilderness, the wilderness is the only hoe in that camp that actually wants him!
Misty and Natalie are back. They're girlfriends now. It's canon. Those are the laws of this camp and they can't take them back.
Aww she's still trying to cheer up Nattalie.
Oop that was the quickest turnaround since.. I don't know I suck at metaphors. Never ask me to do write a metaphor.
Like not only did she sell her out, but to SHAUNA? FUCKING SHAUNA? DID SHE WANT HER TO PERISH? SHE SAW WHAT HAPPENED TO LAWTTIE RIGHT? And immediately too. Like, Natalie took three steps away and Misty took maybe two, saw Shauna, and immediately started currying favour. Bro knows an uprising is coming and she's NOT a class traitor.
Seriously, at this point, fuck Natalie. She's done nothing but fuck with Misty's feelings, so I don't even blame her for turning on Nat at this point. All we've seen her do is be a dick and dismiss her and gaslight..
As much as it will suck, I get where Misty is coming from, and like Taissa and others keep pointing out, Natalie is a dogshit leader.
Shauna still being a dick too but at least she's not being a sneaky lil shit about it. She'll be a dick to Misty to her face and not behind her back like Natalie. Is this season going to make me like Shauna? And dislike Natalie? What I hate is how inconsistent she is. One minute she's all "Im the lorax and I speak for the trees, we should all be nice to one another" after school special, all "Misty did everything she could" and standing up for her, then the next minute she's mocking her behind her back and dismissing her and gaslighting her and ignoring her and just being a fucking dick to her. At least Shauna is consistently a dick. Nah, she's still a dick and would be a tyrant if she was in power, but yeah. fuck. She's stuck between a rock and an equally hard rock, both of them umm pressing against her with their butts and she's trying not to get turned on by the rocks and shit.
Not Lottie and Callie innocently watching trash tv and braiding each other's hair while Misty, a whole victim, lies in a cupboard somewhere.
Also I'm getting the impression Shauna automatically assumed she'd have Misty's loyalty and Misty at her beck and call like Nat did, but Nat was the people's princess and she's Camilla, the usurper and it doesn't work like that.
Misty DID throw up on Shauna's counter! I got that right! Wish I had it on my bingo card. I did pick some pretty low hanging fruit though so I'm sure I'm getting bingo. Probably within the first few episodes atp. Also I hope that doesn't stain the counters, that's a butcher top thing.
Natalie died of an OD when she was sober and now Shauna thinks Misty has a drinking problem when she was only peer pressured into drinking this show is ruining my life.
Van really made herself at home in Taissa's house. Just walked right up to the fridge and started chugging a cold one. Are we still maintaining the pretense that they're not an old married couple?
Honestly waiting on them to double down with the wilderness stuff and Van to be like "Went to the doctor and it turns out I don't have cancer anymore"
Nope, nevermind, still cancerfull. Damn.
Is Walter stealing the plaque on Misty's bird cage?
I still think he's a figment on her imagination.
Hold on, tell me they did NOT let Misty drive home that fucked up.
God the yellowjackets suck. LIke as human beings. Not even on the cannibalism yadda yadda yadda level, but like, there's this girl that's been through hell with them and is very clearly suffering and not only are they too engrossed in their own shit to even look her own way but they're criminally negligent on top of that as well?
I know what they're trying to do with the Walter/Misty parallels but it feels like a false equivalency. Misty didn't just meet the girls, they'd known each other for years and years and spent a LOT of time together during the crash. Walter just waltzed in off the street and has done nothing but stalk and harass her, and while seemingly well meaning, it's just not the same as Misty occasionally assisting the YJs.
Not the hot chocolate. Please just show me my baby sapphic ghost already. Please.
Okay when coach ben went off to talk to seemingly himself I think I heard Natalie's voice mixed in in there. Or maybe it's just confirmation bias or whatever, but Natalie for sure knows Mari's with him I suspect.
Jeff served and ate tbh
Who the fuck is Shauna bootycalling? And why were they not mentioned like at all during the first two seasons? As much as I wanna be happy to be maybe getting a new yellowjacket, it kinda pisses me off that they never mention them until they pop up. It may have worked with Van, Lottie even but come on.
FLOWERS? YELLOW FLOWERS?
I think they're like friendship flowers but is Shauna being wooed?
Is she about to.. nah she wouldn't. I thought her whole thing was repressing her homosexuality. So it'd be going pretty far against canon to have her be with another girl, so I'm just crossing my fingers it's a friend thing and Travis doesn't pop out of those trees. Or that it's not a trap by coach.
Is it Melissa? It's MELISSA!
Honestly I think I could get behind it, but I'd forever lose a bit of respect for the writers for caving in to peer pressure and making Shauna gay for fanservice. Cause the whole THING of JackieShauna was SHauna's repressed feelings causing her to lash out and turn against her, so now you're telling me she's suddenly cool with her feelings? There was even some line she had about repressing things as an adult and shit. And while her comphet feels like it's canon atp it still feels like fanservice to see her with another girl.
But a part of me is excited for it. At least we'd be getting another canonically non-het character in this show.
Also almost funny Jeff is only now realising Shauna doesn't give a shit about him.
Oh Melissa is down BAD all rambling and shit.
Go get it, quirked up white boy busting it down sexual style! Get your girl!
Oh she is down astronomically bad
I'm assuming we're supposed to put two and two together and think Melissa's alive and stalking Shauna or whatever. Perhaps drawn in by the funeral and whatnot.
I would like to see an adult Melissa working as a car mechanic, wearing a tank top and fixing cars in the midday sun, sweating and wiping the sweat off her brow with a wrench while chewing gum and doing sick skateboard tricks and also being played by Hillary Swank.
But I do not for a second believe they got Melissa or Hillary Swank in goddamn heels.
Okay, Shauna checking that she's alone before uttering those dreaded Karen words "I would like to speak to the manager" is comedy gold. Melanie Lynskey should never die.
Also kinda sad Shauna's main assumption is that Melissa is spying on her to find the baby or whatever. Would I be a dick if I said no one really cares about that baby anymore? I mean, Lottie's still kinda weird about it but she moved onto Tyler and the rest of the gals are just sort of sad about it, but chill. And they've got food so like... no one's trying to eat that damn baby.
Would be funny if Kristen survived and that's who coach was talking to, but if they even try to insinuate she's still alive I'm gonna quit watching. That'd be the most far fetched thing, next to the yellowjackets trying to bang Trobert.
Okay maybe it's not romantic. Shauna just went to 100,000 there.
NO MAYBE IT IS! GO MELISSA! GET YOUR LICKS IN! OR YOUR KISS I GUESS! LIKE FUCK IT IF YOU'RE GONNA DIE ANYWAY!!
Shauna kissing Melissa while wearing Jackie's shirt. I know her ghost is rolling in her grave. Also Mari's is probably calling her the F slur as we speak. Shh ghosts don't experience time in a linear pattern, this makes sense if you've seen haunting of hill house.
Wait, did she put flowers on the rock Shauna burried the baby under? Okay cause that makes sense now why she thought... yeah, my bad. I'm an idiot.
Shauna: You can't have my baby
Melissa: What about the next one?
I can't believe they kissed
I can't believe she kissed her
I can't believe she kissed her back
I can't believe they KISSED!
I don't think this was on anybody's bingo card
ALso "I'm not scared of you!" Says Melissa, shaking like Shauna's daughter's vibrator.
Anyway while on the one hand I hope it doesn't devolve into just fanservice, I'm gonna be cautiously happy and optimistic about getting at least some fanservice. Like, that they're not completely ignoring us. Even though the MistyNat scenes were painful. Please for the life of me explain why Misty was so loyal to her. Was it guilt because she betrayed her? Idk. ANyway, that cliffhanger. I know what you are. I know where you're going. Don't think you can pull the wool over ol jolly reginald rancher's eyes!
Why did they split the season up like this btw? Why couldn't they upload the whole thing at once?
Though with the million errors and the lag and all it took me about sixteen hours to get through just the two episodes. Still though. It's not like I need sleep *I say as I wipe the drool off my shirt from when I straight up passed out for half an hour*
Anyway a good start. I hope the season maintains this momentum. And we get more lesbian content and no more hetero content. That's all I want. More lesbians, less straightbeans.

hi! im applying to college soon and ive always wanted to do human sciences, but recently ive switched one of my subjects to CS and decided i want to do something more objective and math-y. i think having a degree related to computers will give me more time to think about the field i want to work in. this decision was a bit impulsive and tbh you played a big role in sparking my interest and making computing seem accessible. in general i feel like ive always been interested in it (my dad knows a lot), but ive just never considered it a real opportunity that i would ever be able to do. Rn i feel like all cis guys built their own computers since they were 11 and would have an advantage over me (in this country unis require you to show personal engagement and skill relating to the course you apply for). i wonder if you have any opinions on whether its even worth to do computer-related stuff in uni if i dont have any real knowledge about it besides "useful in life", how poorly will i be treated in the field as a trans guy, and if you have some suggestions on the topics and materials i can study to improve my knowledge
honestly even if you dont go fully into CS just having a course or two will help you get started in doing really useful things in whatever direction you end up going. the amount of times i hear someone becoming crazy useful just because they know some basic scripting or something is amazing.
i put my own computer together in highschool and beyond know what parts are in a pc and how to install an operating system it didnt really help at all in uni. if you have time and the interest look into maybe doing a basic programming course or a bridging course. having a few basic projects to show youre interested and willing to work on it looks really good to applications i imagine(schools here are just entrance on grades so I dont for sure but ive heard good things)
honestly uni is most just exploring stuff to help you figure out what you vibe with enough to peruse, its really common to change degrees part way through cause locking into a field of study in your teens is just not fun
as for the cis dude dominance yeah i got nothing, i know plenty of not cis guys doing well and some putting up with bs for it. if you enjoy the field then do it, going to be putting up with shitty people regardless so might as well do something you enjoy/are interested in.
ive been out of the loop on what are good starting resources but honestly finding an intro course/tutorial on C or python seems like a good way to get a taste for it. hopefully others can add some recommendations
hope you have luck and fun in whatever choice you make, i know its a tough decision to make so props to you for reaching out

I keep seeing posts being like "omg. The kids don't know how to use computer! They don't know how to use a mouse! They don't know what a command line is! They can't even use a browser. The kids don't know anything about technology if not app on phone:("
And idk dude like. I'm not gonna accuse these people of lying but I am gonna accuse them of being completely biased with absolutely no self reflection at all. You sound like your parents. Like holy shit. First of all, LOTS of us [aged<20] have had computer classes. "Computer lab" was a class all throughout primary school for me, and in grade 8 I had a required course where I learned some Python, had to use Adobe Photoshop, that kind of stuff. I know so many people who go further than that (including myself) and take elective coding classes. Now, it would be incredibly fucking biased of me to conclude that, because almost everyone I know is at the very least functional with a computer and can use a mouse, this means everyone is. Of course not. But thats what these posts do. "I only interact with children who don't know this, therefore no one under 20 knows anything and they're all stupid with their little tik toks" you have a very incomplete sample of kids at this age, and you barely acknowledge it.
Secondly, more on the self reflection bit. This is absolutely a privilege issue. Not a "the kids are so dumbb omggg" issue. Kids don't have computer classes? It's a privilege I was able to get that education. Should we mock people who didn't have music classes growing up and don't know the difference between a rhythm and a beat? If your answer to that is no, then maybe we shouldn't mock kids for not knowing the difference between a search engine and a browser. I know plenty of people bring up the issue to try and get at this, but I cant shake the undertone that all of these posts have in common, which is essentially this air of superiority, like people who grew up with desktop computer access are somehow better than people who didn't, which is just kind of terrible?? Like no joke, I've seen people complaining about uni students who don't really know the ins and outs of programming yet in undergrad and its like,,, did you just not want them to go to school because they didn't know that prior to post secondary? Like, what do you think school is for? Being perfect all the time and telling the teacher that you know everything already? I was under the impression that school was for acquiring knowledge and skills that you previously didnt have.
I also know people who are much older than me, and could have been coding all of their life, but didn't so much as touch a computer until after college, and they learned how to use it, and how to code, and now it's their career! You don't need to learn how computers work when you are five! I grew up scribbling on ms paint and being confused how solitaire worked, and struggling to comprehend minesweeper strategy on a very old version of Windows. I could functionally operate a mouse at the age of one, and that's all privilege. I'm not smarter, or better or more refined or anything, I was literally just born into a family that had desktop computers. And again, to point out the bias, I know way more adults that fit the whole "don't understand it if it's not an app on my phone" than kids.
Finally, a minor nitpick but I feel like it's warranted since the people authouring these posts often present themselves as being more knowledgeable about computers than the average teen? Don't go just saying incorrect bullshit. If you mean PC, say pc. If you mean a desktop computer, or a laptop, say that. Phones are not "fake computers" they just ARE computers. They are computers that have been engineered to be tiny. Their size does not mean they are not computers, it just means they are small. Furthermore, an "app" isn't a "thing u use on a phone." It's literally just the word application shortened. Anytime you use an application that you download on a laptop, or a pc or whatever, you are using an app. Your browser application is an app. I hate to tell you, but it must be said.
Sorry if anything I said in this is straight up wrong, I am not immune to hypocrisy, yadda yadda you know the deal. I also AM NOT an expert on computers, I have (what I, a teenager consider to be) a relatively baseline understanding of computers. And I'm writing this exhausted because I can't sleep. Admittedly on the mobile app, (which explains any typos) but I swear to you that I have a laptop and I use it more than I use my phone most days. I doubt anyone will really see this post but thanks for reading if you got this far I guess. Maybe let's just not fearmonger about "the kids these days" when we should be trying to help kids become functioning adults. I didn't get past my struggles with reading as a kid by being told that I was stupid, or getting mocked. I got past them by finding a book that I loved, and by being encouraged to read by adults who genuinely cared about my education. I really don't see how computers are different, that's all I have to say.

Is there any piece of British media you enjoy a lot? I want to learn the British accent (for my career, ofc) and it's the best way to get myself into it
Ooh, that's a really intriguing question, and I'd love to hear about your career if you don't mind sharing because it sounds interesting! I like to do voiceovers for a hobby so I definitely get the importance of having media to compare and go off of. Of course, I have no clue about specific accents so you might have to do additional research if you need a very specific region, but I'll try my best to give a few pieces of media that might be able to help.
•The Magnus Archives/The Magnus Protocol: It's a horror podcast about an institute that takes in statements on the paranormal, and has a wide array of characters to use for reference. And since it's an audio performance, it might be easier to pick up inflections and things like that. Not to mention it's incredibly entertaining.
•The Outlaws: I never got around to finishing this show, but it's pretty good. It's about a group of people doing community service that end up getting involved in a drug gang ring. It's pretty funny even though quite a bit of the comedy comes from second-hand embarrassment, but it's definitely not bad.
•End of the F***ing World: That's another show I haven't finished primarily because I was watching it with my brother. From what I can remember, it's about two kids (one a moody teen girl and the other a teen boy who thinks he's a psychopath) who run off to find the girl's estranged father. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about it, but from what I do know it was entertaining.
•Extras: It's sort've like The Office (in fact it was written and stars two of the guys who wrote the UK Office) but it follows a guy who's trying to become a prominent actor and fails miserably. It's got a lot of guest appearances and it's a relatively short series as well. I personally hate shows like The Office, but this was one I liked.
•Haunting of Bly Manor: Not as good as Haunting of Hill House in my opinion, but it's still an incredibly good although short horror series. It's about a woman who goes to care for two kids for their uncle after they were orphaned. It'll definitely be entertaining to watch and it's worth a try.
•Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Radio Show/TV Series: You already know what Hitchhiker's Guide is so I won't explain it, but if I had to choose one or the other to suggest I would go with the radio show. The TV series is amazing, don't get me wrong, but for your purposes I find that audio-only pieces of media would work best. This is the version I prefer to listen to.
•Anything Monty Python: I can't guarantee that this would be the best source because it genuinely might be too entertaining. I fuckin love Monty Python with everything I have and there's not much I can say about it because it's just something you have to experience.
Of course, you can also look towards prominent British actors like Tim Curry, Angela Lansbury, and John Oliver, which is something I would suggest doing as well. Personally another thing that I've found to be helpful is also practicing a transatlantic accent, which is basically halfway between an American accent and a British accent. The only two people I can think of off the top of my head that have a very good transatlantic accent are Vincent Price and David Ogden Stiers (specifically as his role as Charles Winchester in M*A*S*H), so that might be some good warm-up. Hopefully this was of some help!
#I wish you the best of luck with the accent!#I'm not good with British media since I'm probably one of the things that's considered the exact opposite lmao#but I tried my best#if you ever need a good reference for Southern accents though I'm your guy because GOD have I seen some bad ones#and it's not just Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump or Nic Cage in Con Air#good lord those make me cringe if I think about em too hard#asks#answered asks

For me, it’s the media I consumed in primary school. Like grade 1-4. My favourites for the tv were the never ending story, the last unicorn, the land before time series, Disney’s Tarzan, beauty and the beast, and Hercules movies. SpongeBob, teen titans, and the magic school bus. Monty python movies I probably should have had more supervision when watching, and the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy bbc tv series. And of course a lot of sailor moon, yugioh, digimon and pokemon.
My later preteen years were more about finding good music and reading YA romance novels.
being an artist and revisiting media you liked when you were 11 is like. oh ok. this shaped my sense of humor and the way I write characters and the way I pace narratives and the tropes I'm drawn to. and I vastly underestimated how much of an impact it had on me because I literally have not thought about it for 15 years. but it was there inside me the whole time. ok. ok cool! c ool

i couldn't afford much in general as a teen and a young adult and while it may suck not to be able to afford fancy art tools or expensive board games, there are so many things one can do
list of stuff from my personal experience (i had low budget/outdated pcs/laptops during these periods of my life):
i was a casual doodler in my mid teens and pencil+eraser+black ballpoint or gel pen+checkered notebooks+cheap printing paper was a heavenly combo
dollar store cross stitch kits are good. they may be knock offs, they may not have fancy threads, but they're great for a casual hobby. also major stores may have fancier kits at huge discounts, especially around the end of season (to get rid of "outdated" kits that weren't sold), that's how i got almost all of cool cross stitch kits i own
thrift stores and places like craigslist or whatever equivalent you have in your country have cheap knitting needles and yarn, if you want to get into knitting. sometimes people can giveaway those, like i do sometimes with art supplies i don't need
pixel art. you got a pc/laptop with a mouse or a mobile device? then you're fully capable of drawing in ms paint or freeware graphic editors (medibang, krita, dotpict, pixilart, etc). pixel art doesn't require basic drawing motor skills, you just poke on dots
explore new music. back in 2000s i used to pirate random music, these days you can just explore yt music or bandcamp, or simply google random music radio stations
myabandonware.com is my way to go to get old games for free. there are a lot of gems forgotten by the mainstream but worth exploring
console game emulation. all of my nostalgia trips to my childhood during teen years when i couldn't afford anything were through downloading emulators and game roms. on itself, the whole thing is also a huge territory of unexplored/forgotten gems worth of playing
various programming skills. all major programming languages you can think of, html, css, python, c#, etc, all have enormous amounts of free courses online. depending on what you're making, you likely won't need a beefy device for that, like making a neocities page doesn't require much. if you want to make a game, there are free engines and, again, enormous amount of free information even without pirating stuff, tumblr has a lot of blogs that focus on writing advises
speaking of, writing. you can just start typing out stories. i personally sucked at this and never was really interested, but it's a free, entry-level hobby that everyone can pick up, and again, writing advises are all over the place
if you want to learn a skill and know a great book or a course about it (to me, that's sometimes the case, as i don't want to waste time filtering out information online) just pirate it lol. or look it up at your local library
another hobby that i failed at, but for the sake of a "hobby list" that i'm making i'll mention it: almost 20 years ago i wanted to compose music and pirated fl studio. they currently have a free version! i'm also pretty sure there are other entry-level music apps and yt has lots and lots of tutorials and valuable info about using them. all i needed back then for fl studio was just a mouse and a keyboard
learning a new language. again, a lot of ways to practice it, the internet makes it super easy to get exposed to the content of whatever language you're learning. yt has a lot of courses, and various great textbooks are available either in your local library, or you can pirate it

This person wrote a manifesto I ain’t reading all that but this is literally the type of behavior im talking about the idea hobbies all cost money is so removed from reality if you have the time to pick up your phone and write 7 paragraphs on how im victimizing you with my offhanded post you have the time to watch a movie on YouTube with your very same phone instead come on now. How is you freaking out on the internet helping any of these issues
