hi, melis! 💓 idk if you’ve already answered this but can you rate the godfather characters from your favourite to least favourite? i’m curious!!
Hello!! 🤗💕 Ooooooooh my gawd, okay. OKAY. In order from my favourite to least favourite, it would be:
Michael Corleone. But is anyone surprised? 🤭❤️‍🔥 Believe me, his looks aren't the major reason why either (but the sexiness helps smh). 😅 The most cunning, crude, intelligent and interesting character with a hell of a development... He really does have my heart.
Tumblr media
2. Kay Adams Corleone. The one and only of course!! 💕 I especially say this towards her character in the book rather than the film. She's much more fleshed out, interesting, supportive and by Michael's side. She makes for such a unique character!!
Tumblr media
3. Santino Corleone. That's right, him. 😅❤️ Sonny honestly keeps things very interesting thanks to his infamous temper. He was a hell of an enforcer; Luca Brasi who?? Tbh I was and still am extremely distraught by his death scene. 💔💔
Tumblr media
4. Vito Corleone. Don Corleone himself!! What's honestly not to love? His kindness, how wise he is, how he's taken care of his family. This man came from nothing but gained everything. ❤️❤️❤️
Tumblr media
5. Fredo Corleone. I honestly think Fredo's an absolute sweetheart and I love his sense of humour, even though wasn't a whole lot shown. He has a good nature and I think he was really misunderstood. 🥺💕
Tumblr media
6. Tom Hagen. Love, love, love my boy Tom. 😂❤️ He's the moral compass of the family!! Or.. at least he was until I found out he had a mistress. Still, there's just something from Tom and his wholesomeness and advice that makes you never want to lose faith in him.
Tumblr media
7. Connie Corleone. Truly a misunderstood and underrated character. 🥺❤️ I have nothing but love for Connie and I wish we had seen even more of her. She deserved better and I honestly loved her disaster MILF era lmfao. 💀
Tumblr media
8. Sandra Corleone + Mama Corleone + Deanna Dunn. I'm grouping both of these ladies together because they're sadly very minimal side characters but from everything I've seen of them, they're still so dear in my heart which is also why I include them in my fics!! 😌❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Peter Clemenza. Clemenza is actually wholesome and not a traitor unlike Tessio who isn't even worth a damn mention here. 💀 Supported the Corleone's till the very end and didn't undermine Michael ever either.
Tumblr media
10. Carlo Rizzi. Eugh... Bleugh.. We've gotten to the least favourite characters section now without a doubt. I hate Carlo. I don't like him at all whatsoever. He's an abusive, disgusting piece of shit and I really wish Sonny would have killed him or that we'd at least get more scenes of Sonny beating the shit out of him. 😮‍💨
Tumblr media
11. Hyman Roth. While he did keep things interesting and was cunning on his own in the second film, I don't like him. 💀 He's not likeable. Tf did Michael ever do to him?? 😅
Tumblr media
12. Apollonia Vitelli. Yep, she's the last on my list. 😂😂😂 She's by far my very least favourite character. She's hardly a character. Very shallowly fleshed out, boring, uninteractive, and taking advantage of what Michael has to offer. She never loved that man, she loved his car for sure and the freedoms he gave her. Also, she's super fucking annoying and whiny. 💀

Random thoughts after finally watching The Godfather Part 2.
I finally watched part 2 last week and I really enjoyed it but ultimately I prefer the first movie. That isn't to say that I didn't love it but as a whole I feel that the first part works better for me but that 2 has so many of my favourite moments from the movies.
The casting was impeccable again and I don't think there was a single actor who felt wrong for their role but I prefer the villains in the first movie. I find Sollozzo for example, more interesting and enjoyable than Hyman Roth and Johnny Ola. That's no reflection on the actors, just a personal preference.
The scenes with young Vito were beautifully done and I love how close to the book they were. Robert de Niro was perfect in the role as were young Genco/Tessio and Clemenza. I also really enjoyed the very old school Fanucci as a villain. Overall though as much as I enjoyed them and I'm glad they were included and it was important that they were, but if I had my choice, I'd rather spend more time with the remaining Corleone siblings.
What a loss to cinema John Cazale was. He was truly incredible here and had some of the most powerful scenes.
Al Pacino was brilliant again. My favourite scene of his was when he overhears Fredo saying that he knows Johnny Ola.
Robert Duvall was excellent again. He has great chemistry with Pacino and was never less than utterly convincing as an aging and battle weary Tom who is becoming increasingly alienated from Michael and the business yet retains his loyalty in spite of his growing discomfort with Michael's ruthlessness.
I loved the ever developing relationship between Michael and Tom with all its twists and turns. It physically pains me that we didn't get to see it continue in part 3 because their relationship was such an important part of the whole story.
I loved Frank Pentangeli. What a great character he was. I enjoyed him so much that I didn't even miss Clemenza. His final scene with Tom was one of my favourite moments from either of the movies.
The flashback scene was the perfect way to end it. I have so many feelings about that scene but I'll save that for another post.

The offer: to watch “The Godfather” hosted by Tribeca at the United Palace.
This film reminds me of my dad so much for several reasons. Some of them are:
- My first time watching was the whole film series in one sitting with him
- He had Fredos
- I had to deal with one or two Tessios after Dad died
You can watch some highlights on my Instagram Reels: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ce8zTq0FiV0/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Robert De Niro opened up on his experience working with Al Pacino and in The Godfather franchise. Al came out to answer questions about his time working on the film, why he felt that this picture was going to be something else and shared how fate got involved when he found out his grandfather is from Corleone, Sicily
An early Happy Papas Day to all the dads who deserve to celebrate. And to those who try to cross us, I know what to do before grabbing the cannoli.

Forgive me for asking, but who's Mark Winegardner and why is he so despised? Furthermore, why does he hate Michael?
Sorry this took so long! This is a VERY good question.  And a long answer so I’m putting it under read more.  So Winegardner is an author from Ohio who has published a few books.  Back in early/mid 2000s he won a competition held by Puzo’s family to write “what happened in between the movies” books.  Keep in mind, these books are not canon.
Anyway, he won by writing a draft that had all this backstory of Michael in the war.  Once he actually won the competition, he changed the plot to be about his self-insert Gary Stu Nick Geraci (if you’ve read what I have of my Michael fic, THAT’S who Geracisi is based on lol).  So I haven’t read the books myself, but I’ve read excerpts and friends have told me in length details about them and I have been advised against spending money on them. But yeah Nick is basically the epitome of “self-insert Gary Stu”.  He’s a capo and is just so #special and #rare and tries to show that he’s equally as strong and powerful to Michael (zero people will ever be as strong, powerful, or sexy as Michael, let’s be real) but Michael is eeeeevilll and Nick Geraci is so good and pure and doesn’t want to kill Tessio because Michael only wants to kill him because he’s eeeeevil and Nick is so good and pure.  Basically, does a lot of painting “Michael BAD Nick GOOD”. He makes an extremely fucked up and biphobic/homophobic plotline regarding Fredo.  He makes Fredo bisexual which would be fine in and of itself since I think everyone knows by now myself and other people see Michael being bi. HOWEVER Mark says that the reason Fredo is bisexual is because he was molested by a priest as a child.  He also makes Fredo murder a man he slept with. He also thinks Michael is a bottom AHHA. As if.  And that Michael can only last like 2 seconds in bed and that Ms. I Can’ Have Sex Because I’m Taking Communion Kay dominates.  Gross.  It’s literally canon that Michael is a top (let’s be real, Michael is the ULTIMATE top) and can go until dawn lol.   And he makes Kay have a miscarriage instead of abortion which I think is so ridiculous.  He also makes Kay laugh at Michael about Apollonia and tells him it’s his fault she died and acts like “yas Kay you go girl for sticking it to Michael about his dead wife!”. But he also took a bunch of stuff from other mob movies. @imperatorcorleone (she’s read the books and I’ve gotten most of this info from her) told me that most of the scenes she actually did like in Winegardner’s books were from other mafia movies but she didn’t realize it until she watched those movies. Like a line stolen line from Donnie Brasco, stealing the plot of Casino for Fredo’s story.  Another weird thing is that at one point, Michael sends Geraci on a suicide mission to crash a plane into Lake Erie to kill some Don from Cleveland. BUT OF COURSE Mr. Nick Geraci is just such a strong powerful badass independent man that the PLANE CRASH DOESN’T KILL HIM AND HE LIVES ON RATTLESNAKE ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF LAKER ERIE AND MAGICALLY SURVIVES.  So Nick like grows a beard or something from being on the island and he fucking compares him to Osama Bin Laden.  Which in and of itself is already fucked up that he’s trying to get you to sympathize with self-insert Gary Stu by comparing him to a terrorist.  The books were also written while Bin Laden was still alive.  He also has Nick Geraci write the book of the Godfather because he’s just so special he has to know everything about Michael and become Mario Puzo.  He also made all these historical based plotlines, like basing characters on JFK and his brother I think there were also some random plotlines that were useless or rushed and didn’t make sense (he said he speed wrote the books late at night).  In his interviews about the books, he says he’s better than Puzo. He went on to say his were better than Puzo because he understands the mafia better than Puzo because he watched the Sopranos.  Puzo was a journalist and wrote real stories about the real mafia which is how he knew so much.  The Sopranos is a tv show that is a modern day telling of the mafia so it’s going to be different than the Godfather which is a period piece.  He also said he was better because in modern times he can get away with raunchier plotlines and swearing (Mark, Puzo literally describes Sonny’s dick for like an entire chapter).  He tried to get paramount to accept his books and make miniseries out of them, refusing to do that or do consider them canon (Mark Winegardner, you are NOT canon).  He said he’d be perfect to write the books since he doesn’t normally write mafia stuff and compared himself to Tom Hagen as a non Italian taking on mafia life then proceeds to have Gary Stu kill Tom. Ugh there’s so much that I’m probably forgetting.  But basically he comes across as very arrogant and thinking he knows more about The Godfather than Puzo in all of his intereviews.  He also made the Godfather video games which were not very good (and he made Michael hideous lol).  Added a bunch of random characters and self insert Gary stus.  I have no idea if he had anything to do with this, but Puzo’s son sued the video game for not giving him the cut of money that was supposed to go to his dad’s estate from the rights to the game.  Anyway, that’s the brief summary of why most people don’t like Mark.

The Godfather : Don Corleone dan Manajemen emosi tingkat tinggi.
Anda penggemar film The Godfather trilogy? Atau minimal pernah nonton film nya? Kalo belum gw saranin nontonlah karena film ini merupakan a must see film before you die 😊😊.
Tak selang waktu lama nama Vito berkibar, dia disegani di kawasan, dia kerap membantu orang susah kemudian dia memimpin usaha import minyak zaitun Genco oil and co.
Elo2 yang suka ngamukan, baper, emosi tinggi, dikit2 nyolot, dikit2 gebrak meja sambil suara cetar membahenol…terima akibatnya.. your emotion will lead you to hell and even worst, die !!, paling apes elo gagal alias gak dapet pa apa, abis Sukanya marah2 mulu sih. Makanya jangan suka ngamuk, dan inget jangan suka marah kalo orang lain ketawa..masa orang gak boleh bahagia ( ups..kode keras)
Ada beberapa point pesan moral yang bakal gw tulis di lanjutan nya, masih di edisi The Godfather, itupun kalo sempet n kalo gak males 😊 Kepoin aja eike punya blog ecek2 : wisnusari.tumbr.com

The Godfather (1972) dir. Francis Ford Coppola. 7.7/10 Updated 3 years later. (3.18.20.) 8/10
Don Corleone understands his own values very well and does well to keep everyone in check. I respect that. He is also rather intelligent.  I love the scene when he is hanging out with his grandson. Family values.
The music, my oh my, I want to be looking at nature with some nice wine with good friends.
Al Pacino is a lil cutie.
Can I please go to Sicily?
I love how everything is about business, family, and respect.  The family part makes sense, because in this business, the only ones you should trust is your family.
The baptism scene is just so beautiful. Such art. I also love the symbolism behind it.
Updated commentary:
I am now more aware of how Don was a title. Michael did well in taking over and not being pushed around.
Why they have to make Connie so hysterical? I don’t like women shown this way.
It’s funny when people are like cmon it’s 2019 to say this situation should be progressive and they do the same thing here to talk about bloodshed.
Spoiler: [About the Corleone family. Vito is the Don with Tom Hagen as the consigliere. We are at Vito’s daughter’s Connie’s wedding. A man comes to him to ask for vengeance on men who fucked up his daughter so he does so in return for a favor. He also had Tom get his godson a role in a movie by cutting of the studio head’s prized horse’s head. Later, Sollozzo tries to get all the family heads to agree to push for narcotics and using the protection of politics and police. Vito is the only one who doesn’t want to be a part of it because he considers it dirty business. Vito has his muscles, Luca Brasi, spy on them and Luca is killed by the Tattaglia family, while they kidnap Hagen and shoot down Vito. Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had typed this once and Tumblr deleted it, so here we go again.
Fredo Corleone/Arthur Shelby: Both brother were skipped over for power so their younger brother could take over the business. Both are emotionally frail. Neither is as intelligent or calculated enough to run/take business to the next level. Both are too trusting. Fredo with Mo Green, Arthur with his dad. However, Arthur would NEVER go against the family or try and have Tommy murdered. Shame on you Fredo.
Michael Corleone/Thomas Shelby: Natural born leaders. Took over the family business, and made it more successful. Both have a desire to go legitimate. Are willing to make hard choices for the benefit of the family. Smart, calculated, and cold. At the end of The Godfather, Michael figured out it was Tessio that started the whole mess, much like Tommy with that chef in S4 Ep 1. They have a mind like detectives, nothing gets passed them.
Sonny Corleone/John Shelby: both are sarcastic as hell. Both have horrible tempers. Both are the cause of their own demise. Sonny for beating Carlo in the street. John for beating up changretta’s son for dating Lizzie. Both enjoyed the violent part of the family business.
Tom Hagen/Michael Gray: neither are immediate family. Tom Hagen was adopted at a young age and grew up with the Corleone family, Michael not being reunited with his family until he was 17. They have a mind for business and both only handle the legitimate business, Tom as the family Lawyer and Michael as the Accountant. Michael has all the makings to be the Consigliere for Shelby family if that position existed. They both have to put emotion aside and think about whats best for business. Like when Michael Gray had remind Tommy that killing Alfie Solomons would be very bad for business.
What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree? Let me know.

Quote
Because I like to think in Godfather terms it occurs to me that Trump has the soul of Tattaglia, the tactical ability of Fredo, the weakness of character of Paulie, the heart of Carlo, the judgement of Tessio and the body of Clemenza.

Ways I would improve The Godfather Games
I love The Godfather games, but I feel as though the games should have been restructured a bit to fit the movies better. Here is how I would do it
Godfather 1.
Opens similarly with Johnny's death and Aldo's mother seeking help from Vito and Luca saving him(tho imo I think Clemenza should have been the one to rescue and mentor Aldo in the tutorial, not Luca)
Then after the tutorial and after helping Monk and Paulie with returning Bonasera's favor, we'd get a call from Clemenza to meet Rocco and they'd fly to LA to do the Woltz mission. This happens after the tutorials to better line up the narrative of the movie
After the hospital mission, Tessio would seek us out in hitting Bruno Tattaligia as in his words “We hit Bruno Tattaglia at 4 o'clock this morning...”
There would be a sex scene between Aldo and Frankie
Rest  of the game pretty much plays out the same. Only Frankie would live and Monk would not turn traitor.
In one of the endings we would get to see Aldo and Frankie married prior to becoming Don Of New York
Godfather 2 I strongly feel like it was a mistake to kill off Aldo in this game, in an ideal world Aldo Trapani would still be the protagonist of the game, while Dominic is his right hand. Also it was such a weird place to start in Cuba when that's when the first half of the movie ends.
It begins with flashbacks to Aldo's father Johnny and we'd flash to Aldo and Johnny, much like Michael and Vito in the movie. Maybe Johnny could've been a victim of Don Fanucci's Black Hand and Clemenza rescues him and brings him into the family.  Over time we would see Aldo in the flashbacks wipe out the Black Hand's members and help Vito cement his power in New York
Aldo would be Don of New York, Frank Pentangeli is his Consigliere, Clemenza his Underboss and Monk and Dominic would be his Capos
We would witness Clemenza's death, Aldo killing Rosato's men as would be the tutorial
Aldo and Frankie would have two kids. one boy and one girl. Johnny and Rosie
Then Dominic is promoted to Underboss, while Monk is Aldo’s Capo
Over time we would build the rest of our crew and while Tom is running things in Nevada, we would recruit a new Consigliere
Aldo would be at Anthony’s party pissed because the Rosato brothers killed Clemenza, Michael urges caution as he does in the movie, Aldo does what he's asked but Frank is the wildcard
We’d see Aldo dancing with Frankie at the party
When they return to New York, The Rosatos attempt to assassinate Aldo in the peace meeting and it's all out war on the Rosato Brothers
After Aldo regains control of New York, Michael would contact Aldo to go to Florida as their friend and business partner Hyman Roth has need of assistance
We would get our own Compound in Florida when we arrive, rather than just take a compound.
This way we can take over businesses and rackets and take out the Granados and later the Mangano family. We would also meet Henry Mitchell before returning to New York.
Several romance scenes between Aldo and Frankie, while also see Aldo spend time with his children
Sometime after taking over Florida, Aldo, Fredo and Frankie would be targeted by Roth’s men but Frankie would live and Fredo would say it was Mangano
Then the war between Aldo’s family and Mangano begins
Then we attend the meeting in Cuba. In Roth's speech he will detail that he left all his businesses in Florida to Aldo
Maybe Aldo could agree to stay behind in Cuba to take out the Almeida family and Henry Mitchell
Then when we return to New York we help out with Vincenzo and the senate hearing
We would later find out that Roth enlisted the help of Fredo to make it look like the Manganos' attacked him and Aldo in Aldo's home to the Manganos would take Aldo out and Fredo would take control of Aldo's family in New York, Florida and Cuba
Aldo and his crew would go and kill Roth, escape and the end credit scenes would have Aldo kill Fredo
