just so everyone knows. I have a couple of TS4 households with some of my object show humans(which btw bless the fullhouse mod. i would fill up like EVERY lot in my game having to split them all up into 8 oughhh) and I'd really love to mention that ALL of my sims that live in my Hotel OJ re-creation constantly have the "poorly decorated" uncomfortable moodlet(unless its expired and hasn't come back yet) except for OJ himself.
#neurotoxin simulator#inanimate insanity#the sims 4#also i had a Servo that i bugged with the glitch that causes them to appear more human but still function like a typical servo and had them#-set to look like my Bot but i reloaded the game and it just. fucking deleted them? so that is grrreaat. i do not have enough scrap to make#-Test Tube build another one so i might just spawn another one in with debug commands because like. uuuuuugh that suuuuuuucks.

Cool definitely onto the question of which part(s) do I need to replace
#pretty sure it’ll be the motherboard#more worried that it’ll also be my gpu#because that shit is expensive#I can test and see if my old gpu will work#and my old ram#both the ram and gpu debug leds are lingering too long when I turn the thing on#but if changing out neither of those parts makes a difference…#I think I’ll have isolated the problem#assuming that literally everything wasn’t cooked#I’m hoping it was just the motherboard

New job means the brain's been a' churning with code lately. Putting some cycles towards @renegadeguild this month-- signature order spine lines are (languishing) in review (as Draft) and I threw together a typeset assembly tool in hopes of finally (collaboratively) tackling the idea of a Renegade cookbook.
Launched in honor/anticipation of Edible Book Day (April 1st), the Renegade PDF Potluck tool is currently accepting entries. Currently only available to Renegade Bindery folks (thems on the Discord) -- you can find the link & info in the Event on the server.
Deadline for entries is tomorrow (Saturday, March 22nd 2024) @ midnight PST but seeing as only 2 entries have been submitted so far, might be extending that a bit.
#very happy to have the tool finally#written entirely in old school 90s Javascript style (no node or build system) -- tho I do use awaits#as soon as I enable local upload/entry this thing is going to rock#recreational coding#coding#much much much love for the pdf-lib js library!#many thanks to texasrachel & Lark & Aether who helped w/ test content so I didn't go mad debugging the thing#(the sig order spine lines PR is sitting due to lack of love from me but that's also going to be rad when it lands)#(that initial GIF is 4M - unsure how well it'll perform on Tumblr -- my first laptop screen recording)#bookbinding adjacent

UH OH
now i've done it
it's funny, in the first game, this kind of thing is commonplace when walking through walls, pretty much every sort of map animation has all of its frames spread out somewhere in inaccessible parts of the map. the same goes for building interiors and cutscene sprites.
this one meanwhile works completely different and honestly just looks a lot more solid (though none of this matters in a regular playthrough). The world map scrolling still works perfectly if you cross the boundaries from the walls, and i've seen no weird things hidden in the corners yet.
except here. except New Granseal. except my unforgivable sin of "please i just wanna take story screenshots with ease with Peter following me"
#shining force 2#shining force 2 debug mode#OH FUCK I CAN EGRESS#i was gonna explain here in the tags what i was doing to greater detail but never mind i have another thing to test#the mad scientist rambling is funnier anyway

hobby cheerleading from someone who's ancient by tumblr standards and has been through the whole burnout process repeatedly:
make it something that's completely unrelated to your job; it'll help massively in keeping you from burning out from either since you can go do one and forget about the other entirely for a while. this absolutely 100% means making it something that's not on a computer if you work on one, this is critical. make them completely separate spaces if at all possible. (this is goes triple if you work from home; don't do hobbies in the work room)
if it's something that's got dedicated public spaces, community college classes or clubs go hang out in them and try to get over being intimidated by other people - it really sucks until you get used to it but a lot of things like gym/makerspace activities or metalworking or pottery are all things you can do solo and nobody who matters will really judge you for it because a lot of the other people feel the same way. if you do want to talk to people about stuff wear a pin or shirt from a piece of media you like because it's a super simple icebreaker and you know you both instantly have two interests in common if someone comments on it.
if it's something that requires specific gear that costs over $30 or so try really hard to find the aforementioned dedicated space for it because more often than not someone will have one you can borrow so you don't have to buy said gear before you know if it's something you're going to stick with or not.
people get extremely histrionic about gendered hobbies and thinking that all of them are populated by very specific negative stereotypes. it's fine to go lift weights if you're a girl or do pottery/join book clubs/sew if you're a guy. nobody who matters will care, if anything people will just have super excited autistic conversations about the hobby with you.
the most important one:

if it sucks do something else. you're not being paid to be there. you don't have to stay. this is much easier if you didn't commit to buying the gear. try something else you'll never know what you actually enjoy.
bonus very specific gym one because literally everyone finds them super intimidating at first: if you're interested in anything gym-related i highly suggest finding an actual healthclub that has a bunch of stuff rather than just one activity like weights. they might be kinda pricy but if you're willing to drop like $60 a month that's generally the entire static unchanging cost of the hobby and will generally get you access to a pool anytime you want, massages, weight room, classes, etc. this is especially important if they have a cheap family plan for like 20 bucks over the cost of an individual and you've got relatives or young kids to take care of because 'hey i wanna go to the pool and go on the waterslide' is much less of an ask when the costs are already covered. the cost barrier to entry also keeps most of the social media look-at-me types out and is almost a guarantee that people who are there will actually be focusing on what they're doing and clean up after themselves.
also, specifically avoid planet fitness. it's something like $20 a month but it's also horrifically depressing and THE place that people have bad gym experiences up to and including equipment being unmaintained and dangerous, body shaming/antidisability stuff from the actual staff and bad shit with creeps/transphobes.
I don’t think I can stress enough how many people on here need a hobby like 95% of what people refer to as jobless behavior is actually just hobbyless behavior. Take up watercolors or tabletop or join a hiking group or something you probably won’t feel as much of an incessant need to freak out on the internet every day
#rambling from someone who debugs/writes whitebox tests and docs for videogame crap at dayjob but also lifts; does elec repair and gardens#trying to get better at non-machine sewing too; made some cat beds last week and also my perilla finally germinated yay#used to do archery/pottery/metalwork but all three of them got their spaces shut down or became obscenely expensive

Hello, G'day or こんにちは

We have all witnessed the surge of automated online support engines over the past decade, which in a short period of time have progressed from a manual to an automated affair, always with the intended goal of increased convenience. Before the era of smart agents as we know it today, initially these engines started as semi-automated processes through 'bots', however, due to its repeditive nature and flowchart-like responses, the user-base started demanding smarter alternatives. Case in point, you may recall when automation first came on the scene it was in the form of friendly robot avatars which helped us do remedial tasks such as ordering pizza. The main benefit of these 1.0 versions of 'A.I.' was in the speed-of-delivery of the replies but this was based on determined responses which were programmed into the bot based on archived data from past customer requests rather than true Artificial Intelligence based on large language models (LLM's). From these early iterations of smart-bots came the obvious need for more granular (and human-like) responses as while bots were rapid in speed, the answers were limited based on company-curated data and not large swaths of public (and consumer) data which feed today's AI engines. The trade-off from programmatic-answers to factual and detailed responses ushered in the move to generative tools such as ChatGPT, Groq and the Salesforce AI engine AgentForce. Similar to how the latest AI systems provide fast and concise answers using LLM's, AgentForce provisions responses based on data that is both publicly available as well as data you feed it for custom, purpose-specific responses. For the developer or admin, AgentForce already provides Salesforce-specific queries on any SFDC subject matter such as Flows and debugging Apex, but going further for customer interactions, the proprietor can give their clients a tailored support experience. Supplementing the richness of your customized AI portal, AgentForce can also converse in a variety of languages such as French, German, Italian, Japanese and is soon expected to support over 40 languages. But the tool doesn't stop there… it also has the ability to converse in a specific flavor or dialect via the specified Language Locale (i.e. Australian, UK or US for English or Canadian or France en français).

Taking this further, the 'Tone' option gives your enterprise an added element of inflection by enabling your autonomous agent to communicate in a friendly (or casual) demeanor, or when a linguistically proper emphasis is required, the 'formal' option can be used. Does your business have a further need to refine the Locale and Tone with a made-to-order resonance? Bolt-on applications to Salesforce such as AirCall and JustCall gives further customization options for your voice (CTI) customers by introducing sentiment to your language such as sincerity, empathy or candidness. Where bots used to converse by rigid programmability, advancements in Natural Language processing gives your customer the option to communicate on their terms, and on their choice of platform, be it voice, chat or email. Taking this concept further, all of this valuable AI data can also be used in your everyday applications via the new AgentForce 2dx tool, where you can call an action within internal workflows, or enable a response from a complex orchestration or process within your other systems via API or Flow. In a short period of time, the automated service landscape has evolved to almost human-like standards, and while there are many advancements still to come (as it's only been 6 months since AgentForce was released for General Availability), investing your team's time to realize the potential for your enterprise can pay dividends if adopted properly. Should your firm have even one use-case that qualifies, taking advantage of this early can give you an edge over your competition (which if they are not currently in 'beta testing' mode, are most likely already using it).

Debugging Like a Pro: Best Practices for App Testing
In the world of iOS development, even the most elegant code can introduce unexpected bugs. As mobile apps continue to grow in complexity, structured testing and debugging have become critical phases in the development lifecycle. Effective debugging not only improves code quality but also enhances user experience and minimizes the chances of runtime failures after deployment.
Here are some essential best practices every iOS developer should follow to test and debug apps like a pro.
1. Understand the Full Scope of Testing
Testing in iOS development should go beyond functionality. You need to validate performance, usability, compatibility, and security. Start with unit tests to check individual components, then move on to integration tests, UI tests, and regression testing.
Many iOS development companies follow this multi-layered approach to ensure stability across devices and iOS versions, significantly reducing post-launch issues.
2. Leverage Xcode’s Built-in Debugging Tools
Xcode is packed with powerful tools that streamline the debugging process. Instruments, for example, allows developers to profile memory usage, track leaks, and analyze CPU performance. The LLDB debugger in Xcode is particularly useful for tracing breakpoints, inspecting variable values, and monitoring method execution.
Experienced teams in ios development often rely on these tools not just for resolving bugs but for continuously optimizing code throughout the project lifecycle.
3. Implement Logging Strategically
Using NSLog or other logging frameworks like OSLog provides insights into app behavior without interrupting the flow. However, logging should be used strategically—excessive logs can clutter your output and affect performance.
Skilled iOS development companies often implement structured logging, categorizing logs based on severity and component, to make debugging during QA and production more efficient.
4. Write Testable Code
Debugging is much easier when the codebase is modular and follows clean architecture principles. Writing testable code—code that can be independently tested without dependencies—saves time during bug tracking.
Leading ios development teams use design patterns like MVVM or VIPER, which not only promote reusability and separation of concerns but also make unit testing far more practical.
5. Reproduce Bugs Consistently
One of the keys to fixing a bug is the ability to reproduce it consistently. Use test cases, user session logs, and device simulation to narrow down conditions under which the issue occurs.
iOS development companies typically maintain detailed bug reports with replication steps, environment details, and screenshots or video captures. This documentation ensures that issues can be resolved quickly without guesswork.
6. Use Automated Testing Where Possible
Automated testing speeds up the development process and provides immediate feedback on changes. Frameworks like XCTest, XCUITest, and third-party tools like Appium are commonly used in iOS development projects.
Most ios development companies adopt continuous integration and testing pipelines, enabling automated builds, code checks, and tests every time new code is committed.
7. Test on Real Devices and Emulators
Simulators are great for early development, but real-world testing requires real devices. Different screen sizes, performance capabilities, and hardware features can affect how an app behaves.
That’s why iOS development companies maintain a library of real devices or use cloud-based testing services to ensure that the app functions properly across all supported devices and iOS versions.
Final Thoughts
Debugging and testing are integral to delivering reliable and user-friendly apps. For those involved in ios development, investing time in refining your debugging process can dramatically enhance the final product. Whether you're an individual developer or working with professional top ios development companies, following best practices for app testing ensures smoother releases and greater user satisfaction.
Let me know if you need this tailored for platforms like LinkedIn or Medium, or if you'd like a version geared toward junior developers or technical decision-makers.

spent the last few hours beating the code into an actually usable shape, and the very last thing i saw before i really had to leave was a proper response whew
#tütensuppe#if im not mistaken i can just assemble the numbers of the response into the data we want to read out#if things go well i will have the first rudimentary solution running tomorrow#am just gonna ignore the modbus libraries and use raw data lmao#tbh i might just write the error checking myself that might actually be less painful than trying to get THAT to work#right after finishing the new structure i gave it a test run and NOTHING WORKED#but i managed to debug it <3 and realized i fell into the same trap as last time#(if i make a class for connection handling and give the server class a variable of this type#i DO NOT have to initialize it separately the setup takes care of it for me)
