Since I headcanon that Lucky uses sign language most of the time, (These are the translations for it). I'm using a translator that uses emojis to imitate sign language, which is hopefully accurate. If it's not, please let me know and I'll find another way to showcase this.

🌈 ― aesthetically pleasing blog

@prosopagn0sis - I always adored how Softie designed the layout of its blogs (be it its main or its RP blog), so it's definitely an ace when it comes to aesthetically pleasing blogs!

@kuinaoflight - There's something about how Elle knows how to choose the best quotes or images to adorn her Kuina RP blog with, that makes it simply amazing! This, along with the calming color pallet she's chosen for the background and text, make her blog a delight to look at and explore!

@hinataxsunshine - I always found Adrian's blog to be one of the nicest/cutest blogs ever! It just has something about it that speaks innocence and serenity, which fits perfectly the vibe of his OC, Hinata.

💻 ― excellent writing

@niragixpsych - Although she doesn't think her writing is any good if you ask her, Psych's talent in writing surpasses most expectations with the amount of thought and care she puts into every interaction. It's a true delight and pleasure to write with her and her blog is one I'll always recommend with the utmost happiness!

@aggwaseon - I love their writing because it's very versatile and detailed. You can tell the Mun puts a lot of effort into their threads, and even if lately they haven't been very active, I can guarantee you that this Mun right here knows precisely what they are doing and they are doing it with passion, dedication and care!

@kuinaoflight - Her talent at both writing Kuina as a character and stories in general is amazing! I always loved reading her threads and the amazingly well crafted answers to the RP memes that make even the most common of prompts feel uniquely written and personalized to the person who sent them. Looking forward to continuing reading Elle's amazing work and see how she'll continue improving even further! <3

@hoodedchishiya - There's a reason why this blog is my all time favorite Chishiya and that's because Alex's writing is usually 1000000/10, both when it comes to writing our favorite snarky cookie addict blonde and storytelling in general. I swear man, if I hear you say one more time that your writing sucks, Imma make it one of my to do list priorities to remind you daily that your writing is beyond excellent!

@artsspi - I really enjoy writing with them because they put a lot of thought and effort into each of their OCs and the threads we write together. I'm always looking forward to reading your replies!

@officerconners - The Mun does an excellent job at portraying Drake and every interaction is fun and captivating to read! They know how to write anything, from silly stuff to the most serious of action packed moments full of suspense!

🌼 ― creative headcanons

@niragixpsych - I always love reading Psych's rendition of Niragi and the headcannons she comes up with, they are very unique and interesting, especially since they add an extra layer of depth and complexity to NIragi's character, while also showcasing his human side.

@triggerhappymilitant - Nyx's headcannons about Niragi are another one of my faves when it comes to headcannons about Niragi. They are always interesting to read and I feel like she always manages to showcase Niragi's utmost essence in her own rendition of the character and its background!

@hoodedchishiya - If you want a fresh and unique version of Chishiya, this is the blog to seek. Again, just like his talent for writing in general, this man's creativity when it comes to reimagining Chishiya in a very unique, yet true to the core essence of the character, is baffling! I told you, I could listen to you ramble all day about your ideas and hcs about Chishiya and I wouldn't grow bored!

🎙️ ― great to talk to

@daikichixkarube - Karube's Mun is one of the most adorable and fun to talk to people I've ever met! I love talking to her on a daily basis and she always knows how to lift my mood or make me laugh! So she will always be one of my favorite people to talk to and one of my bestest of friends!

@niragixpsych - She's very supportive and I can count on her to always be there for me! When I'm sad, Psych will lift my spirits up; when I am stuck with a dilemma, she'll do her best to give me some suggestions and help the best she can; and her friendly talks full of affection will always warm my heart! I love you, don't you ever forget that!

@kuinaoflight - Full of life, sunshine and with the golden heart of an angel, Elle is a delight to talk with! She knows how to make a conversation fun, how to cheer you up or fuel your creative juices with her ingenuity! I especially love our fun conversations on our favorite TV shows and the funny things we come up with sometimes, like back when we put together a compilation of cat gifs and memes relating to the AiB characters!

@hoodedchishiya - We've had our differences and ups and downs, but once we got to know each other better, he's really a great conversation partner! Even if we don't talk much (and maybe sometimes I probably end up annoying him), he never fails to make me laugh, smile or feel better if I am upset. So no matter what other's might say, you are actually a great friend to have and a great person to talk to!

@twentyfourhourtitts and @hinataxsunshine - I put those two together because they are like siblings to me and I love our little funny conversations (which I really miss sometimes when our group chat falls silent for days on end).

@lillyontheborder - She's a new addition to my friends group, but I can assure anyone that Lilly is a great friend and a great person to talk to! She knows to listen to you and she will do her best to help!

@risa-of-spades - Risa has always been a great listener and supportive pillar of our community and for that I feel like I owe her an endless amount of gratitude and appreciation! She's always there to show her love and support to each and every one of us and if someone needs a shoulder to lean on, they can always count on her for that, as she'll never shun anyone away!

@officerconners - This Mun is a ray of sunshine and delight to talk to! Plus, they know how to give good advice when you need it! A great friend and an amazing conversations partner!

I feel like everyone in this community that writes OCs do an amazing job in writing their characters, so it would be impossible to tag every single one of them. But even so, know that the AiB RP community has some of the greatest well-crafted original characters you'll ever meet!

I'm in-between role-play communities right now and man, searching for that new Living-World-Alternate-Home is tough. I had an okay D&D Westmarches server that I stuck with for a handful of years, but lack of management saw the place undergo a slow death. (I've also accidentally roleplayed myself into an unsustainable position; being a city ruler is hard to write for when I don't actually know how to run a city personally).

I used to do a lot of tumblr-rp way back, too, but it's easier to get going when you have existing friends or writers to riff with while you're getting sorted.

I've been hopping from Discord server to Discord server in search of some place to hook me in, but nothing's quite done it yet. Ether the majority of players feel too-young (under 25) or the level of effort involved for what payoff is given feels too one-sided. It can take a while before one feels "part of" a community proper. I'm also a little sad that some of my best-writing is lost to the obscure Discord-Servers. Maybe I genuinely do need to just, kick-off tumblr RP again if just to have a public space to showcase interactive writing? Hmm.

Alternatively, I could try getting back into the local LARP scene, but good gods that's a hobby that costs an arm and a leg. I miss it, I do, and I wish I had the resources to pursue it properly again. At least text RP tends to be free!

I've been without a "second-life" for what feels like half of a year and man, it feels weird guys. (I know Second-Life is an existing game but I'm not keen on its style of play).

I could just invest on local hobbies and non-roleplay stuff, but on that front, organizing meetups and scheduling the time and energy to do things with people as an adult is its own massive challenge. Time, energy, funds, transportation, oh to have more freedom.

Anyway, this is me rambling into the void.

with all these clans, do you think clan secrets will be a thing? Like, will we only be able to see clan channels if our character is in that clan? I always get a bit overwhelmed seeing a lot of channels for a rp, so I thought i'd ask ^^

Hmm that is a good question, I hadn't given much thought to this!

As someone who also gets a tad overwhelmed with a lot of channels, I enabled Community to allow for forums as opposed to normal text channels for roleplay!

So instead of being incredibly cluttered with twenty different channels showcasing every location and hidden spot, a Clans roleplay section will likely look like this -

This is to allow multiples of the same places to be used in the semi liquid time structure while maintaining organization and lessen confusion. The rp sections will have tags that specify locations that are stated in the overview forums, such as Coral Cove being a Shoreshimmer location of important. There will be a 'Coral Cove' tag under the territory rp section! Members will also be required to title their thread, state the start time and who the roleplay was between, as to even further lessen potential confusion.

However, for Clan secrets, that is a very interesting thought that I'd actually like to reach out to you guys about! Personally I find it more immersive and fun to only see my characters Clans channels as a player, and finding out Clan gossip through roleplay is always a treat! But I also understand people liking the ability to read roleplays that are going on that don't involve their characters Clans, on the flip side of that!

TEN Q’S:

1. When are you usually online?

I’m usually online all day considering i’m always at home and connected to wifi. My college unfortunately is still online so I don’t really go out that much. But I mostly do other activities in my house just to keep check of my physical health. Sadly, I do not touch grass that much. 

2. What verses are you involved in outside of this page?

I don’t normally focus on different verses for my OC world because my main intent is to focus on the main universe, considering that this is a world-building blog. Normally for other verses it’s just me messing around with my friends for AU’s considering we know each other’s characters significantly and plotted these verses together. 

3. What is your biggest RP pet peeve?

An obvious one is blatantly copying/stealing my world lore, graphics, aesthetics, characters, etc. Considering I’ve had one too many cases of people just blatantly mimicking what I’ve done under the protection of our “friendship”, it gets tiring to the point that I’m just not allowing anyone to take inspiration from me or give anyone permission to canonically insert themselves in my narrative anymore unless we have several years of friendship under our belt and I completely trust them in a personal basis. Which in fact, the only ones who’ve received this right are Dior and Versace. It sort of hurts when i’ve been used in the past, considering it feels like someone’s just using my for lore and character development. It doesn’t hurt to have your own semblance of originality. 

4. Are you drawn to specific types of muses?

I have a particular weakness for child characters/protagonists who were either trapped in a mystical world or born with supernatural abilities, or whisked away in a fantasy land. And the story is about how they’re destined to defeat some sort of evil and how their journey as heroes / destined ones affect their overall growth. It feels nostalgic that by the end of the series they’ve showcased their overall development and it’s just beautiful to see that while reading it, it feels like you were with them throughout the entire journey. Hence, points at my OC world. 

5. Are there recurring themes in your writing that people might not notice?

I often emphasize imagery and mannerisms a lot during writing. Like it may come off as excessive to some but I just like exhibiting small traces of character mannerisms and motions to augment the innermost aspects of their character. I like to pander to old literature sometimes, alright?  And imagery, I love imagery. My series is all about surrealistic and fantasy imagery so you bet your butt that I’m going to be excessive when describing locations, because my series is one entire sensory overload in text form. 

6. What are your favorite RP trends?

:D . . . :0 There’s trends ?   Like maybe the graphics and like text aesthetics , if so that’s most likely my favorite trend. I’m kind of a slave to aesthetics. 

7. What is your process for starting a new story with someone?  

To be honest I always try to engage in basic information and lore with the other person too. I’m a bad conversationalist but once I’ve entered at a state where both parties are openly sharing and inquiring about each other’s lore it becomes easier to communicate with them, and it sort of serves as a nice bonding activity as well!

8. How do you feel about duplicates?

Well considering I don’t really write canon characters (except for my Aesop), I don’t actually mind duplicates back then when I wrote canon characters. In fact I go and treat other interpretations of the same character as completely different characters, even making fun stuff like twin verses or multiverse shenanigans. That’s the magic of it! But I do take into consideration the comfort level of the person if they wrote the character first, and I don’t like... hog characters to write knowing that I’m mutuals with a single blog who writes the same character.

9. How long have you been involved in roleplaying?

I’ve been roleplaying since I was nine with friends my age on facebook chat LMAO. So approximately 12 years considering I’m 21 now. 

10. Is there a muse or verse you wish you could write in, but haven’t?

Nah not really so far considering I’m content where I am now, writing ocs, developing my huge ass world.

The Hellhole is a canon centric RP server for Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Some of the lore has been changed to accommodate for storytelling and to fill in things that Viziepop has yet to clarify.

What is the server about?

We’re a slice of life RP. There is no overarching plot as of now. We want members to get creative and make their own stories, we want people to collaborate. Occasionally we will have event. However, the possibility of an overarching plot is likely, and we are currently brainstorming ideas. Nothing too crazy, but hopefully something fitting and interesting.

What canon roles are open?

Quite a few actually. We have a list both on our server and on our blog. It is prone to changes, as roles can come and go. We recommend making an OC if you’re waiting on a specific role, as you could be waiting for ages.

How mature is this server?

It’s the same rating as the show. There are triggering subjects such as abuse, substance abuse, mental illness, suicide, as well as lots of swearing and sexual references. ERP is not allowed, things can be implied but we do time skips. Slurs are not permitted on this server. Characters can be prejudice (if we see a member with this attitude outside of RP, they will be banned) however, there’s lines we don’t cross. If someone is uncomfortable, we take it seriously. Inappropriate ships can also get you banned.

How big and active is this place?

We’re pretty active. This blog was made after we noticed the server becoming inactive, but it quickly bounced back. We’re small but not extremely small. Probably about 50 members. Again, this is prone to changes.

How do I apply for a canon character and what type of RP do you do?

It’s simple, you have to audition for a canon role, unlike OCs who require a submission that gets looked over and approved. Our RP type is literate and semi lit. No one liners please.

What is this blog for?

Thinblood Mechanic Update 1: Homebrew Flaws

Tampa by Night is both a fun time to hang out with a couple of thinblood loving friends, but it also is to test out some concepts and fully fleshed out mechanics for homebrew thinblood content. We love these funky little Gehenna portents so much and we know it will either be a long while (or never) when new content for these alchemists arrive. (Yes the ashfinders in cotbg are accounted for).

So, I wanted to update you all with our findings and what new things we are playing with.

We built our three characters with the normal neonate 15 bonus experience at character creation. We each took at least 1 by the book thinblood merit or flaw- and at least 1 homebrewed thinblood merit or flaw.

Our selected Homebrew Flaws were originally written as follows:

1. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Harbinger- supernatural flaw "Bad stuff just seems to happen to you at the worst possible moment. Maybe you were unlucky in life, and unfortunately, it followed you in death. Whenever you roll a 1 on your hunger dice, it removes a success on the check. This renders you far more likely to bestially fail.” 2. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Deficiency-  feeding flaw. "You have to eat food in order to lower your hunger.   Your body requires necessary supplements that the blood alone cannot provide. You have to endure the pain of keeping food down if you do not possess the Eat food merit, the life-like merit, or high humanity (8+). If you do not consume food or supplements every night, you cannot lower your hunger below 2.”   3. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Hemophilia- lifelike flaw. You must take the Lifelike merit to take this flaw.  You cannot will the blood to clot, it just bleeds and bleeds. Whenever you take damage from slashing and piercing weapons or environmental factors, you automatically suffer an Impairment, a -2 penalty to all rolls until you can properly cover the wound and help it clot. Any Vampire nearby at Hunger 4 must make a Hunger Frenzy test.  

Right off the bat, we misread our own rules with Harbinger. We were subtracting successes whenever Damien rolled 1s rather than just on his hunger dice. The poor guy could not catch a break. Once we addressed this, we realized there is an accountability issue. Since we are using digital dice, it is easy to overlook subtracting 1s from the Hunger dice alone. Some dice rollers dont show the rolls, just count successes and failures and criticals. We believe that this flaw is actually fairly well balanced in comparison to some of the books, it just requires the player to be vigilant, just as they would be for vitae dependency or mortal frailty. Originally, the Harbinger flaw was a 3 dice pool given to the storyteller to use once per session to reduce the harbinger's successes. This didn't foster a dread inducing dynamic of when is harbinger going to kick in. Instead, it fostered a much more "you versus the dm" culture. While the storyteller has a lot of power, this is not a healthy dynamic to push- especially in a game of personal horror. So instead, we changed it to a static all 1s on hunger subtract successes. This way your character actively struggles against their even worse luck and probably more active beast- and can offset it with risky blood surges and willpower rerolls.

It took longer to recognize how Deficiency is much more lax in comparison to the by the book flaws. While it is continuously funny to watch Tommy sneaking microwavable burritos into their mouth when the Camarilla court isn't looking- if caught it's more played off as "well that's odd" not "wait a moment--thinblood!!" In a modern setting where there's something to eat at every gas station, convenience store dumpster, or neighbor's refrigerator- there's never an issue of getting food. Additionally, we never set how you must endure the pain of consuming food. So we started implementing that you must rouse the blood to use blush of life to activate your digestive system. This is fairly effective- so far. As written in v5, thinbloods always look as if they have blush of life active. However that does not mean they purposefully have it turned on. Another option is making the character roll Stamina or Resolve checks to hold the food down. This feels less optimal as the two dot Eat Food merit would get rid of these checks.

Tommy’s player has suggested that failing to eat food deals superficial damage to your hunger tracker. Reaching hunger 5 in superficial damage means you aren’t in torpor, but are rolling 5 hunger dice- or more. Upon consuming food, you clear a single box (1 scene spent consuming food = 1 box). Every time you eat, you need to rouse the blood, which may further raise your hunger. With higher hunger, you increase your chance of messy criticals and suffering compulsions. Ey also floated the idea of having any superficial hunger renders you unable to use voluntary rouse checks- such as supernatural healing, blood surges, or using disciplines. Our goal is to test the superficial hunger track first- and see how the thinbloods react to rolling a lot more hunger dice. If it feels too lax even then, we will test further punishing factors- but may need to go back to the drawing board completely.

Hemophilia has yet to showcase how dangerous it can be. I play as Hazel with this flaw, and am overly cautious about how close I get her in fights- because I wrote the flaw, I know how bad that -2 impair is. We recognize that this flaw should be coming into play much more frequently, as Hazel utilizes the calcinato method to brew her alchemy and must have her vessels drink her vitae for it to work. This requires the vitae to come directly from her, requiring a cut or open wound to pour it into the mouths of her vessels. There are a few thoughts to this flaw. Firstly, it does not feel necessary to restrict this flaw with the lifelike merit. The flavor text on how vitae, thinned vitae, and regular blood look and taste varies from table to table and storyteller to storyteller. Originally, we wanted to showcase the negative aspects of having lifelike- such as feeling cold, sweating, and never unlearning the need to breathe. But these feel more like flavor text than actual debilitating flaws to a thinblood- and maybe an astute vampiric eye would pick up on these behaviors.   Secondly, the player is allowed to supernaturally heal the wound closed despite the wording on the flaw. We will have to specify if it is superficial or aggravated damage when a wound is self inflicted, such as when Hazel opens her vein for her alchemy. By the book, thinbloods take aggravated damage from almost anything except sunlight without the Vampiric Resilience merit. To heal aggravated damage, it is three rouse checks on the next night to heal 1 box. This can be potentially debilitating for a character without an easy supply of food. Additionally, in combat, it takes a full round or more to heal. Thinbloods are already at extreme disadvantages in combat without proper planning, this would exacerbate it. However that is the point of the flaw- you don’t want to bleed. We will have to keep exploring to see how limiting this is when in full effect. Which means I gotta get Hazel in a knife fight.

The other thing we noticed is that a lot of the by the book flaws tend to  not have mechanical disadvantages. They are narrative disadvantages that  can have mechanical effects.   Some sessions we do not roll any dice other than a nightly rouse check to awake. Some sessions have us rolling checks for every other action. Ultimately, as we explore and finalize these flaws, we aim to craft them that they are less reliant on the dice. However, that might mean we have to completely rewrite them. This is not too big of a concern, as some of the by the book flaws give  static mechanical penalties, such as Bestial Temper (frenzy like a  full-blooded vampire), Clan Curse (retain your sire’s clan curse), or  Dead Flesh (-1 to all applicable social tests).   There are some other flaws we have written that fit this mold a little better, such as Tagged and Tracked, and Blacklisted.

Tagged and Tracked:  You have been captured by F1rstlight. Operatives are not only aware of your existence, but actively keeping an eye on you. The character may or may not know about their surveillance. They may also be aiding the agents that claim them. Regardless, if other thin-bloods (or kindred) find out what you are, at best you will be blacklisted. More likely, you will be killed.

Blacklisted:  Even your fellow mercurians keep their distance from you- at least the ones in the know do. Whether you have been deemed dangerous in their small circles, crossed a leader, betrayed them in some way, or have been set up- you are a scapegoat among the scapegoats.

So, here are some rewrites to our Homebrew flaws we selected:

1. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Harbinger- supernatural  flaw "Bad stuff just seems to happen to you at the worst possible  moment. Maybe you were unlucky in life, and unfortunately, it followed  you in death. Whenever you roll a 1 on your hunger dice, it removes a  success on the check. This renders you far more likely to bestially  fail.”

2. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Deficiency-  feeding flaw.  "You have to eat food in order to lower your hunger. Your body requires necessary supplements that the blood alone cannot  provide. For every night you fail to consume food, increase your hunger superficially by 1. This superficial damage is not alleviated by daysleep. For every superficial slash through your hunger, you must spend a scene consuming food. In order to properly digest it, you must use blush of life or possess a relevant merit. If the thinblood reaches Hunger 5 with superficial hunger- they do not go into torpor or frenzy.”

3. Thinblood Homebrew Flaw: Hemophilia- kept the same You must  take the Lifelike merit to take this flaw.  You cannot will the blood to clot, it just bleeds and bleeds. Next up is our Homebrew Alchemy. Some of us spent experience to take new  alchemical powers, and im certain we will see how quickly they break  everything including the masquerade. Tommy has taken steps towards Hermetic Alchemy, which brings old Alchemical Thaumaturgy into V5, Hazel has taken upgrades to her far reach and eventually will take recipes for Thermotics- melting things!
