In any of your AU’s, do you think there is any fluff moments or even an ‘I love you’ between L and Light?

i've been keeled over throwing up about this ask for the last couple of days (good way) because god, fuck, is there? i really had to think about it.

lawlight incest au: kind of. in snatches. in moments between the lying and the fucking. a tender moment after L rapes light in their childhood bedroom and he's petting over light's red, abused ass, maybe. sweet touches to contrast the violence. something murmured into light's hair when he's yanking it back, sweet nothings whispered into his throat when he's riding L's cock.

light, you're my favorite, is something he says in monkeybars. it's his version of i love you, made possessive and perverse. my favorite toy, my favorite sibling, my favorite hole. it means all of these and more.

the last time light told L that he loved him in any capacity was probably when they were younger, and kinder, and sweeter. not yet the lying monsters they are now. maybe on a hot afternoon when L's finished a tennis lesson and light's leaning against his legs, waterfalling water from L's waterbottle, and the sun gets in L's eyes so he only barely sees light's mouth move in a thanks, ryuzaki. every scrap of tenderness from light that has any truth behind it is something that L treasures greedily.

i'll figure out something properly tender for after light gets the notebook, though. there's no happy ending for lawlight in the incest au but there will be softness if you know where to look.

lawlight atticwife: yes. it's a long time before lawlight can be properly tender with each other, what with L a glorified jailor and light his pretty, caged pet. it will be a thousand years of captivity before light yagami would ever tell L that he loves him. L tells him i love you all the time in a thousand silent ways. his favorite food for breakfast, a meaty case as a reward for good behavior, a new blazer for light...light hates every gesture and keeps every single one.

if there's ever a confession it'll be after light gets captured by the kira cultists and L has to rescue him. i hate you, he'll say, spitting mad, and L will look at the destroyed base where light had been locked up and ask if he'd liked that cage so much better. and light punches him in the face--kisses him like he means it--bites down on his shoulder when they fuck later, teary-eyed and gasping. you piece of shit. you made me love you. what have you done? what have you done?

and L, with his face buried in light's shoulder, will say that he's loved kira-chan for a long time, and he's happy light has caught up.

this is because the atticwife au is actually my personal good ending for lawlight.

If you're into AUs and Lawlight, here's one where Light runs for presidency (Those who stand for nothing fall for anything) and one where he's a cryptid investigator (The forest holds strange creatures), they're both awesome in unique ways. Both are explicit, take that into account

If you're interested in reading different interactions and a very unique twist to the canon events where Naomi is the protagonist, Silent Partner, Unifinished Business is amazing and very suspensey

This one is long, immense, ultra suspensey, with a lot of different characters interacting in interesting ways I never thought before, very lawlight and very explicit, (but I read it all in like 3 days because it caught me BAD and was foaming at the mouth during the entire course of it), also was the founding inspiration to my BB brainrot and design-> Nights

How I feel about L and Mikami

L is special to all of us, love the guy, haven't met a single DN fan who doesn't like L. He's just fun and unapologetic which is what I like about him the most.

Mikami I have a hard time caring about, he's just not my usual type of character at all. He's too rigid for me, although he has his unintentional funny side. I also felt he had no chemistry with any other characters, so that made him less interesting for me

Also, @seventhfracture my beloved it is hilarious that you chose to word this like that because one of the main things that plague my brain for Beyond and Mikami is an actual Cult leaders AU so like yes lets start the indoctrination, sure :’)

But alright alright here goes the rambling, because I make no promises of this being super coherent, but!

Beyond and Mikami have the most unhinged ship potential because they are exactly what the other wants, but in the worst way possible. I’m talking toxic levels of encouraging each other’s worst impulses, I’m talking “whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same”, but the thing the souls are made of is arsenic.

To me they are a twisted funhouse lawlight, but worse. Except, being worse is what lets them actually make it work because their thing isn’t competing, it’s encouraging.

Lawlight is all about I’m the only one who can stop them, I’m the only one who can keep up while Beyond and Mikami would be something more yes, yes kill them all, burn everything to the ground baby.

I will admit that I first started thinking about them in the silliest way. My brain just connected the dots between Beyond Birthday “I have never even been submissive to a traffic signal” and Teru Mikami “Kira’s most obediently submissive little worshiper” Mikami and I was was like oh, oh they would fuck so nasty!

And tbh I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them ever since lmao

And then, the more I though about it, the more I realized the dynamic between them would also be all kinds of interesting in ways other than just the kinky sex - which tbh, already makes the ship quite compelling in my book lmao. But the contrast in their personalities! The way they can give each other exactly what they want, but fully ruin one another in the process!!

To put it simply, Beyond has always wanted to be special and Mikami wants someone to worship. Now put them together? Nasty horrible codependence :’)

Growing up the way he did - Wammy’s, L, being the backup - Beyond has always been second best, has always craved being seen and valued. He has an arrogant sort of confidence that is a clear front for his feelings of not being good enough, not being worthy. And yet, he is the most unhinged, the most fearless, the most willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants - even in the midst of so many ruthless death note characters.

Similarly, Mikami doesn’t fear societal judgement. He thinks everyone else is wrong and he is the only wholesome righteous person alive, he thrives in not quite belonging because it allows him to twist himself into a “good man” martyr in his own mind - so much so that seeing someone acting in accordance to his own beliefs made him immediately assume that must be a God, because if he is heaven’s most perfect little angel, then whoever agrees with him while having more power to act on it must be a God. And yet! Mikami is just desperate to belong to someone, to make someone happy and in doing so, become someone valuable.

In a way, it’s all about their individual abandonment issues and lack of belonging and the way those experiences shaped them into people who find a wicked sort of comfort in their otherness.

In a way, that’s just like lawlight - except L and Light try to be justice, they try to do some good. But Beyond and Mikami don’t really care about what anyone’s perception of “good” is. Beyond doesn’t much care for good, unless it’s defined by someone he’s trying to impress and Mikami doesn’t think anyone but him truly understands what’s good (until of course he meets Light, but that’s not where we’re going with this). And that? The matching disregard for societal morality combined with the potential for codependency? It makes them a perfect template for absolutely deranged villains if ever put together!

And yes, Mikami’s whole strict orderly and organized way to go about things would probably clash with Beyond’s messier impulses at first. But that’s where their contrast becomes most interesting, because who better than crazy crazy Beyond Birthday to unravel Mikami’s uptightness? Who better to guide him into letting go? And Beyond’s single minded type of fearless focus given direction? Put under the guidance of Mikami’s certainty of a higher purpose? Beyond could take the shape of a chaotic vengeful God in Mikami’s eyes - as cruel and punishing as Mikami always dreamed consequences should be.

Meanwhile, Beyond - always second best to L, never good enough growing up, Backup - would revel in the worship, in being valued and it would likely push him to lean further into the whole thing - kill more, punish more, make it crueler. Not because that was his initial intention, but because he was raised to follow the instructions of someone he was meant to please and well, if falling in love means that person becomes Mikami rather than Watari, then too bad for the “criminals” of the world.

I think the fact that they feed each other’s desperation could be so… feral? I mean, Mikami is shown to thrive on scraps of affection - again, see Light - and Beyond has the potential for the type of cruelty - a byproduct of growing up at Wammy’s that L also displays, see Misa being tortured for example - that would make Mikami elevate him into the highest of pedestals, make him into that fearless God delivering divine punishment. He doesn’t share any of Light’s restraints due to trying to follow his dad’s moral code. Mikami is shown in canon to be even less forgiven than Light towards criminals, Beyond is supposed to be even less concerned about the greater good than L. Together? An absolute reign of terror! And the worship? The devotion?? That would probably be addictive to Beyond’s attention starved crazy, which means he’d lean into it and probably start performing right into Mikami’s belief system in order to reaffirm his godhood.

In a way, it’d be a vicious cycle of starved for affection, their very own lovesick ouroboros: Beyond delivers the punishing wrath Mikami has always hoped for and the fact that it’s being delivered by his own personal God reaffirms to Mikami that he is righteous, that he is special. The more Beyond confirms Mikami’s beliefs, the more Mikami is willing to worship, which in turn confirms to Beyond that he is doing the right thing and therefore should keep doing it, which makes Mikami love him more and so on and so forth.

If Mikami wants him to kill then it’s the right thing to do, if Beyond kills then it’s the right thing for Mikami to want - a never ending cycle. It’s the opposing force to lawlight’s combative friction, a downwards spiral in which the more they do, the more they are encouraged to do.

Anyway! I’m gonna cut myself off here before I get too carried away because once I get really started about them there’s so much lmao

But I will say that my favorite way to ponder their dynamic is as a twisted reflection of lawlight. I fully believe Beyond-wannabe-L-Birthday and Teru-wannabe-Light-Mikami would have thrown out the yearning immediately upon meeting and jumped straight into horribly entertaining codependency. My absolute favorite though? Lawlight investigating the shinigami eyed boyfriends. I mean the fun mirror versions interacting with each other while the twisted relationships unfold? Idk man drives me insane tbh

So yeah! This feels like more than enough for now, even though yes I could probably talk about them forever lmao

How I feel about L: hhhhh sigh. hhh. sighhhshhshsiigggh. honestly? he's kind of like my favourite jumper. he's my number one comfort character ever and I came very close to crying in bed for days after he died. i am not 'typical about this man.

How I feel about Matsuda: he's such a cutie!! teehee!!! look at this silly fella who probably cuts his own hair!! giggling and kicking my feet cause he's funny and silly and would be a good friend doncha think?

All the people I ship romantically with L: Matsuda, Misa, Rie, other people's OCs (if they're shipped with him by their creator xD). Light deserves a mention because while I don't ship LawLight romantically I do think they're an iteration of the "red thread" trope because no matter what time, no matter what place, they'll write history together with a pen filled with their own blood in place of ink. that said I was genuinely surprised that so many people ship them just because I don't see it at all. I don't hate it, there's just nothing that clicks for me when looking at L and Light.

All the people I ship romantically with Matsuda: mostly just L, I've seen Matsu + Misa stuff but I think they'd be cuter friends.

My non-romantic OTP for L: Light 100%. You can't have one without the other. I can't explain all my thoughts about them without a whole post dedicated to it, but anyway, Light is my answer.

My non-romantic OTP for Matsuda: mentioned it above, Misa! They're two sillies and they're both :3 so they're besties and they've probably got matching friendship bracelets.

My unpopular opinion about L: he does eat normal food on a semi-regular basis. specifically, meat, usually I think steak. I hc him as anemic but also Watari wouldn't let L die or become malnourished and there's important things in food that you can't necessarily get in vitamins or tablets. and actually, as someone with anemia, I think L would actually have really strong cravings for rare or medium rare red meat when his iron is low and thus when he eats it he enjoys it.

My unpopular opinion about Matsuda: He's actually really smart, especially with humanities subjects. Just doesn't have great detective skills. A different career path may have been beneficial but he actually really believes in justice, probably more so than L and Light, and he actually QUESTIONS his own sense of justice which leads to more balance. he's such a great guy.

One thing I wish had happened with L in canon: he survived. and actually, I'd just really like to see him solve lots of cases. idk how many/if any he solved outside the anime but you know. a side series where he solves cases and explores the world and has tea parties with Watari would melt my heart.

One thing I wish had happened with Matsuda in canon: honestly I just wish we got to see more of him in general. I wish we got deeper into his character - into everyone's character, actually, they're all a little 2D and it's not just the animation - but yeah. more Matsu. how he works.

My L OTP: I'm not sure if I can pick one HAHAHHS I love all his relationships (well, my headcanons for them) from platonic to father and son to mentor and mentee to enemies together to lovers. yeah. I just like L LMAO but maybe Matsu. hm idk. I hear some people ship him with BB or Naomi and I wanna look into that.

My Matsuda OTP: lowkey L and Matsuda are one of my favourite ships. in Matsu's case I don't really ship him with anyone else so this is the only answer. some of you might have noticed that in my headcanons Matsuda plays Pokémon Go! and L is a Pokémon fan too... hmm... Also I like them cause they're both childish: like yeah L is always calling Matsuda stupid but does he call any other task force members stupid, even when they deserve it? no. arrogant child and silly child. even in non ship situations I think they're actually on similar wavelengths in a way.

22 - Give us a headcanon for Yuuji! he has a bunch of notes in his notes app with things all his friends tell him about themselves, a separate one for each of them. literally writes down everything. the lists are sorted into different categories like, childhood stories, favorite foods, gift ideas, future goals etc.......keeps them even after that person is gone and reads through them when he misses them (aka very frequently) because its like a little time capsule of their personality. he's just a very attentive and thoughtful friend gege when i catch u gege let him be happy!!!!

re: lawlight to kuwagami pipeline surprisingly i don't think death note contributed to my fixation on kuwagami? funnily enough liking light contributed to my liking ryo aoki (because asshole in suit with massive ego gets publicly humiliated lmao, i just think it's super funny and satisfying) i did once think very hard about whether "playing his game" from the musical was kuwagami-core…. i am rather fond of the "get into his head, and under his skin" lyric, but maybe the japanese version fits better… food for thought perhaps…. regardless i am deathly afraid that one of these days i'm going to type "yagami" into my tags and accidentally click "yagami light" instead of "yagami takayuki" lmao 💀 i'm glad the matching name isn't lost on other people lol

ohh, i've suspected i'll go insane over ryo aoki, thank you for confirming that. the picture you described is sexy af as well

i don't think the pipeline is that direct and obvious though. for me, it's been years of the similar "divorced" dynamic between protagonists and antagonists (*cough* shuake for one, cherik, sheriarty to some extent, etc), so it kind of piled up on the original idea. it wasn't lawlight -> kuwagami for me exactly, though after all these years i can't unsee how often does this "protagonist and antagonist, who understand each other more than anyone else ever will, with an added sprinkle of unhealthy obsession" dynamic pops up. and lawlight is the blueprint for this

not to sound biased, but i think kuwagami is more complicated, though the same themes and motifs persist. yagami's "i can't deny nor fight the unique connection we have, even if i can't support his methods" (as L admitting light is his first friend, even knowing that he's kira) and kuwana's "who else would do it if not me/who else would sacrifice themselves for that", for example. even with that, kuwagami is not "brand-new lawlight" for me, because it includes lots of bits and pieces from my other fav dynamics which i'd talk at length about, but it's irrelevant now, so i'll shut up

i did once think very hard about whether "playing his game" from the musical was kuwagami-core

Ohhh hii! thank you so much for the ask!! And ohh boy, I've got ton a lot of them so this is gonna be looooong post! Warnings for some dark/disturbing themes and nsfw content.

Lawlight: (Fem!LxLight)

Domestic Headcanons 

1) In general itself, Light found it difficult to sleep with L because she'd always be working; however it became even more troublesome when they started shifting to different hotels in every few days or weeks. The constant change in atmosphere, food and the overall weariness started taking its toll on him and he just couldn't sleep anymore. So this is when L started to gently place his head on her lap and cradle his face like a child till he finally succumbed to slumber. Although he'd never admit it, he really liked all those nights being coddled by her.

2) Usually Light's the big spoon but sometimes...he just loves being held, it's just that time when he's truly vulnerable and exposed and stripped off from all the power and he isn't ashamed of it, afterall he knows that she's his only equal.

3) He isn't all that into cooking but he loves baking her favourite confectioneries for her (like strawberry shortcake for eg) and she loves to join him for coffee in the morning even though she can sustain without it.

4) L really admires Light's natural beauty, she prefers helping him untie his scarlet necktie all in while pressing chaste kisses to his nape prompting shudders from him. And after when he's undressed he really loves to just lift her small body up in his arms and kiss her so fiercely until they're both drunk in feverish pleasure and the insatiable hunger and need for eachother. They're just really pretty like that.

5) He never leaves her during her cramps and is strictly devoted to fulfill all her cravings. Sometimes she gets whiny and squirmy because the pain just doesn't go away so he holds her so tight as if she might disappear in thin air and only lets go when she demands him to. And yeah she definitely lives being enveloped in his tight heat, it's really comforting.

6) They're both needy brats and obviously too stubborn to admit that they are but oh boy...one wouldn't want to walk-in into their makeout sessions because they're both such savages (especially Light) that it feels like they're gonna eat each other's faces, because despite being breathless and having red, swollen lips they just love to keep going unless one of them backs out...guess you could say it's like a competition too.

7) They cuddle a lot in bed, switching occasionally, they really love their private time together. 

Yandere!Light Headcanons (Warning! dark/ disturbing theme, slight nsfw)

Honestly, I’ve been myself writing an AU with possessive/obsessive!Light soooo there might be mild spoilers since this is pretty much what i had in my draft..lol

1) Extreme possessiveness- However, unlike typical yanderes, he's really subtle about it. Remember he's stoic, cold and calculative and would refrain himself from showing much agressiveness and usually masquerade his real menacing intents and intrusive thoughts. He would be all sweet, charming and most prominently, an approachable type of person. Like, one wouldn't ever suspect him ever solely because of how “normal/perfect” or more specifically non-threatening he appears to be. 

2)  After transpiring his real self to L, he'd most probably still act how people "want/expect" him to act publicly, although she is the only one to pick up on the miniscule undertones that suggest otherwise - his hardening and cold gaze, his eerily exuberant demeanour with other people surrounding her when she’s trying to talk to other people by avoiding him, him grasping onto her arm in a vice-like grip that almost leaves bruises, etc.

3)  Stalkerish and wanna-know-everything-type : He's obviously been obsessed with her since she's even got to know him, he LOVES her and is OBSESSED with her, he has got myriads of miscellaneous polaroids of her, some are extreme zoom-ups that are downright unsettling, some are specifically of her smiling and by the angle it sure does seem he had worked a lot and gauged the perfect place to successfully obscure the lens of the cameras and still procure perfect, still and clear images. Some images are of her sleeping and frankly; it's really, really creepy and all of the pictures clearly exudes a very profound feeling of malice dipped with sinister intents. 

There's also naked pictures of her bathing and after thoroughly scrutinizing each picture, one can easily conclude that he has already broken into her house more than once and scrupulously scaled the length and breadth of it and hence obtained such perfect angles that even L herself couldn’t. 

4) Scary and intimidating: The way he punishes her - through whipping, branding, depriving her of food and water, humiliating her- and then intimidates her merely by his physique and demeanor- livid, crimson gaze that makes her feel so small, his voice coated with venom, his threats that are always hanging loose in the air such that she always feels them and it makes her really uncomfortable.

He genuinely is pretty competent in getting into someone's mind, like he's brainwashing her to believe things - he's her love, her saviour, her partner, her husband, her everything, she should be more grateful- and hence she always rethinks and contemplates her choices before making any move so that she can be wary of the consequences.

5) Powerplay is usually what turns him on, he LOVES being dominant and controlling even in bed but sometimes different things turn him on for instance, L being affectionate and leaning into his touch after being punished or her acting so docile and helpless. As for oral sex, he loves both receiving and giving but he sure loves to eat her out too, cuz he LOVES to make his partner feel good too, which Is so obvious because he won't ask her to blow him just after he's whipped the dear life out of her so no. He is more into giving because he likes hearing how pathetic and needy she is. 

NSFW Headcanons

1) Light is really into degradation and ohh boy his entire demeanor changes like waves when he’s horny, he’s mostly more dominant and demanding and loves to prolong her orgasm long enough for her to beg pettily for him to just fill her up.
