Do y’all ever watch a movie or show or read a book that is just so god-awful fucking bad that you’re like-

“I hate this so much, I’m gonna write a fanfic of this specifically so I can fix the entire thing”

Because the movie/show/book has the potential to be great, but it’s not and it’s killing you-

Yeah, I’m probably projecting, but anyway I’m resisting the urge to do that because I have other shit to write—but it’s still there and I want to throttle whoever made The Devil Below movie because this is like the one time in a horror movie where I’m actually ready and excited for the monster to be some sort of demon.

Like the set-up is absolutely perfect for the monsters to be demons!

Talking about the “well to hell,” the whole discussion about God/Christ/Heaven/Hell/etc. being real, having a believer and a non-believer, calling the town a “purgatory,” all the main characters and the townspeople (or most of them) being implied to have shady backgrounds of some kind or having made bad mistakes (aka being “sinners”), people being taken down below by the monsters (aka being “dragged to hell”), the movie’s fucking TITLE-

I was ready! I was excited!

And what monsters does it turn out to be?

Fucking ANT PEOPLE!

You read right: ant people.

People in completely un-scary, ridiculous, clunky-looking body suits that are said to be “like ants.” Apparently they have some kind of fast-acting paralysis agent in their claws and feed people to their “Queen” or whatever but like…are you kidding me? This is what I’ve been anticipating?

I’m just so unreasonably angry about this movie.

I'm watching this. It's got a 1.9 on letterboxd.

It's already a winner to me.

You got your tough but beautiful expedition leader.

You got your classically good looking foreign science guy with complete faith in the team leader. He's the one who hired her.

You got your black guy with a button up shirt and I swear to God he's got a cravat but there's no way right? I'll give you an update on that later.

It's got two basic bitch white guys, one of whom keeps questioning the female lead, the other one keeps telling him to shut up.

Also one of them just announced his percentage of body fat? I don't even know.

They don't seem to have discussed the expedition ahead of time? They've got their tents up and are sitting around the campfire and the dude is just now explaining it.

Oh wait wait I forgot, there's locals who are trying to keep them out. They all have beards and greasy hair. Except for the tough but beautiful woman.

All for the locals apparently haven't figured out how headphones work. They're sneaking around and yet they have walkie talkies, just out there giving away their position and their plans.
