Hi, I have a question about your O' Medusa fic. I literally just read it all today and I loved every chapter of it, it's so great!!!
I was wondering, since in the Greek it was 3 Gorgon sisters, in this one I'm assuming they're the Gorgon brothers with Sun and Moon being the brothers? Is there anything about them you can share with us? Are their temperaments similar to Eclipse or maybe closer to cannon with Moon being a bit more monstrous and Sun being peppy and sarcastic?
Oh I just love your story and writing so far, I think it's so amazing and can't wait for more. No pressure tho. I'd love an info dump about anything you want to give us tho
Thank you, I'm so happy you're enjoying the fic! <3
I won't share anything about Sun and Moon at this point, but I will say that I considered having all three brothers match the Gorgon Sisters in that aspect but decided against it early on in the plotting of O' Medusa.
I think it would be an interest split-off from the main story of a Y/N who stumbles upon three deadly gorgons, handsome and monstrous (possibly naga-like) in their own ways, but it would be a lot more suggestive and focus on Y/N fearfully wondering when the gorgons are gonna attack while missing the obvious signs of courtship from the brothers. I just think it would be neat if they were frightening menaces to Y/N while attempting to woo the lonely human who stumbled into their mists :)
#you know i love it when big scary creature terrifies the y/n but the soft moments make up for it#o' medusa#magicspace114

Referencing my previous post, I love how many people love how straightforward Eclipse is.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole oblivious y/n trope because “oh that’s sweet. He’s giving me little gifts from his home.” And the frustration of Eclipse (or Sun and Moon) not understanding why their courting isn’t working. Or better yet, accidentally entering a courtship with a mer unknowingly. Also fun!
However, I really like the idea that Eclipse would know these gestures could come off as purely friendly to a human. He works closely with humans (because fish mafia boss and I said so) and has picked up on a lot of these little things. The first few meetings, he’s just excited to have a human that isn’t utterly terrified of him and wants to show him kind attention. Then, it turns into something more passionate, more meaningful than just seeking the attention of a human woman.
I think it’s sweet in its own way for him to try and explain and show how merfolk do things for their partners. It sets up the softness of a gentle teacher in a way. Being in love enough with someone to show them a patience you don’t give others.
#anyways i’m rambling#I just like him being straightforward#it makes a lot more sense given his knowledge on humans anyway#words#leviathan x human#leviathan eclipse#mafia eclipse

My short (but long) fiction with a "Subnautica AU" with our three favorite boys~ Yes you read correctly, all three will be in this Fanfiction because I'm a simp...
ꉂ ᳐ ˋ ᗜ ˊ ᳐ฅ
Emergency sirens echoed in your ears, the sound of explosions signaling the end of the Aurora's flight as you crashed into the ocean planet 4546B.
Lost and frightened on this mysterious, unexplored planet, you don't know if there are any survivors other than yourself, but you have no choice but to survive if you ever want to see your family again. So, in spite of everything, you decide to brave the unknown, trying by all means to get by in this place filled with creatures, each more dangerous than the last.
And when you attract the attention of not one, but three of the most powerful Leviathans on planet 4546B, you don't know whether your plan to survive until you can leave this planet will continue to unfold as you planned, or whether these Leviathans will turn your life upside down in the most unexpected ways.

My SAMS/LAES/EAPS HEADCANNONS
(Some of these are a bit old and have been sitting in my notes, so I may to provide some context for them. Also, yes, they’re slightly long. I know. I think about this show to much)
Sun’s eyes are damaged and his vision appears much dimmer ever since the “nightmare” with the creator, though he hasn’t told Moon because he hadn’t at first due to the suddenness and didn’t want Moon to think he was just hiding it, so he thought it was too late to tell him anyways
Nexus has an applejack plush (Bought it to match the Applejack sticker he has with Solar back when he was New Moon)
Dark Sun likes humming nursery rhymes that he still remembers from the daycare
Ruin’s arms kept their glowing function from his old body
Taurus was almost completely oblivious to Lunar and Gemini’s courtship, but when Gemini was upfront about it, he was supportive and willing to help however he could
Frank being in the new dimension was partially the reason for Eclipse’s nightmare of being stuck in Sun’s head again. After that, Francis snuck into Eclipse’s lab when he was asleep to stay near him and give him positive dreams
The Gemini twins sometimes give Lunar little space rocks as gifts
Eclipse commonly forgets he’s not a part of Moon anymore and sometimes accidentally refers to himself as “Moon” or responds to it. Early Eclipse accidentally went into Moon’s room often instead of Sun’s because he got confused when he was posing as Sun (still has the memories of being Moon)
Nexus never takes Solar’s old goggles off. In turn, Solar has a box of Nexus’s old stuff that Sun gave to him
Sun, Solar, Monty, and Earth play Dress to Impress together in their spare time
Sven made gifts for all of the Celestial family and is saving them until he can find a special occasion to give them to them all (Christmas, a birthday, etc.). He’s having trouble with the dates because of the time differences between dimensions
Nebula is a lesbian and doesn’t know it
Dazzle likes to make drawings for Sun, who’ll hang them on the fridge. One time, Sun wasn’t there and she showed it to Moon first instead. Moon loved the drawing, but instead of hanging it on the fridge, chose to take a magnet and stick it on Sun’s face as soon as Sun got home as a harmless prank
Jack really likes crows and to chase them around, but they run and fly away from him because he’s too erratic and he looks like a scarecrow
Jack was skeptical of Jack O’ Lanterns and pumpkin carving at first because he’s based off a pumpkin, but Lunar and Dazzle managed to convince him it’s fine. Dazzle and Jack tried to carve each other, though Jack chose to stalk Sun for the rest of the day since Dazzle also added Sun on hers
Eclipse is claustrophobic because of the memories of being in Sun’s head
While Earth and Eclipse were at Walmart buying their puzzle, Earth chose to show and name off all the flowers they had there to Eclipse
After the events of Earth’s BETRAYAL! in VRChat (clickbait title for anyone who didn’t yet watch it, I swear), Taurus began to become more comfortable with Earth. Earth took this opportunity to teach Taurus more of the English languages, including sign language
Dark Sun doesn’t get offended by people portraying him with a tooth gap like Sun does
Ruin likes humming or singing to himself while he works, which helps as a stress reliever or a coping mechanism. However, while working for Dark Sun and Nexus, he wasn’t been allowed to do that and was more stressed than ever, which is why he seems so much more stoic when he worked for Nâo than working for Nexus
Eclipse and Sun are both scared of the dark, but pretend not to be
Sun can’t look at flames without seeing Nexus’s death flash in front of his eyes
Sun’s fire magic acts up when he has a nightmare about Nexus and he sometimes wakes up with flames around him or his bedding burnt
The reason that Taurus was initially more mad at Lunar than Gemini when they found out about Lunar’s little deal with Rez is because Lunar’s situation almost felt like when Cetus betrayed them too, which meant reliving losing his best friend
Ruin wears silk clothes. Due to this, he’s constantly slipping off stuff when he leans against something or sits down
Sun has accidentally called Moon or any of his other brothers “bro bro” before because Nexus kept saying it in his dreams
Eclipse’s rays are damaged after his whole thing with the Thanksgiving episode (being turned into the Dorito bag. There’s no way he didn’t damage himself during that)
Sun/Sollux (from What if Moon NEVER EXISTED?! In VRChat) still watches the SAMS and misses Moon
Old Lunar drew pictures of him and Bloodmoon together. The pictures were destroyed in the explosion from Bloodmoon and Ruin Show
Solar can sometimes catch glimpses of the dead ever since coming back from the dead himself. This is how he so easily contacted the ghost that pestered Sun and Moon
Eclipse V4 can’t remember the majority of the Eclipse and Lunar Show show, neither could V3, which is the reason he’s so different than V1 was.
Eclipse V2 still had the save files from Lunar’s alchemist game after Eclipse and Lunar Show. They were destroyed in the bunkers explosion
Lord Eclipse and Moon both got distracted by Lord Eclipse twirling his Star around out of boredom when they first met
Eclipse and Lunar sometimes go back to rewatch Eclipse and Lunar Show episodes, separately trying to remember the good parts so they can get over their hatred of each other or thinking of what they could have done differently
The real reason that Moon is decommissioning his computer that predicts different outcomes is because of Solar catching him on that one What if him and Monty were dating video
Moon told Sun to ask Atlas was his favorite sandwich is so he could make it for him in return for getting them out of their little vacation fiasco and when Sun asked, Atlas was confused by the prospect of a sandwich. When Moon found out he’d never had one before, he made Atlas an entire stack of different kinds of sandwiches and sent them with Sun

What to Do When Your Selkie Roommates Won’t Move Out by Vale_In_Time
archiveofourown.org/works/62676994/chapters/160450585
After leaving your toxic workplace for good, you find yourself with no prospects or plans for how to proceed with your life. Using this as an opportunity to focus on yourself doesn’t pan out either, as the injured Selkie you find seems determined to inconvenience you as much as he can. What’s more, his frenemy decides to join in as well.
Stuck living with two mythical beings as roommates, you do your best to prevent yourself from opening up to them, no matter how much they fail to do the same with you. You just don't see the point in getting attached when they’ll eventually leave you.
But what you don’t realize is that leaving you is the furthest thing from their minds. After all, Selkies mate for life.

Hidden Treasures by Mx_Nix_Winks (ShugoRyuu)
archiveofourown.org/works/65891896/chapters/169741282
Was it wise to keep visiting the enchanting creatures you found hidden away in some forgotten about lab beneath the main building of Fazbear Aquatic Innovation's research facility and Aquarium? Probably not. Most assuredly not.
But....
You knew what it was like to be stuck in rehab with no-one else to talk to or interact with and, well, it's not like management was going to notice if you took your breaks down there with them. Which also, now that you think about it, why were they so hidden away from not only the public but the general scientists on board?
What the Tide Keeps by Cipher_the_Sidhe
archiveofourown.org/works/51887593/chapters/131198389

But what do you do when your search for the truth brings you face to face with two abandoned mers wasting away in the ruins of one of FazCo's old holding facilities? The mers are hurt and scared, but you are determined to make up for your past failure. You are going to take care of them, even if it kills you. And with two traumatized mers to contend with, it just might.
Sing Me a Song, Siren by Rosescarletful
archiveofourown.org/works/61192015/chapters/156369805
You are a nurse shark mer with a nice territory and a cozy den. You are fine, being by yourself. It has been this way for a few years now.
Now, two giant sirens come and invade your territory, and neither of them act normal! You guess they can stay with you...if they can learn to behave.
[A nurse shark teaches two sirens how to mer, and the sirens teach them how to open up.]
Broken Beneath by SupDoc13
archiveofourown.org/works/62322811/chapters/159463558
You flinch at a loud beep deep within the building and back up against the glass looking out into the darkening water. You hold your breath, straining to hear any other noise above the droning of the waves above you. After a few moments of silence, you breathe out a sigh.
Tap tap tap. The relief is short-lived as you hear noises on the glass behind you. Tap tap. Craning your neck, you meet white eyes. They stare right at you.
OR
DCA AU where the DCA are mermaids but they're still robots. Also it's the 90's.
I'm Literally Just a Janitor How Am I Still Alive? by Demi5503
archiveofourown.org/works/65107804/chapters/167441599
Part of hiding how inhuman you actually were meant keeping a low profile, not drawing unnecessary attention. So taking a job as a janitor felt like the perfect way to fly under the radar. You even found a way to get off Earth using your profession after getting hired by Alterra to clean the Aurora. Once you got off planet, you were sure you could live freely without hiding anymore, without worrying you were about to be snatched up by the government for testing like your parents had done to you. Imagine your surprise when you survive the ship crashing on an alien planet. An oceanic alien planet, where most everything would like to kill you. Perhaps you can survive long enough to get off this murder ocean with the help of your new friends?
Delving Through the Deep by Floating_Qui11
archiveofourown.org/works/65352520/chapters/168157648
Go out there and die trying.
Or stay inside, and die that way. Sinking into the abyss...
Well, you never wanted an ellipses at the end of your story. Maybe a period.
Fuck it, an exclamation mark then. You'll try your best, it's all you can do. If you go down, you sink swinging your fists.
A Subnautica DCA Au, where the only one you can count on is yourself.
...And maybe those two big fish
The Lighthouse Keeper's Keepers by Bearitt
archiveofourown.org/works/65225968/chapters/167786407
Sun and Moon have proven their sentience, have gotten married and retired from working at the daycare; letting newer androids take over their old position. They've responded to a job listing in a rather remote village where an old fisherman who cares for the village's borderline neglected lighthouse is getting too old to look after himself, much less the lighthouse.
So they've agreed to the position, both of caring for the fisherman until he passes as well as the lighthouse once he does. The years they spend being caregivers to the fisherman and listening to him tell tales of the Mer he befriended in his youth make Sun and Moon think the poor man must have been losing his mind with age. They never thought that on the day they would be spreading his ashes they would happen upon the myth he befriended; you.
You’re a siren of the sea; a cross species of a Sea Angel and a Spotted Lagoon Jellyfish. Years before while exploring a new area for a potential den you ended up stranded in a tide pool where your current worst fear came to life; a young human saw you. Luckily, this human had a huge heart and was more than willing to help you, though he couldn’t understand a word you were saying.
The Most Precious Thing by Chat_Rivary
archiveofourown.org/works/65634256/chapters/168997594
Eclipse couldn't remember the last time he'd seen land, the last time he'd seen another living creature. Lost in the middle of the ocean, and even more so in his feelings, the animatronic was only interested in surviving because of a promise, until he met a creature straight out of legend. With your arrival, the animatronic regains hope, but, like the sea that comes and goes as it pleases, your paths part again, leaving Eclipse alone once more, filled with the simple memories of this extraordinary, supernatural encounter.
So what happens when, many years later, you meet the Captain of the Red Death, the most feared and cruel pirate of all the oceans. What happens when you can't help but find a certain resemblance to your sweet, gentle sailor, the one you met, and never forgot since, years before ?
Song of a seashell (curses of the sea) by LemmonesANDblues
archiveofourown.org/works/58047439/chapters/147782806
Your work as a watcher to keep the people and mer folk safe. You keep watch for any sirens along the coasts and or in the water path ways. Sirens are easy to spot because they look more “beast like” on their top half and are a bit larger than mermaids. While mermaids look more human like on their top half. Both species are larger than humans but it is not uncommon for a human to have a relationship with mermaids. You have seen some of their hybrid children and they have the ability to walk on land and or be in the water.
Over The Deep End by Lucky_Duckyyy
archiveofourown.org/works/65144428/chapters/167549434
You only wanted a momentary escape, it didn't matter how as long as you found a way to be free when no one was looking.
But... If you were told you'd be stuck in the dark, living in a cave lacking in privacy, with a Jellyfish mer, a Shark mer, and a mer that's of a species you never even heard of, you're not too sure you would have taken that risk.
Bioluminescence by StormiiREDD
archiveofourown.org/works/65118283/chapters/167471893
Glowing red enters your line of sight. You freeze. An eye. A red pupil upon a sea of black stares at you through the glass. That thing, whatever it is, knows you’re in here. You are so utterly fucked.
One human, a planet made entirely of water, and three mers designed specifically to kill.
Another Great Day of Saving the Sharks by Kezibun
archiveofourown.org/works/56002465/chapters/142229113
There are many benefits of being a marine biologist, one of which you enjoy is researching Mer-creatures, more spesifically Celestials.
Celestial Mers also known as The Sun and Moon Sea monsters, are fish mimicking mer creatures, one active at day the other at night, they usually pair up in a mutual symbiotic relationship they rely so heavily on eachother that now it's almost imposible for one to survive without the other. So what happens when one is seporated from it's daycare? An impending rescue mission of course.
Ocean Symphony Fiasco by Melanierana
archiveofourown.org/works/47178157/chapters/118868140
You're a surfer but due to some unlucky circumstances you have to sit out for a couple of days. So you go to a zoo where you meet an interesting creature.

starting out good.
Celestial Scales by Anxiouscr0w
archiveofourown.org/works/56163733/chapters/142673113
A hotspring surrounded by dense jungle, only two miles from Baywind village, acts as a safe space for you after long days. With each passing day over the years, you've felt like you're being watched, eventually being approached by a small group of merfolk. One wants to befriend you, one would die if it meant killing you too... and neither of them are telling the truth about the pair of eyes in the fissure.
Light of the Depths by xNoriDorix
archiveofourown.org/works/64992334/chapters/167093812
It was supposed to be a normal expedition. You, one of the junior biologists, were there for a reason - the practice that you and others had to go through on the giant spaceship Aurora.
It would be all right, because a flight across the galaxy cannot threaten anything dangerous... or so you thought.
Thought, until the moment when the spaceship you were in, crashed. And you, were one of the lucky ones who managed to get into the lifepod... or were you not?
Now you are alone, on this planet-ocean: where there is only water, strange creatures, some celestial sirens and their buddies, and also... wait. Why these sirens are so smart (and beautiful)?
It seems that you, young biologist, will have to figure out all this alien fauna, but also the secrets that this planet hides.

Don't Go in the Woods General Information/Facts!
Little facts and tidbits that are fun to know about the universe and Creature Sun and Moon!
Sun and Moon aren’t true mimic creatures and you can tell by the way they mimic what they hear. They can’t perfect it exactly as they hear. It still sounds a little off and a little bit like them no matter how hard they try. They can still trick people sure, but the mimicry of a true full-blooded mimic creature is eerily exact and accurate. You can’t tell the difference between the sounds of the real thing and the mimicking creature if just listening.
Sun’s species is one made of a mimic creature mating with a solar creature. Moon’s species is one made of a mimic creature mating with a lunar creature.
Solar and lunar creatures rarely mate with the same creatures or each other. The birth of a true eclipse creature, a creature born from both a solar and lunar creature, is a rarity that has only been witnessed about a dozen times in the span of solar and lunar creatures' existence seeing as they often do not get along. A partial eclipse creature, one born from a day and night creature, is even rarer.
Solar and lunar creatures are a rarity to humans that aren’t often seen, even in the past when they were well in numbers. It was more common to see a mimic creature than a solar or lunar creature
Solar, lunar, mimic, day and night creatures have been driven to near extinction. Sun and Moon are two of the only few that are still around. There are less than 25 between all 5 species still alive with little progress of new creatures being born.
While solar and lunar creatures are seen as docile and usually harmless to humans, more often mistaken as deities or godly creatures such as angels when seen by humans, mimic creatures are seen as highly aggressive towards most living things and deadly when seen by humans, often mistaken for true monsters or something demonic. They are more likely to be docile to other creatures in their species category.
Gifting is a courting ritual that is done when one creature is interested in being mates with another and provides gifts to the creature they would like to be mates with. To accept the gift is to say you are interested. To give a gift back is to say you accept the courtship and will be the other's mate. To leave the gift or return the gift is to say you are uninterested.
Most creatures, at least in Sun and Moon's species, will only mate with a destined mate and mate for life. It is rare for them to mate with a non-destined mate as problems usually occur between the two mates. Destined mates exist because they tell you the correct path and are known to be your best fit.
There is a specific first mating ritual between pairs about to bond where they go to blessed waters to clean each other completely and check for wounds. This is for both cleanliness and safety, but is also a large way a mate gets to know their mate’s body.
There is a morning ritual mated pairs in Sun/Moon’s creature species do when dawn comes and one of the mates is to leave. It's a simple clean of each others' faces and nuzzles of affection with a nip from either the higher ranking or the dominant mate in the relationship to the lower ranking/submissive mate and words of a definite time they will see each other next at latest.
There is a matching ritual for the evening where the mate to leave sits with the staying mate until they fall asleep and tells them of their destined return time. This is done while either sitting next to the staying mate or in front of at the entrance of the staying mate’s resting place. The mate to leave does not get up until the staying mate is asleep. Sometimes it is finished with a quick lick to the left upper hand against the ring finger to feel the vein that runs to the heart to show care.
Sun is completely blind in the dark with his cloudy eyes and can only fully see in the bright daylight.
While Moon can technically see in the daylight for short periods of time, it is much too bright and blows out his eyes on sunny days, often stunning him. He can see perfectly in the dark like a human would normally on a good day.
Sun and Moon are highly sensitive to blood and changes with heart rates, blood pressure and related bodily functions
The bright warm sun charges Sun up and energizes him while the darkness of the night, especially with fog, without much moonlight, charges Moon up.
Sun/Moon are creatures from The Wilds, but NOT The FeyWilds. They must follow some Fae rules, but not all, and they are related to Fae but are not true Fae. The rules they must follow can be much further bent than regular Fae with Fae rules. They are friends with most Fae they know, but they don’t get along with them all and can and will challenge them if they feel fit. Moon is more willing to challenge or break Fae law in front of the Fae than Sun. Sun knows their rules and wants to respect them to follow one of their own rules: Always be extra polite to the Fae. Moon, however, isn’t afraid of other Fae. He can bend Fae rules with his hypnosis and will make the Fae break their own law. He is a bit feared by regular Fae that know this and knows how to bend them into walking straight into his traps.
It’s good to say that while not being full Fae has its perks like not having to follow all Fae laws and rules, it does come with the downside of not being completely accepted and accounted for by the Fae. That means they can be overlooked in the courts and their words/actions don’t count for as much. If crimes were to be committed against them that had to go to the courts for judgment, they wouldn’t have many if any on their side. Nothing would be done for them. If crimes they committed had to go to the courts, it would not be a pretty outcome.
Moon is nocturnal and being out in the daylight exhausts and can harm him while Sun is diurnal and being out in the night exhausts and can harm him.
Sun can travel in mist form at night, usually strongest on nights with bright full moons.
Moon can travel in shadows during the day, usually strongest when the sun is setting with long deep shadows, and can tag along under Sun in his to go places. If they both need to travel together to get some place, this is usually how they do it.
Sun is extremely powerful on hot summer days when the sun is at its highest blazing down while Moon is when it is darkest at night and the Moon is a sliver hidden in a nasty fog and clouds.
They are opposites of the same species, technically two subspecies, but two of the very few left of their kind. Many had been hunted or captured for their magical abilities and eventually killed for being too difficult to handle and keep in captivity.
Both have magical “dust” in their tails. Their pollen works on each other but not on themselves and each have different abilities that they can control with their intentions when releasing the pollen. They cannot replicate the effects of each other’s pollen.
Moon’s specific subspecies can hypnotize people with eye contact.
Bumping heads is a sign of affection between creatures.
Nuzzling noses is also a sign of affection, but closer to mostly just Sun/Moon’s creature species due to facial structures and the mixture of creature habits in their lineage.
Sun or Moon wrapping their tails around each other or someone/something else is a sign of possession and security of what it is wrapped around.
Sun and Moon are scent creatures, making their sense of smell their strongest sense. They can tell just about anything about an individual from getting a good enough smell of them.
They scent their mates, families, and pack members/close bonds with their neck glands and their wrist glands on their upper pair of arms. It leaves an oily residue behind that sticks and cannot be washed off. It naturally degrades over time before they need to re-scent someone. Each individual of a species has a unique scent to them that even a person can catch a smell of if sniffed hard enough. Sun and Moon give off general pheromones that lightly scent an individual if they are in their space as well or around them long enough.
Sun and Moon’s pheromones can warn other creatures of their territory, their locations or their moods. When in ruts, they become stronger and intense enough that humans can smell it. If mated, a human can also be affected by a creature’s pheromones just like a creature of the same species. A mated human can be pushed into their own sort of heat or rut by their mated creature.
A destined mate has a strong, distinct smell upon the first few meetings that eventually wears off to their regular scent. It’s sharp and also heightens some of the qualities of the destined mate's original scent. It’s as if you are nose to scent gland at a 6 foot distance mixed with a specific smell known to be associated with destined mates. That is how Moon knew Sun was his mate at their first meeting. Sun did not because of a lack of knowledge on destined mates and smells of others’ scents. (Sun just thought Moon was pumping up his pheromones very intensely for days for no reason with him and it pissed Sun off because he saw it as a challenge.)
Destined mates can sometimes have a sway over each other. Some find themselves doing things they normally wouldn’t due to their mate’s sway of wanting them to do it or the act being something that mate would usually do.
Sun found himself being swayed heavily during the time of fights between him and Moon. He often felt a heated want when fighting that made him want to attack Moon and share in pent up intimacy. He never knew why.
Moon found himself being swayed to collect things that he thought Sun would collect. Maybe because he knew Sun was his destined mate or because he just felt the undeniable urge to do something the other would do and like.
Despite agreeing on working together to protect each other, Sun and Moon’s relationship was extremely rocky at first due to the scent misunderstanding. It took them a while to calm it down and get on the same level of understanding. After that and finally calming down from their mating hardships, it was smooth sailing.
Sun and Moon’s home area is a sacred area. The water is blessed and the area surrounded by trees protected by a magical force so it is unseen unless stepped into. All of the trails that lead to their home are hidden to all others but themselves. Only one of them can allow others to see the trails, but it must come from a tear from one of their eyes somehow absorbed by the creature/person they are trying to allow sight to.
Sun is an omnivore while Moon is a carnivore.
Human anesthetics and tranquilizers do not work on creatures.
Creatures react differently to poisons than humans. They can still be bad for them, but they will not die from them.
Cyanogen gas acts as a tranquilizer for creatures in large quantities.
Omnivorous creatures will not eat apples, stone fruits, or almonds as it gives them a dizzying and nauseous effect that sometimes will knock them out if eaten enough of it.
Mimic creatures and those related to the mimic creatures are able to speak human language. All other creatures are unable to speak it, but can come to understand it.
Creatures count days by dawns and dusks, such as “I haven’t seen you in 7 dusks”/“I haven’t seen you in 7 dawns,” which would be similar to “I haven’t seen you in a week.” Creatures don’t have an equivalent to a week, but their equivalent to a month is based on the moon phases, so a month could be referred to as “I haven’t seen you since the last new moon.” They do refer to time in moon phases quite often, especially lunar and night creatures.
Years are referred to differently between solar/day creatures, lunar/night creatures, and mimic creatures. A year in solar/day creatures is referred to in summers, ex. “This hasn’t happened in 6 summers.” A year in lunar/night creatures is referred to in winters and a year to mimic creatures is referred to in autumns. (Eclipse creatures refer to years in springs.)
They will refer to specific astronomical events to measure time as well.
Creatures have varying lifespans. While Solar and Lunar creatures have life spans that last a few centuries, mimic creatures only last about five to six decades. The longest living mimic creature who wasn’t tied to a solar or lunar creature's lifespan lived for 73 years. Day and night creatures lifespans heavily depend on who they mate with, but typically tend to stay between a century or two unless bonded with a particularly old living creature species.
Sun looked for Moon for 2312 days, or 6 years, 4 months, and 2 days
Sun is 8’9” without his rays included while Moon is 9’ (Big for general creatures as a whole family category, but Sun is a bit small for a Day creature and Moon is mid sized for a Night creature)
Solar creatures are the biggest (11’-12’+), then Lunar (10’- a little over 11’), then Day (9’- over 10’), then Night (8’- just under 10’), then Mimic(7’-8’6”.) (Each size bracket is generalized. There are always outliers.)
Kits are usually all around the size of medium breed dogs when born, but can be as small as full grown cats in some circumstances such as with a small Mimic creature bearer.
The genre of creature that Sun and Moon are under have tongues that can be smooth like a dog’s or rough like a cat’s depending on what they are doing. They can change the texture at will like flexing your thumb.
Moon had engaged in the Wildhunt on his own. Sun has not as he finds it too cruel. Moon no longer engages in the hunt with Sun around.
Moon knows 4 Fae true names and his and Sun's true names. Sun technically knows his, Moon's and two of the Fae's true names that Moon knows, but has never said or acknowledged that he knows out of respect.

AYYYYYYYYYYYY I adored this so much, Y/N is such a caring and determined sweetheart, doing their best to help Eclipse heal, undaunted by the task. I really loved the ominous storm atmosphere from the beginning, as it perfectly parallels the dire situation that Eclipse is in with his injuries. As the Reader brings him home, I love how he has such a well-executed transition from Sun form to Moon form, and how the Reader is more curious than terrified by how this Mer's abilities work. I love how their companionship develops as time goes by, and how the two slowly become enamoured with each other, all of it sealed with a sweet kiss as they finally show their love fully. It was delightful!
Shorelocked

🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊🎣🌊
The wind blows harshly right as you open the door to your car. You squint against it, having to fight to get it shut and locked. Staring up at the grey sky, you see the clouds are rolling through quickly, another storm must be on its way.
You look out to the sea, watching the waves crash angrily into the shore, the sound louder than usual and reaching you easily from hundreds of yards away. Bits of sand blow past and graze the skin of your ankles, reminding you the best place for you now would be inside your home. Cozy and content while the weather outside takes a turn for the worse. If that was even possible.
You're taking one last scanning look out to the sea when you spy it, or rather him, as you'd come to quickly find out. A large, dull-colored mass lying on the shore, waves rippling around it. At first you think it’s just a large clump of seaweed but looking closer you can see the fish tail which floats in the water behind the rest of the mass.
It's... some sort of sea creature but certainly not one you're familiar with. You start to walk down the beach, pulled towards it by something within you. From here you can see jagged fins are across its back, a splattering of reds and oranges and deep blues cover the body.
The human-like proportions of the head and neck are just as shocking as the arms which are sprawled out beneath it. It seems to be dead, completely motionless. Until, right when you're but a few mere yards away, you see its chest rise and fall into the wet sand.
It's face down, the smattering of fins around half its head covering any features that may lie beneath. You're afraid to get closer, but upon seeing the large gashes in its side, and the rips in its tail, the physician in you kicks in. Especially given how slow the creature's breathing truly is.
A boom of thunder erupts above you and you look to the ever-blackening sky. Back down the sand. You'll need to be quick. Both for the sake of getting out of the storm, and saving this thing's life.
You hurry back up to your home, to the garage you'd long ago converted into a cluttered mess of an emergency clinic. To your credit, sometimes it was just safer to treat anything that washed up here before attempting to move them to the sanctuary. Though you'll admit it could be a lot more organized than it was in that moment.
You scan and find the stretcher you use for larger mammals like seals or dolphins, hoping it'll be big enough for what was lying on the shore. As you hurry back you find it harder and harder to deny how the fishy being looks strikingly like the mermaids you'd heard about in stories as a kid. And given you have no other reference for what it could be, calling it a mer was the best you could manage from the time being.
It's still breathing as you make it back, sprinklings of rain beginning to fall lightly onto your hands and hair. You roll up your sleeves, cursing yourself for not grabbing a pair of gloves to get a better grip but deciding there's no time for it. You take a deep breath and reach a hand out to touch the mer's head. No response. Not good.
You need to pick up the pace. So, hoping that the spines along its forearms aren't poisonous, you take hold of its wrist and start to tug it onto the stretcher. It's not easy work, and neither will be trying to drag it up the beach to your garage. But if you can haul a juvenile walrus up that expanse of sand, surely you could drag this guy.
By the time you make it to your garage it's pouring down rain in sheets. You struggle, but heave a few more faithful steps, stopping just before the in-ground pool that takes up a full corner of the space. Your arms relax, feeling strained, but you turn around, finally able to get a better look at the sea creature's injuries—
Only to come face to clawed hand with it. You choke as said hand snatches hold of your throat, gripping tightly. You feel something begin to drip down your neck and chest. Your own blood, you quickly realize.
You grab at the hand with your own, unable to get a hold on it due to your panic. Failing about a bit in your efforts to escape. In doing so, you look down to the mer that's now sitting up, seeing the glare on his features. You plead with your own eyes for him to stop, and it must do something as he suddenly snaps out of it, releasing you.
You gasp, nearly falling to the floor as you cough, holding your bleeding throat.
"Sorry, sorry, friend." You hear, looking up shocked to find that he's speaking. "But too close. Far too close. Should stay back. Unless you want to be hurt, hurt, hurt."
You put your free hand up, backing away. "Okay okay, loud and c-clear." You cough and look around for a cloth to put to your neck.
You don't want to turn your back to him, considering what just happened, but you don't think he can move beyond the stretcher. You took note of the pain in his eyes while he held you. He likely doesn't have much more strength beyond that. Unless you give him a reason to.
As you're searching, he continues. Strained. Cautious. But you can tell he is still trying to be intimidating. "I won't be going down without a fight, you know. Really you should consider saving yourself the trouble, Star."
"Well considering I have no– no intention of hurting you,"—You snatch up a towel lying on your workbench and press it to your wounds—"Then we shouldn't have any trouble at all."
A scoff, you turn around to see that despite being essentially trapped, he's in a defensive position. Hackles raised, so to say. You take note that fins now surround his entire head, and realize that before half of them had been flattened down.
You keep your distance, you don't want to make things worse after all. You lean back against the workbench, hand still pressed to your neck. It didn't feel too deep, though you'll likely be a bit sore you're guessing.
"Why should I believe you? No reason to trust, trust, trust."
You shrug. "Maybe not, but you're kind of stuck with me for the time being. So, if you give me a chance, I'll prove it to you that I'm only trying to help." You lift the towel from your neck, seeing it's covered in small splotches of blood, you'll live. "You've already shown you can... dispose of me if you want to. Therefore if I'm lying you'd be able to do something about it."
The mer stares at you, you stare back. You turn around and start collecting up supplies.
"Fine. One chance, friend."
You face him again, bundles of medical supplies in your arms. "One is all I need."
You approach slowly, relaxed, you don't want to escalate things. Soon enough, you're kneeling beside him, examining each jagged mark with care. You'd ask what happened, but something tells you you're unlikely to get an answer.
Each injury you come across sends another knot of concern into your stomach, but you keep outwardly calm. He's still lucid, still watching you closely, meaning the wounds shouldn't be life-threatening with the proper care. Inspection over, you set to work.
Trying to ease the tension—and perhaps both your nerves—you explain each step of the process gently and in detail. Still defensive, you do notice the curious tilt to his head as you speak and work.
At some point he questions you outright.
"You're quite knowledgeable with all this aren't you?"
You glance up from dabbing antibiotics on the tears in his orange tail fins. "I, yeah. It's what I do for a living."
"Heal others?" He questions.
You shrug. "Animals usually, not people. Though I guess you're somewhere in between for my training." You sit back, nodding once. "Okay, you can ease into the water now, but try to keep this elevated until it soaks in a bit—"
As you speak, the power cuts, plunging you into darkness. Just as the mer—who, you don't even know the name of—is slipping into the pool. You hear a loud splash and worry the suddenness spooked him and he slipped.
You hurriedly crawl over to the pool, scrambling for your phone flashlight, turning it on and looking up—
And finding two bright red eyes looking over at you.
The mer's eyes were white, last you'd checked.
The bright light causes him to hiss and flinch away, ducking under the water. Surprised yourself, you scramble back and away on your hands and feet.
After a moment, he resurfaces. And maybe it's your eyes taking time to adjust but he looks... different to you.
Fins flattened against his head, twisted together at the back of his head, almost forming a cap-like shape. However the more interesting change is how his colors have flipped completely. No longer a smattering of oranges and yellows, now white and blue all over. His face—originally two contrasting shades of yellow—now half white and half blue itself.
He chuckles then, head tilting. "What's the matter, little star? Scared of the dark?"
Even his voice was different, gravely, a different pitch. It clicks to you near instantly.
Not just one mer, a pair.
In one body.
How incredibly interesting.
"No, not exactly." You sit forward. Closer, curious. "Your coloring, is it a type of bioluminescence? Camouflage?"
A slight narrow to his eyes that then disappears, replaced by cheekiness. Though it borderlined mockery if you were being honest. "Usually the first question is 'how can there be two of you?'"
"Would you answer truthfully if I asked?" You find yourself more interested than scared in that moment. Not intimidated by the mer at this point.
Clawed fingers trace a pattern on the surface of the water. "The answer is that there isn't, two sides of the same shell. But the same shell nonetheless."
"And does the shell have a name?" You muse.
A sharp-toothed grin. "Eclipse."
As the weeks go by, day by day, Eclipse would sometimes ask you to call them different names, depending on the time of day. Sun in the day, Moon at night. That was only after you truly got to know them, however. Both sides, and as a whole.
It took quite a while as well. Just earning their trust in general did. You have the scratches and bites to prove it. You had meant it when you said you had no intention of harming them. But it wasn't until several close calls and bandages later that they started believing it.
A slow, steady process. You could see it in how their gaze would shift, from condescending or wary to just suspicious to then curious, interested. How when you treated their wounds they flinched away less and less. One might even argue they started leaning into it, though that may have just been your imagination.
The two halves each held a unique perspective towards you, you'd noticed. You could hold witty banter with the Sun, conversations long and debating and ever the more enjoyable for it. The Moon was teasing, always trying to up the game in some way. You were happy to return the friendly fire as a response.
Gradually, bit by bit, day by day and night by night, things shifted. No longer was there an air of hostile caution present when you entered the garage. Instead, it morphed from a general amicability, to fully—somehow—affectionate. Rather rapidly as well.
You suppose that's how you find yourself in this situation now.
You shift slightly and find the tail your legs are intertwined with curls around you tighter. Though the humidity of the day is unbearable, you find yourself to be at the perfect temperature. The mer holding you is the right level of cool, soothing any potential heat that you may have otherwise been suffering through.
Your eyes drift open and closed, in a state of not quite awake though not asleep either. You feel incredibly lazy, but in the best way possible. You have no worries, no tasks that need done, as long as you didn't get an emergency call from the sanctuary, you could stay like this the rest of the day.
Though, you think you wouldn't be allowed to do anything besides that either.
Their head is buried into your neck, as content as you. A specific state of in-between you'd noticed. Not quite one side or the other. Their colors a blend, same with their eyes. Similar to how they'd appeared when they first washed up on shore. This time it was intentional you think.
You told them you wouldn't mind sitting in the pool—the garage floor couldn't be comfortable—but they hadn't minded. They felt well enough to be able to tolerate it, they'd said. Which, at this point, was the elephant in the room. Neither of you had been able to breach it though.
Until now, that is.
"Your wounds are almost healed." You mumble into the relative quiet.
"Mmm."
You sigh, sitting a bit more upright. "You shouldn't stay here longer than you have to."
"Mmhmm." Irritated now.
You reach a hand up to his face, pushing gently so to create space that he has to look at you. "You don't have to go away. Come and visit me, won't you?"
He leans into your palm, then turns to press a kiss to it, trailing down until he meets you eye to eye. He pauses, eyes locked on yours. The gap between you closes, lips melding together for a short, but tender moment.
Despite the sharp points of his teeth, the smile he wears is anything but. "Who's saying that I'll leave?"
You grin yourself, pressing forward for another kiss. And maybe another few will follow after that.
There's certainly worse ways to spend the afternoon.
