The Language Inside

When she continues to ignore you, you knock the side of your knee against hers. She coughs to disguise the groan that escapes her lips. Reaching under the table to rub at her knee she shoots you a warning glare. One that you respond to with a glare of your own. 

“Something you wanna share with the rest of the group, Romanoff?” Maria’s voice brings Natasha’s eyes to the woman standing in front of the projector blocking its light with her body. She has her arms crossed in front of her. She looks very upset at the interruption.

Before Natasha can respond Maria continues with her presentation. Nat’s face goes a deep red and she turns her face harshly towards you scrunching up her eyebrows in protest. You slide her a folded up piece of paper which she takes. You hear the huff of air she breathes out and almost feel bad for getting her into trouble. 

Natasha sits motionless staring at the screen at the front of the room for a few minutes. Hill and Stark had been tag teaming a presentation about a fundraiser for the last 45 minutes and your mind had wondered after the first 10. To keep yourself amused (and to not nod off) you had decided to write notes to your girlfriend sitting beside you. 

At first your scribbled notes were silly and innocent anecdotes about how sleepy you were or sketches of the team around the table. After reading them, Natasha would neatly fold them back and place them in the notebook she had on her lap.

Your attention now was on the latest note you had passed to her. She was still holding it pinched in between her thumb and index finger. Her hand was on her lap but she made no motion to read it. 

This very much annoyed you.

You coughed once, twice, three times. When you cough for the fourth time she looks at you and slides her bottle of water towards you. You take it pretending like you really needed it but when your eyes catch hers you motion with them towards the yet to be read note.

She rolls her eyes but calmly unfolds the piece of paper and reads it. 

A smile erupts on her face followed by a crimson that travels up her exposed neck. You flush knowing you did that to her. She clears her throat and takes her water bottle back from you. Quickly she takes a gulp of water suddenly feeling very thirsty, the blush cresting her cheeks.

She leans back into her seat and takes another few minutes to compose herself. Looking at her she was a picture of calm and peace. Nobody was the wiser. She reaches over and places one hand on your thigh squeezing once, and then again. 

Maybe you had gone too far. Maybe, just maybe. 

Your note reads: 

Baby you should really wear a warning sign (plse turn over)…

On the backside of the note: 

WARNING: MAY MAKE PANTIES WET. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

I think what gets under my skin about people acting like Dan and Phil are intentionally trying to exclude people from the tour or merch drops, is that it shows they don’t know anything about how international markets work or how DnP are at the whims of them.

The thing that’s so brain rotted about the so called “leftist” internet is the CONSTANT use of individualistic thinking to bully people. When a big part of being a leftist is trying to breakdown that kind of thinking. There could be a million reasons why they can’t ship things truly globally. We live in a world that disproportionately excludes the global south. DnP live inside the same system that we do. They only have so much motion as Internet celebrities.

From my understanding it’s that the shipment company they’re using doesn’t do wider international shipping, or it would be too expensive, and they could be caught up in a contract that lasts for X amount of years or for X amount of money. Or it could just be the same thing with the tour “you don’t have enough fans in this region. We won’t ship there.” Business can be a real crapshoot guys.

Is it okay to be upset that you can’t get their merch? Yes. Is it understandable to want DnP to be more transparent about the how and why they can’t do certain things? Yes.

Is it reasonable to tweet hateful things at them or snakily implying they hate their international fans? Absolutely not.

Dan and Phil are just two guys at the end of the day. Two guys who’ve been open about doing a lot of things in house. There are going to be blind spots and errors and I just wish when things like this happens we can act like adults and not cannibalize each other or DnP.

when i was 11 and first got obsessed with wicked, i had no idea i was shipping these two women. which is insane because i'd already been reading fanfiction for years at that point. but with elphaba and galinda it was "their friendship is so beautiful and meaningful..." and it honestly wasn't until adulthood that i was like "...and also they lez out like crazy"

The Gaothmai flesh dreadnoughts are so horrific and I love it. Abomination-type creatures, but which are also troop carriers containing sorcerers and soldiers and other flesh-craft creatures inside them, who can come out to attack you from the orifice in the middle of the tentacles extending from the dreadnought’s otherwise featureless face.

Like just a sublimely terrifying exploration of what horrors can we extrapolate from the existence of flesh-craft sorcerers and their participation in a forever-war fueled arms-race with wizards. Troop carriers made of conjured flesh the size of skyscrapers whose only facial features are the uncountable 50-foot tentacles surrounding an orifice from whence more flesh abominations emerge.
