Encanto AU: The Madrigal Coven

Aka my shameless Encanto/Hocus Pocus AU mostly focuses on the Madrigal Triplets.

In the small village of Encanto, young siblings; Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno had been on their own ever since their father; Pedro, passed away. Only relying on each other, and swore that nothing would separate them.

However, everything changed on their sixteenth birthday. Their father had left them a present and said to only open when they were all sixteen. The present was a handmade candle, a very special candle. 

When the triplets lit the candle, the flame didn’t go out, and the candle awoke the magic that was within them.

Pepa had the power to conjure weather based on her emotions, Julieta could conduct spells with her cooking, and Bruno could see glimpses into the future.

Unfortunately, their newfound powers frightened the villagers, especially Bruno. After another ‘incident’ the triplets were banished from the Encanto, forever.

Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno ran deep into the mountain woods that surrounded Encanto, to spend their life in exile.

In the woods, the triplets were found by Alma, the Mother Witch of the Encanto Mountains, who took the three under her wings to teach them witchcraft and exact their revenge.

Encanto/TOH AU

My version of the Encanto/The Owl house AU!

This is more of a post clarifying which covens/tracks the Madrigals took, that’s all I have for now.

Pedro - worked in the bard coven before his death.

Alma - is the head of the abomination coven.

Julieta - works in the healing coven.

Agustín - works in the beast keeping coven.

Pepa - works in the potions coven.

Félix - works in the bard coven.

Bruno - is a wild witch (studied the oracle track).

Isabela - works in the plant coven.

Dolores - works in the bard coven.

Luisa - works in the construction coven.

Camilo -studies the illusion track.

Antonio - wants to study beast keeping.

Mirabel - is thrown in the detention track…

In Encanto/Owl House AU, how does the Madrigals feel about being students at Hexside?

(For context in this Au, Mirabel and Camilo are 14, Luisa is 16, Isabela and Dolores are 17 or 18. Antonio is still 5. The reason for this is because I wanted all the grandkids attending Hexide at the same time)

They all like being students at Hexide (or so they all say) except for Mirabel. She's spent every year the last nine years (assuming you enter Hexide as age 5) switching tracks and feels unable to master any. She doesn't know what track she wants to study and feels restricted only being allowed to study one.

But anytime she brings up the idea of studying more than one track, her family always responds with something along the lines of "That's what your uncle Bruno said. There's a reason we don't talk about him 🤨"

Isabela is the star student like Amity, and is annoyed at being related to Mirabel who's known for being bad at everytrack (same dynamic Amity and Willow before the events on the show). Also similar to Amity, Isabela intends to try out for the Emporer's Coven. Not because she wants to but because Abuela wants her too.

When they were younger, Alma pressured the Triplets to try out for the Emporer's Coven. Bruno, who used to be the golden child of the family, came close. But later on realized how unfair the Coven System is and ran away to become a wild witch. And now Alma pushes the same expectations she had on her kids onto her grandkids, especially Isabela, which is secretly making her miserable.

After 9 years of going through every single track and her family dismissing her idea of studying more than one. Mirabel decides to actually seek Bruno out. It turns out he's not actually as scary and dangerous and everyone (including his Wanted posters) made him seem. (He's not a cool criminal like Eda)

He's kinda pathetic and literally just wants to be left alone to study all types of magic. Mirabel reveals she's his niece (he left before she was born) and convinces him to teach her all types of magic.

Halo Reloaded: Halsey & Life In The Spartan Program

It's been a minute since I did a simple discussion about things in my AU, so here we go.

Halsey, like in-canon, is a brilliant scientist with a vision for the human-race, but isn't terribly interested in directing said vision; UNLIKE in-canon, Halsey didn't kidnap any of the kids to join her program (and any time I've said 'kidnap,' or any variation thereof, in the any past posts, you can ignore), NOR is the Spartan-Program her idea. The original Orion-Project was created shortly after the start of the Human-Covenant War and fell through not long before the Spartan-II Program/Project Orion-II, which had been around before Halsey's involvement, saw production. Halsey was merely the right woman for the job, and whole idea is ONI's; specifically, Admiral Parangosky's.

Halsey had visited various Outer-Rim planets and discussed with the parents of her future students about the school that they'll be taken to. A real (if VERY clandestine) military-academy that seeks to train these kids into future heroes, NOT SOLDIERS, HEROES, that'll stop The Covenant from destroying humanity; and she eases the parents' minds by telling them that they can see their kids (via video-call, since physical visits are prohibited on the basis that the location of the school is top secret) at anytime they'd like AND their children won't immediately be sent out to war, as training is a long 8-year process (further helped that Halsey, despite being more morally up-right than her canon-self, doesn't feel too good about this herself). John Downes, later designated as John-117, was the only kid she took in that was from Eridanus-II; everyone else came from other planets like Madrigal, Harvest and Jericho. No Flash-Clones or any kidnapping needed!

Basically, it's Ender's Game, that's what this is. These kids weren't taken against their will; it's why all of my Spartans in this AU are so much more well-adjusted than in-canon.

Quick Backstory: Naya's the big sister to the original Hexsquad (before Luz arrived to the Isles) and coming from a family of musicians, she's working on becoming a talented and successful performer like her idol Raine Whispers. Even when Amity was forced to cut ties with her & Willow, Naya still tried to be a good friend because according to her parents, she's well-aware of how controlling Odalia is with the Blight siblings. Nonetheless, Naya remained good friends with the twins Edric & Emira and kept being a supportive friend/big sister to Willow & Gus.

When Luz first visited Hexside, Naya was surprised and intrigued that a human managed to travel to the Boiling Isles. But any friend of Willow and Gus is a friend of hers too. She's also grateful that Luz was the one who got the Hexsquad gang back together and brought along new friends like Hunter and Vee into their friend group!

My original take on Naya was that she's a human & Luz's only best friend prior to ending up in the Boiling Isles bc I didn't want Luz to go through so much trauma on her own w/o a big sister-type figure and plus, I don't think there are enough TOH human OCs out there. Maybe I'll have a Human!Naya AU on the side.

Even tho I'm a Huntlow shipper, I kinda also ship Naya with Hunter but I dunno if I'm gonna make them endgame or not. It'll prolly depend on how the show goes with Huntlow, should it become official in the next specials!

Jim x Fae Changeling Camilo AU

Okay so I just wanted to toss out some ideas for a fun Jim/Camilo AU centered around Trollhunters but adding some more fantasy lore into the mix! A few tidbits that I might make a bigger post on at some point.

Literally the only reason I made this is because I love fae/faerie lore and Camilo gives off BIG fae vibes with how mischievous and chaotic his personality is. This gremlin child is my son, and is 10000% fae. Fite me.

◦ So the setting! It's basically Trollhunters. Jim is still the Trollhunter. Trollmarket is still a thing. Just... There's more fantasy. There's a whole underground magic society - witch covens, vampires, magical creatures, etc. When Jim becomes the Trollhunter, he has no. idea. How deep magic runs.

◦ Rather than people who were blessed by a miracle and gifted magic, the Madrigals are one of the aforementioned witch covens. Originally comprised of several members with Pedro and Alma at the head, the coven attempted to flee Colombia to America after being discovered, but Pedro and most of the coven gave their lives in the escape. The candle is a final gift from Pedro to Alma with a special enchantment.

◦ Casita is still a thing, and a side effect of the enchanted candle from Pedro. If non-magicals are around it acts like a normal house, but to the Madrigals it's alive. Alma originally settled in south Texas, but after a string of vampire-based murders the family moved (through transport/teleporting magic of some sort) to Arcadia Oaks, in California.

◦ Also Trollhunters aficionados will know that in Trollhunters lore it's believed that Faeries are either extinct or endangered after a war with pixies that ended in their loss. In this AU the war still happened, but it led instead to the faeries isolating themselves from the rest of the magical underground in their own special little home (similar to d&d's feywild, but a bit different).

◦ The Madrigals are new to Arcadia at the start of Jim's trollhunting adventure. Camilo becomes fast friends with Claire, who introduces him to Jim (who's a bit jealous at first, but then the chaotic bisexual kicks in and he starts pining for both of them, Merlin help him).

◦ He sees Camilo use some sort of transformation magic, and he and Toby are CONVINCED he's a troll changeling. Until Blinky knocks a book upside their heads and reminds them that changelings only have ONE human form and that Camilo is likely some sort of witch or something. Jim and Toby are lovable but certified dummies this would totally happen.

◦ Camilo gets wrapped up in the trollhunting shenanigans somehow (my bet is on when they're babysitting Enrique. Camilo had originally signed up for it, but Jim asked to tag along because investigation - and a little because he was crushing on Camilo) and lets out that he's part of a coven and introduces the gang to Casita and his family - this becomes one of their bases of operation at some point

◦ I haven't decided how they figure out Camilo's a fae changeling yet (Camilo doesn't even know - some fae children do forget that they're not human), but my bet is on it involving Vendel somehow. Maybe Vendel just kind of... senses fae magic radiating off him or something? Who knows.

◦ In this AU trolls are considered to have "stolen" magic from the fae that allows them to create changelings. While Troll Changelings are seen as generally evil, Fae changelings are mostly neutral or good. Fae are known for keeping out of most conflicts since their war with the pixies. Creating changelings is just something they've always done due to having a hard time completely cutting off ties with the human world. They like humans (and playing tricks on humans, and due to their weird sense of morality kidnapping children and replacing them with fae is seen as something of a practical joke to them). Fae changelings are generally seen as harmless.

◦ Most of the Madrigal family actually already know that he's a changeling, but never told him. Pepa was furious at first, but Alma didn't want to bring attention by getting rid of him, and they had no way to know how to access the fae's home realm (the faehome, as I'll call it) to get the REAL Camilo back, so they decided to raise him anyway. Before long, everyone just saw him as part of the family. Fae or not didn't matter, to them he was Camilo. Pepa even starts giving him little fae-themed nicknames (he just assumed it was because he often got told he seemed fae-like due to his mischievous streak and such, never caught on). They grew overprotective and didn't want to risk him using fae magic to return to faehome if he found out, so haven't told him

◦ The only Madrigals that don't know are Camilo himself (until he does), Mirabel (they were going to tell her when she turned 16 - she was let in on it by Camilo), and Antonio (too young, only just started practicing, they figure he doesn't need the shock of knowing his big brother isn't technically human).

◦ Camilo has an absolute crisis when he finds out, because he feels like everything he's lived up to now is a lie (which it kinda is, but kinda isn't). Jim and the rest of the Madrigals calm him down though and reassure him that they'll always love him, and that being a faerie doesn't change who he is.

◦ As he adjusts and comes to terms he starts being able to use more fae-based magic - maybe he even gets little wings that he can hide at will with magic that would be CUTE.

◦ I'm not sure if this is gonna be straight Jim/Camilo or if there's gonna be some polyam involved with Jim seeing both Claire and Camilo. I'm leaning toward the second because I LIKE JIM/CLAIRE TOO MUCH. Also Camilo and Claire being chaotic besties is so good.

◦ Half troll Jim. And his tiny fae boyfriend. YES?

Might be more on the way if I get more ideas in my head. I just wanted to share because I really liked the idea~

Currently rewatching Harry Potter movies with my Mama, and now I’m inspired for a Encanto/Hogwarts AU.

Still working out the kinks, here’s what I got.

The Madrigals are a famous wizard family who works in Hogwarts, Alma as the Headmaster and the adults as professors.

There is a coven of wizards known as the Black Order, who follow the dark arts under the guise of a single Dark Wizard.

When Mirabel was young, the Black Order tried to destroy the Madrigals, to take over the order of the Wizardry World.

However, they didn’t expect little Mirabel Madrigal to survive an unforgivable curse. Much less, defeating their Dark Master at such a young age.

But the Madrigals knew the Black Order would return someday, and they’ll destroy Mirabel.

To protect the young girl, one member of the Madrigals had taken her to the world of non-magical users, to raise her in peace and secrecy until it was safe to return home.

Valéria does homeschool them to help them with their choices of magic and Covens as best she can, and the Madrigals also help them out too showing them the benefits of what they choose and the downside of it.

For David I think he wouldn’t want to be in a Coven, because he likes using all kinds of magic not just the same thing he’s stuck with for his entire life. Although he did take an interest in the Bard Coven that doesn’t mean he wants to be tied down to it.

As for his Palisman, it would be a Fox their personalities are shy and timid, and they represent wisdom, quick-witted, and cleverness. I thought that it would fit him better and I like it!

For the twins it was hard but I think I like where I’ve put them right now!

For Hugo, I would see him being in the Oracle Coven, not just because Bruno was in it and that he also has a third eye like him(which he also keeps closed as he is self-conscious about it), but because of how it can be helpful in peoples lives. Not a lot of people trust him or his brothers because of their fathers reputation but he still seeks out to help other people, even if he is deaf that doesn’t stop him. He’s more with palm readings and fighting as for fortunes they aren’t his cup of tea but he’s still learning.

His Palisman would be a Rabbit, their personalities are highly intelligent, social and affectionate. They also can be bratty, willful, destructive and even vengeful. He can be like that only because a lot of people forget that he is deaf, so he can be emotional towards people when he sees their expressions showing that there yelling or that they think he’s dumb, even though he doesn’t look it, he will be up someones ass if they get on his bad side and say mean things about his family, mostly his side of the family. He will give somebody a bad fortune and not regret it. What the rabbit represents is love, harmony, sensitivity, and imagination. Those traits he does have he does have an active imagination, and he pours it into his drawings.

Lastly Atifa, he would be in the Healing Coven, I did think about him being in the Plant Coven like Valéria but then I thought that wouldn’t be something that defines him so I chose the Healing Coven, because he has a extroverted personality, and he loves helping other people like his Aunt Julieta! He likes to help her in the kitchen when she has too much on her plate he and his brothers are always willing to help out and let her relax.

His Palisman is the wolf, the decision was between the iguana or the wolf reasons to why I chose the wolf is because what the wolf represents Loyalty, Compassion, partnership, and togetherness and even thought their personality is complex they are caring, caring, playful, and above all devoted to family. Wolves educate their young, take care of their injured and live in family groups. Although this seems more like Valéria, he does exhibit these factors whenever he looks after his little brother and Antonio. Mostly Antonio because he loves his little cousin very much that he hangs around him a lot and helps him with whatever he needs, he doesn’t take the spotlight away from his siblings.

Owl House AU

This is a thing now so I might as well make a post to sum stuff up for this AU to avoid confusion

So far I've only put Jules in here but I might add Fabio later, depending on whether I get inspiration for threads with him.

There's also several options for this depending on whether it's an independent AU based on the show directly, or if it's based on @ramshackledtrickster's AU in which only the Madrigal's actually have magical abilities.

Jules Ojeda is a witch living in the Encanto, they're pretty much the same both personality and appearance wise, with the exception of pointy ears.

If we go with a verse in which everyone has magic, they're kind of stuck between the Beast-Keeping and Healing Coven.

Gee Jules, how come your mom lets you have two covens? Mostly because they both half-fit, but not entirely. I think if they absolutely had to pick only one it'd be Beast-Keeping, but as a vet, their job is literally a mix of both. And it does make sense for Jules to be someone who doesn't really care about what society expects. So they're just dabbling in both without settling.

Their magic is of course somewhat limited by this, as they can't use the full extent of either coven's skills, but they found just the right combo to, well, be a vet. Healing humans is tricky, they really won't be able to do much save from maybe some basic bruises, but as they have lots of experience with animals and focused their studies on those, they can treat them pretty well. In addition, they still have "normal" medical knowledge as well, for when magic doesn't cut it properly. Basically, they're pretty great at being a vet – just kind of useless at anything else.

I'll add more to this post as I think of it, mostly just jotting down my thoughts rn! Also I do accept suggestions and appreciate them very much

Pepa Madrigal who is in the potion coven and she makes the best weather orbs. The idea and design are from @ramshackledtrickster they make the idea up and I‘m head over heels for it. More will follow!

Congratulations to @ramshackledtrickster for their first Fanfiction on AO3!!

And for their Idea and Designs I drew another Fanart which I‘m a bit proud of bc I like the outcome of this idea so much. This is like I imagined it in my head and so here we are, I Hope you all like it. And I read the Fanfiction about how Bruno got his curse, very graphic but a good one and I hope for more story’s.

I got this Idea for this picture from a fanart I saw and it was mostly the same with edalyn, as kid, than adult and finally as owl beast. Her sentence was „agony of a witch“ and I thought it would be suit better for Bruno if I go for the Oracle, bc he is/was in the oracle coven. :) I make it in two version bc the other on is clear and looks cool too, so I give you all both.

Maybe I draw the rat king soon again bc he looks soooo cool but I‘m not very good in drawing animals, but I will try!
