Summary: The one where she was hurt.
Tumblr media
She woke up with a throbbing head, feeling her mouth dry. She looked around, and after a few seconds, she realised she was in the bedroom she shared with her husband. She tried to sit up, but suddenly stabbing pain rose in her arm, making her fall onto the bed breathlessly. She tried to recall what happened, moving her hand to a place that hurt and found a bandage under her fingers. A few days ago, Ardeth and a few of his trusted men went to check on some illegal digging. Not long after it, some travellers came into their village. With one of her best friends and great warrior, Rashid, she kept an eye on them. She provided them with the help they needed and did everything to keep as much information about Medjai secret. All at once, everything went south. They took out the guns, screaming to prepare all the goods for them. She tried to talk them out, to calm the situation, but it didn't help - soon, one of them kept his gun to the head of a local girl. The chieftess' heart stopped in her chest when she tried to take her place. What the attackers didn't know, they chose the worst time they only could. By the corner of her eye, she noticed Fahran - the right-hand man of Ardeth, and that meant that they all were back. He quickly took the attacker's attention to himself as she jumped to help the girl. She hit him in the nose and took the girl in her arms, shielding her with her body. She moved them to leave this place when her eyes met the well-known irises of her husband. She smiled softly, knowing that now everything should be better. However, fate had different plans. A loud bang was heard, just like the scream of the girl next to her. She felt a burning sensation at the top of her chest. She looked down and saw the red stain start showing on her chest. The last thing she heard before she fell on the floor was Ardeth screaming her name.
She tried to move, trying to sit against the headboard. Her tired mind noticed movement by the door, and she moved her head to the side. She looked at Farhan, who smiled at her and then shouted for his chief in Arabic. Not even a minute later, Ardeth came into the room and fell on his knees by the bed.
"Ya Hayati*. You're awake!" He gently caressed the side of her head, and she closed her eyes at this reassuring gesture. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired… And my arm hurts." She looked up at him and noticed how worried he was. She smiled when he moved the hair away from her face and kissed her forehead.
"Would you like to drink something?" At her nod, he stood up. He leaned over her, carefully wrapping his arms around her and helped her to sit. He tried to gently support her body, but a quiet groan left her lips nonetheless. He mumbled an apology, kissing the side of her head while she caressed his back. He brought a cup to her lips, and she gratefully drank its contents. She immediately recognized the taste of the tea that women in the village made to get rid of pain, and she was grateful to have it now. When she had enough, Ardeth whipped the drops that fell on her chin.
"How is that girl? Was someone hurt?" She was watching him when he placed the cup on the cupboard and sat next to her.
"She is alright." Ardeth took her hand in his and squeezed it. "A little shaken up, but nothing happened to her. Rashid already checked on her twice." He chuckled softly, and she couldn't stop smiling forming on her lips. "Aziz got himself a black eye, but no one was injured. Except for you."
"Twice? He must be bewitched by her." She bit her lip, mindlessly starting caressing the back of his hand with her thumb. "I feel like she was in danger because of me… I should do more to stop them, to make them go away much faster."
"Ya Hayati, you did nothing wrong. You gave them the help they needed, and they used your good heart. You made sure that our people could run when they took guns. You shielded this girl with your own body. It was not your fault." Ardeth brought her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. She looked into his eyes and nodded, trying to believe in his words. "You scared me terribly…"
"I'm sorry, ya Amar*. I'd promise it won't happen again, but it probably would be a lie." She smiled sadly, squeezing his hand. "I was so relieved when I saw Farhan and you."
"I'll keep you safe. This time I won't fail."
"Ardeth Bay, you never failed me. And I would argue more about it, but I'm too tired right now." He couldn't help but chuckle. "Would you lay with me? I missed you."
Her one look was enough for him to agree. He knew he should check if the whole situation were cared for. He should go and tell their friends and family that she was awake and only needed a lot of rest. But even the thought of leaving her alone was too much right now. He helped her move a little on the bed and lay down. Her every hiss of pain went straight to his heart. With his help, she found a comfortable position that allowed her to snuggle into his side. He placed a few kisses on her head until she looked up.
"You know that you can kiss me? I mean a proper kiss."
They exchanged lovesick smiles, so similar to these at their wedding. Ardeth placed his hand against the side of her head, caressing her cheek with his thumb. He leaned his head, gently tucking her nose with his. He  knew how impatient she was for his touch, and he smirked when she tried to catch his lips with hers. He kissed so lightly the corner of her lips, and at her disgruntled grunt, he finally kissed her. He kissed her slowly but deeply. He cherished that she was by his side after these few days and that she was alive. He perfectly knew that if this bullet hit her a little lower, he could lose her, lose part of himself. It was all that mattered, they were together, and he promised himself he would double his efforts to keep her safe.

Request for Anonymous Gif source: Evie and Jonathan / Ardeth
Imagine being Evie and Jonathan’s sister, the reincarnation of Imhotep’s wife, and falling for Ardeth.
------- Imagine -------
“That, that can’t be right.” Evie said, looking at Jonathan and then you with fear in her eyes.
“Well, what does it say?” You asked, staring at your older sister as Ardeth stood behind you, watching you and your sibling’s back as you found yourselves in yet another escapade involving Mummies. You leaned slightly against him, reassuring yourself with the body heat of your best friend and the man yo had secretly been in love with for years as you continued to wait for your sister to tell you what she had found in order to stop Imhotep this time.
“It….its says that his wife would be reincarnated as….as a recurring enemy’s beloved sister.”
“Oh-kay. Vague much, but we can figure it…what?” You paused in the middle of your sentence as Evie ad Joathan just stared at you and then you felt Ardeth move from behind you. “What?” You asked again your voice catching when you saw Ardeth look down at you with a look he never had before; it was a desolate mixture of loss and disgust.
“It’s been you this whole time. How could I have been so damn blind.”
“Art, what are you talking about.” You whispered ad went to reach out to him as his body was blocking your siblings view of you. When he caught your hand in a hard grip and he glared at you, you jerked away from him and stepped back.
“It’s you.” He said again in disbelief. “You are his reincarnated wife.”
“That’s crazy, I can’t be.” You said almost laughing in hysteria as you felt your chest clench in pain at they way he was watching you. You looked over to Evie and Jonathan for help, and to their credit they came around Ardeth and stood on either side of you. “We can figure this all out later, in the meantime we need to meet up with Rick and figure out our next move.”
You nodded and let your siblings guide you from Ardeth. You just managed to look back and noticed the despair you had missed on his face the first time as he watched your siblings lead you away.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sandor Clegane; Sandor's skeptical at first. He doesn't know how to be around a child. He barely knows how to be around you. However, as his feelings grow towards you, he realizes it's not just you. It's your child as well. He's fiercely protective over the two of you. He's not no problem killing anyone who gives you any trouble.
Tumblr media
Captain John Price; John already knows you have a child before you get together. It doesn't bother him. Everyone has a past, himself included. He's also aware when the two of you get serious he has a lot to learn. He's willing to do that. Also, he quite likes the idea of coming home to you and your child. He'll slip into a role the child wants, it's their call.
Tumblr media
Nestor Octeva; Nestor doesn't mind if you have a child. It doesn't make a difference to him. He's still crazy about you. He's also going to do everything to keep you safe. Nestor will always listen to you regarding your child. You're in control of when the two of them meet. What he can and not do, especially initially. He's crazy about you so he's going to love your child.
Tumblr media
Troy Otto; Troy loves knowing you have a child. He likes the idea of creating his own family. Something he can love and protect. Something of his own that his father can't take. He's going to want to teach your child survival skills. He's going to take them to help him with chores. Creating a bond with your child is vital to Troy. He wants to create a family unit and so he needs that bond with both of you.
Tumblr media
Aemond Targaryen; Aemond knows what it's like to be neglected by his father. He knows the toll it can take on someone. The first thing he'd do was threaten the child's father, so he was out of the picture entirely. The child does not need him now. Aemond would then become the father he'd always wished he had.
Tumblr media
Victor Zsasz; Victor is nervous when he finds out you have a child. He's never been around children much before. He doesn't know how to behave around them, or how to interact with them. He has quite a few conversations about it with you because he doesn't want to mess it up. You are important to him and the child is important to you. Naturally, he'll wing it for the most part.
Tumblr media
Severus Snape; Severus doesn't realize how much he needs you and your child. It's able to provide him with a less lonely life. A home life Severus never believed he would deserve. You provide him with love and safety, a place to escape away from his daily life. He loves you and your child with every fiber of his being and eventually considers the child his own.
Tumblr media
Jerry; Jerry adores your child from the moment they meet. It doesn't bother him. He adores children. He'll follow your lead, but the second they meet invested in each other. Soon the three of you will be doing things together all the time.
Tumblr media
John Dorie; John's a little nervous when he finds out you have a child. John's behavior doesn't change. He's a little wary but he's interacted with children before. What if your child doesn't like him? Would that affect the relationship between the two of you? Until the initial first meeting, John's worried.
Tumblr media
Abraham Ford; Abrham's had kids, he couldn't help but think about his children. Abraham sees your children as a second chance. A chance to protect and provide. Abraham would make every opportunity count. He's going to love you both with his whole heart. He has a second chance and he's not going to let anyone take it from him.
Tumblr media
Harwin Strong; Everyone would advise against courting you. However, Harwin does not listen to them. He refuses to. He will court you and get to know your child. When he eventually asks for your hand, he treats your child as if they're his. Harwin makes an excellent step-parent.
Tumblr media
Lambert; Lambert doesn't know how to be around children. Anytime he's interacted seen children, they've usually run from him. Terrified of stories they've been told by their parents or grandparents. Lambert is stunned when he meets your child. From the moment they meet, they don't fear him. Instead, they ask him questions with great interest. Lambert is suddenly not as concerned.
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers; It doesn't bother Steve. He adores children. He'd always wanted children. So he hopes he can create a family unit with you. Steve takes it upon himself to read all the books he can find on children and babies. He's smitten with you, so he's going to learn and do everything he can.
Tumblr media
Phillip Graves; Phillip is skeptical at first. He knows nothing about children. However, he's sweet on you, so he's going to make this work. A child complicates things but Phillip is in this for the long haul. His patience is tested at times, but Phillip is relentless and he never backs down from a challenge.
Tumblr media
Tormund Giantsbane; Tormund doesn't care if you have one child or many. It doesn't make a difference to Tormund. He's enthusiastic about it. he's going to teach your child everything he knows. He's going to protect them and take them everywhere. Eventually, no one realizes the child is not biologically his.
Tumblr media
Remus Lupin; Remus finds children remarkable. They show a relentlessness adults rarely have. He doesn't mind you have a child from a previous relationship. His feelings aren't going to change for you. They deepened because he sees a new side to you, one he admires. However, Remus does worry your child will fear him when they learn about his condition.
Tumblr media
Jaskier; Jaskier doesn't have any experience with children. He doesn't know how to keep them entertained. He's awkward and rigid around you. He questions if perhaps he's not the right person for you. However, something changes in Jaskier and one day you find him teaching your child to play the lute.
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson; Eddie adores your child from the moment they meet. They're a little version of you so how could he not adore them? Wayne is a little more realistic as he warns him of the undertaking, yet despite this, Eddie is still not phased. At the end of the day, Wayne gave him a chance, so why would he not do the same for your child?
Tumblr media
Viktor Krum; Viktor is a man of honor. When he finds out you have a child, he makes sure he is serious about you before you introduce him to them. Even then he is respectful of your wishes. It gets to the point when he can't imagine living a life without you both. He looks forward to a future with both of you in it.
Tumblr media
Rick O'Connell; Rick is slightly envious that someone's had a child with you first. However, in all seriousness, it doesn't change anything. He still believes you are perfect. When he brings you things, he'll bring you things for your child. He's a gentleman in his unique way, slightly rough around the edges but he's going to look after the both of you.

>.> could you perhaps if you had inspiration write a part two to your "The hunt" with imhotep? perhaps nsfw if possible? Also happy holidays!!
Tumblr media
We all know what's under the cut:
"How long has it been," Imhotep asks sliding into you with ease, "Since we've been with each other like this?" You know the exact answer to his question. Four months, nine days, three hours. You don't say it aloud though, you don't want him to know you're counting. The truth is, you had developed some major feelings for Imhotep, but he only wanted you for your body. At one point you thought you could handle this cat and mouse game with him, but somewhere along the way the lines became entirely too blurry. This had to be the last time, it just had to.
"Hey," Imhotep stops rutting into, noticing your distance. He kisses you softly bringing you back into the moment, "Stay with me." He says pulling back after a while. You nod, not trusting yourself to speak. He presses his body close you yours and inhales your scent. As you reach your orgasm you know this really will be the last time. Because the next time you meet him, it'll be to kill him. He is evil, after all.
You orgasm is toe curling as always, your cries of pleasure drowned out by Imhotep's. He hovers over for a long moment before kissing you tenderly. Pulling back after a moment or two he rests his forehead against yours. "I love you," He admits. Your heart gives a painful squeeze. You want nothing more than to tell him you love him too, but you know better than that, he wants you for nothing more than your body. He rolls off of you then settles in close, placing one last kiss to your shoulder. As he falls asleep you're now more determined than ever to make this your last night with him. Your life depended on it.

Love Mummified : (The Mummy, 1999)
OFC x OMC
General chaos, just a little excerpt from a story that doesn't even really exist but that I enjoyed writing, idiot coded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"And what exactly is the plan here?" she shouted over the gunfire, gaze wild as it swept from the men cloaked in black to the Americans to the cowboy standing beside her. He had a smile on his face as if he enjoyed the chaos, but when he realized she was staring at him his eyebrows furrowed into a little divet.
"Plan?" he echoed dumbly.
"Gracious," Catherine hissed, jerking back behind a crate when a bullet shattered the lamp over her head. Louis ducked as well until his shoulder was pressed against hers, but while Catherine was brushing broken glass out of her hair, he took the moment to swipe a whiskey bottle off the ground. She watched him take a long swallow before wiping his mouth, tossing the bottle overboard, and springing upwards as if preparing to charge into the fray. Just as quickly as he had drank the liquor she tugged him back down by the coattails. "Honestly, how you and O'Connell managed to survive a war will forever remain a mystery to me."
"Well, heh—"
"That was a rhetorical statement, Mr. Abbott!"
"Rhetorical?" he scoffed, mouth flattened into an unamused line. "You ever get tired of using big words no one knows or do you like feeling like the smartest person in the room?"
"It's hardly a difficult feat to be the smartest person in the room when you're around," she snapped as she tried to come up with a plan. Louis didn't seem to take the time to think as he stood and fired off another round of bullets, and for the first time in a long time, Catherine prayed to whatever god would listen that she would be given strength. "Now will you—come on! Dying in the presence of a handsome cowboy was a childhood dream, not a current one."
He stumbled after her as Catherine dodged between the Americans. She was half-worried that he wouldn't be able to keep up; yet, when her foot slipped Louis was the one to catch her, a sly grin tugging at his lips. "Handsome, huh?"
She stared at him for a mere moment before slapping away his hand.
"Idiots," she muttered. "That's why you and Rick get along so well. You're both hopeless idiots."
"Handsome idiots, apparently. Doesn't seem all that bad to me."
Catherine was in the process of rolling her eyes when something orange flickered at the corner of her vision. A fire spread across the upper rooms of the steam rig they were on—licking its way across the deck towards the engine at the far side of the boat—and suddenly she was wondering if Rick O'Connell truly would be the death of her.
"I take it back," she whined like a petulant child. "I don't need any more adventures in my life. One was enough."
Louis grinned at that. It was a wild grin, one that consisted half of spirit and half of joy, and she knew without a doubt that it was nothing but trouble. He was nothing but trouble. It was most likely penance for her wild childhood, for always wanting something more than the straight and narrow life her parents designed for her. Somewhere, Catherine was sure, her mother was laughing at her turn in luck.
"Ah, come on, Miss Sinclair," he teased. "You can never have too many adventures, can ya? Now, you can swim, right?"
"What?"
"Cuz it looks like we ain't got any other way out of here," he said, moving so swiftly that she didn't know what was happening until he was dragging her by the hand across the deck in the direction that the others had disappeared overboard. She did her best to pull out of his grip, cursing all the way, but it only seemed to spur him on further. She didn't even need to look to know that his grin was fantastically smug as he raced towards the deck railing. "If you can't swim, I'd be happy to provide mouth to mouth."
She scoffed just as they reached the railing, and the hallway behind them groaned to a collapse, ash dotting the sky. "I'd rather drown," she snarked.
His smile didn't dim; just pulled sideways in bemusement. As if he didn't understand the difference between a scorned woman and a flirting one. "Yeah, well Miss, that can be arranged if you don't get moving. It's either me or the boat."
Catherine paused, glancing around them.
When she glanced back, he had narrowed his eyes into a glare of his own, all humor gone. "Don't say I didn't warn ya."
"Warn me—?"
Louis threw her overboard before she could comprehend what was happening, and by the time she surfaced the shockingly cold water, he had joined her in the river. She watched him struggle to fix his sopping hat back in place; the garment didn't seem to cooperate as he huffed, and eventually he decided to clutch it in his fist instead. Catherine hated the way that his hair was slicked back on his forehead, hated how well the dark strands framed his features to make him seem younger than he was, and she was reminded—not for the first time—that he was quite a handsome man when he wasn't talking.
When he caught her looking, his smirk returned. "Ain't too late to change your mind about the mouth to mouth," he drawled. "Might even be a nice way to thank me for saving your life and all that."
Catherine responded by spitting a mouthful of water into his face.

Ancient Mummy
Tumblr media
Imagine working as an archaeologist for a museum. However things hasn’t been going so well lately and there are hardly any visitors during opening hours. Sadly, you’ll be forced to close multiple exhibitions and if conditions are not met, the entire museum might have to shut down.
But by some miracle, a new tomb has been discovered in Egypt; undisturbed, unexplored and completely untouched by humans for centuries. It’s said to be the grave of an ancient king- a pharaoh- who was betrayed and murdered by his own cousin.
It’s the perfect opportunity! Maybe you’ll find something that can bring back interest and by extension, save the museum.
You go along with a few other colleagues to the site in Egypt. The journey was a bit tough but it was a hindered percent worth it. With avid curiosity you explore alone and with the others, the different things to find inside the tomb; artifacts and additional discoveries. It’s all very interesting. Wanting to save the best for last, you finally get an in-person look at the grave itself- the sarcophagus.
You have already heard the main tale of the pharaoh within, so you are a little surprised that there is more to the story than you previously believed.
Over the entire stone coffin were multiple hieroglyphs, each one helping and becoming a story together. Your collegue read some inscriptions and told you a basic summary of what it’s about.
Centuries ago there was a king. He had a wife whom he adored more than anything. She was provided with riches, glory and honour. There was nothing he wouldn’t accomplish for her. The people saw the care he held for his wife and therefore both respected and feared her as well, since any ounce of rudeness might end up with their heads spiked on a pole. It was a punishment fitting for those who dare disrespect his queen.
Unfortunately tragedy struck- a disease, more specifically. It took the lives of many and left whole villages empty. That hardly mattered to the pharaoh though, all his focus went to his ill wife; she, too, had been snatched by death. Up until the moment of her demise the pharaoh spent all day and all night at her side, attentively worrying about her needs. When she was gone he was ruined. He didn’t eat, he didn’t sleep, he didn’t even have the energy to clean himself. What was the point? His beloved was gone so there wasn’t really anything left for him.
It was after this that everything took a turn. It appeared that the king had enough with laying around and decided to do something. There were records of him behaving strangely- even by ancient standards- and drabbling in dark magic. He was later overthrown by his brother, who ordered him to be buried alive. It was quite the terrifying penalty go give one’s sibling. The brother didn’t want the darkness to spread out into the world from the old pharaoh, so he locked him inside the sarcophagus and sealed him far away.
What a tragic story, you thought. Well it was back in the old times and a lot of things were practiced then that aren’t okay in modern day. You suppose it wasn’t the most horrible incident that have happened.
It hadn’t been long since your colleague told you the backstory of the tomb and its inhibitor, but now the others wants to get to the good part and open up the stone coffin. You don’t think it’s the best idea in the world- of course something like this needs to be examined closely and so on, but there is something special about the tomb.
Ever since you’ve arrived, you have had a strange feeling following you around. It’s hard to explain. You feel almost drawn to the sarcophagus or perhaps it’s because it feels as if it is looking back at you. You tried ignoring it, however, the feeling came back stronger than ever the moment the others began preparing to open it up.
You should have told them of your concerns. If you did, then maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
The first few seconds after opening it everything was fine. All was as it should be; people flocking around to see the discovery and fawn over it while being mindful of its fragility. Then it changed. Your colleague who had been the closest had suddenly been strangled by the thin, dirty arm belonging to none other than the ancient corpse that previously had been resting in death. Everyone was silent as her face turned blue from the lack of oxygen. It was only after she fell to the floor dead that people began panicking. It was hard to process what had just happened, after all.
There was chaos.
Folk ran around like chickens fleeing from a fox that’d managed to get inside the coop. In a way, that was exactly what was going on, though. You had watched as the mummified corpse sat right up and climbed its way out of the cold coffin. It stumbled on its bony legs and quickly found a cornered man and approached him. He screamed when the mummy grabbed ahold of his face and brought it before its own. The creature started sucking the life out of the man- literally.
The man who had previously been a healthy and active person was now shrivelled up like a raisin. His face was dry and wrinkled. He died soon afterwards, only a soft wheeze leaving his lips as he passed.
The opposite seemed to happen to the former-corpse, though. It attacked more and more people and for every kill, it appeared to revert to its original state- a man, pharaoh of an ancient kingdom. The flesh grew back and filled up in the right places and he seemed human again.
How can that be? He had been dead for centuries. Although, just about everything was pretty fucked up in this moment, so his make-over is the least important factor.
You backed into a corner. Your eyes followed the mummy’s every move, it was impossible to look away. There was hardly anyone left apart from you. The one person that was still there was getting attacked by the monster and it wasn’t long until they were reduced to nothing.
Now it was just you and the creature, and it appeared it knew that too.
It turned to look at you. The mummy had now completely reverted back into a man and he was nothing short of breathtaking(and very naked, but you tried not to think about it). It pained to to admit it but it was the truth. He was easily the most handsome man you’d ever laid eyes on. His long, dark hair flowed when he stalked towards you. Despite his outer beauty, you couldn’t forget what you’d just witnessed him do.
Trembling, you pressed yourself against the wall. “Stay away.” you weakly mumbled.
‘This is it. My time is over.’
You closed your eyes in fear and braced yourself for the pain that would undoubtedly come; only it didn’t. Instead of death, a hand grazed your cheek. It was a light touch, one reserved for something valuable and fragile.
A raspy voice talked, “…My love..it is you..”
You had no idea what he said, it sounded like an ancient language. You had studied hieroglyphs but did not know anything about what speech might’ve sounded like. You decided to be brave and slightly opened your eyes.
The mummy was staring at you, but there was no malice or hatred in his expression. In fact, the only emotion you could find on his face was amazement, shock and….love? No, that can’t be. This is not some ‘lovers reunited’ situation.
“How can this be? Death took you and left me all alone- not that I hold you accountable, of course. I know you would never seek to hurt me.” the mummy kept muttering to himself. “Perhaps….the magic worked after all?”
His face brightened and he smiled gently at you. Whilst he happily went on about something, you became more confused than earlier. What the hell was going on? He committed multiple murders in one swoop and now, suddenly, he is acting like you’re friends talking about your day. He isn’t even human! Or at least not anymore, not really.
You voiced this opinion weakly, “Ummm, could you let me go?” You tried pulling away from his touch, uncomfortable at his caresses.
His brows furrowed at your reaction. From the look of it, he didn’t understand you any better than you did him. He focused at the subtle way you attempted to peel his hand off your arm. You let out a yelp when his arms snaked around your waist and he pulled you into his embrace.
He leaned down and whispered into your ear, petting your hair at the same time. “Wife, why do you seem unhappy at my presence? I do not understand. Are you not joyous at our reunion? I love you so, I cannot comprehend any reason why you would not wish to see me.”
Even if you didn’t know what he was saying, you could hear the sadness in his voice. The pain and desperation. No! You couldn’t feel sad for him. He had murdured multiple of your colleagues, he’s evil! Although, why hasn’t he killed you yet? It’s very strange indeed.
The mummy continued, “I can sense things are not as they used to be. Things are different now. Although I do not know the extent of it. However I am most certain of one thing; I have miraculously been reunited with my love and I do not plan on letting you fall through my grasp again.”
He held you in an almost suffocating hug.
“I shall make you my queen once more.”

a "fun fact" i read as a child is that pure honey never spoils, to the point where honey from ancient egyptian tombs was found to still be edible
i used to think about this, and imagine a poor intern who was strong-armed into putting in their one human mouth something was made literally thousands of years ago, just to make sure it could be safely eaten
but having since met scientists and having learned what freaks they are, if they did put this to the test, i am VERY confident that every single archaeologist in the room was duking it out over who got the honor of putting their tongue on that mummy's dusty old bee goo.

The sun slowly melted into the golden dunes of the desert as the sky was bathed in a heady mix of crimson, tangerine and mahogany. The hot desert air slowly cooling as the glowing rays faded, descending further into the horizon. Darkness descended over the camp as the stars arose, twinkling gently alongside the moon.
The plagues upon the land had disappeared, the Medjai officials in the government working swiftly to cover up its mystical origins, yet the only word the Medjai camp had received was that the warriors were coming home and that Imhotep had been imprisoned once more.
A woman paced within her tent, constantly glancing at the entrance before returning to pacing. Eventually she tired, laying against her soft mattress and watching the entrance with rapt eyes. Breathing slowly, she rubbed her hands against her swelling stomach, impatience thrumming through her veins. As the sky changed shades and the moon illuminated her doorway her breathing slowed and her body relaxed, her bodily aches momentarily forgotten as her mind escaped into the chasm of dreams where she dreamt of warm arms and ebony irises.
She was slowly drawn from her slumber by feathery kisses upon her cheeks. Groggily opening her eyes she saw the face of the man she adored. His lips drawn into a smile as he gazed at her.
“Hello sweet wife,” he whispered with a husky voice.
“Ardeth?” She whispered full of disbelief.
“I’m here,” he said, smiling at his wife.
Overjoyed at his presence she pulled him to her arms, her grip around him tightening and unwilling to let go.
“I thought you’d- I thought-“ she stuttered out, sniffling as her mind brought forward her worst fears.
Rubbing her back he soothed her, “Shhh, it’s okay. I’m back and no one, not even an ancient mummy or Anubis himself could keep me away from you.”
Pulling away from her, he gazed into her eyes, vowing, “You, my sweet wife, are my very life. The air within my lungs and the sand beneath my feet. Without you, there is no me and I will never let you or our little one go.” Saying this he bent towards her stomach before placing soft kisses along her skin, feeling the little flutters of their baby’s movement along his hand he whispered, “I’m here, little one. I won’t leave you.”
Slowly moving away he cradled his wife against his body as he told her the tales of his recent death-defying adventure and as the stars looked down at the lovely couple, the desert breathed peace.

Tumblr media
They felt like all the air was taken from their lungs, and everything they heard was the beating of their own heart. Her eyes couldn’t leave the silhouette of the man standing before them. They only saw his dark eyes, and even if they saw them for the first time, they felt like they knew them better than anything. They watched how he raised his tattooed hand and uncovered his face, and they couldn’t help the small smile that came into their face. Masked people could start shooting every second, but at that moment, they could die as a happy person - they just saw the most handsome man on this planet. They saw it for the first time when they were awake but knew it was a face they had seen in their dreams. At the sound of his raspy voice, their heart lost a beat. The warrior moved closer, walking behind his people when Rick behind them said:  “I already told you I got him”. The Egyptian looked at them and felt silent for a moment. They could see a surprise in his eyes - as some memories had come to him. Both of them felt like everything was on the right track. It didn’t matter that the creature was alive - two parts of one soul found each other. They never wanted to believe in love at first sight, but when he stood before them, they couldn’t stop their heart from longing for him. Ardeth made himself raise his eyes at the American.“Know this, this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, and he will never stop.” He moved his eyes at the women between them. “If you want to survive, leave this place.” At this moment, they could only watch his dark eyes, and then they nodded.“We will.” They hated how weak their voice sounded at that moment, but they could swear that the corner of his mouth rose just for a second, like he’d stop himself from smiling. They looked at each other before he turned and walked after his people. They didn’t turn their eyes, watching his silhouette disappear in the darkness. They couldn’t stop thinking about him the whole ride to Cairo. They tried to be helpful when Rick and Evelyn argued - they helped to patch up poor Mr Burns and rested a little before they’d tried to help Evy find a solution. They heard the woman screaming that it was their obligation since they woke up the monster, and they couldn’t agree more. When they were washing their hands, the water turned into blood, and they couldn’t stop a scream from their mouth. They were terrified when the fire started falling from the sky. It was a shock to see the man from the Hamunaptra in the museum. They exchanged a few looks, and it was enough for them to find a little peace in this madness, and for the first time in days, they felt safe. Madiaj told them the story of Imhotep and they started to get hope that they really could find a way to come out of this alive. When they finally agreed on what everybody needed to do and started walking to the car, they looked back at him one more time and smiled when they realised that he was watching them. “Miss/Mister…” he came closer to them, and they knew that Evy and Rick slowed a little while waiting for them, “Are you hurt?” At their surprised look, he moved his hand to point to a bloody stain on their clothes.“Oh, no... I’m not hurt. I was washing my hands when the water turned into blood...Thank you for asking. It’s very kind of you, Mr…” They smiled gently and noticed that the corners of his lips moved a little, just like he was close to smiling. “Ardeth Bay.” Her smile grew wider when they told him their name. The longing of their heart for him was surprising, just like how their body responded to even the smallest smirk. They wanted to know him better, even if they already felt that strange similarity in his presence.“I hope that all of your people are alright.” They wrapped their arms around themself to stop themself from trying to touch him. “They are.” They breathed with relief, nodding. “But they won’t hesitate to die if it will stop this creature.” Ardeth saw that pain came into their face hearing this sentence. He wanted to take it away from them, to hold them and keep them safe. He didn’t understand why he felt so attracted to them, but it was a nice feeling. They were like a breath of fresh air in the heat of the desert, and he wanted, no, he needed to feel it again. “I hope it won’t be necessary.” They heard Rick calling their name, and they turned to look at him. They knew that it was the moment that they should go. With every minute, Imhotep was closer to winning. They nodded at him and moved their eyes to the Egyptian. “Mr Bay, please be careful. I… I hope we meet again.” They gently touched his arm and moved to join Rick and Evy. Before they left the room, they looked again at Ardeth and smiled, and they could swear that for a few seconds, he did the same. Not everything worked in their favour. Egyptologist and Henderson were dead, Imhotep was nearly regenerated, and the only idea to beat him was only a legend. They anxiously walked after Rick and the rest of the team. Twisting their fingers, they watched how Evy tried to find the location of the Book of Amun-Ra. They were so lost in their mind that they didn’t notice Ardeth coming closer to them. He gently touched their elbow, making them jump. He looked at them apologetically, and they smiled nervously. “We met again.” He smiled at them, and they couldn’t help but laugh quietly. “We did. However, I hoped it could happen in a little calmer situation.” They looked straight into his eyes and felt like their heart had stopped for a moment. “I… I know it will sound weird if anything in that situation could be normal. I feel like I know you. Not from now, but like… like my soul finally was whole just by meeting you. It’s probably a wrong time to say it, but I felt like I had to do it.” They looked down at their shoes, feeling ashamed. They were afraid of his reaction, but who knows how long they would live. However, they didn’t see the smile forming on his face. He gently touched their chin and made them look at him again. “I know this feeling. Of everything being completed and in peace only because… you are here, next to me. I don’t understand it wholly, but maybe it also was destined in ancient times.” “Maybe that is the answer.” They smiled and touched his hand. Not caring about decency, they rose on their tiptoes and connected their lips. They felt his other hand fall on their hip, and their heart started beating faster. They found him, and they knew that whatever waits for them in future will end up happily. Two souls destined to stop the evil from ancient times found each other again. Like many times ago, they find a way to win.

I might be misremembering, but as far as I remember, Tim's mum taking him to the hospital when he was a kid is like the only time any of the main characters parents are mentioned in MH? Which like, if that is the only time any of the characters parents/family are mentioned, it just makes it feel even more tragic to me?
Like, that was presumably an upsetting/traumatic thing for Tim to go through as a kid, like even if being left there at first wasn't traumatic, everything that came after would have made it be. Like, it just makes me think that everyone else's families were "normal" or like none of them really had any reason to bring them up. Their family/home lives were perfectly mundane, so why would they think about them when they have to worry about even staying alive for another day.
It just feels like it makes Tim's whole thing with his mum even sadder, because the only reason he brings her up is to talk about something kinda unpleasant? Like, being taken to stay inpatient in a hospital for god knows how long, with no say in whether it happened or not, would be so traumatic, like abandonment, especially for a kid.

Love Mummified: (The Mummy, 1999)
OFC x OMC
Another excerpt for yet another story that doesn't really exist; but i guess this is my blog and i can do what i want right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catherine had never been fond of swimming; whereas her brothers enjoyed spending their time fooling around in the pond at their estate, she much preferred to be in the stables with her horse. She always felt swimming involved too much flailing, too much accidentally swallowed mouthfuls of bitter lake water, and after getting out she would be have to endure the process of toweling dry (which always took much too long in her opinion).
Two decades later and it seemed that her opinion on swimming had not changed. In fact, having to blindly swim in the dark away from a burning ship, following the others in hopes that they would find land, trying not to get kicked in the chin by Jonathan's too long legs, was what she considered to be a less than thrilling experience.
And by the time they made it to shore, water weighing down her pants and making her shirt completely see through, she was very nearly prepared to get back in the water if only to drown Rick O'Connell himself.
"You ever afraid your face will get stuck like that?" Louis asked as he extended a hand down towards Catherine. She had been flailing while trying to stand, boots much too heavy for walking, and of course it had taken the man no time at all to zero in on her struggles. "The frowning, I mean. It can't be comfortable. Heard a rumor about a lady that was like that forever; scared away all the men."
Drowning him without be that bad, either, she thought before slapping his hand away as aggressively as she could. The scowl deepened like a carving.
"The frown seems fitting considering the fact that you just threw me off a boat," she snapped.
"Saved your hide is more accurate," he teased just as she tripped over what she hoped was a log. He was there to pick her back up, of course, and though his hands were comfortably warm against the cold water dripping down her spine, Catherine really wasn't in the mood to be handled by anyone. "You alright? Didn't realize it'd be such a big fall down to the water. Didn't swallow any water, did you?"
She scowled but the angry retort froze on her lips when she realized that his question had been sincere. His eyes were big and wide, searching, and though his mouth was curled in a smile there was nothing mean about it.
She turned her nose up at him, anyhow. "Just fine, thanks."
Mr. Abbott grinned, about to say something else, when she tripped for a third time when something big and scaly startled in the water in front of her, jetting off in the opposite direction. Catherine leapt as high as one could in knee deep water and she would have fallen completely on her ass if she hadn't managed to jump right against Louis' chest.
He caught her with a chuckle, and she was even more startled when she turned to find his face mere inches from her own. Even in the dark she could make out the amusement sparkling in his eyes, as well as feel the laugh rumble through his chest.
"It was a—um—alligator," she grumbled, extracting herself from him as quickly as she could manage. His hand lingered on her waist when she tried to find her footing. "Or—or something big."
"Sure," he drawled. "I'd be happy to carry you to shore. To scare off the gators, of course."
Catherine's scowl returned full force. There was something so irritating about the man—how he could switch between infuriating to genuine and back again so easily—and she tried to remind herself of the fact that he had just thrown her off a boat without knowing if she could swim first. Infuriating seemed to be the thing to focus on. "Isn't there someone else you can bother?"
"And waste a perfectly good opportunity to help a damsel in distress?"
Catherine narrowed her scowl into something deadly; a look that any normal man may have taken to mean that she wasn't in the mood to joke around. Mr. Abbott clearly didn't understand the facial expressions of women, however, and as she fumbled towards the shore his smile widened as he swept his gaze over her.
"I can assure you that Jonathan is more a damsel than I am," she snarked. Rick was helping Evelyn a bit further ahead, while Jonathan was proving her point by awkwardly staggering in the reeds to their right. "One that is much less likely to hit you for being handsy, anyway."
Louis chuckled warmly, and heat rushed her cheeks. How was he so difficult to offend? Was he simply that obtuse or did he have a thing for rude women?
Catherine watched him wring out his hat before dropping the misshapen garment onto his head with a wet thwack. "It wouldn't be the first time a lady slapped me. Just the first time it was a beautiful lady. That seems like a fair trade off to me."
She sighed through her nose. Obtuse it was.
Graciously, she wasn't alone. Catherine's gaze darted towards Evelyn as they approached the others on the beach, and though the librarian seemed a tad more hysteric than the others, Catherine took great comfort in the fact that at least someone seemed to understand the unfortunate situation they were now stuck in.
"We've lost everything!" she was saying, hands wringing water out of her hair. "All of our tools, my equipment, my books!"
"Your books aren't really the biggest problem here, lady," Rick said as he dropped his rucksack onto the ground with a solid thump. Next, he pulled his gun out of its holster to check it thoroughly for damage. His dejected sigh seemed to indicate that the weapon didn't entirely appreciate their impromptu swim anymore than Catherine did. "We need guns."
"Guns?" Evelyn cried. "This is a historical expedition!"
"And clearly someone isn't too happy about it. Or am I the only one that remembers the guy trying to kill you?" he snarked.
"Kill her?" Catherine echoed. She glanced around the group to find that the others seemed just as surprised as she did. "Why the hell would someone want to kill Evelyn?"
The woman in mention bristled at her cursing, but did seem just as upset about it as everyone else. Her hands were shaking when she wiped them down the length of her face in thought. "I may have one or two ideas, but—"
Someone whistled sharply from the other bank, and the group turned to find the little man in the fez—Rick and Louis' old comrade, as she had been told—waving at them with the white flash of a grin. Both men groaned in annoyance, sharing identical looks of displeasure that spoke to how little they thought of Beni's attitude.
"Hey O'Connell," he sang in a lilting voice. "Looks to me like we've got all the horses!"
Catherine's jaw dropped, before snapping shut with an audible click when she realized that he was right.
Still, Rick didn't take the hit without his own smug reply, shouting, "hey Beni! It looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the river!"
Beni hadn't seemed to realize that and when he did his shoulders dropped with a kick to the ankle-deep water he was standing in. The Americans moved past him with the horses in mention, and Catherine couldn't help the steam that billowed out of her ears at the sight. She squared her shoulders at Rick with a glare, and when he noticed it, he quickly occupied his time sorting through his bag.
"That's three horses you've lost me now, Rick! Three!"
"Well—it's not like I meant to," he argued, waving a hand around vaguely. "How was I suppose to know that Evelyn would catch the boat on fire?"
"I caught the boat on fire?" Evelyn screeched.
"The fact that you end up in positions like this should be reason enough to expect something like this to happen! Don't think I won't be adding this to the bill that you owe me," Catherine continued, not at all liking the thought of Beni riding one of her beloved steeds. "Honestly! How can you be such a disaster?"
"Hey," he swung a hand towards her, pointing. "I'm not the one that caused that whole mess. Miss Librarian over here is the one that insisted we go to Hamunaptra in the first place," he jabbed a thumb at Evelyn, before swinging his hand towards her brother. "And he's the one that was running his big mouth about where we were going with the Americans."
"Oi!" Jonathan scoffed at the same time that Evelyn crossed one arm over the other and said, "I beg your pardon!"
Three people now stood scowling at Rick, and with the cool night chill sweeping through their group, it seemed apparent that they were in for a miserable night. As tactfully as he could manage—which to say, was not at all—Louis sidled up next to his friend with a grimace.
"You may want to quit while you're ahead, Ricky," he muttered with a sage pat to his friend's back.
Rick threw off his touch with a steely look, before stooping low to grab his rucksack off the ground. It wasn't long before he was stomping off, leaving everyone else no choice but to hope that he knew where he was going.
"Honestly," Evelyn muttered. Jonathan had the good grace to give her his coat—even though it was just as wet as the rest of them—and slowly the two siblings began ambling in his wake, the warden not far behind.
Catherine glanced miserably at the horses on the other bank of the water.
"Still thinking about swimming back to the boat?" Louis drawled.
"Considering going with the Americans," she said; it was as much of a joke as a reality, but he didn't seem to take her all that seriously. "I loved that horse, you know. He was purebred, the sweetest little thing, first one that I got when I came to Egypt."
"We make it to Hamunaptra and you can buy yourself another. A better one."
"O'Connell can buy me another, but if we run into the little fez again you can surely expect me to take him back," she corrected as they slowly made after the others. "He already owes me two from the last adventure he got himself roped into."
"You didn't go on that one?"
Catherine shook her head. "Graciously."
"Ah, please," he bumped his shoulder into hers, grinning warmly when she shot him a wary glance in return. Nothing seemed to bother him; not the wet clothes the soggy boots or the lack of horses. Instead, he seemed to thrive on this sort of trouble. As if he enjoyed living life by the seat of his pants. "This is probably the most excitement you've ever had other than getting a good sale on a pretty hat."
She scrunched her nose at him, trying not to be offended, but finding it quite hard when he managed to hit the nail on the head. Though she had come to Egypt without anything but a trunk of clothes, and while running away from her stifling homelife hadn't been an easy choice to make, since she got to Egypt Catherine had found herself erring on the side of caution. Money was hard to come by when one didn't have rich parents to pay her checks, and work wasn't something that she could skimp on if she wanted a place to sleep at night.
Truthfully, while her life had begun when she came to Cairo, the only true adventures—the ones she dreamed of as a little girl—existed when Rick O'Connell showed up at her door with a grin.
"I hate hats," she sniped. Then, feeling petty, gave his own hat a disdainful look. "And perhaps for good reason if they all look like that."
"Well—hey! What's wrong with my hat?!"
"Other than the fact that it looks like a skinned cat?" she cooed, mouth curling into a smirk when she finally managed to wipe that smug look off his face. Catherine gave an airy shrug. "Well, nothing I suppose. But have you ever heard the saying about putting lipstick on a pig?"
Louis' step faltered in shock at her blatant insult, giving Catherine enough time to catch up to Evelyn. She looped her arm through the woman's with a coy smile when she heard his feet dragging behind her.
"Walk with me?" she asked.
"Getting tired of the male company already?"
"Do you ever wonder what the world would be like if women were in charge of everything?" Catherine mused in a stage whisper. "I can't help but think it would be quite thrilling if this mess of a trip is anything to go by."
Evelyn seemed to understand exactly where she was coming from and in response sighed hard enough for her shoulders to droop from lost tension. "Only all day, every day."
"Oi!" Jonathan cried for the second time that night. Both women glanced at him in unison. If the scandalous look on his face was anything to go by, he was clearly in hearing range of their conversation. "What have I done?"
"Absolutely nothing, dear," Evelyn cooed.
"And that seems to be the problem, doesn't it?" Catherine tacked on with a witty grin. Evelyn hadn't seemed to expect such an answer and slapped a hand to her mouth to keep the giggles at bay. "Now, why don't you tell me about one of your books. I could use a good story."
Evelyn beamed at the request. "Well, oh—where to even start? I'm assuming you know the legend of Hamunaptra, but what most people don't realize is that..."
