you guys i love how genuinely horrifying and terrifying tmc is but i think we should give alex kister credit for not wanting us to all thirst after his media because. He put all that work into scaring us shitless all for us to yassify satan. like can you imagine making a terrifying religious horror that gave many seasoned horror fans nightmares and working hard to terrify everyone out of their wits only for them to go “thats hot bro 🤪”

To counteract the awful randos- You're legit my favorite artist on this site. Buff women, fun posts, and you don't take shit from dumbasses that show up. I have gotten several friends on the Nearl train from your stuff. You're wonderful and I hope you continue to create what makes you happy while I silently go wild on the sidelines.
Thank you, sincerely. Though I encourage you to leave commentary where you can, because I really do like reading what people have to say about my art.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I’ve been following you for a while, and I love your art so much. Like, you are legit my favorite artist on this webbed site. Your style is wonderful, I especially love the way that you draw faces/expressions etc. I love your ears and noses so much!
The way you draw Orym is exactly how I imagine him to be, I consider your art of him more canon than the official art, lol.
I’d love to see your drawing process sometime, have you ever considered posting a Timelapse?
(Excuse any grammer/spelling mistakes, I’m dyslexic.)
Aw thank you so much!!! I
'm glad I've drawn Orym enough that some people just.. default to thinking of my version of him. <3 (I am so ready for a new outfit to redesign tho!)
I do have the ability to record a timelapse on CSP, but honestly I always just forget lol

Is there a place where i can get every illustration done by wayne barlowe? asking this before shitty ai art takes over and makes it hard to look for his legit works.
I honestly doubt there's any single place where you can find all his art. He's been my favorite artist for pretty much as long as I can remember and I still find pieces from him I've never seen before. Best I can do is point you in a couple different directions:
-His website is probably the best single location to find his work. Well organized, high-res scans and still gets an update every couple years.
-Weirdly, he is very active on LinkedIn. I think he posts all his new art there and you can easily "right click -> save as... " his posts instead of having to get some kind of 3rd-party plugin to download what he posts on instagram. To my knowledge, those are his only active socials and that's where you can find his new work. He may have a facebook page, but I haven't used facebook in years.
-If you go through torrent sites you can find high-res scans of a lot of his art from the "Barlowe's Guide" era up until about 2010ish. I think RUtracker is where I found a pretty thorough collection.
-His really early work- book covers and such- is pretty hard to track down. @70sscifiart and similar accounts occasionally post pulp covers by him from super early in his career but I seriously doubt they've been collected in one place. If they have, I don't know about it.
I think that's the extent of my knowledge. If you want to buy his physical books they're usually pretty pricey so either save up for pray for a deal. The only exception I think is Alphabet of Dinosaurs which you can normally get for a steal and which I highly recommend picking up.
Hope that helps! If I think of more resources, I'll come back and add them. Here are some weird Barlowe pieces I don't see in circulation too often:

I'm honestly trying to avoid being on Twitter as much as possible these days. It's just such a hotbed of bullshit from so many different angles.
Large Vtubers keep making the worst takes possible because their extremely fortunate growth causes them to become entitled pricks that think that everyone can easily copy what they did and similarly blow up, when in reality it just doesn't work that way. Then they get to coax on their thousands of fans coming in to their defense, desperately trying to suck on the clout teet
Otakus that haven't touched grass in years continuously attack people simply because they dared to criticize their favorite waifu when they rightfully fucked up. Said otakus eventually turn into straight up bigotry when simply yelling isn't enough.
Not to mention the site itself has become a hotbed for alt-right bullshit on account of Musk fucking everything up at every turn, yet his cult-like fanbase keeps praising him as some kind of secret genius (spoiler alert: he's not).
I've always had a dislike of Twitter's format, but I ended up using it as a way to get people to look at my other stuff. I have been fortunate to meet a lot of amazing people on the site, whether they be vtubers, artists, or other kinds of creators. The problem is, I'm now bound to that site until it finally burns to the ground simply because of how much significance it has in most aspects of life.
Even if Bluesky or some other alternative takes off, it's going to take a while to fully unseat something that's imbedded in how we function as a society.
I legit want to make content creation a full-time thing someday, and utilizing all manner of social media is part of a requirement to make that happen, but my actual tolerance for social media these days is at an all-time low.
Apologies for the rant. I just wanted to take advantage of not having to worry about character limits.

🎶✨when u get this, put 5 songs u actually listen to, publish. then, if you're comfortable, send this ask/tag 10 of your followers (positivity is cool) 🎶✨
Got tagged by both the cool artist @mostlikelydead and the cool streamer @leahplease, so instead of just going with just 5, I'll do 5 regular songs and 5 songs from other media that all live in my brain.
5 normal songs (Like the purpose is only be a song)
Had Enough by Breaking Benjamin - Ok I gotta admit that young Tuba liked to listen to edgy music and imagine situations. However, this has sentimental value as Phobia was the first CD I ever had which papa Tuba gave to me way back when.
Wenn sie tanzt by Wise Guys - Way back when, Tuba studied german back in school and on valentines we translated a song from them, "Willst Du Mit Mir Gehen" and I was taken by the energy. Years later, I eventually got the album and this became a favorite. There's also a radio edit with additional instruments but the acapella works better for me. God I should take up my german studies again.
War by OutKast - Another first for young Tuba. Phobia was the first cd given to me, but Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was the first album I purchased myself and an introduction to music as an ability to make a political statement, a new concept to young tuba whose biggest worry was thinking about school and mama Tuba worrying about me running into discrimination in a majority hispanic district. Needless to say, it only grew on me as I became more aware of the world and started venturing out further and student size grew and grew and I became a minority in the student pool.
Seasons by DragonForce - Ok this one is much more simple. I was getting into Rock and loved how the song sounded when I was younger and still love it now. Some sick solos.
The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band - A toe taper that I can just belt out when driving anywhere to help pass the time and feel real good doing it. Though unfortunately still trapped by the common idea that country is only made by and for right wing leaners and bible thumpers which Charlie Daniels definitely leans. Guitar Hero III cover was cool too.
5 songs made for other media
Madness 4 by Cheshyre for Madness Combat 4- while listening to music I was probably too young to be listening too, I was also on the internet browsing sites like Newgrounds before I should've and happened across the Madness Combat series which was an interesting creative partnership between musician Cheshyre and animator Krinkles where both music and animation are created in tandem and beat for beat. One of the first produced this way after their partnership cemented and the beat lives in me. Still makes really good electronic music too.
Nightmare Fiction II By Daisuke Ishiwatari for Blazblue - While most now associate Daisuke with Guilty Gear since Strive really blew up in common knowledge, he also did a lot of work for Blazblue's soundtrack with themes I may like better than Guilty Gear's. Nightmare Fiction II follows an occurrence in Blazblue where older songs were remade to give a fresh take on years old tracks. Of course the old ones are still available, but for the most part, the II version is better with Nightmare Fiction standing especially. One can feel the hatred and animosity in the track, giving way to a tense, yet still hateful, clarity in the middle of the track. and the Solo.... Man we're never getting another Blazblue.
Living Failures by Nobuyoshi Suzuki for Bloodborne - Where do I begin? The emotions are high for the entire track and leads into one of the best second phase themes in From History. The choir, the French Horns, the immediate plunge into a fucking drive of strings, horns, and choir that only builds and builds ever higher. Legit brings tears to my eyes with how beautiful it is.
Heynong Man by Chris Christodoulou for Deadbolt - A familiar name to Risk of Rain soundtrack lovers as Deadbolt was the devs previous game before RoR. A chunky bass and saw of a lead drives the song forward on and on from one groovy bit to the next. Just nice listening on a walk as it gives a strong beat to walk with and the energy to just take it all in, music and whatever you're walking through.
Altars of Apostasy (incl. "Halls of Sacrilegious Remains") by Heaven Pierce Her for Ultrakill - Hakita, goddamn Hakita. He is a different beast entirely when it comes to game dev, design, and music. Inspired by Black Metal, this track maxes out at 7 fucking guitars playing at once at the densest section. It is a goddamn beast of track well deserving of being with the layer of Heresy. Even the reference to Glory, a different Ultrakill track, is thrown in as it helps give a lighter moment to an otherwise dark as hell track. and after a huge leadup, wind down, and lead up once more is the second section, Halls of Sacrilegious Remains, inspired by a beta tester using Castle Vein for a hype moment. This lead Hakita to holding off reusing Hideous Masses until the end of the level where the rematch with Gabriel is hyped up before a gauntlet is thrown at the player to a black metal rendition of Castle Vein. When I think of the highest hope I could ever have when making music, it's to eventually inspire the same feelings in someone that I feel listening to this track
Let's see, uhhh, @eunique, you got music you wanna gush about?

Some advice for Redbubble
Using the Redbubble Dashboard
The Redbubble dashboard is a new feature that helps artists figure out how many people are viewing their artwork and how much they are selling. It features analytical graphs that show your views by date and sales by date, and it will also show your top sellers for that time period.
It's a good way to figure out where your views are coming from because it splits the type of traffic up on the bar graph ("Social Media," "Direct Link," etc.). A way they could improve this is by showing the URLs where the views come from, so you could know which social media posts are more effective, for example.
The dashboard also has an activity feed, where you can see who is favoriting and commenting on your art and what the people you follow are up to. It's a good way to quickly keep up with the community and make sure that you respond to feedback, so check your activity feed often.
Payment on Redbubble
Redbubble pays through PayPal or direct deposit to a US, UK, or Australian bank account, and pays artists that have earned the previous month on the 15th of the current month. Choose the currency you would like to be paid in wisely because you cannot change this later.
You can edit your payment information by going to your profile and clicking Edit Payment Details. Through the dashboard, you can also change your product pricing, which will affect the number of royalties you receive. The pricing on individual works can be changed by editing them.
You may have reached this page wondering if Redbubble is a legitimate way to earn money online. From my experience with Redbubble, it is legit and safe, since my payments have all arrived on time and the site is secured, keeping your payment information out of the hands of hackers.
Marketing Your Designs
Share your work on social media. You can do this on your personal account, but I recommend creating a separate set of accounts for your brand, so you don't spam the people you know.
Use the Redbubble marketing templates to create attractive ads for your products.
Join groups and get to know other people on Redbubble. Others in the community may like your art and want to buy it, and if nothing else, you will have made some friends!
Enter your best work into challenges. I have already won first place in one challenge, and I have only been on the site since October 2018 (three months ago at the time of this writing), so anything is possible.
Tell your family and friends about how you are selling your work online, because they might like it.
Create business cards for your Redbubble page and give them to anyone interested.
Buy a couple of your designs to wear, and when someone asks where you got that shirt, you can send them to your page.

buzzly.art/~The%20Great%20Lucario/blog/non-active-popular-members
you wanna get more popular? try posting on some other site instead, buzzly is not for you if you wanna get attention, unless you like having a small echo chamber around you. and before you assume i hate buzzly, no, every site has its own problems (there's legit no perfect art site unfortunately). in fact, i was quite fond of buzzly (even if i don't agree with the proship content being allowed personally, but i can always filter that (ever heard of "don't like, don't look"?) and besides, beggars can't be choosers). i ended up leaving buzzly because it got so dead after the drama. again i don't agree with the content they allow now, but i was willing to give the site a chance. the problem is that most of my friends/favorite artists left/got suspended and i couldn't get attention there from anyone else, so i just left it quietly instead of showing my art to no audience. i tried multiple places (deviantart, furaffinity, weasyl) and of all places, i got the biggest audience of furaffinity (which is sad because the site is so old fashioned and clunky, you can't even filter specific tags there!). heck, people finally got interested and started commissioning me too (super helpful especially since i've had a ton of unexpected things happening that require money).
i do wish that buzzly would possibly rise up again, because i would probably consider giving it another chance. also i do understand what you mean though, it sucks the popular page is filled with dead accounts, but i had an idea for the popular page, what if instead of deleting the accounts, they would just get pushed off the popular page after some time (a month or two, year, i dunno) if they haven't logged in for a while? i feel that'd be fair and by not deleting the accounts, there's a chance of the users possibly coming back (especially if the site improves).

Get to know the blogger
I was tagged by @starknstarwars and so sorry that I’m just now getting around to this.
No pressure tags for: @dimigex @kunoichi-ume @jlsigman @chaosandwonder @rainofaugustsith  and anyone else who would like to join in!
1. Why did you choose your url?
Cinlat was the name of a character that I created back in highschool, a side character with no real weight to the plot. After multiple attempts at clever names while joining swtor, I got annoyed and tossed her name in and it was accepted. Afterward, I used it for everything else because it’s always available. THEN she became a prominent character in my main fic mostly by accident.
2. Any sideblogs?
I have one dedicated solely to reblogging writing tips. It has 7 followers. That’s probably including me. Then I also run Reignbow’s blog because she still too young for social media, but her art is too good not to share. So if interested, you can find her @reignbow
3. How long have you been on tumblr?
*goes to ask @dimigex* She says 2016, so we’ll go with that since it’s her fault that I’m here.
4. Why did you originally start your blog?
Because Dimi dragged me here, kicking and screaming. But legit, she suggested that I share my writing projects with people other than just her, and that’s how Fynta blasted her way into the hearts of all of you fine people.
5. Why did you choose your icon?
Those boys are the two most important people in Fynta’s life, and I think @dingoat did an amazing job capturing each of their personalities. It’s such a pure and wholesome representation of my favorite people.
6. Why did you choose your header?
It’s funny that this question comes right after I changed it from the group portrait of Fynta and her family. I’ve been back into ffxiv for a while now, and while Isashi has been my main since 2015, I had to make a final fantasy version of Fynta because, well, it’s Fynta. Naturally, Fynta started adopting people the moment she set foot in Eorzea. She decided that Isashi needed to lighten up, which dragged Kirin into the group, and Lukos is mostly there unwillingly but has no where else to go. Thus, they are now The Gang, because Final Fynta said so. Anyway, I spend about two hours putting that shot together and it turned out too good not to share.
7. What is your post with the most notes?
I genuinely have no idea how to find this information. Feel free to teach me in the replies.
8. How many mutuals do you have?
This questionnaire has taken a turn towards math and I’m not sure how I feel about that.
9. How many followers do you have?
Okay, this one I know how to find. 422. Look at me knowing things.
10. How many blogs do you follow?
303...I legit thought it was more than that.
11. Have you ever made a shitpost?
Not intentionally.
12. How many times do you use tumblr a day?
Given that this is basically the only social media site that I visit....a lot....I’m not even sorry.
13. Have you ever fought another blog?
Nope.
14. How do you feel about “need to reblog” posts?
I am not great about reblogging, ngl. If it’s a close friend/mutual I’m more likely to. Or if it’s something I think my mutuals will find as amusing as I do. Otherwise I mostly just yell about my ocs/gaming/writing with my friends and then yell about theirs too. I very rarely, if ever, reblog political/religious stuff simply because that’s just not what I’m on this site for specifically.
15. Do you like tag games?
I definitely do, though I’m terrible about getting them done in a timely manner. But, thankfully, people keep tagging me. Thanks all!
16. Do you like ask games?
I definitely enjoy those too, with the same results as above.
17. Which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous?
That’s really tough, actually. I follow so many talented authors and artists. I’ve got to agree with @starknstarwars about @sleepswithvillains being one of them. Also @riajade01 thievinghippo, moonlitalien, thegarbagechute and @dingoat is starting to climb those ranks too. Just off the top of my head. (I’m not going to tag them all because I don’t actively talk with several and have no idea how they feel about random tagging, but you should absolutely check out their blogs.)
18. Do you have a crush on a mutual?
Nah, I’m too old for crushes. XD. I’ve made some genuine friendships though.

here’s a long post about a bunch of webcomics i love and recommend. i’ve certainly read & liked other ones and have just lost track of them somehow but these are like, mostly classics that basically anyone who reads newer webcomics will recommend to you and a couple i’ve found more recently that i loved. tried to limit it to FAVES that update pretty regularly or are already completed so you can get quality stories out of it but it still ended up mammoth so uh, it’s goin’ under a readmore
namesake - super long-running comic with beautiful art, consistent and frighteningly frequent updates, made by Webcomics Pros. it’s about people who have the ability to enter the worlds of essentially any fairy tales in which the protagonists happen to share their name, and the lore only gets more intricate from there. this one is a very engaging archive binge as it’s been running for about a million years
gunnerkrigg court - honestly if you’re not already reading gunnerkrigg court i'd be very surprised since this is another one that’s been going easily since the invention of webcomics (not really, but THAT ARCHIVE!). i don’t know how to summarize it beyond saying it STARTS as a story about a girl attending a quirky boarding school and is now kind of a sweeping epic about the intersection of technology, nature, and divinity. there’s time travel or something in there now?! you will love renardine. i love renardine
paranatural - another one i’m sure you’re already reading and if not, WHY? it’s a fun li’l action-comedy about middle schoolers fighting ghosts with the help of other ghosts. has been running for a good while and gone through some weird changes but is also probably one of the funniest serial comics i’ve ever read
he is a good boy - a super weird, cerebral, since-finished comic by online comics vet KC Green, about a little acorn finally leaving the tree he grew on after it dies. this one has more “adult” content than any of the previous ones, but if you can handle some cartoony gore and obscenity it’s really funny, strange, and worth checking out
anything by evan dahm tbh - these come recommended by absolutely anyone with taste because evan dahm makes beautiful fantasy comics. rice boy and order of tales are both completed and have a bizarre, super-unique setting and bittersweet approach to these delicate, human stories (despite having no actual human characters). vattu is still currently running and is a slightly more grounded fantasy comic about a little girl from a nomadic hunter-gatherer culture getting caught up in the machinery of the empire that’s moving in on the land where she was born. cannot recommend these enough TBH
also anything on johnny wander - this site contains a bunch of comics by a couple of married comics pros; a big backlog of their really funny, charming autobio comics, the entirety of their graphic novel lucky penny, a whole bunch of shorter comics you might have seen around, and also their new, longer-form webcomic barbarous, which is about a wizard school dropout who’s appointed as a super at an apartment building full of weird magical folks. recommended because there’s a lot of quality stuff in there for you
the sword interval - on webtoon, completed. legit my favorite thing i’ve read in a hot minute. modern fantasy about a young woman who tracks down a legendary, but retired monster hunter for help on her quest to find and kill the lich-like being who killed her parents. gorgeous art, super awesome monster designs, twists on twists, characters you will never want anything bad to happen to ever. reggie the golem.
widdershins - a pretty well established comic i only just read recently. a series of connected stories following different characters from a big ensemble cast and their various adventures in a magical town in victorian west yorkshire. full of fun old-timey shit and wizards. i read it obsessively in like a day. super funny, super long archive. extremely endearing characters who you also will never want anything bad to happen to.
the last halloween - abby howard is a godly horror artist who’s been doing this comic since her style and sense of humor were almost completely different, but the story really does grow as it goes and is both very spooky and very funny. book one is about a little girl facing the potential extinction of humanity after the spontaneous appearance of billions of monsters. it’s currently in book 2, which is a direct sequel about different characters that actually updates sporadically at the moment because the artist is making other cool stuff. definitely still worth it though. gets intense as hell
string theory - this one got back into regular updates pretty recently! i’m linking the about page, not the homepage, because this one is about nasty people doing nasty things and there’s a few CWs that the author mentions right in the summary. it’s an alternate history sci-fi set in a near future where the USA was devastated by nuclear weapons after the cuban missile crisis but is mostly a character driven story about a jerkhole scientist having a terrible couple years. i can’t explain this one at all. if you like terrible men as much as i do you’ll probably enjoy it
tiger, tiger - a beautifully drawn maritime fantasy about a young noblewoman who impersonates her sea captain brother in order to launch an expedition to study sea sponges. there is a sexy nonbinary sea monster character if that sweetens the pot for you any. awesome, subtly integrated worldbuilding. super funny and charming. i love this one a whole bunch
bybloemen - i’m not just recommending this because i’m vague internet acquaintances with the author, it’s ALSO an extremely one-of-a-kind comic about the dutch tulip mania, and also demons. the art is gorgeous and the character designs are some of my favorites out there in newer webcomics. just kind of an extremely good concept that i think everyone should check out. and it’s funny, duh
mare internum - completed. an extremely affecting sci-fi set on Mars. you really just have to read this one, honestly. i’m also linking to the about page on this one because it contains CWs to keep in mind; it’s an incredibly well-constructed character study of some flawed, complicated people and also awesome if you like space aliens.
ozzie the vampire - another supernatural action-comedy because i know what i like, about a recently turned vampire girl and her best friend defending their small new jersey town from demons. super funny, super exciting, and really grounded and realistic for a story that’s about a vampire punching demons. the artist is also a superhuman wizard who draws a whole other comic, a shounen inspired action story called station square that you should check out if you end up liking ozzie.

1. what is the first song you remember hearing? Oh man uhh... i remember my my dad playing the video for... oops i did it again I think? by britney spears and i was very obsessed with it. if i saw the video I would know but i don’t feel like doing that. hard to say if that is my earliest memory of music tho. i remember listening to the R.E.M. In Time greatest hits in the car late at night and feeling weird out of body as Man on the Moon came on. i like that story better but I have no idea when that memory is from. i also feel like i heard my mom singing along with Sarah McLaughlin or Norah Jones a lot when i was very young.
2. what is the first band you got into? hmm... i  really loved Bon Jovi when I was very young but i didn’t like. have any knowledge of them or their discography I just liked slippery when wet and their greatest hits. and also thats embarrassing so i am trying to think of an out... probably the first real musical obsession i had was lana del rey when I was 14 /15 but thats also not great. just take the L buddy... i didnt actually get into music i would now consider very good until about 16.
3. do you collect any physical music? during quar i started trolling ebay and other similar sites for cheap cds and I have gotten a pretty good collection! you would be shocked the number of people who just really do not want to have their R.E.M. albums anymore. I have a few vinyls- a couple of cheap Joni records, Station to Station, the mats Dead Mans Pop boxset thing, and the R.E.M. single So. Central Rain. Oh and I have a very cool cd single of beastie boys body movin’. I also have a collection of cassettes that used to belong to my mom- she passed 5 yrs ago so they are very special to me! she had some R.E.M., U2, Eurythmics, Squeeze, Crowded House, Indigo Girls, and I recently dug up a bootlegged Tracy Chapman tape! she might have some more at her childhood home and if I find a tape of murmur i’ll like blackout. the sad thing is that now I really like all these musicians my mom apparently liked but i was not into them when she was alive so :/ figuring things out feels like archeology. was listening to In Time greatest hits the other day and was like she definitely skipped E-Bow the Letter every time it came on lol bc i did not hear this song until like last year.
4. what is your favourite piece of music memorabilia? do you know that picture of R.E.M. where they are all holding roses like they are all going to the prom together? i scored a poster of that off Ebay for the incredible deal of $50!! a deal at any price :) I don’t have much that is like legit valuable lol. But here you have to see the picture
Tumblr media
5. what's your favourite concert you've ever been to? hmm i havent really been to any truly mindblowing concerts I don’t think. I got to see Tommy Stinson play an acoustic set at 7th street entry in 2019 which was very cool. I feel crazy saying thats my favorite but it was incredibly special.
6. if you could see one artist who is no longer alive in concert, who would it be? If you ask right now I would probably have to say Replacements with Bob Stinson. Prince would be a close one
7. have you met any musicians? almost! when i went to see tommy stinson, afterwards he was hanging in a bar next to the club and was taking selfies with people. i kept thinking about getting in line and eventually i decided to just do it. when i finally went to go look for him he was deep in a conversation with someone and I also realized i had nothing intelligent to say, so i sat and stared at him talking for a bit until i left and went back to the show.
8. what is your go to album when you're feeling sad? Tim by the mats! i think i maybe listened to this album every day my senior year of high school. it is legitimately strange how I feel as if this album just knows me very well. everyone says this about the mats but every song feels like it’s about me and my life. I think a perk of being a lower middle class Minnesotan with an alcoholic father is just really really getting the replacements. but i guess it depends on the kind of sad I am. If i’m just looking to be cheered up i might go with Lifes Rich Pageant or Green by R.E.M. because invariably by the end of Tim I will be bummed out !
9. what is your go to album when you're feeling happy? somehow this is a very hard question. Radio City by Big Star was a big one for me when i was still on campus. maybe an obvious one but rubber soul is a good being happy album
10. what is one music documentary you love? the doc Every Everything about Grant Hart from Hüsker Dü is a favorite. it’s just all interview with him and he’s a fascinating guy. I’ve never watched an interview with him where i wasn’t like woah u’re smart :0... the director of that also did a good replacements doc but at certain point with mats journalism im just like well i could’ve just read trouble boys.
11. what is one concert DVD you love? I think I only own one concert DVD, Prince’s Lovesexy show which i was very obsessed with back in high school.
12. do you prefer listening to playlists or albums? i prefer albums usually, sometimes i’m in the mood for a playlist but albums are def superior
13. do you prefer to listen to albums in order or on shuffle? in order !!!! What am i a psychopath
14. what is your favourite deep cut song by your favourite artist? Portland by the mats is a top ten song of theirs. very in character for it to be a b-side i’m not even mad
15. what is your favourite cd/cassette/vinyl you own in terms of packaging? I love the inner sleeve of my Grandpaboy cd which is just Paul Westerberg’s doodles and scribblings. sometimes when i buy stuff off of ebay it comes with notes and stuff too which is my favorite. my copy of suicaine gratifaction came with a very sweet note of how much the previous owner loved it. and my copy of mbv’s loveless has this very hard to read note which i can maybe make out half of. if you can read it please translate for me.

Detect Magic: the Sixth World Tarot by Echo Chernik
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(pictured here- the deluxe edition [left] and the Arcanist edition of the Sixth World Tarot by Echo Chernik)
Y'know, it's been a long time since I did one of these, but here goes. It's time for another Detect Magic review. I haven't put the Dork Magician hat on for a while, so let's give this a whirl!
Today we're taking a look at the Sixth World Tarot, by Echo and Lazarus Chernik. She has this available on her website (click the above link), which come signed by the artist and the author. I'm a bit bummed, I bought a copy of this deck juuuuust before she started signing them. Not her fault, but still. XD
For those of you unfamiliar with Shadowrun, it's a cyberpunk dystopian magic-and-mech RPG setting and fantasy novel universe which originated in the late 80's. The premise is that magic is growing stronger, the world experienced a big Awakening in the early 2000's, right around the same time that corporations managed to gain extraterritoriality. So, you have dragons running huge megacorps, which basically enslave people to be lifelong wageslaves from birth (or as soon as they can get their hands on a desired talent), immersive VR Matrix hackers, cyberware enhanced fighters and magic practitioners acting as "deniable assets" to said corps for all sorts of shady business.
Hence the name "Shadowrun."
This setting, one of my absolute favorite settings out there, has had the misfortune of developing a sort of eerie prophetic element akin to the Simpsons and its bizarre track record of prediction of ludicrous world events. Shadowrun was intended to be a cautionary tale, not an oracular one. That being said, that does make a tarot based on Shadowrun more than a little on-the-nose for predictive purposes. After all, they're telling the future without even trying. Wait until they actually put some effort into it...
Tumblr media
All right, time to Detect Magic!
Accessory- Crit (4 out of 4) Stunning artwork, evocative imagery... this deck is gorgeous. It's so beautiful, and so intricate and well made, that people who don't even read tarot (or even particularly like tarot) buy several copies for their geeky collections, and even people who don't particularly care about Shadowrun have dropped their jaw when I showed the deck to them.
A bit busier than I'm used to working with (not the art, but the extras which I'll explain later), I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the cards when I first got them. The box for both editions I own are a nice durable gloss with a magnetic foldover closure, there's a ribbon inside each to help pull the cards and book out of the box, and the decorative artwork is gorgeous and fitting with the setting. Definitely aesthetically pleasing enough to take places, and durable enough to resist scuffing or tearing for on-the-go divination and gaming use.
Tome- Crit (4 out of 4) So, the Tome section of this review is supposed to be about how well the cards help one in the pursuit of learning magic and practicing geekomancy. And... really, I don't think I've found a deck (or any artifact of fandom) quite as good as this.
Let me explain.
Tarot, in the sorcery practice I teach, are already basically a pictorial grimoire, describing life in a way that allows us to learn the hidden movements, mysteries, and forces at play in our world. Art is good for things like that in general. It helps you see the world through a special lens, one which allows you to see things you might have missed.
The thing is, the lens of this deck is the Shadowrun continuity, which as I said earlier, has proven to be more than a little prophetic, and alarmingly so.
The magic system of Shadowrun is pretty adjacent to our own. Life force lines, spiritual power sites, astral projection and spirits and magical "energy" forms, initiatory mysteries... it's all pretty much the same as our own reality, just juiced up a bit, with some extra game elements added (don't even ask me about insect spirits).
This makes the deck particularly helpful if one wishes to learn magic in any of the myriad ways described in Shadowrun (and they're particularly respectful and diverse and true-to-life in their tradition descriptions).
BUT, it also has an entire lore-book called the Book of the Lost associated with it, which explains all these little secret sigils and images and easter eggs stored throughout the deck, which can be used for gamebuilding and storytelling, but are designed to be arcane indicators and omens, among other things. And the kinds of symbols they use range from sentences or mottos in dead languages, all the way to waveform patterns and dot-matrix maps. I swear, if you're one of those people who like puzzles and cryptography, this deck is even more fun than the Hermetic Tarot.
In summary, while you'll have to get some Shadowrun sourcebooks to really get deep into the canon lore, there's so much of it that the cards really show you on their own that I don't consider this a setback at all. Feel free to deep-dive with this deck, you'll learn a TON about magic if you let it guide you.
Relic- Success (3 out of 4) If you read the Book of the Lost, or Unearthed Arcana, or any of the 5th edition Shadowrun magic sourcebooks, you'll see that "tarot magic" is an up and coming thing in their canon. Each text helps you see how practitioners use the cards in-game for spellcasting, ritual magic, initiation practices and spirit summoning. The Tarot are already really valuable as central objects of importance to certain kinds of magical practice. This particular deck is designed to be so handy a central object that there's an entire book dedicated to it.
Weapon- Success (3 out of 4) The only reason I'm rating this a success instead of a crit is because they don't provide enough spreads in the various associated books for one to immediately begin casting spells with them, which means you'll have to do some designing. They do have a couple solid unique spreads for basic divination though.
The deck's canon in-game suggests ritual practices like gathering and doing a ritual with sets of related cards, and one such ritual was easily adapted in my own practice, into the Lucky Kimono spread I designed (which people can read about on my Patreon at the higher tiers). So, even without outright including spell-spreads, they sort of gave us clues anyway.
Again, you're going to need the sourcebooks, but it's only a few of them, and they're well worth a read even if you're not planning on playing the game (and I don't play in the actual Shadowrun mechanical system, though I do like the sourcebooks for campaign setting ideas).
Overall Rating: Critical Success (14 out of 16)
Achievement Unlocked: Novahot Echo's artwork is already legendary in the dork realms of geekomancy. She's done work for Dungeons and Dragons, Mage: the Ascension, House of Night... she's even working on a Fate: the Winx Saga playing card deck right now. Her art-nouveau delicacy combined with the powerful non-pandering way she draws women means that her paintings pack a punch!
That being said, it's rare that we see professional artists create a tarot deck of this magnitude as a gaming accessory. Most tarot decks of this caliber are found in professional occult catalogues or as independent projects by artists just wanting to flex their skills for their own reasons. To have a deck like this, clearly a labor of love by all involved, as a major element of gameplay within a franchise is really very special. And something this diverse, deep, and absolutely saturated with layers of ciphers and riddles... it's a geekomancer's dream come true.
Level Up: 2 Levels I think the only way anyone's going to be able to top this deck is if they manage to design a tarot deck that's also a fully immersive VR video game AND an AR game and divination tool useable with one's iPhone or Android. Legit, Echo and Lazarus left everyone in the dust. I haven't been this excited about Shadowrun since Shadowrun Returns first came out, and I got a set of dogtags that had a USB drive with the game on it.
It's just... crazy cool.
Full disclosure, I've had the deluxe edition of these cards for a while now, so I've basically been low-key squeeing about this deck since I first heard about it in 2018, even before I got it. I've been utterly astonished that people weren't more excited about them, and I wasn't hearing about them everywhere.
Before this, I created my own Shadowrun tarot method using the Universal Transparent Tarot (cuz, y'know, plastic and see-through and weird little mosaic readings all in one place, seemed fitting to me), and when I got the Sixth World Tarot? I don't think I've opened the UTT since!
Anyway, this is my review of this deck! Go follow the link up at the top of this post, and buy yourself one! And hey, let me know if you figure out the cool little map trick. My jaw literally dropped when I was shown that!

GO OFF- i love subcon just as much as any other part of the game, tho i can agree its a little over rated it still doesnt mean that people have to talk badly about it and the fact that people make content for it. Moonjumper is a HUGE comfort character for me and seeing the people i look up to censor their name and talking about how tired they are of seeing him.. is not fun.
Ugh, yeah, you’re not the only one getting tired of the negativity. It was dragging me down before, not gonna lie, but when they brought my friend into it that was the last straw for me. But fuck it, I’m gonna go off again because all of this has been absolute bullshit:
Snatcher isn’t overrated. AHIT’s a TINY fandom, he isn’t completely inescapable like the onceler fandom. Most people on this site don’t even know who he is. Does he get a lot of art compared to the rest of the fandom? Yes. Does he get a lot of notes? Also yes. Know why? Because people like him. And people are capable of liking more than one character at a time!! Wow! But!! Sometimes people hyperfixate or have a special interest for just one character at a time as well, and that’s fine too!
Moonjumper isn’t overrated either, he’s not even canon for crying out loud! At least the other characters got screen time in the game, he got nothing! Most of the stuff of him is purely fan creation, so anyone who’s shitting on him is shitting all over the fans who breathe life into that character and come up with their own things for him.
Honestly? I’ve seen more people leaving this fandom because these sadsacks keep venting about not being popular enough in the main tags and bringing the mood down for everyone, than I’ve seen people leave because of anything else. People have legit been feeling guilty about LIKING THEIR FAVORITE CHARACTER because these people keep saying it’s an “actual problem” and “killing the fandom”. As if people making content is somehow destroying it, or doing actual harm to people???
They act like this is some big conspiracy of people PURPOSEFULLY and MALICIOUSLY not reblogging their pictures or some shit. People draw what they like to see. They like art that they like to see. And they reblog art that they want to share. It’s really that simple, nobody’s evilly wringing their hands together cackling and going “BWOHOHO I WILL NOT REBLOG THIS PICTURE OF A GOAT ON PURPOSE”.
I’ve seen people get sad about only getting ~50 notes (which is still a lot of people by the way just saying)-
I get it. It feels discouraging, I’ve been through that shit with dead fandoms and my OCs back before I made any comic stuff for them. My ocs are still not nearly as popular as my fandom stuff (but that’s okay, because I draw fandom stuff because I like it, not because it gets me notes or some shit.)
But many people can tell you that drawing Subcon characters is NOT a guarantee of notes, and even then, and most importantly- NOBODY owes reblogs to anyone, popular artist or not. Popular artists are PEOPLE, not a PLATFORM TO BOOST YOUR NUMBERS. If nobody’s supporting your friends, that’s for YOU to do. Bullying or guilting other people into it’s only going to create resentment for you, resentment for the characters you’re trying to promote, and sour the fandom for everyone.
Don’t wanna see certain characters? Block the tags for those characters. Too many blocked posts in the main tags? Follow the tags for the characters you do wanna see. AND instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and literally saying a character has “toxic popularity” (what the fuck even is THAT) because more people like them- MAKE THE THINGS YOU WANNA SEE. SUPPORT OTHER PEOPLE MAKING THINGS YOU LIKE SO THEY MAKE MORE OF THOSE THINGS. FRIEND THEM ON DISCORD AND CHAT ABOUT YOUR FAVES THERE! IT’S NOT THAT DIFFICULT.
You don’t need an auditorium full of people to have fun!
And for the love of pete, STOP PUTTING YOUR HATE IN THE TAGS. I thought that shit was basic tumblr etiquette, but here we are!
If people think that a bunch of fans enjoying a funny evil noodle or a puppeteering moon zombie is THE WORST PROBLEM going on right now... Uhhhh, boy... do I have news for ‘em!

How to import fandom and maybe other stuff from Norway
After Skam I know Norway became rather popular, and while you can take Norwegian courses, it doesn't help much if you can't actually use it (and know from own experience that talking Norwegian online to foreigners feels weird even if you know they understand Norwegian if they introduced themselves in English >////>, here on Tumblr I mostly write in English even to my Norwegian friends as it feels more natural). Some of you might even while not being interested in learning the language would like to import something fun to have something new and exciting in these often same-feeling days. Some of you might even just be after to support your favorite Norwegian artists. So if you are after more than just food on eBay, here ya go.
So, not many Norwegian online shops ships outside Norway as Norwegian shipping prices are pretty steep. So I've looked far and wide, and found 2 (4 if you include a sketchy souvenir shop I saw, but all the books they had were 2 translated Harry Potter books, riveting, and a grocery store so unless you are desperately after some weekly magazine do they not have much, unless you want some snacks, which is understandable). So the two I found are:
- Ivo Caprino
For you puppet/stop motion fans out there. They sell region free DVDs with Caprino's fairy tale inspired movies, and Flåklypa (my personal favorite). The DVDs include both sub and dub. Not much more can be said.
- Bokkilden
I didn't find this one on my own, it was Dina Norlund who found it. They have more than just books, so you can look at them too. But unfortunately the site, like the grocery store is it only available in Norwegian, but fear not! I have translated how to fill it here! After filling the cart:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ordered a couple of books to some Youtubers I watch to test it, more about that below. They have no place to put state/province I thought (and you can't add it to zip/postal code as it only accepts numbers and one hypen), but the ekstraadresse (extra address) field I put it in there. In there it appeared two places, on top as a C/O, and further below right under the postal/zip code, then I clicked on endre adresse (edit address) and could remove the C/O field while the extra one below remained. Their shipping cost seems to be 200nok no matter what to other countries, just so you are aware.
As always, use a currency calculator when buying from other countries!
For those of you wanting to import something but doesn't want anything in Norwegian (yet), or you @fjordsoncomic fans out there, here are the volumes! In English! (they are in the souvenir section of book stores here)
Other recommendations from me personally:
Ruben Eliassen, especially Phenomena (Mare is unfortunately only available as downloadable audio books)
Odin Helgheim
Dina Norlund
Charlotte Sandmæl
Malin Falch
H. L. Phoenix
Siri Pettersen (her first big book came out in English recently yes, so you can read them side by side if you want)
Kjell Aukrust
Jens Bjørneboe
Anne-Cath Vestly
Alf Prøysen
Ole Lund Kirkegård
If you wonder about their legitimacy, I ordered from them to send to
I ordered from Caprino in March and Bokkilden now in April, so if they show up in upcoming videos, we know they're legit. I ordered from the grocery store some time ago, but they're kind of weird as you can see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And to German Phenomena fans, in 2019 the 8th phenomena book finally came out, but Eliassen had to self-publish it. He's currently selling it through vipps (and conventions before you know what), but as vipps is only available to people with a Norwegian social security number, can you ask him on Instagram or Facebook if he please could start taking PayPal payments or something, could be useful for me too as I don't trust vipps.
If you are interested in the graphic novels and want them in English (and sold in bookstores where you live so you don't have to import from Norway), how about filling Seven Seas' survey (they count as #NordicManga) or send a mail to Dark Horse or something. If they first come out in English, they'll likely come out around the world not soon after.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
- @alchemydragon (my ask box is glitched though so I might not be able to see your name before I answer...)
