Mara Jade: So this one is called the 19 BBY Overture.  Ben Skywalker: I kinda like it. Interesting percussion section.  Mara Jade: Those are turbolasers.  Ben Skywalker: And they play this in crowded concert halls? Gee, I thought classical music was boring!

rebecca_ferguson: That’s a wrap! The season two finale of #Silo is here. Feeling incredibly grateful and proud… to work alongside this cast and crew is a dream. Excited to get back to the silo for season three.

deep thrawn thoughts
(Just reread Vol. 1 of the Thrawn comic and had Things To Say. Lmk if I should elaborate on anything.)
“My job—the sole reason for my existence—is to defend the Chiss Ascendancy and protect my people. I will do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal, and I will allow nothing and no one to stand in my way.”
~ Timothy Zahn, Lesser Evil
Thrawn’s view of himself as an asset, a weapon, a tool of the Ascendancy is an example of his deep dehumanization of himself and his outlook as someone of no value except as a resource to be utilized. Thrawn thinks of himself as an expendable resource, and this contributes to his lack of value for himself, despite the deep value others have for him and the enormous positive impact he has on the lives of those around him. Though he seems to be controlling the chessboard, he sees himself as a pawn to be sacrificed, going where he can be the most use to his government. Thrawn’s disassociation from his humanity—his wants and needs and desires—are the true tragedy of his character, and why he serves as the perfect foil for Jedi Anakin Skywalker. The tragedy of Anakin was that he gave up his duty for the sake of his desires, while Thrawn’s tragic nature demands he forsake his desires in order to uphold his duty.
The greatest military mind the galaxy has ever seen, and yet he cannot bring himself to value everything that he is.
In this essay I will—

Silo The Harmonium Review: Class Struggles and Power Dynamics
TL;DR – Today, we hit the point of no return. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.5 out of 5. Disclosure – I paid for the Apple TV+ service that viewed this series. Silo Review – Fundamentally, what works so well about Silo is that even though it is a post-apocalyptic sort of sci-fi story about people living in a heavily class-stratified society under a quasi-fascist government with a veneer of democracy to…

📽️ The Object of My Affection (1998)
I watched this whole thing, but I honestly wasn’t a huge fan. It’s just sad. The whole premise is kind of messed up and unbelievable. Don’t believe that it’s a love story. I don’t have much to say about this one and I wouldn’t really recommend it.
Sex/nudity: 2/10 (implied sex between a gay couple, almost sex between a man and woman, kissing, talk of both hetero and homo relationships)
Language: 4/10 (more than one f-word but I don’t remember how many, other profanities as well)
Violence: 0/10 (I don’t remember any violence at all)
Overall rating: 3/10

You'd think it would be pronounced that way, but no.
C'Baoth is pronounced "Sa-bay-off," according to Zahn, and the audiobooks all follow suit.
Here's Zahn's pronunciation guide:
youtube
This is, of course, a criminal way to pronounce a name spelled "C'Baoth," and Zahn should be publicly shamed for it
I love him

Silo: Solo Review - The Battle of Flexibility vs. Rigidness
TL;DR – Today’s episode is all about the tension between flexibility and rigidness, and it was a fascinating discussion. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4 out of 5. Silo Review – In the first two episodes of the season, The Engineer & Order, we got to catch up on what was happening in both of the Silos. Now that we have our grounding, it is time to start propelling the narrative forward. Well, that is what we…
