Drivers typically visit an auto repair shop if they notice a problem, such as leaks, driveability issues, warning lights, or noises.
They will also see a mechanic when it’s time for routine maintenance.
However, your car needs more than just the occasional oil change or a new battery. It also requires flushes, suspension repair, and the replacing of components that wear out from daily use.
If you choose to take care of one or certain parts of your car, you’re only doing a portion of the work. It’s like updating the antivirus on your computer but not performing the Windows updates.
Preventative car maintenance keeps various systems running smoothly and can help travelers avoid unsightly bills.

11 Signs You Need Immediate Tyre Repair
Tumblr media
Tyre repair is essential for ensuring car safety and performance while driving. The condition of your tyres is critical since they are the only contact point between your vehicle and the road surface. Unfortunately, many motorists neglect this vital, life-saving task.
Besides preventing fatal accidents, spotting the signs below and acting on them immediately will improve fuel efficiency and severe vehicle damage.
Types of Tyre Damage
Punctures and Holes
Punctures and holes are the most obvious sign that you need to fix your tyres. Common culprits include nails, screws, or other sharp objects that can penetrate the tyre.
Cracks and Dry Rot
Exposure to elements like sunlight and heat leads to cracks and dry rot. These signs of aging indicate the deterioration of rubber, which compromises the tyre's performance and safety.
Cupping or Scalloping
Cupping or scalloping patterns on your tyre tread can indicate suspension or alignment issues. Irregular wear patterns can affect tyre performance and should be checked by professionals.
Cuts and Gashes
Cuts and gashes can occur from hitting road hazards such as debris or sharp objects. The severity and size of these cuts determine if a repair is possible. Tyres with minor surface cuts may be repairable, but deeper gashes may need replacement.
Low Tread Depth
Tread depth is crucial for maintaining traction and safety, especially in wet conditions. Use a tread depth gauge to measure your tyre tread. If it's below the legal limit (usually 1.6 mm), it's time for a replacement.
Poor Handling
Are you experiencing reduced responsiveness, pulling to one side, or uneven driving? They can signal tyre problems. These issues usually come from uneven wear, low pressure, or alignment problems.
Reduced Air Pressure
The need to inflate your tyres regularly is an indication of slow leaks. Low air pressure in your tyres affects car handling and fuel efficiency. Having them checked for leaks and other damages the soonest can prevent more significant issues.
Tyre Bulges and Blisters
Bulges and blisters on the tyre's surface indicate that the internal structure has been damaged, often from impacts like hitting potholes. These deformations are serious safety risks as they can lead to tyre blowouts.
Uneven Tread Wear
Uneven tread wear often leads to improper alignment, unbalanced tyres, or suspension issues. Check your tyre tread regularly for uneven wear patterns, such as more wear on one side.
Vibrations Whilst Driving
Unusual vibrations or thumping while driving can indicate unbalanced tyres, internal damage, or alignment issues. Persistent vibrations should be checked by a professional to identify and correct the underlying problem.
Weird Noises
Thumping, whining, whistling, or other unusual noises whilst driving can indicate tyre issues. These sounds come from air loss, structural damage, or foreign objects lodged in the tyre.
Regular checking of your tyres is essential for keeping your vehicle safe. Regular tyre inspections, both visual and professional, along with immediate attention to any issues, can extend the life of your tyres and keep you safe on the road. Stay vigilant and active in your tyre maintenance to ensure a smooth and secure driving experience.

It’s time for tire replacement on a Ford Explorer.
All new tires are needed, due to age. These tires were produced in 2018.
Tires should be changed by the time they reach the 8 to 10-year mark. Some may be swapped out at 6 years or sooner.
The lifespan can be impacted by a tire’s quality, treadwear, weather conditions, and tire damage.

One of the indicators that it’s time to replace tires is the tread depth. Depending on the car, we start suggesting new tires around 3/32 of an inch or 4/32 of an inch. There are times, however, when tire replacement is necessary, even if plenty of tread is left.
We are recommending that all four tires on a BMW X5 be replaced. The front tires are measuring at 3/32 of an inch, while the rear tires are at 10/32 of an inch.
The SUV is all-wheel drive. If all of the tires aren’t replaced, it can lead to premature drivetrain failure and other problems.

ultimately i think my insistence on aro positivity honestly is as much a political stance as a personal one.
when i say aro positivity is crucial and that i dislike doomer-ist posts that express sentiments like 'I hate being aro so much I wish I was dead instead it's not because I don’t think there can and should be a space for negativity and acknowledging self-hate, or the many ways being aromantic can really suck sometimes. i find that to be very important!
that being said. there is smth here about how self-hate posts are sometimes just arophobia that we inflict on ourselves. and when we put that out into the ether it (intentionally or not) can become arophobia that we inflict on other members of the community. i think there absolutely needs to be a place for negativity and the expression of anger and frustration and self loathing even - these are all good things to talk about because these are things that we experience. that being said, it can also be genuinely upsetting and triggering to people to have what is essentially arophobia shown to them and then have that be validated by other aspec people. your personal thoughts can affect your wider community on a level you may not anticipate. and i understand it i truly do! it took me so long to be able to recover from accepting being aroace - it threw my entire world off kilter and made me question everything about my place in the world.
but my insistence on aro joy and positivity is because ultimately i do believe that building is at the core essence of it all. that ultimately discussions and the purpose of community should be about construction, not destruction. and this is both a personal and a political stance. talking about how much you hate yourself and cultivating online discussions/spaces where negativity about aspec identity is the main and only theme is destructive - if that’s where we let the conversation end. these thoughts can and should be used as a vehicle to look for a path forward!
joy and positivity create a space where the focus can become on forging a path forward, on construction, on community building instead of tearing ourselves and others down with negative thoughts. it’s not productive or healthy when it stops at a place of negativity - it becomes actively destructive to the essence of community.
and i do think that this is especially poignant considering the fact that being any kind of queer, but especially aromantic (and/or asexual) means forging a path for yourself and making your own happiness where there is no obvious way forward. our communities exist mostly online (right now, anyway), there is little recognition of our existence in the real world, the effects of amatonormativity are both pervasive and actively dehumanising, and there are legal, economic and social structures in place actively making our lives more difficult. yes that all sucks! it’s good to acknowledge that. we need to in order to change it. but more importantly, that’s not the end. we are still here and our happiness, our future is for us to determine. even if we can’t change the laws or society, loving yourself and understanding aromanticism as a political identity (as well as personal), as a radical worldview, and as a protest against amatonormativity is essential for both community and personal well being. the personal is political.
tldr. i guess my point is that as a community, we should focus on building, improving, and nurturing ourselves and each other (construction) as opposed to destruction. we should recognise aromanticism and asexuality as political identities as well as personal ones and rely on community and self-love in the absence of anything else as a form of protest and political power. destruction (the recognition of everything that is wrong) is essential as a starting point - but where do we go from there? we rebuild.
