Movie Reviews:
I can't believe you did this to me but Welcome To The Club Now by Manian this is just a mess of autotune and i found it through a Transformers AMV and they play it at the gym I go to and I'm being forced to admit I used to listen to this - this is a hatecrime bestie fuck you fuck you fuck you-
23. a song you think everyone should listen to
This was really tough but I guess I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges because aside from it just being good it inspired a lot of classic punk bands to, y'know, exist and you can still find traces of it in punk today still
28. a song by an artist with a voice that you love
This was kind of tough because there's multiple vocalists I love; Jeff Rosenstock, Micheal Gira, Stefan Babcock, Vaden Todd Lewis, Hayley Williams, Brittany Luna, and Jake Ewald to name a few - eventually I settled on Jeff Rosenstock
I feel like Jeff vocally is really good because it gives the impression, at least to me, that every single song he's on you could 100% do yourself - in spite of the fact he's been doing vocals for years - you can hear him strain when he screams and him gasping before and after doing so or how he struggles a little to hold a note doing a falsetto but does it anyway
he's amateur but in a good way, I think ***BNB showcases that very well

BATMAN #414
DECEMBER 1987
BY JIM STARLIN, JIM APARO, MIKE DECARLO, ADRIENNE ROY AND ANTHONY TOLLIN
Batman investigates the case of the “dumpster killer” and crosses path with the very interesting Kate Babcock.
SCORE: 9
Welcome to yet another controversial Batman run. Jim Starlin and Jim Aparo did some of the most important stories of Batman post-crisis, but I do not think this one would have done well in modern times. More on that in the spoiler section.
If you are interested in heroes failing to catch the criminal, this is a good one for you (technically part one of a trilogy, but those issues would came later). Jim Starlin’s legacy on Batman are very “hard” stories where Batman wins and loses at the same time, and some extreme measures are constantly being taken.
While Jason is not in this story, by reading this issue, you can start to understand why he ended up that way. I feel like the fate of Jason Todd was a combination of bad decisions made by Max Allan Collins and Jim Starlin.
Still, the issue presents us with a very good Batman story, with the very iconic Jim Aparo, who is not as tough as Starlin in terms of violence and gore, so we end up with a sanitized version of violence, you make a decision if that is good or bad.
Spoilers after the break...
So Kate is another woman in a refrigerator.
The interesting thing this story adds, is Batman making mistakes, when he is overcame with emotions, this would become a trend for the rest of the eighties.
The 3 fandoms that are in this AU are the Umbrella Academy (Netflix Adaptation), Sally Face and ParaNorman. The AU centralizes around the 3 characters who have the most relevance to the deceased. Klaus Hargreeves, Sally Fisher and Norman Babcock.
Klaus Hargreeves: Klaus, also referred to as “Number 4″ was born on October 1st, 1989 along with 43 other children. He was adopted with 6 other children by Reginald Hargreeves, he trained 6 of the 7 children to be superheroes. Klaus can summon the dead and talk to them. His father locks him in a mausoleum when he is 13 to deter his fear of the dead, this causes mental trauma which leads to a drug addiction. He can only see ghosts when he’s sober, including his dead brother, Ben Hargreeves.
Sally Fisher: Sal Fisher is introduced as a young boy in a hospital with his face covered in bandages. When he is 15, he moves from New Jersey to Knockfell with his dad for a new start after his mom dies. He is convinced that the apartment building he lives in is haunted. His friend, Todd upgraded his Gearboy to find supernatural hotspots so that he could talk to his friend, Megan. The Gearboy isn’t necessary for talking to the ghosts but it makes it a lot easier for the ghosts to be summoned.
Norman Babcock: Norman is the youngest of the three. His ability to contact the dead is an inherited trait from his mother’s side of the family bloodline. His granduncle places the task of stopping the witch’s curse on Norman before he kicks the bucket. Unlike the other 2, Norman demonstrates that he can see more than ghosts, he communicated with the zombies in ParaNorman.

“i don’t know what to do paul. this-this has never happened before.” babcock chews on the top of his pen as he glances at the both of you who sat in front of him with your arms crossed. “no, we can’t just pretend it didn’t happen. they’re already fading.”
you subconsciously rub your hand over your hip where the rose was fading, a telltale sign you’d met your match.
“it’s the intern that’s meant to start for todd tomorrow. the one from the university of toronto? graduated top of her class? yea that’s the one.”
“you graduated top of your class?” auston asks, staring at you. when you nod, he responds, “that’s cool.”
babcock snaps his fingers before you could reply verbally signaling you two to shut up. “alright paul. are we still on for golf on sunday? great, see you then buddy.” he hands up the phone and stares at you intently. “so-“
“please don’t fire me!” you nearly yell, startling both men in the room.
“they can’t fire you. you couldn’t help this. if they fire you-“
“what are you gonna do hot shot? flash your pearly whites? bat your eyelashes?” you whip your head around to stare at the brown headed man.
“really? that’s what it’s come to? well-“
“children!” babcock booms and you instantly go quiet and lean back in the chair. he’d ended practice early due to an ‘emergency’. “you’re both in your twenties so if you could please settle this like adults.”
you both roll your eyes and mutter under your breath, ‘i can if he/she can.’
“now if you would have let me speak,” his eyes flick to you, “legally we can’t fire you because this was unforeseen and we obviously can’t control fate. there will, though, have to be a new contract to be signed given that your old one stated you were to have no personal relations with a player. obviously, that will have to be changed.
“there will be a new contract for you to sign tomorrow when you arrive to meet with todd before the game. are there any questions from either of you?” you both shake your heads and he nods. “now, if you’ll excuse me, i need a drink. you can see yourselves out.”
you stand and lead yourself out with your clothes tucked under your arm. you pull your car key from your pocket of the borrowed sweatpants and quickly make your way through the building.
“y/n! wait, please.” you hear auston yell for you as you push open the door. “can we please talk or something?” his eyes were pleading with you.
“i’m good. i need to do laundry, actually.” you say and as you are about the leave he building he grabs your wrist. you snatch it from his grip and point your manicured nail at him, “if you touch me without my permission again, i will gladly kill you and make it look accidental. we clear, matthews?”
“crystal,” he holds his hands up, “can i take you to dinner please? get to know each other?”
you sigh and lean against the door, propping it open. “you won’t let me leave until agree, will you?”
“that was the plan.” he scratches the back of his head. “so are you gonna come? my treat.”
“well i wasn’t gonna pay for it matthews.” you smile and walk out towards your car, hearing his feet quickly following after you to catch up.
-
“you like grape? of all candy, grape?” you ask as you scoop some mac and cheese into your spoon.
“yeah why?” he asks, taking a bite of his burger that he’d made you swear you wouldn’t tell anyone about.
“grape is the worst! well, second to cherry.” you shrug and watch as his mouth drops.
“those are my two favorites!”
“you have to be joking. blue raspberry is undeniably the best flavor of anything anywhere. i will put every cent i have on it.” you say and he laughs.
“every cent?”
“every damn cent auston matthews.”
you both busy into a fit of giggles until you were both on the edge of tears. you were interrupted by your waitress bringing you a milkshake with two straws.
“we didn’t order that.” he says nicely and she shakes her head.
“the owner said it’s on the house. said you two are the cutest couple he’s ever seen.” she sits it in the middle of the table and walks away to tend to her other tables. when she’s out of earshot, you both laugh again.
he pulls the milkshake close to him before sighing. “we’re gonna have to make this work. i’ve heard what happens when you deny a match and i, personally, don’t want to experience that.”
“me neither.” you pull the milkshake towards you and sip from the other straw. “we’re gonna have to make it work.”
“are we a team?” he holds up his hand and you high five him before interlocking your fingers. you melt at the grin that spreads across his face.
