Back to back baby appointments today. Two month well child checkup went well. Now we’re on the way to a specialist hip ultrasound to make sure she doesn’t have any issues from my 3rd trimester fall that would require a brace or other intervention. She’s already going to need physical therapy for torticollis (stiff neck caused by fetal position and back sleeping) which is causing some head flattening… sigh.
But overall she’s doing beautifully, hitting all the milestones she needs to. All the minor complications she’s having are just a result of the 9-month squishening process and the contemporary obsession with back sleeping. Hard to go from lumpy and squishy to rigid and skeleton-ized.
She got her first shots and did really well; it’s a relief to know she can be soothed by us (and some milk) and all that bonding is doing its job.

What conditions can benefit from manual therapy?
Tumblr media
Manual therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. It is often used as part of physical therapy and rehabilitation programs to improve joint mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall musculoskeletal function. Here are some of the common conditions that can benefit from manual therapy:
1. Neck and Back Pain: Manual therapy techniques can be effective in addressing cervical (neck) and lumbar (lower back) pain, including conditions like herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and muscle tension.
2. Joint Stiffness: Manual therapy can improve joint mobility and reduce stiffness in various joints, including the spine, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.
3. Muscle Tension and Spasm: It can help relieve muscle tension, spasms, and myofascial trigger points, which are often associated with conditions like fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome.
4. Sports Injuries: Athletes often use manual therapy to recover from sports-related injuries, such as sprains, strains, and joint injuries. It can also aid in injury prevention and performance optimization.
5. Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: After surgery, manual therapy can assist in the recovery process, improving range of motion, reducing scar tissue formation, and addressing postoperative pain.
6. Osteoarthritis: Manual therapy may help manage the symptoms of osteoarthritis by improving joint function and reducing pain.
7. Headaches: Some forms of headaches, especially tension-type and cervicogenic headaches, may benefit from manual therapy techniques aimed at addressing neck and upper back issues.
8. Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders: Manual therapy can be used to address TMJ pain and dysfunction through techniques like mobilization and stretching.
9. Nerve Impingement Syndromes: Conditions involving nerve impingement, such as sciatica or thoracic outlet syndrome, can be managed with manual therapy to relieve pressure on nerves and improve symptoms.
10. Postural Dysfunction: Manual therapy can help correct postural imbalances and improve alignment, reducing the risk of musculoskeletal pain and injuries.
11. Tendinopathies and Bursitis: Inflammation of tendons (tendinopathies) or bursae (bursitis) can benefit from manual therapy techniques to reduce pain and improve tendon or bursa function.
12. Repetitive Strain Injuries: Conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow can benefit from manual therapy to reduce pain and improve function.
13. Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis): Manual therapy can be part of the treatment plan to address limitations in shoulder mobility associated with frozen shoulder.
14. Pediatric Musculoskeletal Conditions: Children with conditions such as torticollis, developmental hip dysplasia, or congenital musculoskeletal issues may receive manual therapy as part of their care.
It's important to note that manual therapy should be administered by skilled and trained healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, chiropractors, osteopathic physicians, or manual therapists. The specific techniques used and their application depend on the patient's condition, individual needs, and the healthcare provider's assessment. Before undergoing manual therapy, it's advisable to consult with a qualified practitioner to determine if it is suitable for your condition and needs.

Pediatric Chiropractor: Nurturing Your Child's Health And Well-Being
Tumblr media
Introduction
As a parent, ensuring the health and well-being of your child is your top priority. While traditional medical care plays a crucial role in managing your child's health, there are alternative therapies that can complement their overall well-being. Pediatric chiropractic care is one such holistic approach that has gained popularity for its gentle and non-invasive techniques to address various health issues in children. In this article, we explore the significance of pediatric chiropractic care and how Foundations Family Chiropractic is a leading destination for parents seeking the best care for their little ones.
Understanding Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Pediatric chiropractic care is a specialized branch of chiropractic medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues in children from infancy to adolescence. Chiropractors who specialize in pediatric care undergo additional training to understand the unique needs of growing bodies and to administer safe and effective adjustments.
The Importance Of Early Care
The early years of a child's life are critical for their physical and neurological development. Spinal misalignments or subluxations can occur during birth or as a result of falls and accidents during childhood. These misalignments may not always present immediate symptoms but can lead to discomfort, impaired nerve function, and potential health issues later in life. Pediatric chiropractors can detect and address these misalignments early on, promoting proper development and reducing the risk of future health complications.
Gentle AND Safe Techniques
Pediatric chiropractors utilize gentle and safe adjustment techniques tailored to the child's age and specific condition. These techniques may involve using their fingertips to apply slight pressure or employing specialized instruments to ensure a comfortable and painless experience for the child. Rest assured, pediatric chiropractors prioritize the safety and well-being of the child above all else.
Common Pediatric Conditions Treated
Pediatric chiropractic care can address a wide range of conditions in children, including:
Colic and Reflux: Chiropractic adjustments can alleviate digestive issues in infants.
Ear Infections: Gentle adjustments may help improve ear drainage and reduce the frequency of ear infections.
Torticollis: Chiropractic care can aid in correcting head and neck positioning issues.
Developmental Delays: By addressing subluxations, chiropractic care can support proper neurological development.
Posture and Spinal Alignment: Ensuring proper posture and spinal alignment is crucial as children grow.

Pediatric Physiotherapy: Helping Children Reach Their Full Potential.
Pediatric physiotherapy is a specialized area of physical therapy that focuses on the assessment and treatment of infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of conditions affecting their physical development and function. These conditions may include developmental delays, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and sports injuries.
The goal of pediatric physiotherapy is to help children reach their full potential by improving their movement, strength, balance, coordination, and overall physical function. This is achieved through a variety of techniques, including exercise, stretching, manual therapy, and the use of assistive devices.
Conditions Treated by Pediatric Physiotherapy
Pediatric physiotherapy can be helpful for children with a wide range of conditions, including:
Developmental delays: Children with developmental delays may experience delays in their gross motor skills, such as crawling, walking, and running.
Neurological disorders: Children with neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, or Down syndrome may experience difficulties with mobility, coordination, and balance.
Musculoskeletal disorders: Children with musculoskeletal disorders such as scoliosis, clubfoot, or congenital torticollis may require physiotherapy to help improve their posture and mobility.
Sports injuries: Children who participate in sports may experience injuries such as sprains, strains, or fractures that require physiotherapy for rehabilitation.
Treatment Approaches in Pediatric Physiotherapy
The treatment approaches used in pediatric physiotherapy will depend on the child's specific needs and condition. Some of the approaches used may include:
Exercise: Exercise is a key component of pediatric physiotherapy. Physiotherapists will develop exercise programs tailored to the child's needs, which may include stretching, strengthening, and coordination exercises.
Manual therapy: Manual therapy techniques such as massage, joint mobilization, and myofascial release may be used to help improve range of motion, reduce pain, and improve overall function.
Assistive devices: Assistive devices such as braces, orthotics, and mobility aids may be recommended to help improve the child's mobility and function.
Education: Parents and caregivers may be provided with education and training to help them support their child's physical development and function.
The Importance of Early Intervention
Early intervention is key in pediatric physiotherapy. The earlier a child receives physiotherapy, the better their chances of reaching their full potential. Physiotherapy can help prevent complications associated with delayed physical development and function, and can improve a child's quality of life.
In conclusion, pediatric physiotherapy plays an important role in helping children reach their full potential. By improving their movement, strength, balance, coordination, and overall physical function, pediatric physiotherapy can help children with a wide range of conditions improve their quality of life. If you have concerns about your child's physical development or function, speak to your healthcare provider to determine if pediatric physiotherapy may be beneficial.

Babies head shapes when to worry
Tumblr media
In more severe cases, your child's doctor may prescribe a special helmet that helps distribute pressure around your baby’s head. In such cases, head flattening typically improves through successful treatment of the torticollis. Infants with torticollis require physical therapy to stretch and straighten the neck. A starting point in treating plagiocephaly is placing your baby onto his or her side or stomach during waking hours to relieve pressure on the side or back of the head. Treatment for head shape abnormalities varies depending on the specific anomaly and its cause: Doctors may also use medical imaging such as traditional X-rays or computed tomography (CT) to make a diagnosis. Children with this condition may also have low hairlines and short or fused fingers.Ī craniofacial surgeon will obtain your child’s medical history and complete a detailed physical examination to diagnose a head shape abnormality. In addition to affecting the position of the eyes, Saethre-Chotzen syndrome may also affect the position of the nose. Children with Pfeiffer syndrome may also have crowded teeth along with thumbs and toes that appear broadened and an abnormally shaped forehead or nose. Children with Crouzon syndrome may have craniosynostosis, midface hypoplasia and mild exophthalmos. Children with Apert syndrome typically have craniosynostosis, midface hypoplasia (underdevelopment), increased intracranial pressure, exophthalmos/proptosis (bulging eyes) and syndactyly (webbed fingers or toes). Patients with this condition have craniosynostosis and associated anomalies involving the face and extremities, which can also affect the shape and placement of the eyes and development of the upper and lower jaw. Non-syndromic craniosynostosis is the most common form and is most often characterized by an isolated single suture synostosis. Craniosynostosis can be classified as non-syndromic and syndromic. If this condition is not treated, it causes pressure inside the head along with head deformity, developmental delay and, in some cases, seizures. This leads to an abnormally shaped skull. This condition is called craniosynostosis. If one of these sutures fuses too early, growth cannot continue in that area. The skull is made up of many bones that fit together like a puzzle, and the place where the bones eventually grow together is called a suture. When this happens, one area of your child's It is also possible for a tight neck muscle to cause torticollis (a persistent twist of the neck to one side). Car seats, strollers and other carriers often position babies in this way, too. This can be due to recommended safe sleeping guidelines, which promote babies lying on their backs for extended periods of time. Babies with plagiocephaly often have noticeable flatness on the back or sides of their head, and there is typically little hair in those areas. This condition is called positional plagiocephaly (skull molding) and is one of the most common forms of abnormal head shapes. Constant pressure in one area of the skull can change the skull's shape. The bones that make up a baby’s skull are thin and flexible. There are several types of head shape abnormalities. Infant PT Day at Coronaville
My husband tested positive for covid-19 Monday. We don’t know how it happened. We are unbelievably careful, since my mom has a compromised immune system and my baby had a complicated start. Ray and I won’t be getting tested unless we have to go to the hospital for some reason. We are just assuming both of us are infected. I know it’s a correct assumption on my part, I feel like complete shit.…

Hi Lil! ❤️
With Papa Hunter’s gaggle of girlies, how many of them, if any inherit his advanced senses? How does that affect them throughout their lives, like when they’re little and don’t understand what’s happening but just know they’re scared and overwhelmed. Or when they’re teenagers and are already dealing with a whirlwind of emotions and other things? So on and so forth, you get the picture haha 😂
how would Hunter deal with the ups and downs that come with having enhanced senses? I’m sure he would feel guilty but would also try to see the good in it? I’m sure Cyare would feel a bit helpless since she doesn’t experience having enhanced senses but I think her motherly instincts let her know exactly what her babies need 💕
I suppose the ask could be applied to all of the Dad Batch, but if you just want to focus on Papa Hunter that’s fine too ☺️❤️ s
Sorry for this long ask lol, I guess I had my own headcanons too!
Hello there!!!
Oh this is great, never apologize for long asks!!
Okay so this is one of the kinks I haven’t fully worked out yet BUT as a general outline here’s what I have (I will briefly mention the other Batcher’s kiddos):
Hunter:
Yes with so many girlies there is a fair percentage of them that inherit Hunter’s mutation, or a variation.
For example: Hunter’s eldest is shown to have sensory issues early on, she is quiet as a toddler because she is often overwhelmed with the world around her. Hunter understands.
I love how you also mentioned that Cyare feels helpless because she doesn’t understand what that’s like, but her motherly instincts give her an advantage in helping her ultimately understand what her baby needs.
Their third baby has augmented auditory traits. What I mean is she literally has super hearing. It definitely freaks the Uncles out at first.
And so on and so forth.
Not every single one of Hunter’s daughters inherit his enhanced traits but those that do, inherit bits and pieces as described above. Another example is one daughter is very sensitive to metals, another electronic feeds and fluorescent lights.
Wrecker:
Wrecker’s twin girls are born prematurely, so they are quite small starting out, ironically. Tiny but mighty. They have a few iron and musculoskeletal deficiencies they steadily grow out of/manage with a combination of physical and drug therapy.
Tech:
Tech’s girls do not have any defining inherited traits to speak of (other than their father’s intelligence but that is to be expected with any child of his).
Tech’s son is nonverbal and signs. He has a rare genetic condition called Lamb-Shaffer Syndrome. He does speak around 6 or 7 years of age but very sparingly. Even as his vocabulary and cognitive abilities grow he still prefers to sign through the years.
Crosshair:
My boy Asher is far-sighted and sports some cool glasses when needing to see up close. :) He was born full-term but pretty small and delicate. Also presented with a couple of vitamin deficiencies as a baby that he largely grew out of. He’s prone to muscle strains/aches; mild musculoskeletal ailments which I headcanoned Crosshair to struggle with in his youth (congenital muscular torticollis). He also has mild asthma.
Keidala only inherited her father’s mouth. XD HOWEVER (and I have discussed this in a previous post) she does develop a rare eye disease in her teenage years that causes her to gradually lose her sight. By the time she’s 16 or 17 she’s fully blind. Her Dad and Uncles have been working on special eye implants to give her some visual sensation where she’s impaired. She quickly picks up Braille and her and Crosshair bond over that because he’s well-versed in it and studied it long before was born.
So yes sorry that’s a lot but that is the basis!! It’s always a work in progress.

Physical Therapy
Amara's physical therapist will be here in a few minutes and will be determining if it's the right time to graduate her from the program. She's 13 months and has been in physical therapy since she was 4 months old. When she was born she ended up getting a flat spot on the side of her head (plageocephally) due to torticollis. Basically, one neck muscle was shorter than the other and it caused her to only use one side of her body. One arm, one hand, one leg etc. she only turned her head one way. At a certain point she didn't realize she had another side of her body. A lot of hard work went into getting her to where she is now and we are forever grateful to her physical therapist. Excited to close this chapter for good and move on. She's walking, using both hands and meeting all of her milestones.

Detail from "Co-Morbid", c.2022. Full painting coming soon. This is the face representing PNES (Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures) which is a physical manifestation of stress so bad that it actually causes convulsions/seizures. I'm guessing I developed this from the many, many times I've had to visit the ER due to adverse reactions to new antipsychotic medication (Also called Acute Dystonic Reaction or extrapyramidol symptoms) because the symptoms mimic it perfectly. From eye-rollling I can't control (oculogyric crisis), rapid blinking and eyes forced shut, jaw tremors/chattering/being forced open while my tongue is forced out. My hands and fingers turning in to fists and then fully opening again. My head being thrown back or my neck twisting (torticollis) and in extreme instances, full body convulsions. All while fully conscious. It's called "psychogenic" because whatever is at the root of unaddressed stress is emotional/mental. It's the body trying to tell you you're not OK. The main treatment for it is therapy. I was diagnosed around 2017 (years after it began) by my neurologist after EEG screening to rule out epilepsy. It's slowed down a lot over the years. But this face is its representation. Forced distended jaw and eyes rolling back. It really sucks but it is what it is. #art #PNES #psychogenicnonepilepticseizures #twitch #convulsions #seizures #nonepilepticseizures #eeg #neurology #pnesawareness #acrylicpaint #acrylicpainting #newpainting #newart #surrealism #darksurrealism #fantasyart #morbidart #morbid #comorbid #portrait #painting #darkart #darkartists #horror #terrified #face #igartist #igart #artistoninstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CZfwUVrJbVM/?utm_medium=tumblr
