The American pop rock band Train performed a parody of their song "Drive By" on Sesame Street in 2012 called "Five By." The band was very excited about this performance, saying "That appearance was so huge for us. You know you’ve made it when you’re on Sesame Street."

I don't actually remember precisely where the inspiration for this one hit me -- probably the shower. The finished product managed to get a listener to say he hated it while also admitting that I made the pairing work, which is a definite first.

Also, five new bootlegs in the past six months must be some kind of personal record... at least in the past 15 years.

I went to go see Train last night with my girlfriend and other friends. Honestly, the last time I went to a concert was in 2013 (2014?) for Bruno Mars, who is a really great live performer. So, it was nice to finally watch another show, especially with company. Some highlights from the show:

1) Blues Traveler and Jewel were the opening acts. One, I didn’t know Blues Traveler was still performing. Two, Jewel is a country/rock and roll artist now, which was surprising.

2) Train ended the show with “Drops of Jupiter”, which made sense since that was their biggest hit. But, not gonna lie, I spent most of the show going, “When are they going to play Drops of Jupiter?”

3) Pat Monahan shouted, “How you doing San Francisco!” multiple times in the show. Sir...we’re in Mountain View.

4) I never thought I’d ever see Jewel, the yodeling folk musician, cover Led Zeppelin. 

5) SPEAKING OF JEWEL! I don’t know if she was drunk or if she’s just wild as a person, but her set was a little unhinged. She trolled the security guard with her yodeling, she sang “Intuition” but changed the lyrics so that she could reference Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, and then she told the crowd that she was 48 and she could do whatever the fuck she wanted. It was really entertaining lol.

6) Blues Traveler was my favorite guest performer. He absolutely killed it with the harmonica solos.

7) I was never a huge fan of Train, but they’re fun to watch live. You can tell the guys were having a blast on stage. I will say though, their setlist was kinda random at times (ex.: they random started playing the end of “Hey Jude” by the Beatles) and they showered confetti on the crowd multiple times. Also, people were throwing their phones on stage so that Pat can take a selfie for them. While that’s a nice gesture, I don’t think I’d just willingly throw my phone at Pat.

My take on a Sonadow fankid! She actually existed for a while now, but the trend gave me motivation to finally draw her!

Most sonadow fankids are purplish and tube-grown, so I decided to make her neither!

Background for the story under cut, in case it gets long!

So in this AU, stories from the more recent games happen when Sonic and Shadow are at most around 20 years old. Back then Sonic was rambunctious and reckless as we know him to be, and Shadow was a depressed, traumatized emo kid. While at first they were rivals as depicted in the games.

Over the years tho, just like their friends, the two matured. They started getting along a lot more, and became official friends, which eventually lead to dating. They both were afraid of getting serious though, so they took things slow and casual. Due to some of their unresolved issues, they couldn't get any closer. But not for much longer.

Some of it has been brought on by a Particular Event, and some of it due to restructuring how they go about saving the world, but things changed. As Forces has shown, putting so much responsibility on One Guy isn't wise. Sonic felt so quilty for failing, but it never should've been his job alone, so they created an organization, to share the load more evenly!

The org became global, with local groups of heroes being recruited all around, meaning that now the characters we know and love now had more time to take care of their personal lives.

While for some the change hasn't been much, Sonic, and to a lesser extent, Shadow, struggled quite a lot. Many of things happened in between, but eventually both of them grew to quite enjoy the domestic life.

They moved in together, and started taking things to the next level, now that both have done some healing and therapy. They found that they get along quite great. After a bit longer, they decided to start a family :)

Shadow came up with the name. He wanted to honor his sister's memory, but Mar-Mar was also a symbol of all his progress. He did go to therapy to make sure that he can handle them sharing a name, to see if it's a good idea, and well, it was!

She's now 4 and very loved, and her dads love each other very much as well. For a certain Sonic though, things won't go so great.

we can all agree on that right? like she's a 'said she was born in the wrong generation in middle school' fleetwood mac, david bowie, the mamas & the papas, niche modern indie artists and also chappell roan kind of music listener. obviously. but.... i dont think we've really considered pete's music taste?

pete, who is a science, left-brained kind of kid, so he probably does not actively go out to look for music and is instead just provided music by the people around him?

pete whose older brother is theodore spankoffski and so his earliest and most fond and nostalgic music influences from his childhood would have come directly from ted's cd collection???

basically what im saying is peter spankoffski has the most trashy, early 00's ke$ha, black eyed peas my humps era, all american rejects ass music taste in the world

that boy had bowling for soup's 1985 memorized at age four, his guilty pleasure music is hollywood undead's everywhere i go, ted did his first decent person move in years when pete came out as trans as a kid and stopped listening to grow a pear by ke$ha and pete forcibly made him play it because it's a bop

and then his only friends are a weeb and a theatre kid.

steph gives him the aux cord on a date to be nice, as a sign of trust, and is blasted in the face with the most uncurated mess of j-pop, sondheim, weezer, and like... owl city's fireflies and that's just a fact

usually I have a really hard time doing arrangements of existing songs, but I felt unusually motivated to tackle this one and managed to see it thought to completion! (took me a while because I kept spending too much time jamming out to what I already had done instead of working on the next parts lol)
