Triple Digits (112), RiTchie (2024)
For me, Injury Reserve and By Storm’s schtick of washy, noisy, unconventionally-formed and post-punk-sampling hip-hop was threatening to get a little stale (or so it sounded on last year’s transitional single). RiTchie’s solo debut is much fresher, undeniably off-kilter but in ways that are subtler, less formulaic.
Pick: ‘Dizzy (feat. Aminè)’

A History of (Supposed) Violence: Every Jason Todd Kill, part 9
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8
Foreword: Jason Todd kills people. But has he killed as many people as fandom thinks he has? I'm starting to think the answer is a resounding no. Therefore, I am starting this series to list every single one of Jason Todd's on-page, confirmed kills, and -- to be fair -- all of the heavily-implied and attempted ones, too.
Caveat: I have not read every single comic featuring Jason Todd. But by God, by the end of this series, I will have. Do not send me angry messages telling me I have forgotten this glaring example of his murderous ways. I am moving in deliberate, exhaustive, chronological order. I will get to it.
Part 9: Batman & Robin, Issues 23-25
Jason is staying red-haired for this one. Bruce and Dick are also both Batman? It's confusing. I'm kinda grateful they made Jason red-haired, because it's that much easier to tell him apart from the others.
Anyway. Jason's locked up in Arkham Asylum, but petitions to be moved to regular prison because he passed all his psych evaluations. Now, listen -- I realize comics require a suspension of disbelief but there is no way Jason passed any psychological screenings for whatever the hell is wrong with him.
Anyway, he's now in gen pop, and a lot of criminal elements want him dead. So Jason does what Jason does best.
Give "come fuck me" eyes at a bunch of naked men in the prison shower, then proceed to kill them all one by one. I'm also counting the brother and his thirteen morons, even though that was in the past, so 20 criminals get shanked, prison-style. I will point out that each one of the convicts was trying to kill Jason at the time.
Later, we get the indication that Jason actually killed 14 people while in the slammer. He's really giving "you're locked in here with me" vibes.
Counting the one guy's brother and his thirteen morons, that's a total death count of 29 thus far. Jason's off to quite a banging sta --
Jesus Christ.
And just like that, we're in the triple digits at 111 dead. The warden, pretty reasonably, wants Jason sent back to Arkham Asylum, but en route their police convoy gets attacked by...these guys:
Jason goes along with the Menagerie, as they're called, for all of ten seconds before trying to break free. In the process, he kills one of them before their boss reveals that she has Scarlet, aka Sasha, the teenaged girl who was briefly Jason's sidekick. There's a whole adventure in which Red Hood teams up with Batman and Robin to rescue her, and Dick makes it very clear to Jason that he expects Jason to not kill anyone during this fight. Interestingly, Jason obeys. Therefore, no further death tally.
Conclusion: 112 (111 inmates in the prison and 1 would-be rescuer)

november updates

ok so i know november ended yesterday, i did think about titling this post december updates but i know december will be a whole different beast for me... just let me have this... it's been a really long time since i sat down and talked about all my recent projects and goings on!!!! so in case you missed what i've been up to, read on... :)
the free Laios/Marcille fanthology I organised is OUT!!! no tall towers to climb (https://naumin.itch.io/laimar) came out November 10th, and erm only 5 days later than scheduled... it's a big boy at 112 pages with contributions from 14 fans !! I had so much fun organising this and was really touched by the love and care ppl put into their works... fans are so powerful... it's free to download and read digitally or even print and bind your own copy (I am really excited to see your printed and bound copies if you have made them please dont hesitate to @ me...) I love books.. i love making books...
I don't have plans to organise a Volume II however I did start writing a post of my process to maybe help and encourage anyone else who'd like to start a project like this one. It got really lengthy though and I wasn't sure if it was helpful to anyone lol so when I have a minute I really gotta go and edit that thing down
also nobody asked me but the title is based on a poem by 12thc warrior poet Xin Qiji. i guess the tower reminded me of their dungeon misadventures hehe.
also did i mention it's FREE! !!!!!!!
7 months of subscribestar I've officially been making new posts on substar every single week since May ! It's been really fun tbh and I don't have plans of slowing down yet :) I really appreciate everyone who's visited and it makes a huge difference even just subscribing for 1 month or 2, just having that little extra to help out on months where I can't take as many commissions or I'm sick or away from home etc! You may have noticed I've added a tip jar tier ($2.5) for those who can't manage the $6 sketchbook tier... on principle I wanna make it lower but after fees it'd be zilch and I am kind of like if you have $2... maybe hold onto that. lol. maybe use that somewhere else. you can always make 1-time donations through substar or ko-fi (yeah, I have one...) my next projects...
Ballet Yuri Year One, the compilation book of one year of works on Ilze & Evangeline, whos 1st birthday was in September and I haven't had time to look at the files since October but I will look at them again soon-- last spot I left it, it was at least 30 pages... I think it will definitely be double that and could possibly be triple that (omg).
NERD SEX VOLUME III my annual NSFW sketchbook which traditionally comes out around January/February! I'm delusional that this one will be the simplest to put together and so it might be the next thing you see from me. It will be available for all subscribers as soon as it's ready. I also gotta remember to upload Nerd Sex I & II at the same time. for those who dont wanna subscribe, you can get 50% off Nerd Sex I & II in the meantime now :) also i forsee about 300% more lesbians in Nerd Sex III. It's the year of the dyke.
A collaborative NSFW anthology coming next year. This one has a longer production period to give everyone time to work and give me time to get organised lol. Hopefully you'll hear more about this one in the new year! It's for the boys and the ppl who love boys <3
the issues oh my god I've been having technical issues with my ipad the last month. I keep getting random lines and marks while drawing in procreate ! A lot of people said it could be my sweater or hand or case touching the screen while I draw but I don't think that is it, plus it's only started recently. It's not my pen and it's not my settings. it apparently COULD be a technical issue with my ipad model which would suck cuz I got this refurbished (from Apple still) so do i have like..... warranty? will they repair it for me :S? idk. I'll have to look into it though sooner or later cuz it's driving me bananas and slowing my output! AGH! I pray she heals on her own overnight. amen.
commissions I am NOT taking any new commissions in December (unless you are a $10 subscriber) but I am still doing the KISS YCH which also has a very cute wintery version up for this month only lol. same price! check it out if you wanna see your pookies under the mistletoe <3 would make a great present to you or someone u know...
alright that's all. thanks for reading my updates post. did anyone read this whole post besides me? thanks for being there for a while whilst i talked to myself before you presumably left and did something more fun and enriching. i love you.

Phryne Fisher's Frocks Season Comparison
Number of Outfits Per Episode
While Season 1 outmatches Season 2 with nearly a dozen more costume changes, we can see a similar trend between the two. The premieres always start with a well-dressed bang, containing the highest number of ensembles of the season. A spike occurs towards the middle (episodes 4/5), but tends to taper off near the end when the focus shifts more toward the seasonal arc. With outfits reaching triple digits in both seasons, Phryne continues to shine with both intellectual and sartorial brilliance throughout.

[#29] City on Fire! (Cast of Sweeney Todd)
It's the end of the world! Yes! / City on fire!
You know it's a big deal when the heat is breaking records in SoCal. Summers in Orange County are blistering as it is, but this week, someone must've pissed off Mother Nature—because the temperature on Trevor's phone is in the triple digits, and he thinks he might just die.
It's been steadily climbing all week, starting at 95° F on Monday, ticking up to 97° and 100° on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then rocketing to 107° on Thursday—all with 100% humidity to boot. It's September, too, which does not bode well for the planet as a whole, no matter what those cucks on Fox News say.
And Trevor and Jamie have central AC, but the poor system is working overtime to keep them cool. It wasn't built for this kind of heat, after all, even in their swanky apartment. The maintenance guys have already had to fix several of the master units on the roof, and now everyone in the building has to keep their thermostats at 90° so the condensers actually work (aka they don't get hot air blowing through their vents).
The two of them spend a lot of their time at the rink during a normal week, but they've basically been living at it these past few days, altering their workout routines to avoid the stuffy gym. The ice has to be kept at a certain temperature so it doesn't melt, and at one point, Trevor seriously considered bringing a sleeping bag and camping out in the stands.
When they're home, though, they usually fall into the same routine: take a cold shower, wear the smallest amount of layers as possible (without walking around naked), stick appendages and/or head in the freezer, lie down on the linoleum kitchen tiles, and then take another cold shower.
Things take a turn for the worse when Trevor wakes up on Friday covered in more sweat than usual. When he yanks his phone off the charger and checks the weather, he almost whimpers. 112°.
Trevor throws his phone down and peels himself out of bed. He nixed his comforter on Wednesday, but he's still gone through three sets of sheets. He changes into some fresh, light clothes and heads for the kitchen. He needs water.
His train of thought slow peters out when he sees Jamie already standing at the center island. Namely, Jamie standing shirtless. Namely, Jamie standing shirtless with sweat running down his chest and torso.
Now, don't get Trevor wrong—he's seen Jamie shirtless before. They dress and un-dress at the rink in front of each other all the time, but there's something about this sight that makes Trevor's belly go all swirly.
The early morning sun is turning his skin orange; his usually neatly-trimmed chest hair is wet and a little unruly; Jamie's wearing his cross, which he never wears during games, and it's almost sinful how good it looks dangling from his neck. Trevor imagines taking it between his teeth, sees himself licking a stripe across Jamie's pecs, nosing the trail of hair down his abdomen and coating his senses with Jamie's musky scent.
Trevor must be standing there long enough for it to be suspicious, because suddenly Jamie's clearing his throat and looking at Trevor with a confused expression.
Trevor shakes his head, like that'll dislodge all of his strange thoughts. Jamie's an attractive guy, and he's got a good body, but Trevor's never seen him in that light before. He doesn't really know what to think of it, nor does he have the capacity to make sense of it right now. He makes a bee line for the fridge.
"Scorcher today," Jamie groans. "112°, can you believe it? It broke a record from 2020."
Trevor nods, opening the fridge doors. He tries to keep his voice even. "I know. It sucks."
"I was itching to run, so I tried but..." Jamie laughs hollowly. Huskily, Trevor's brain corrects. Is he having a heat stroke right now?
"... I made it halfway down the street before I had to turn around. It's impossible."
Trevor's hands wrap around a water bottle, barely even registering Jamie's words, and he has a horrible realization: he has to turn around now.
Maybe it was a mirage; maybe Jamie really is wearing a shirt and Trevor has a fever and he's suffering intense, horny hallucinations. He almost convinces himself that the sight won't greet him a second time, but when he turns around, of course it does.
Jamie's five feet away from him now, standing with his hip popped up, in the (tiniest? tiniest) shorts Trevor has ever seen. His tongue dries up, and for once he thinks he means that literally.
It's actual work for Trevor to bring his eyes back up to Jamie's face, and oh. How did he not notice before? Jamie's hasn't shaved his face either. A five o'clock shadow darkens his features, the stubble rough above his lips and down around his chin. He can almost hear the sound it'd make against Trevor's neck...
And suddenly Trevor is very aware of his nether regions, because they are starting to take an interest. He cannot pop a boner right now. He thinks he'd actually have a heart attack and die right here in the kitchen.
He somehow finds the coordination to stumble out of the kitchen, water bottle in hand.
"Z? You good?" echoes off the walls, barely heard over the roaring in Trevor's ears.
Trevor immediately ducks into the bathroom, closing the door behind him and leaning against it. It's time for that cold shower, anyways. And if Trevor jerks off to the thought of ripping off those tiny shorts and going to town on Jamie's dick—he'll just blame the heat. And climate change.
Yeah, that sounds about right.

Excerpt from this story from the The Desert Sun:
High temperatures continue to scorch Californians across the state Friday.
Dozens of cities in Southern California reached 90 degrees and above just before 6 a.m., the National Weather Service San Diego posted on social media.
It comes amid days of excessive heat warnings plaguing regions throughout the state and at least one city breaking a heat record.
That unfortunate title goes to Indio, which reached 121 degrees on Sept. 5, beating its previous record by one degree set in 2020, according to the NWS San Diego.
The primary reason Californians have been suffering from heat is an upper-level ridge or an upper-level high-pressure system over Southern Nevada and Southern California, said Dave Munyan, a meteorologist with the NWS San Diego.
In simplified terms, these ridges allow air to collect and sink. Munyan explained that there is a relationship between pressure and temperature, and the air heats up as it compresses. Hotter weather is generally seen under these ridges, spanning multiple states.
The ridge started “really strengthening” Thursday and will continue through Friday and linger through the weekend. It has refused to weaken and move from our area, he said. It’s why people checking the weather forecasts for the week may have seen a slight uptick in their Sunday, even Monday, temperatures, Munyan said.
What is the weather right now?
High temperatures continue throughout California on Friday and through the weekend, bringing with it excessive heat warnings and other heat advisories. Here are just some of the triple-digit temperatures forecasted across the state, according to various NWS offices in California:
A portion of southwest California, including Santa Clarita, Thousand Oaks, Burbank, and East Los Angeles, is under an excessive heat warning through Monday evening, facing temperatures up to 115 degrees.
The Western San Fernando Valley remains under an excessive heat warning through Monday evening, with highs up to 118 degrees. The Inland Empire, also under an excessive heat warning through the same period, can see temperatures of 102 degrees or soar up to 114 degrees.
A portion of central California, including Bakersfield, Tulare, Merced, and Fresno, is under a heat advisory through Saturday evening. Temperatures will be between 102 and 107 degrees.
Sacramento, Redding, Stockton and other cities in the Carquinez Strait and Delta, Sacramento Valley, northern San Joaquin Valley and surrounding foothills are under a heat advisory through Friday evening and will see temperatures between 100 and 109 degrees through Friday evening.
The Coachella Valley and San Diego County deserts are also under an excessive heat warning Friday, with highs between 112 degrees and 120 degrees forecasted.

The Luxury Liner RMS Titanic Sank in the early hours of April 15, 1912 after striking an Iceberg. Illustration Janet Loehrkel/USA Today
There Are Still Secrets To Be found On Titanic. These Graphics Explore Them
— George Petras | Janet Loehrke | USA Today
It sank 112 years ago Monday, but our obsession with the RMS Titanic continues.
History's most famous ship slipped beneath the North Atlantic at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, but we continue to explore its maiden voyage, iceberg, sinking and undersea decay through a seemingly endless stream of photographs, books, documentaries and movies, and museum exhibits.
Fascination has led to tragedy. A submersible carrying five passengers to view the Titanic imploded near the wreck, killing all aboard, in June 2023.
It also has brought technological advances. In May 2023, a new type of digital scanning, using multiple images, gave us a three-dimensional view of the ship as it would look if it were lifted out of the water.
Why Are People Drawn To Titanic?
"There isn’t a simple answer," says Karen Kamuda, president of the Titanic Historical Society, which operates the Titanic Museum in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts.
Those who join the society are of "all ages and occupations, and their interests are multivariable," Kamuda says. Aside from their fascination with Titanic and its passengers and crew, their curiosity might include the sister ships Olympic and Britannic, the White Star Line, artifacts, and TV and movies.
"James Cameron’s 1997 film, 'Titanic,' opened up a brand-new interest," Kamuda says. "The internet has helped spread the story worldwide."
Here are a few things you may not know about Titanic:
Titanic Traveled Less Than 3,000 Miles

Titanic was built at the Harland & Wolff shipbuilding company in Belfast, Ireland. After outfitting and sea trials, the ship left port for her maiden voyage. From Belfast to the fatal iceberg strike, Titanic traveled about 2,555 nautical miles, or 2,940 land miles:
April 2, 1912 | 8 p.m.: Titanic leaves Belfast, sails to Southhampton, England (577 nm).
April 10, 1912 | noon: Titanic leaves Southhampton, sails to Cherbourg, France (88 nm).
April 10, 1912 | 8:10 p.m.: Titanic leaves Cherbourg, sails to Queenstown (now known as Cobh), Ireland (341 nm).
April 11, 1912 | 1:30 p.m.: Titanic leaves Queenstown for New York.
April 14, 1912 | 11:40 p.m.: Titanic strikes iceberg 1,549 nm from Queenstown.
April 15, 1912 | 2:20 a.m.: Titanic sinks about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada.
Titanic's Lifeboats Were Not Filled To Capacity

A picture of the white star triple-screw steamer the Titanic, which was launched at Belfast on the May 31, 1911 and was the largest vessel afloat at the time. 15-Ton Piece of Wreckage Recovered

A man stands in front of a piece of the Titanic's hull that sank on April 15, 1912. In spite of ocean pressure, part of the window glass remains in the port hole. Sebastien Micke/Parish Match via Getty Images
The largest piece of wreckage recovered from Titanic, above, is a 15-ton section of the hull measuring 26 feet by 12 feet. It's on display at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas
The hull section was part of the starboard side of the ship, between the third and fourth funnels. It was lifted to the surface in 1998.
Museums Keep Titanic's Memory Alive
A number of museums offer visitors a look at hundreds of objects recovered from the wreck site. Here are a few:

Thousands of Artifacts Have Been Salvaged

And if you can't get to a Titanic museum, a traveling exhibit, Titanic. The Exhibition, with 200 items, may be coming to you after it leaves New York.
Size Comparison! Titanic Was Much Smaller Than Today's Cruise Ships
The World's Largest Cruise ship is Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, which is 315 feet longer than Titanic.

i've always been confused about how birthdays work in Star Trek. Like, when you're celebrating an alien's birthday--or even a human who was not born on Earth or even in the Solar System--are you just counting earth years? We don't even use those in space, we use stardates. Or are you counting orbital periods of their homeworld? Some of those orbital periods are gonna be measured in a small handful of months, some of them maybe even days.
Vulcans live to be over 200 years old, but their world orbits 40 Eridani A, which is an K-dwarf. It has 0.4 solar luminosities. In order for Vulcan to receive the same instellation from 40 Eridani A as Earth gets from Sol, it would orbit at about sqrt0.4=0.63 au. Its orbital period would then be just shy of 7 months. So when Janeway gets Tuvok a birthday cake in that Voyager episode... was she counting Vulcan years (astronomically appropriate) or Earth years (it is, after all, a human tradition)?
youtube
Janeway says "not long before the big triple digits," so he's probably in his 90s here. Tuvok was a young man during the events of Star Trek 6, which takes place in 2293, Voy S6 takes place 2376, 83 prior. If Tuvok was just 20 years old in 2293, he'd be 103 earth years old and over 176 Vulcan years old. Maybe Vulcans count in a different base system. Memory Alpha suggests he's born 2264, making him 112 earth years old.
I suppose we could make sense of this if Vulcan has a longer orbital period than Earth. Maybe it's still habitable because of all the volcanic heat?
What about an alien from a planet around a red dwarf star? They might have a birthday every couple weeks, which is hardly worth celebrating. What about people from the Moon, or Benzar-B93, or Andoria? Do you measure their birthday in terms of their parent planet's orbit about the star as usual, or do you measure their birthday in terms of orbits about their parent planet?
My starfleet slimegirl character, Eaurp Guz, was born on a coorbital planet in a horseshoe orbit wrt a gas giant. How the hell do you calculate her birthday? Some years are substantially longer than others!
Either way. To whomever or whatever views this post, from whatever world: With whatever periodicity you celebrate it, for your next birthday, my wishes are as follows.

Day 3,991: Changes
It was a hot one today. This heatwave isn’t quite as bad as the last one, though. We’re triple digits, but just barely, as opposed to the two weeks in earlier that were pushing 112 on some days. That makes quite the difference for our AC, which literally couldn’t keep up. Today, it could. It would actually turn off for brief spells rather than run constantly, and actually got us down to temp. So,…

Nearly 30 million people across the West are under heat alerts as dangerous, record-breaking temperatures scorch the region.
The heat wave has made life miserable across the Northwest, California, Nevada, and Arizona, and this trend is expected to continue for at least the next several days.
See more:

Tens of millions across the western U.S. are enduring dangerous, triple-digit temperatures in what has become one of the hottest starts to summer on record. The heat wave has made life miserable in the Northwest, California, Nevada, and Arizona, with no relief in sight for at least the next several days.
Excessive Heat Warnings have been issued across western Washington state, northern Idaho, and western Oregon. Farther south, portions of Central and Southern California, as well as the Las Vegas area in southern Nevada, are also under Excessive Heat Warnings.
Weather Forecast For 08109 - Merchantville NJ:
In western Washington, these warnings will remain in effect through at least Monday night as temperatures soar between 100 and 110 degrees, affecting the entire region.
"Dangerously hot conditions are expected," the National Weather Service office in Las Vegas reported. "Temperatures in the Colorado River Valley and around Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, and Lake Havasu will range from 112 to 118."
These extreme temperatures will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heatstroke and heat exhaustion. Those sensitive to heat should take precautions to stay safe and healthy.
Seattle is not under a heat alert, with high temperatures expected to stay in the lower 80s on Sunday and drop into the 70s on Monday and Tuesday.
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 45245-Cincinnati-OH:

Boise, Idaho, however, will be sweltering, with highs possibly reaching 107 degrees on Sunday and remaining above 100 degrees for the next few days.
Sacramento, California, will also experience a stretch of triple-digit temperatures, while Los Angeles should stay in the upper 70s.
Las Vegas has a forecast high of 112 degrees on Sunday, with temperatures around 100 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
Cities across the West are expected to approach or break record-high temperatures on Sunday and Monday.
Las Vegas may come close to its record of 113 degrees, set on this date last year.
Spokane, Washington, could shatter its old record of 103 degrees set in 1905, with a forecast high of 107 degrees on Sunday.
