Using SAM TTS and ngl its kinda fun typing a sentence, hearing that SAM pronounces a word wrong, and then trying to figure out what combination of letters will result in SAM actually saying your words correctly

I can't stop imagining the alternate timeline where the EU did to Facebook what the US tried to do to TikTok. "Meta has to share its full proprietary software with our government, or sell to a European company" lmao can you imagine

Like EU and some others did some regulations on privacy and social media. As they should have, and as we should have here. And Zuck is still crying about it, as he should be. Notably, neither FB nor TT is banned in the EU, and while ByteDance hasn't made much noise about complying over there, Zuck is crying to drumpf to pressure the EU to lay off.

But anyways we can't do any of that here. Why?

Because any privacy regulations or social media regulations will affect our own data-farms. Because those data-farms are important to our government. Because Meta and Shitter freely share that data with our government.

The problem was never 'companies shouldn't have your data' because the US government is fully in favor of companies stealing and profiting from that data. We do it constantly!! Around the globe!! That is literally what Meta DOES.

The problem is our government isn't the one profiting, and that's what's not allowed.

Hello any technologically inclined mutual. My computer mutual. What do I do if a game says I need to update my graphics drivers but Windows doesn’t offer any updates. Game opens and plays on Home Screen for a bit, then crashes and says the driver needs an update. worried I may have asked computer to bite off more than it can chew but I’m not enough of a computerhead for this

big pet peeve when like. someone gives an informational post about vocaloid and vocalsynths in general and its starting to become rather clear they dont know anything about vocaloid beyond miku and maybe the kagamines

I've been thinking about this a lot lately and wanted to add some stuff that I've learned since accessibility became my job.

All of the above is true, but only if you want to bring attention to the image in question. If a post is just about art, then being descriptive is perfect. But, if a post is more about other things and the image is just supplementary, it's better to be short and to the point with IDs.

This is mostly applicable in situations where images are more for background and filler, like on digital brochures and websites and stuff, but it can also apply to social media posts as well, depending on the context of the post.

If you would want/expect people to take a moment to actually look at the image, then please be descriptive. But if you'd want/expect them to glance at it and pass, then give it a description to match.

yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad
