Ancient ‘Cancer-Treating’ Magical Amulet Found in Turkey

An intriguing artifact believed to have been used against cancer has been unearthed in the ancient city of Pisidia Antioch, located in the southwestern province of Isparta.

The artifact, described as an amulet featuring a crab motif and inscriptions wishing for healing, is thought to date back to the Hellenistic period. It was discovered during excavations on Aedilicus Hill near the site’s church.

Archaeologists have hailed it as one of the most remarkable and well-preserved artifacts uncovered in the area.

Initial studies suggest that the amulet sheds light on ancient beliefs surrounding cancer and its treatment methods.

One side of the amulet is a depiction of a crab, while the reverse bears inscriptions expressing wishes for recovery. This imagery aligns with the ancient Greek term for cancer, ��karkinos,” meaning crab.

The term originated from the renowned physician Galen, who likened the appearance of blood vessels around cancerous tumors to a crab’s legs.

Researchers note that such amulets, crafted from a precious gemstone known as “gemma,” were commonly used from the Hellenistic era to the fourth century AD.

They are thought to have originated in Egypt, Anatolia and Mesopotamia.

The amulet predates the church at the site is and believed to have been used by various individuals over many centuries.

Further analysis of the artifact is underway, with researchers confident that the findings will contribute significantly to the field of archeology and deepen our understanding of ancient health practices.

i need to know what ur favorite romi ships are. i remember like 10 years ago or so when i first got into hetalia nedro was pretty popular with the romanian side of the fandom

hmm nedro... it is probably because the NL is looked up to for romanians and moving there to work or study is quite respectable. but ahh i can't see them as romantic... ned doesn't give me the impression that he'd like ro💔 he's no nonsense and ro is quite nonsense. i thinkabaut them sometimes when im in the netherlands... so i do have more thoughts on possible relations between them if u like them👨‍🔬

as to what i like *kicks feet* youuu already know rusrom. of course. sorry. it probably pulled me in because of how much i like them as individual characters already and everything else built itself.

i also like a kind of lietrom... frenemies with begrudging comfort. liet tries to keep him out of trouble but it just gets them both in it. sometimes they share a bed backs to eachother. ro just wants his ears petted and liet is weirded out.

what else is there? romania could fumble poland in the right circumstances. he isn't much of a romance character... the scenarios in which i "ship" him with a character either Are or Begin with traumatic events🤦‍♂️ he has a lot more friends and a bunch more frenemies otherwise he's a funny guy...

It's important to note that 99% of the time my guy is just. A normal adventurer. They're not even actually evil most of the time- they want to do the right thing! Be a hero! Be nice to people! But every now and again very occasionally they'll turn into a devious little muahahah mustache twirling villain serial killer for no goddamn reason and it makes me laugh so much
