Last night i dreampt hs bc updated with a new species called nymphs, jade was “becoming self actualized” (direct quote from dream but idk what it meant) and several new characters were introduced as comander karkat’s comrades, including a male tyrian

kind of strange that they gave karkat a dysphoria arc that like. by all rights should have been a gender arc but just. wasn’t?

like ok due to shenanigans karkat goes into his adult molt with a bunch of tyrian blood in his system so he wakes up and he’s basically a fishtroll/heiress w gills and ear fins and there is a plot point about how karkat feels extremely detached from his new body, he’s uncomfortable w the gills he doesn’t look like his imagined self he feels like he’s had this identity foisted on him, he wants to get plastic surgery to alter his ears so that he doesn’t instantly read as a fishtroll to people

but they also establish repeatedly that heiresses are always female and everybody immediately recognizes him as an heiress implying that like. essentially he’s developed secondary sex characteristics as part of the molt that other trolls instantly read as female

and this is only furthered by the fact that every fishtroll except for eridan (who dies immediately basically) is female AND dirk, who is a man, has altered himself to have artificial gills (so he can be w roxy) and many other people in the narrative consider this a kind of unnatural mutilation. so like to summarize: all the fishtrolls are women and karkat goes through puberty (essentially) and develops in a way that makes people instantly read him as a woman and this makes him deeply physically uncomfortable to the point that he considers plastic surgery to remove visible markers that make people assume this. but for some!!! reason!! this is never ever presented as a gender thing and is always 100% attributed to caste and blood politics. also karkat is like one of the most gender characters how can you give him a gender arc and not give him a gender arc

You know about homestuck? Man I don't wanna sound demanding but I would really to know what you think of a EGS/HS crossover. Because I really like the idea, either the EGS cast dealing with sburb and troll bullshit or the HS cast dealing with magic. Of course if you don't have any that's fine.

I was there DAY ONE. I got into Hussie's stuff vis-a-vis Team Special Olympics and And It Don't Stop, I was reading Problem Sleuth live through the last 500 or so pages, and I was STOKED to see Homestuck start. BUT YEAH I have extensive EGStuck thoughts. FIC IDEAS POST-BREAK.

So I have two ideas, one leaning EGS flavor, the other leaning more Homestuck flavor. The first is THE UNIVERSITY.

Sburbless. The game constructs (IE Sylladexes, Strife Specibi) are a kind of magitek, same as the TF gun. The EGS crew and the kids knew each other via the internet through their formative years (Rose was Ashley's internet girlfriend), and arranged to go to college together at ANDREW HUSSIE UNIVERSITY (home of the Fightin' Weasels!). The trolls landed the year before, refugees of a broken empire that was in its death throes... oh, and they used the same magic. Publicly. Though some forms of transformation (EG bloodcaste alteration) were punishable by death before. The Uryuoms (who ARE interdimensional space aliens, same as the Alternians) had tangential contact with them and were able to sort of guide first contact so it didn't end in immediate war (and the Uryuoms come out of concealment at that point).

The story is mostly a slice of abnormal-life, with Tedd's magic lab trying to get to the core of what makes magic tick, Rose writing treatises on troll culture and how it's adapting to earth, and Karkat inadvertently (or possibly deliberately?!) flirting pitch with Justin (spoiler: they do, and it's messy and weird and awesome).

Other loose ideas for this setting:

Vriska is WAY more comfortable with human culture than troll culture after a very small amount of time. She's part of a small and vocal "fuck Alternia, we're earthling trolls now" movement.

Grace's origin is almost unchanged, BUT they used troll genetics for some of her brothers. Damien had tyrian-based mind control abilities that he used to make the researchers submit to his will.

Terezi decides she's going to be Sarah's friend five seconds after she meets her when Sarah slings Dresden-level snark back at her.

Sarah, meanwhile, is part of a WEBCOMIC CLUB... that only has her and Dave in it. She does The Wizard Sarah. Dave does Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff. The club does very little.

Elliot and Nanase take over the college STRIFE! club. They need to get a prof to be the official head of the club... and Tensaided isn't doing anything...

The JUST/HEROIC rule applies... to any fight with strife specibi involved. Hence why there's a STRIFE! club. You can't die in a college club sparring session. That would never be heroic, and if it's just you must be an INCREDIBLE piece of shit.

Vriska steers clear of the club. She knows what she's done.

No god tiers.

Idea two is a lot less... structured right now. Basically, the EGS crew sit down to play a game at the same time as Egbert and company. Things change dramatically from the Homestuck we know.

Tedd - who is really good at speedrunning - manages to save the Earth by functionally captchaloguing the entire planet before more than a few meteors hit. It's safe in his sylladex the entire story.

Ellen is Elliot's alchemized ecto-clone. It shouldn't have happened. It did. She's irritated about that, but... y'know... EXISTENCE, can't be too pissy.

TF happens via alchemization. There is a LOT of human alchemization in this timeline.

John and Tedd are the heads of the "Totally Cisgendered 100% Men Yup Totally Club Also This Isn't A Club". This goes about as well as you can expect, with John becoming June less than halfway through the story and Tedd realizing their genderfluidity.

Grace is TECHNICALLY Gracesprite^2, but ain't no one gonna remember that. She's Tedd and Sarah's sprites.

The looming threats in the background - Lord English and Lord Tedd - obliterate each other before they can become more than lore and signal noise.

Can you wear wigs in water? is there a brand of wig gel you could recommend? lastly is there any way to make body paint waterproof? thank you!!

Hey there! So, I have worn wigs in water before, but not with heavy styling. I tend to go for a more relaxed/soft vibe with my wigs anyways, so as long as you’re not rlly worried about your fancy styling getting messed up, wigs underwater are definitely fine! Honestly I think styled wigs would probably hold up fine in water, too. Wigs can often withstand a lot more shit than you expect. The only thing I would be wary of is tangling if you have a really long wig. I haven’t worn a long wig in a million years so I’m not the best person to give advice about that, but you may want to be prepared with a brush afterwards!

Got2b glued spiking glue is admittedly the only wig styling product I Ever use but I would highly recommend it! Any kind of spiking glue should work totally fine, or just hairspray. Regular hair gel doesn’t work on wig fibers tho. 

Alright here’s my two cents on waterproof body paint. PAX paint is probably the route you want to go down. Here is a nice post written by someone who is not me and who actually knows shit about PAX!!! I’ve only used it like twice, both times it was very very effective but a bitch to get off. Making it perfect for water! However, as you will read in the post I linked, PAX does not go on your face. My preferred paint is ben nye, which you can read about in my FAQ, and I would recommend using that for face makeup! If you plan on getting your face all the way in the water, honestly if you powder and spray yourself to death you’ll probably be fine!!! Like wigs, paint can sometimes withstand more shit than you expect. When it’s all sealed up, really the only way to get it off is by a combination of hard rubbing and water & soap, so just being submerged in water won’t take it off if there’s no friction to rub at it.

Can I request tyrian sollux hcs? Preferably with a close friendship with gamzee?

Sollux was going to die and he knew it. He was just another failed heir in a long line of them. Another dead usurper to fall at his ancestor's feet. He could practically hear his last words in his head already. Why bother trying?

Because of this, Sollux rarely ever found much reason to leave his hive. Instead, he's content to lay around his palace all day playing video games, complaining about every little thing he doesn't like to his drones. He's vaguely aware that his bitter comments are dictating Alternia's video game industry, but he doesn't really care.

Karkat first comes to his attention when a drone informs him of some loud mouth who left a scathing review on one of his favorite games. Sollux's first thought was "this guy would be fun to fuck with" and a beautiful online friendship blossomed from there.

Eventually, Karkat decided to introduce Sollux to Gamzee. Karkat predicted that Gamzee would annoy the shit out of Sollux. He was right.

At first, Sollux didn't give him much thought. Gamzee was just the guy who inexplicably appeared in his hive occasionally and whom Sollux couldn't bother to kick out.

"Gamzee how the fuck did you get in my fridge?" "Motherfucking miracles."

This annoyance gradually turns into concern when Sollux realizes Gamzee has no survival instinct whatsoever. He presses on it on occasion... and eventually learns Gamzee has no lusus.

The realization that Gamzee will probably die upon ascending just like he will hits him like a ton of bricks. Like, holy shit, they were both screwed over by the system weren't they? Shit, man.

Sollux has no idea why he does it. He knows it's pointless. Knows Gamzee will likely die anyways and that getting attached to a dead troll us stupid, but he tries to help. He sends Gamzee healthier food, plays games with him, sends cleaners to fix up his hive.

It isn't until Gamzee starts growing big and strong like a proper highblood that he begins to return the favor. He shows up at Sollux's hive with training equipment, actually knocks on the door for once.

"Shit, motherfucker, we've got a lotta training to do if you're gonna live to ascension. You could be the next Emperor, you know?"

For the first time in his life, Sollux thinks "Shit, maybe I could..."
