The Manhattan Institute’s Jessica Riedl set her sights on congressional Republicans on Tuesday, accusing them of promoting “fake” budget savings and pushing what she called the most expensive legislation in decades.
In a series of fiery posts on X, Riedl, a prominent fiscal conservative, tore apart GOP claims that their latest tax package is fiscally responsible, citing new estimates that show the bill would add $6.2 trillion to the national debt – “$5.3 trillion in ten-year tax cuts plus $900 billion more in debt interest.”
“This would be (by far) the most expensive legislation since the 1960s,” she wrote as she shared data from Marc Goldwein, the senior vice president and senior policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
“Ignore the $3.9 trillion ‘official’ score,” that she says omits interest costs and “relies on fake expiration dates to make the bill seem less expensive."

To those of us who still hold reverence to the Constitution of the United States, to those of us who still believe in the rule of law, and that in this country we have no kings, the judiciary is real and accountability is key for a civil society, things can seem bleak.
Of late there has been one man in particular who skirts any accountability, whether him personally taking responsibility for his words and actions, or under the law, with his stall tactics, unethical lawyers, and stacking the odds in his favor.
It’s important to remember that the power resides in us, we the people.
I’m decades too young to have been there for the civil rights movement, and all the struggle, pain and hardship that those fighting for their freedom endured. Yet I enjoy reading and learning about the history of our country, to better understand the present.
Think of how disheartening it must have been at times. When sitting congressmen, local and state officials, law enforcement, your fellow citizens were against you, they didn’t believe you were worthy of the same rights as them, that you were somehow less than them. Yet they never gave up. They kept up the pressure, they kept up the fight, they insisted upon their cause.
This moment doesn’t compare, as most moments don’t in one way or another. Each generation has its own battles to fight, principles it stands for, causes it must defend.
Today we stand on a precipice of autocracy, our founding documents ever closer to losing relevance, our rights slowly being eroded. But we can do this. We are strong. We are intelligent. We are many.
Don’t let the loudest voices in the room drown out the whispers of hope. For those obnoxious loudmouths are only that extreme because they don’t have the numbers we do. Their volume and absurdity is to mask the fear they have of losing in this moment.
In my heart of hearts I know that there are more good and decent people than there are bigots and fascists. That the true patriots of this country, who believe in the Constitution, who believe in equality, who believe in freedom, in liberty, in America are the overwhelming majority.
So don’t get down. Know you aren’t alone. That if we don’t give up, we will win. Justice will prevail. Freedom will overpower tyranny. Love will conquer hate.
Below is a letter I wrote to my Senators and Representative. You are only allowed X amount of characters so I had to kinda squeeze a lot into a finite amount of space. Write your representatives, let them know what you think. Or copy and paste this. The more pressure they feel, the more likely they are to do something that’s moral and adheres to the true American values.
Dear Congressional representative. What line needs to be crossed in order for you to uphold your oath and defend the Constitution of the United States? It doesn’t seem to be clear violations of the 14th amendment section 3. Or the rescinding of the 14th amendment section 1. For all the bluster on 1st amendment protections your claims fall short when universities are being dictated as to what they can and can’t teach, or what can or can’t be protested against. Don’t get me wrong, I find the pro-Hamas protests despicable, but under the first amendment (if it still means anything) they have the right to do it. Your so called 1st amendment absolutism falls short when pushing for publicly funded religious schools (although I have not directly heard you call for such lately). The assault on any press organizations that would dare report on this administrations questionable doings is a blatant affront on the 1st amendment, you have neglected to protect that. What about your silence, or defense for the disregard when it comes to the 4th-8th amendments? You have been complicit in the utter corruption being perpetrated in contrast to Article 1, section 9, clause 8. That being the luxury jet, the crypto scheme, the publicly traded DJT stock, the trump towers all across the globe, Trump golf courses, bringing the PGA to the White House, holding White House receptions for the largest holders of Trump’s meme coin. The list could go on. You have abandoned your power of the purse so obviously granted under Article 1 of the Constitution. Why? One man should not be allowed to destabilize our economy, and the world economy, while enriching himself, his family and his cronies on a whim. So ask again. When are you planning on serving your constituents, protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States, and simply supporting America? These actions are not without consequences. For Trump, for his associates, and for you. This is a democratic representative constitutional republic, not a monarchy or an autocratic dictatorship. We would all appreciate proper representation through you. We would all appreciated adherence to the Constitution. We would all appreciate the following of the law. If that means articles of impeachment, so be it. We do not have kings in America. Period. Full stop. Show your allegiance to this country, its principled documents, and its people. Thank you.

Here's your daily reminder to click for Palestine!!!
U.S. residents, take 5 minutes and use this link to pressure your members of Congress to stop sending weapons to the Israeli military!!
(Letter variants you can copy/paste under the cut!!)
Original letter written by Jewish Voice for Peace:
I am writing as your constituent to ask that you do everything in your power to press the Biden administration to suspend all weapons shipments to the Israeli military, and oppose all future military funding to Israel. The Israeli government has vowed to push forward with a large-scale military operation in Rafah, even though President Biden has repeatedly said such an operation would be a "red line." On May 7, the Israeli military seized the Rafah border crossing, a crucial passage for humanitarian aid, and ordered 100,000 Palestinians in eastern Rafah to evacuate. The 1.3 million displaced Palestinians sheltering in Rafah will have nowhere to flee should a full invasion commence. Millions of Palestinian lives now hang in the balance. I urge you to do everything in your power to stop this unfolding catastrophe before it's too late. Thank you.
Slight variations I created (so that emails don't get marked as spam for being identical to each other)
Variation 1:
I'm writing to you as your constituent to ask you to do everything you can to pressure the Biden administration into suspending all weapons shipments to the Israeli military and opposing any and all future military funding to Israel! The Israeli government is pushing forward with a large-scale military operation in Rafah. President Biden has repeatedly said such an operation would be a "red line," yet his administration is still supporting this operation. On May 7th 2024, the Israeli military seized the Rafah border crossing, a crucial passage for humanitarian aid, and forced 100,000 Palestinians in eastern Rafah to abandon their homes. 1.3 million Palestinians have been displaced. Those sheltering in Rafah have nowhere to flee during a full invasion. Millions of Palestinian lives now hang in the balance. Their fate lies in the hands on Congress, in your hands. I urge you to do everything in your power to stop this unfolding catastrophe before it's too late. Thank you.
Variation 2:
I'm writing you today to ask that you do everything in your power to convince the Biden administration to stop funding Israel. We have to telk them to stop all shipments of weapons to the Israeli military and oppose all future military funding to Israel. The Israeli government has vowed to push forward with a large-scale military operation in Rafah... President Biden made it clear that such an operation would be a "red line," and yet he continues to fund them. On May 7th of this year, the Israeli military seized the Rafah border crossing, a crucial passage for humanitarian aid, and forced 100,000 Palestinians to flee their own home of Eastern Rafah. Should a full invasion commence, 1.3 million displaced Palestinians sheltering in Rafah will have nowhere safe to go. Millions of Palestinian lives now hang in the balance. I am begging you now, as your constituent, to do everything in your power to stop this unfolding catastrophe before it's too late... Thank you

UPDATE ON THE TAKEDOWN ACT 4/7/2025
I have been informed that the House is going to have a committee hearing (energy and commerce committee) on the Take It Down Act. This is a bill that Trump has pushed hard to get passed so that he can abuse it and use it to take down social media posts criticizing him. Its another mass censorship tool disguised as "protecting kids".
Fight for the Future has provided both an explanation for why this bill is extremely dangerous, as well as a call script and direct link to your lawmakers! They couldnt make it easier. Its here:
Here is a link to the committee members. It is a full committee hearing.
This is the number for energy and commerce (202) 225-3641 please call their secretary and tell them to spread the message to say no if your rep isn’t on the committee
If you’re not American tell your American friends to call that number

An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Vote NO on the SAVE Act!
8,228 so far! Help us get to 10,000 signers!
I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 22, the so-called “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility” (SAVE) Act. While this bill is framed as a measure to combat voter fraud, it is, in reality, a voter suppression effort that creates unnecessary barriers to voting and disenfranchises millions of Americans.
The SAVE Act would require voters to present narrow forms of “documentary proof of citizenship,” such as a passport or birth certificate, to participate in federal elections. This would disproportionately harm:
- Up to 150 million Americans who do not have a passport.
- Approximately 69 million women citizens who do not have a birth certificate with their current legal name on it.
- Elderly Americans, who are the least likely to hold passports.
Additionally, in 7 states, less than one-third of citizens have a valid passport – Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
The SAVE Act is a solution in search of a problem. Worse, it would erode the fundamental right to vote, silencing the voices of vulnerable communities under the guise of election security. Rather than advancing harmful legislation like the SAVE Act, Congress should focus on protecting and expanding voting rights by supporting measures such as the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
One of the foundational values of our democracy is the idea that every person is entitled to a vote – a say in the direction of our nation. I urge you and your colleagues to work towards that founding ideal. Thanks.

A small boy asks his Dad, "Daddy, what is politics?"
Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the breadwinner of the family, so let's call me Capitalism.
Your mom, she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the Government.
We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the People.
The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future.
Now, think about that and see if that makes sense." So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. The little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father having sex with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed.
The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now." The father says, "Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about." The little boy replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in Deep Shit."

I wonder how many maga realize that their whole movement is funded and executed through the Kremlin, a revenge operation against America for its betrayal after WWII and the economic devastation caused by the United States during, and until the end of the Cold War?
Beyond the Muller Report, beyond congressional investigations, the Russian ties are undeniable. It was a year ago that the FBI and DOJ had identified that Russia Today (RT) had funneled over $10 million to right wing media outlets, including Tim Pool, Dave Ruben, and Benny Johnson, to push Russian talking points and propaganda, all meant to misinform, divide and weaken American society.
Not everything is coincidence. Not everything is fake news. Not everything is a conspiracy. There are real threats that this country faces, from real enemies with large grudges against us.
I would sincerely hope, although the consequences are the same and the reasoning isn’t much better, that maga is simply blind to these attacks upon our nation, not active participants in it. Silence is compliance, allowing a foreign enemy to engage in psychological warfare, and broadcasting their propaganda is treason.
It was Russian premier Nikita Khrushchev who said, “We will take America without firing a single shot. We will bury you. We do not need to invade the United States, we will destroy you from within.” This threat is coming to fruition, ever closer daily.
One of two things is possible here. Either maga is unaware that this invasion is occurring, that what they are being fed through the media they consume is directed by Russian intelligence to undermine the citizens and governance of the United States, or maga is aware and engaging in sedition against America.
Which one is it maga? Do you actively support the crumbling of our country and all the rights and privileges it has provided you at the hands of the totalitarian Soviet regime? Or do you stand with the Constitution and plan on defending your country?
It is not your countrymen who are your enemy. It is not liberals who pose the threat to democracy. It is not Democrats who seek to void the freedoms granted in our Constitution.
At this moment, it seems to be you

So, telehealth coverage is set to end March 31, 2025
This means trump and the gop right now have the option to end telehealth coverage starting April 1st
No news organization is writing about this.
Representative Ro Khanna seems to be the only one to sound the alarm.

"The contempt of that large-minded gentleman is so wilting, his haughty disdain, his grandiloquent swell, his majestic, supereminent, turkey-gobbler strut has been so crushing to myself and all the members of the House...The resemblance is great. It is striking. Hyperion to a satyr, Thersites to Hercules, mud to marble, dunghill to diamond, a singed cat to a Bengal tiger, a whining puppy to a roaring lion."
-- James G. Blaine, eviscerating fellow Congressman Roscoe Conkling, during a speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, April 30, 1866.
The feud between Blaine and Conkling -- who each had close connections with various post-Civil War Republican Presidents -- is one of the great political rivalries of American history. Blaine's eloquent (and vicious) attack of Conkling and mention of Conkling's "turkey-gobbler strut" would result in classic caricatures of Conkling in political cartoons that would annoy him for the rest of his life:
