Die Schlacht von Finow

 „Die Schlacht von Finow“ ist ein Vorfall der sich im Frühjahr 1944 in der nähe der deutschen Stadt Finow zugetragen hat.

Die offiziellen Quellen sprechen hier von einem Vorfall wo 247 Soldaten der sowjetischen Arme von der deutschen Wehrmacht ausgelöscht worden sind. Dies ist jedoch nicht das wahre Geschehen, den in Wirklichkeit haben sich die Soldaten gegenseitig unter dem Einfluss des Gases Midnight Oil gegenseitig getötet. Dieses Gas wurde von Stark Industries unter der Leitung von Howard Stark selbst entwickelt und trotz der schon bei der Entwicklung bekanntgewordenen Effekte eingesetzt. Ursprünglich sollte es dazu dienen, die Soldaten im Kampf länger Wach und Vital zu halten.

Background Während des II. Weltkrieges war der Industrielle Howard Stark von der U.S. Army angesprochen worden, Waffen gegen die Feinde Amerikas zu entwicklen. Darunter war die Anforderung, ein Gas zu entwicklen welches die eigenen Soldaten für Tage Wach halten könne. Das daraus entstandene Produkt war das Midnight Oil, welches jedoch verheerende Nebenwirkungen aufwies. Wie Schlaflosigkeit, Pardonia, Wutausbrüche und Halluzinationen. Howard Stark wollte daraufhin das Midnight Oil nicht an die U.S. Army ausliefern, jedoch hatte Starks Auftraggeber, Gen. John McGinnis andere Pläne.

Massacker

Im Winter/Frühjahr des Jahres 1944 überfallen Soldaten von Gen. McGinnis die Laboratorien von Stark industries und entwenden das Midnight Oil und alle damit verbundenen Unterlagen und Forschungsergebnisse. Sie brachten es an die europäische Front um es dort mit Flugzeugen der U.S. Air Force über den eigenen Truppen und Truppen der Verbündeten freizusetzen. Sie begann es über der sowjetischen Arme nahe der deutschen Stadt Finow auszustoßen um dafür zu sorgen das die Soldaten die verteidigende deutsche Wehrmacht über rent. 

Jedoch hatte das Gas die von Howard Stark vorhergesehen Nebenwirkungen und schon kurz nach der Freisetzung begannen die sowjetischen Soldaten sich gegenseitig anzugreifen. Wie Tiere, oder Zombies fielen die Soldaten übereinander her, beißen sich gegenseitig zu Tode, schlagen aufeinander ein, nutzen jede Möglichkeit um das gegenüber unschädlich zu machen. Am Ende war das Schlachtfeld überseht mit dutzenden teils skalpierter Körper. Nur einige wenige konnten sich entweder frühzeitig retten oder überlebten das Massaker, bezahlten dafür aber auch teilweiße einen hohen Preis, und verloren zum Beispiel die Fähigkeit zu Sprechen. Darunter war ein sowjetischer Medizinoffizier, Johann Fennhoff, der durch das schnelle aufsetzten einer Gasmaske sowohl das Massaker überlebte, als auch keinerlei Nebenwirkungen davon trägt. Dabei konnte er jedoch nicht verhindern, das sein Bruder der ebenfalls teil der Streitkraft war, dem Massakter seiner Kammeraden zum Opfer fiel und nicht überlebte. Woraufhin Johann Fennhoff den Erfinder des Gases, Howard Stark, persönlich verantwortlich machte.

Nachwirkungen

Nach dem Massaker untersucht eine Gruppe Soldaten der deutschen Wehrmacht, angeführt von Colonel Ernst Müller das Schlachtfeld. Einen Tag später erreichte Howard Stark ebenfalls das Gebiet und sah die schrecklichen Auswirkungen seiner Erfindung. Jedoch versucht Gen. McGinnis alles in seiner Macht stehende um das hier geschehen und seine Beteiligung daran zu vertuschen. Die wenigen überlebenden der Schlacht, darunter Leet Brannis, Sascha Demidov und Johann Fennhoff wurden von der sowjetische Armee gerettet und von der Spionascheabteilung Leviathan rekrutiert. 

Fennhoff selbst beginnt seinen persönlichen Rachefeldzug gegen Howard Stark wegen dem tot seines Bruders.

Trivia Johann Fennhoff tritt während seines Rachefeldzuges als Dr. Ivchenko auf. Als dieser hypnotisiert er verschiedene Personen unter anderem Howard Stark. Es könnte möglich sein, das seine besondre Begabung etwas mit dem Midnight Oil zutun hat.

In den Comic Heften zählt Dr. Johann Fennhoff, geboren in Wien (Österreich) besondere Fähigkeit zu einer psychischen Manipulation von Menschen welche bewirkt dass sie sich gegenseitig töten wollen. hier können viele Parallelen zu Midnight Oil hergestellt werden.

Dr. Fennhoff nimmt später einen Alias Namen an und tritt als Dr. Faustus auf. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wird eine Methode zur Gehirnwäsche bei der Geheimorganisation HYDRA als „Faustus“ bezeichnet. Diese Technik soll die Gefangenen dazu bringen, HYDRA ewige Treue zu schwören und sie deren Anweisungen folge zu leisten. Dies ähnelt sehr der Hypnose die Johann Fennhoff bei seinen Opfern anwendet - wiederum die Verbindung zur Comic-Vorlage dieses Charakters. Als Soldat der sowjetischen Armee liest Dr. Fennhoof den Roman „The Tragic Life of Doctor Faustus“ - ursprünglich auch „The Tragicall History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus“ von Christopher Marlowe.

Auch die Comic-Vorlage verwendet des öfteren ein hallizinugens Gas.
