RIP #PamelaChopra 🙏🏻
She was the wife of the renowned filmmaker #YashChopra and had authored the screenplay of Dil To Pagal Hai and the story of Kabhi Kabhie. Pamela Chopra possessed a strong passion for music and her husband, Yash Chopra, always made sure to include her in the music sittings of his films.
In her appearance on The Romantics, Pamela had expressed her passion for music and how Yash invited her to attend the music sittings, gradually making her a part of the group.
According to her son #UdayChopra comments in the docu-series, "My mother had a really good sense of music and song. We have this gadda room in our house, the music room, which was specifically created for a creatively inducive environment".
Pamela Chopra also lent her voice to several songs for Yash Chopra's movies such as 'Kabhi Kabhie' and 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!' (2002).
Moreover, Pamela Chopra made a brief appearance on the big screen alongside her husband in the opening song 'Ek Duje Ke Vaaste' from 'Dil To Pagal Hai'.

Uday Chopra To Tusshar Kapoor, 5 Starkids Who Couldn’t Make It Big In Bollywood
Uday Raj Chopra made his acting debut with Mohabbatein. Despite belonging to film families, these actors failed to create a lasting impact among cinegoers. Bollywood is being questioned and criticised for nepotism. Despite all this, there are many star kids in the industry who have achieved stardom due to their talent and personality. Star kids like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan…

A guilty pleasure of sorts (I mean, lets be honest - many people would argue that any Uday Chopra movie that you don't outright hate - aside from maybe Dhoom - is nothing more than a guilty pleasure). I've enjoyed this movie since the first time I saw it - the reuniting of the Mohabbatein duo (Jimmy Sheirgill/Uday Chopra) plus the guest appearance of another Mohabbatein 'star' (Shamita Shetty), alongside Sanjana (aka Tulip Joshi) and Bipasha Basu ... what a random starcast, looking back at it now.
But, at the time, it resulted in a lot of fun, some entertaining songs, the typical rom/com romantic drama story of man in love with girl who is due to marry someone else - but in this case, both of our mains are complete oafs and don't realize the feelings they have for each other. Or, as we find out later, they maybe have realized - they're just too dense to tell the other person (or anyone else, even - aside from him telling his roommate, who literally hauls her ass over to help him out, only for him to back out of his plan because someone cries) and would therefore rather ruin (okay, maybe not that - Jimmy's character didn't seem like he was a bad person, but he was so awfully close to becoming Love Aaj Kal's - the first one, that is - Rahul Khanna; instead he lucks out and just ends up becoming KKHH's Salman Khan) their lives.
This possibly may have been the start of "Jimmy doesn't get the girl," an overarching theme of many of Jimmy's many movies that seemed to reach it's peak in the Tanu Weds Manu series - where he not only initially gets left behind by Kangna, but then later finds himself again left behind by not only Kangna, but also Kangna's lookalike Kangna.
But yeah, it starts here when he gets engaged to a girl who loves, but ignores said love, her best friend. That's just a recipe for disaster, and as worst case plays out for him, you just wonder if maybe something will work out with him and Sanju's friend/roommate (likely no longer a roommate). Because he's nice enough to deserve something good.
Of course, life doesn't give a shit about that - if anything, it probably means he's just destined to a lifetime of sadness. But that's a story for another never.
I really like this movie, even after repeated rewatches.

bro
the swaddle has a really good article about 'The Romantics'
check it out
Okay, so I read it, and I do agree. It is more of a PR exercise than a documentary. But I also think that they are not trying to be anything else. It is a very unabashed celebration of YRF, and the cinema Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra have made. I don't think they are trying to hide it. They are not. Yes, calling it a docuseries is weird, and not really correct, and I think my own biases also come into play.
I did however cringe when they did the whole nepotism takedown with Uday Chopra as an example. I mean, pretending at the end of the day it's all about merit etc. He was launched as the major supporting in a movie led by Amitabh Bachchan and SRK. Like how bigger can you get, and he constantly got opportunities, despite his failures, something an outsider would have never had the luxury of. So like pretending that haan yes, hota hai chalta hai nepotism, but talent hona chahiye, wala response is very dumb.

FICCI announces appointment of Kevin Vaz, CEO, Broadcast Entertainment, Viacom18 as the Chairman of FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee
NEW DELHI, 24 January 2024: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), today, announced the appointment of Mr Kevin Vaz, CEO – Broadcast Entertainment, Viacom18 as the Chairman of FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee.
Mr Vaz, a highly accomplished executive with nearly three decades of experience in the Media & Entertainment industry, joined Viacom18 in July 2023 as CEO - Broadcast Entertainment. In his current capacity, he oversees the media company's broadcast business, film studio, merchandising business, live entertainment, and regional entertainment on Viacom18’s digital (OTT) platform. Mr Vaz's visionary leadership and strategic insight have already begun elevating the company’s television viewership, scaled up revenue realization, and significantly increased the network's overall market share across genres and geographies.
FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee for the last 25 years has been the principal force behind major policy changes and working towards fostering growth, advocating for favourable policies, and promoting the overall development of the sector and its allied ecosystems. The committee has been chaired by Mr Yash Chopra, Mr Karan Johar, Mr Uday Shankar, Mr Sanjay Gupta and Ms Jyoti Deshpande in the past.
Ms Leena Jaisani, Deputy Secretary General, FICCI said, "FICCI, as the apex industry association, has consistently led the charge in fostering collaborations with diverse stakeholders within the realms of Indian commerce and government. In navigating the complexities of this dynamic landscape, FICCI remains steadfast in its commitment to driving meaningful policy discussions and facilitating their effective adoption, thereby shaping a vibrant and progressive future for the media and entertainment sector in India. FICCI is confident that Mr Vaz, with his wealth of experience, will bring fresh perspectives and contribute significantly to the continued growth of the Media & Entertainment industry."
Mr Kevin Vaz, Chairman, FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee & CEO, Broadcast Entertainment, Viacom18 said, “The Indian Media and Entertainment industry is at an interesting tipping point in time. While the interplay of technology, content and consumer behaviour is reshaping the very definition of the sector, in India there is a clear headroom for growth across categories and a confluence of interests between multiple players in the ecosystem. At a global stage, the soft power inherent to our industry can act as a leverage multiplier to India’s growing cultural influence. I feel honoured to be given the responsibility to lead this committee and look forward to interacting with stakeholders across the board to further our sector’s footprint.”
The dynamic committee includes promoters and CEOs from various verticals such as TV and Radio Broadcast, Film Production & Exhibition, Print, Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, AR/VR/MR (AVGC-XR), Digital Entertainment Events, OOH, among others.
Mr Vaz along with the Media and Entertainment committee will be engaging with the industry at FICCI FRAMES 2024 scheduled from 5-7 March 2024 in Mumbai.
