The UN Secretary-General decided not to include Hamas on the list of sexual violence perpetrators. This decision comes despite findings in the report on Hamas’s sexual violence, which explicitly acknowledged the link between the October 7th attack and systematic and targeted sexual violence.

Today we celebrate the UN's anniversary. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to take this day to thank the UN for being an organization committed to maintaining international peace and security, fostering friendly relations among nations, promoting social progress, higher living standards, and human rights, even when they refuse peace resolutions to save civilian lives! 🤡 Instagram.com/porracristo/

Sudan's West Darfur - Crimes against humanity are being committed, including torture, rape and looting by UAE backed RSF militia
youtube
Human Rights Watch has released a new report calling the situation in Sudan's West Darfur state one of ethnic cleansing -- and says crimes against humanity are being committed, including torture, rape and looting.
It's found that attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and its allied armed groups in el-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, have killed thousands of people and displaced hundreds of thousands as refugees. In response - the NGO is calling on the United Nations and the African Union to 'urgently impose an arms embargo on Sudan, sanction those responsible for serious crimes and deploy a mission to protect civilians.' Alan Boswell is Horn of Africa director at the International Crisis Group. He says the international community has to act to prevent further atrocities from taking place.

Lord Caradon analyzes Jerusalem's historical, political, and social context and offers insights and recommendations regarding the city's future, especially within the context of Israeli-Palestinian tensions circa 1980.
“Israel must be secure. Palestinians must be free. One is not possible without the other. Both are now attainable. Jerusalem could show the way” (Caradon, 31).

Moving the UN from Prim Words to Urgent Deeds
Our world is enduring the sixth mass extinction in its history: the Anthropocene Extinction. Species are disappearing at a thousand times the natural rate.
Unlike the great dyings of past epochs, this one is driven not by natural planetary catastrophes, but by human activity.
My role as a member of Canada’s state delegation at the UN Convention on Biological Diversity is to wield Nature Canada’s policy expertise, to press the treaty from prim words to urgent deeds.

What's Blooming at the Peace Garden?
What's blooming at the Peace Garden? Our flowering ceanothus is out in full force, giving us some brilliant blue color and great nourishment for the butterflies. Goldenrod is also at its peak, blazing away in its yellow splendor, and our roses, coreopsis and black-eyed susans continue to give great color as well. Be sure to check it out when you're in the area!

⚠️⚠️Dear World⚠️⚠️ A simple example among hundreds regarding the Palestinian conflict… remember that while you are all focused on Hamas (A Liberation Group!), Ben-Gvir, Israeli Minister of National Security, has been convicted on at least eight charges, including supporting a terrorist organization and incitement to racism, compiling a criminal record so longthat, whenheappeared before a judge, “we had to change the ink on the printer”.
These are the characters that have the unwavering support of the US، UK, Europe and others! Basically, the Israeli government has openly convicted terrorist criminal members and the West finds that acceptable!
What has the world come to? Democracy and humanity reversed?! … These so called democracies are the root cause of most historical atrocities and inhumanities the world has witnessed! The truth is so apparent just don’t be naive it’s happening right in front of our eyes 👊🏻 Among all that’s wrong with the world today, the basics of morality must be restored along with humanity!

ICJ Opens Genocide Case: South Africa Accuses Israel
Tumblr media
In a historic development, South Africa brings a genocide case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the ongoing Gaza war. Legal experts and activists rally as the world watches closely.
Key Players in The Hague
South Africa's legal team, including Ronald Lamola, Adila Hassim, Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, and others, presented a compelling case against Israel. The accusation: genocide against the people of Gaza.
Full Case Hearing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2vQ7suQWGg
Israel's Strong Rebuttal
Israel responds with a vehement denial, accusing South Africa of being the "legal arm" of Hamas. The ICJ hears contrasting narratives as the legal battle unfolds. https://twitter.com/IsraelMFA/status/1745470810309968356
Genocidal Acts in Gaza
South Africa's case points to more than 23,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, killed in the three-month war. The UN describes the humanitarian situation as a "catastrophe," with Gaza's population of 2.3 million facing displacement and severe restrictions on essential resources. https://twitter.com/PalestineChron/status/1745472327683305795
Legal Grounds and Genocide Convention
South Africa argues that Israel violated the UN's 1948 Genocide Convention, established after the Holocaust. The 84-page document filed outlines alleged genocidal acts in Gaza, with Adila Hassim stating, "Nothing will stop the suffering, except an order from this court." https://twitter.com/PalestineChron/status/1745446023290392679
International Reaction and Solidarity
Pro-Palestinian supporters gather outside the ICJ, echoing calls to end Israel's war. The case resonates globally, with figures like Rashida Tlaib expressing support and condemning the US's role in the ongoing violence. https://twitter.com/RepRashida/status/1745221911691272485
Israel's Defense and Accusations
Israel rejects the genocide accusations, calling them "baseless" and a "blood libel." Prime Minister Netanyahu dismisses the case, emphasizing Israel's right to defend itself against terrorism. https://twitter.com/MiddleEastEye/status/1745329755363455450
ICJ's Historic Role
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), known as the World Court, becomes the stage for this historic legal battle. Analysts deem South Africa's case "extremely compelling," emphasizing the significance of invoking the Genocide Convention. https://twitter.com/CIJ_ICJ/status/1745373246038425929
Anticipating ICJ's Decision
As the ICJ closes its first hearing, eyes turn to the court's decision. Legal expert Geoffrey Nice highlights the need for "provisional measures" to address ongoing abuses, with hopes for a swift resolution. In a world grappling with conflicting narratives, the ICJ's decision may shape the discourse on the Israel-Gaza conflict. The unfolding legal drama prompts reflection on accountability, justice, and the quest for a lasting peace in the Middle East. Read the full article
