See my previous reels to see how this jacket started, and then faded after washing. A true lesson in using the right materials for your means!
It turned out to be a happy accident because all the original stamps left a ghost or shadow effect under the re-stamping. It looks so cool!
I named this the Rider jacket for the bicycle, which is a sentimental symbol for me. It was my first taste of freedom, my first independent transportation, my first RCHP b-side (IYKYK). What does a bicycle mean to you?
This year's secret santa gift. Thrifted a leather jacket, ripped out the lining, and put in this classic horror movie fabric that I found on Etsy. My friend designed a custom clothing tag for me.
I cut up a hoodie and army jacket I hadn't worn in awhile to make the base jacket for my patches :) I just need to hem the sleeve edges and make a more permanent attachment for the hood, everything is just saftey pinned together rn.
I'm leaning towards everything being detachable right now, that way I can switch up the sleeves and hood whenever I feel like it. I'll probably sew in some buttons for the hood attachment, and for the sleeves I'm thinking I'll do eyelets that I can hook safety pins through. I would just leave everything safety pinned bc it's easier but I really want to minimize risk of fabric tearing over time.
I've been working on this jacket since the start of the year. So far we have Ghost (Papa Emeritus IV), Halestorm, and Shinedown. I wanna add Icon for Hire and The Nearly Deads but I'm not sure where to add them yet.
I thrifted this jacket recently, and although it isnt my usual black I absolutely love it. Olive green is one of my favourite colours (I love green in general TBH).
Because of the colour I had the idea to make it nature themed, but I also want to try and keep it "on brand" as a friend of mine puts it, with a dark thread running through the nature vibe. Is this what the young folks call goblincore? Dark cottagecore? Something like that anyway.
Autumn is my favourite season and I thought the associated colour palette of browns, oranges, yellows and greens could work really well for this. I had a piece of quilting fabric that was made up of panels of pumpkins (which of course make most people think of Halloween) and leaves, so I cut one of those out to put on the back. It's very big, but if I get any other large back patches in the future I'll probably overlap them onto it.
On the front all I have for now is this Ulver patch which I made with iron-on printer transfer paper. I love Ulver and this album (Shadows of the Sun) has the Stag as its artwork which gives the nature connection, but the music whilst not goth is very dark and the lyrics are all themed around death and loss.
Finally, a pigeon patch by Katie Whittle. No particular reason for this one except that I like pigeons 😁
I don't have anything else to go on it yet, but my ideas for future things to add include mushrooms, frogs and toads, turtles, octopi, moths, creepy crawlies and so on. Further posts will happen as I update it!
current progress on the hand painted back patch on one of the jackets im working on, i’ll probably post more about my diys on here since theyre taking up alot of my time as of late
If you forgot your old navy denim jacket at a Vermont movie theater back in June & decided it wasn't worth coming back for, just know it's found a new purpose
If you want it back, it's too late, I've already replaced the back panel & I start painting it tomorrow
I bought the back design from a friend who no longer wanted the shirt, but it was too small for me. So I found a jacket it would fit on and hand painted some of my favorite panels from his manga to go with it. I love how it turned out and can’t wait to wear it!
One part adhd, two parts extra craft supplies. Stir in a heaping tablespoon of devotion and add a jean jacket!
My wife and I recently moved and whoop I have too many art supplies. Bits and bobs from prior projects or just a case of beads because one time for my birthday my wife went to Michael's and brought back $70 of them during a 50% sale lol. I've always wanted a Jean jacket to muck around with and now I've got the chance. The lace has been added to the front and now I've got to paint the back white so I can start on some mural...I haven't put it all together yet in my brain but it's forming.
To me the lace kinda looks like little owls, let me know if you can see it.
