You don't like loud music. You hate people being close to you. You suck at dancing, unless it's in your kitchen. And you like alcohol but you don't like losing control of yourself so you only drink enough to relax. Flashing lights give you a headache, and dim corners give you anxiety.

But here you are, drink in hand, music pounding in your ears and lights flashing obnoxiously around you. There's a group of men that you've never seen before here, and their added yells and revelry are adding to your brewing headache.

"Let's go celebrate your promotion!"

When you see her again, you're so killing your best friend. This was celebrating? You'd be so much happier with some good pasta and a binge watch of of your favorite tv show. Maybe a mani pedi. Something relaxing and enjoyable not...

Whatever the hell this is supposed to be.

You sigh and wish you were at home, eyes scanning to find your friends. They went to dance three songs ago. You think they'll be easy to spot, but--

"HOLY SHIT!"

You stumble backwards to avoid being crashed into by one of the men partying hard. He's laughing, almost cackling, and you wince as your drink splashes over your front, staining your light pink top because of course you'd ordered a rum and Coke. The guy laughs, catching himself before slamming into you, and he looks at your empty glass.

"Sorry!" You can barely hear him above the music and he can tell, motioning wildly in a drunken pantomime that isn't too hard to decipher.

C'mon I'll buy you another.

Why not, you decide, nodding. He grins and grabs your forearm, practically dragging you with him towards the VIP section, and you think you see your friends' shocked faces when you're pulled past a group.

The music isn't quite as loud here and you wave off his apologies, taking the napkins he shoves at you to sop up the mess of your top.

"I'm Lando," he tells you, sniffing your empty glass then walking off.

"So pleased to meet you," you mutter under your breath, nose wrinkling as you try to inconspicuously fish the thin straw out of your bra.

"You alright?"

Seriously what is with all the accents? You yank the straw out, squeaking when it slips from your fingers and hits the guy's cheek. He makes a face, cheeks tinging pink.

"I'm fine," you promise. "Sorry, it was - Lando? He bumped into me and, well."

"Sounds like him." The man in front of you smiles ruefully, and as he watches you it fades. "You're not one for clubs are you?"

His accent is so nice. You shake your head, looking around for some place to put the napkins. He takes them from you and shoves them onto a table, then blushes again.

The next thing you know he's taken a jacket off the sofa and is draping it around your shoulders. "Um, your top is kinda..." His cheeks darken even more and he rubs the back of his neck. "See through?"

You almost giggle, finding his embarrassment more than a little endearing. "Thank you." You slip your arms into the sleeves and pull it closed. "Really, thank you. I don't want to flash a bunch of strange men."

"So women would be alright?" he asks with a grin and you do giggle this time, accepting his offer to have a seat.

His name is Oscar and you're so glad he's not a grouch. The only sport of any kind you've ever been interested in was little league softball and you'd been horrible at it, so when the brown eyed man from Australia says he's a race car driver you nod. Lando comes back with a drink for you and it's not a rum and coke but you drink it, enjoying the conversation you're having with Oscar. And when your friends start texting you you sigh, almost sad to go.

"My friends," you say, texting them that you'll meet them at the front of the club. You start to take off the jacket, surprised when he reaches to close it. The spill is dried now, your top sticking to your skin.

"Nah, keep it. Don't want you flashing a bunch of men." He smiles softly and stands, holding out his hands to you.

You don't need his help to stand but you slide your hands into his. They're large, swallowing yours, and you think you may have had a little too much to drink because the difference in size makes you feel fuzzy. He pulls you to your feet, hands still holding yours as you stare up at him. "Thanks," you tell him. And, emboldened by the small amount of alcohol, you lick your lips and lean up on your tiptoes, pressing a kiss to his cheek. You feel his little breath of surprise and his hands gently squeeze yours as you pull back.

"Can - Christ," he groans when his voice lifts an octave in the middle of the word. His cheeks are red and your phone is buzzing with an incoming call. You ignore it, wiggling your fingers against his. "Can I walk you out? And maybe get your number?"

Later, after you're home and showered and have exchanged several texts with Oscar, you think that maybe you like clubs after all.

It's Gallery Time Again!

Friday, November 24th

OoC Information: THIS IS NOT AN IN-GAME EVENT! This is meant as just something fun to headcanon for your character (and write about if you like - especially with @daily-writing-challenge starting on the 26th), if it is something they are able to attend! If you do choose to write any stories about this, please feel free to tag me - @vixannya - in the body of the post and use the tag #7deadlysins!

Vixannya owns an art gallery in Dalaran where she hosts various art exhibitions throughout the year. Two or three times a year, she will display her own work which is always accompanied by a massive grand opening and follow-up afterparty in another location.

Invitations are always given to those who make large contributions to the gallery and to the arts in general, as well as to prominent families from all over, friends, fellow Tarts, and those depicted in her work.

VIP access goes to the largest contributors, her muses, and anyone who purchases one of the pieces from the gallery on opening night. Even if your character cannot attend the grand opening and afterparty, the gallery is open to the public for a month! !Adults only!

Her final exhibition of the year is:

The red carpet treatment always marks the entrance of the gallery,  a place for the guests to show off and be photographed in their designer gowns and suits, or whatever else they choose to wear. The fashion seen here always rivals that of the city’s grandest galas, just don’t upstage the art!

A group of master illusionists have transformed both the inside of the gallery and the afterparty space, with the various rooms mirroring themes in their separate locations. The themes: Pride, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Wrath, Envy, and Lust. The gallery version of each space is a little more simplified than that of the afterparty, in order to feature the art over all else.

The art itself has a single or multiple subjects, each containing one of the sins in some manner. There are 45 pieces in total; most small or medium size with at least one larger piece in each section. All of the paintings fall within her main area of focus, the one she has become well-known for, Death. All paintings are premonitions of how her living muses will die, according to her. Many of which, in the past, have shockingly come true.

The After Party:

While most of her after parties consist of four very different spaces that match the theme of the gallery itself, this one has SEVEN different spaces to each represent one of the deadly sins.

Pride, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, and Wrath are the ‘safe’ areas! While drinking and drugs are acceptable everywhere, the lewd acts are reserved for the last two sets of locations.

Envy and Lust are the ‘anything goes WITH CONSENT’ areas.

PRIDE: Grand ballroom with a large dance floor, orchestra playing classical music, champagne towers, large chandeliers, waiters at your beck and call.

GLUTTONY: Massive buffets, fine sit down dining, bars with every type of alcohol (and drug) available.

SLOTH: Massages, saunas, facials, mani/pedis, large hot tubs, any other type of spa service, quiet and nap rooms.

GREED: High stakes poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, jazz musicians and singers.

WRATH: Various popular rock/metal bands and mosh pits to begin the party. DJs playing EDM, raving, neon lights to close out the party. 'Rage rooms' in the back for people to go ham breaking all variety of things!

ENVY: Cabaret and burlesque performers, aerialists, body shots, live peep shows featuring singles, doubles, or more - with the opportunity to become a part of a peep show.

Burnout in the Devildom: Asmodeus' Chapter

You’ve been working hard in the Devildom. Classes are intense, especially when it feels like you’re having to play catch-up just to have basic understandings of things everyone else knows innately. Add to that living with seven avatars of sin who can’t go more than six hours without some sort of catastrophe, and somehow you’re always dragged into the middle of their chaos to sort things out and be their big sibling despite being the actual baby of the entire world?

You’re exhausted. The sort of exhaustion that does not just go away after a good night’s rest and an eye mask and a glass of human-world wine. The sort of exhaustion that starts sapping the life out of everything you do, everything you touch, until you feel like you’re just going through the motions and always one inconvenience away from a complete meltdown.

ASMODEUS:

Humans, as fragile and mortal as you are, are dangerously susceptible to change.

He has to watch what he eats, how much he drinks, how much he sleeps in order to look his best.

But darling, if he worries about the differences on his body from those things, he doesn't know how you aren't petrified at how quickly and drastically those changes show up on you!

The smudges under your eyes are so dark he thought it was a bizarre new makeup trend you were trying. The way your hair is so dull and frizzed and limp? Tragic. Don't get him started on the two breakouts that you think you're covering with some concealer! And do you think he hasn't noticed the dry patches on your skin, especially your hands, where your skin seems to be flaking?

Satan had been going on and on about the effects of stress on your heart and your brain and, sure, very concerning, but how is nobody else upset about the fact you are practically crumpling into dust before their eyes?! 

See, the thing they don't seem to understand is that sometimes treating the symptoms does treat the problem itself. They're all wanting to get to the bottom of whatever your problem is and fix that, and they can go right ahead. But Asmodeus? He's going to handle the obvious issue right in front of everyone's eyes.

He asks you on the walk to school one morning whether you'd prefer to go out for a spa day and a mani-pedi and some retail therapy, or if you'd prefer to stay home and let him pamper you so well you'll think you're in the Celestial Realm. (And before you let it influence your answer, he promises to keep all the pampering completely innocent -- this is about you, not him, and as tempted as he may be to kiss every inch of you he'll save that for another time~)

And don't bother saying no to both, darling, he won't take that for an answer. ♥

Whatever option you do pick -- because you do pick one, MC -- he's delighted and presses a kiss to your cheek and promises you won't regret this and to leave everything to him!

When the weekend arrives, he doesn't give anyone else the opportunity to protest your plans before he collects you from your room and links your arms together and half-drags you along with him.

If you wished to go out and leave the pampering to others, then away you go! He's a bit of a VIP, MC, so he was able to squeeze you both in at the best spa in the Devildom last minute. And don't you worry your pretty little human head, he already spoke with them at length to confirm everything would be in human-safe conditions with human-safe products.

It'll be a lovely time, soaking in luxurious baths that are as much oil as water, scented with subtle spice and warmth that leaves your brain going as unraveled as your muscles (though you have to admit it's not quite as decadent as Asmo's baths are). Then there is the massage together, where he spends the whole time chatting with you, asking how you're feeling and coaxing you to talk about pleasant idle things, like the hottest gossip at the Academy right now or tittering over how many eyes have been on you without you noticing, MC.

Then there's the nail salon, where he insists you both get extravagant matching designs to mark the occasion (and to absolutely get so many likes on Devilgram, people will go wild with envy!) before some retail therapy. Not for clothes, darling, though he'd love to dress you up some more, but for skincare products. He's of course happy to share his stash, but perhaps it's time to get you your own exquisite routine for your delicate human skin.

Everything is on him, and by the time you head home you have bags and bags of high-end creams and oils and serums and cleansers, of candles and incense and bath supplies ranging from soaps to a bottle of imported human wine, all of it costing more than you make in a year. And you're exhausted from the excitement of the day, but for the first time in a while it's a pleasant exhaustion, a did-fun-things-until-you-dropped exhaustion.

.... But MC, as lovely as that day could be, if you let him pamper you...?

He had Satan help him double-check all of his bath and beauty products one ingredient at a time, because as much as he thought it was cute when you broke out in those lovely purple splotches last time he shared a bath product, he's aware it could have been much worse. And he certainly doesn't want to upset or further stress you!

The day starts with his private bath, where nudity is absolutely welcome but not required (and he follows your lead, because your comfort is his priority). But you didn't think you'd be quietly sitting on opposite ends soaking separately together, right?

He insists on washing your hair for you, sitting behind you and working his long fingers through your hair and over your scalp in soothing swirls. If you didn't know he was completely serious, you might laugh as he compliments the curve of your skull or the roots of your hair. He's gentle and sure as he guides you to slip down, submerging your head so he can work the lather out in the water.

And while he's here, let him help you get your back, hm? After you both exfoliate, you simply must try this delightful bath smoothie he was sent, it's so much thicker and creamier than regular soap and it leaves your skin feeling so soft and smelling so delicious for hours!

Once your long bath is complete, it's all about the moisturizer. He shares his favorites-- yes, MC, there are different moisturizers for different places! This one he applies to your elbows and knees, and this one on your arms, and this will make your legs so soft! And this is for your back and chest~

Then he has a matching set of silk pajamas for you both to wear while you let him fuss with your hair, one product for your scalp, another for your hair, a third for the ends to keep them healthy and shiny. And of course he has a whole kit of supplies for facials, MC~! He takes advantage of the excuse to get to touch your face, bopping your nose and sliding fingers along your cheekbones and marveling at every single bump and dot and scar and pore like you're a wondrous masterpiece. 

By the time you're exfoliated, cleansed, moisturized and glowing, you have to admit you do feel a bit better. One part because you're so relaxed, one part because you've been complimented so much you don't know if the heat prickling your cheeks will ever go away, and one part because you had been letting some basic self-care matters fall aside in your exhaustion.

As Asmo lovingly paints your nails, he shoots you little knowing smiles. Sometimes he seems almost too perceptive, and you forget that side of him until it emerges again. "So," he coos, "we've been driving you insane, haven't we?"

You startle (carefully, because he's in the middle of painting a design on your nail and it'd be a crime to ruin it now) but laugh a little, shrugging your shoulder. Maybe a little, you admit.

He looks back to your nails, humming a little victory tune to himself for his excellent instincts. He tells you that you have to learn to say no sometimes, MC. It's precious how much you're always wanting to help, and how you're always willing to go along with their schemes and their games and their plans. But you're letting yourself be taken advantage of, darling.

"We are all demons, you recall. We can't resist wanting you all to ourselves, and if you let us keep getting away with it, we'll never give you a moment's peace."

Don't look so surprised, dear MC! You didn't think they weren't aware of how selfish and greedy they all were being, did you? They do love you, truly, and they don't mean to cause you distress, but you're just so agreeable and so quick to offer yourself and so eager to please~

He laughs and gives you a cheeky smile when you ask about him. Why, MC! You don't mean to say you plan to start telling him no?! But he leans in to kiss your brow and then rub your noses together. "If I ask too much, my dear, all you ever need to do is say. I might act upset, but I will always respect your wishes. I hope you never doubt that."

And at the end of the day you lay curled together in his bed, scrolling through Devilgram and taking selfies together. 

Of course he worries about getting his own best angle, but in every single picture he finds something beautiful to say about you. Especially the parts of you that make you the most self-conscious. He loves the slope of your nose, the sweep of your brow, the shape of your smile and the lines of your jaw. 

His brothers might call him vain, but you've never felt more completely seen and absolutely loved than you do that evening. For the first time in a while, you remember how to love yourself through Asmo loving you.

Chapter 18: Courting & Claiming (Kitara POV)

I couldn't believe it.

I was going to Tournament of Kings as a VIP. Though I had gone to the spa for a bunch of things, my dress and makeup would be done there. I was anxious and excited-anxious because VIPs get more attention and excited because I'd never been to the show before, but always wanted to go. No one ever wanted to go with me.

I watched Shane get ready. He seemed a bit nervous. He had been somewhere other than jogging, I could tell. He had his hair retouched, his eyebrows done. I wasn't sure, but did he do some manscaping, some mani-pedi action? I guess if I could go and get pretty, he could too. Ha, he went from devastatingly handsome and rugged to devastatingly handsome. AW. I was thankful that he seemed to be letting his facial hair grow, though. I liked rubbing my cheek against his.

We arrived at Excalibur and they separated us immediately. He told me not to worry about it, but I was. They were fussing and dressing me. I had dresses to choose from. 

I was nervous.

"He will love you in this!" one of the maids said happily. "It's one of our best dresses."

"He picked every dress for you," another said.

"He did?" I asked.

"He asked for the best we had for you to pick from--"

As if he knew he was being talked about, Shane strode in and sat in a chair, watching the maids do finishing touches.

"You look beautiful enough to paint," he said softly. "Are you ready?"

"I think so," I answered, but I wasn't sure. The maids didn't ever seem to be done.

Shane cleared his throat and they turned toward him. With a slight nod toward the door, they curtsied and were gone.

"Was that all I had to do?" I asked.

He laughed. "You should have thanked them, said they'd done enough."

"Do I look like gentry or royalty to you?"

"You do to me." He rose from his seat, and pulled on his jacket. He started fastening it, and I helped him. "Now, this is not what I want."

"What?"

"You dressing me, of course."

I felt heat rush to my cheeks as I finished. "We've been invited by the kings of the realm. I want you to look your best." I looked in the mirror again, smoothing the dress.

He stepped behind me, and put his arms around my waist. "The king himself would understand my delay if he saw you now," he drawled in my ear. He laughed softly, and kissed my cheek, then turned and offered his arm which I took.

Dinner was served, and there were fireworks and music.

"I've got to go," he whispered. "I'll be back in a little bit."

"Where are you going?"

"To say hello to an old friend."

"You will keep me company, won't you?" the princess asked.

"Of course, Your Highness," I said quickly. What is he up to?

She told me to eat quickly because the show would begin and horses might kick up sand on the plates. Ew. So, I did, and we had covers brought to us.

The horses paraded, kings with their knights, each looking to possess the sword I presumed was Excalibur. I was sipping wine and almost choked when I saw that Arthur had one knight more than the others.

"Oh, my God." I gasped. "Shane?"

He cast me a smile, and was amused with I am sure was shock on my face.

"Oh, Lady Kitara, I do believe he fancies you!" The princess smiled and clapped.

As each knight rode by, they got favors-handkerchiefs-from VIPs. Women watched him ride by, but his eyes hadn't left mine. So their eyes followed him to me. "My Lady Kitara, would you do me the honor of letting me wear your favors today?"

It was then I remembered the handkerchief they gave me. And here I was, thinking it was a napkin for food or to blow my nose, but thank heaven I'd forgotten I had it till that second. My eyes didn't leave his as I pulled it from my sleeve. I tied it to the handle of his sword, and looked up at him.

"I assure you I will win today," he nodded. "and I will return for my prize."

After he rode away, the princess fanned herself, laughing. "Well, he's taken, isn't he?" I didn't reply, I couldn't. Just when I think I am getting used to him, he does something to take my breath away-again.

The princess did a double take and leaned into me. "Are you trying to tell me he hasn't bedded you? That you haven't ridden that stallion?"

I didn't know what to say to that. I mean, I knew what to say to that, but I didn't know what to say to that! "I--"

The princess chuckled softly, "Well, Lady Kitara, I do believe more than your breath will be taken tonight."

Anticipation and anxiety spread through me, and he kept his eyes on me mostly. A knight faked an injury, and selected Shane to duel in his place. When those swords clashed, I heard the metal clang, saw the metal spark. I gasped. Dear God, he's about to make a movie! What if he--

In minutes, it was over, before I had time to react, worry or panic. King Arthur knighted him on the spot and sent him on his way. He disappeared backstage on horseback and at the end of the first half, returned to me.

"Impressed?"

"Yes, yes I was."

"I kept your prize safe, sir," the princess said suggestively.

"Thank you, Your Grace." He murmured before kissing me.

After the show, we headed back to the Luxor. We left in costume and Shane promised to return the costumes the next day. We weren't far from there, anyway.       

We got back to the Luxor, looking completely out of place in our Midieval attire. I got out of it quickly and laid it on the couch. I was looking out the window. I looked out and I could see the desert and mountains in the distance. I looked down and I could see all the tech and lights.

"The view is so beautiful," I breathed, shaking my head at it. "Have you seen this? Shane?"

The next thing I knew his arms were around me. "It is beautiful." He breathed in my ear, on my neck, and I felt my body respond instantly. He turned me around and took my hands. "Come here."

"Shane?"

"In here."

The anticipation and anxiety started again, but I followed. The bedroom lights were dimmed and only the salt lamps were on. "Uh...what's going on?"

"Come here."

I stepped inside the room, and looked up at him expectantly.

"I know you have trouble trusting," he told me, getting nervous. "Truthfully, I don't blame you—"

"I know, and I'm sorry—"

"Don't you want me?" he sounded almost pitiful, his eyes a beautifully intriguing mixture of hunger and passion.

I nodded yes, but didn't know what to do. "Yes."

"Then..." he gestured to the bed. "Take me."

I went still. "Wha-at?"

"I trust you," he swallowed hard, and went to the bed. "I want you, you want me..." He pulled padded cuffs from under the pillow. "so take me."

She can and will talk about everything for hours if she's given the chance. Specifically, things she wants to do with you. Somethings are mentioned once then never again. She likes to mention hobbies she would like to try while she scrolling mindlessly through Pinterest, 90 percent of the time she forgets about it within a matter of days.

U - Unbearable what habit do they have that's unbearable?

She is on her phone constantly, it especially bothers you when you're trying to spend time together and she's taking pictures for her Instagram story.

Very Gorgeous, beautiful, funny, kind, intelligent. She thinks the world of you and she's not afraid to admit it. Except to Madison, when she senses weakness she goes in for the kill.

Coco knows she can be shallow and annoying sometimes, she is very insecure about how other people view her as, but you don't put up with her insecurities. You constantly, patiently, reassure her that you love her, that you would do anything in the world to keep her happy. She loves that you see her for who she really is, not just her father's money. She loves you because you love her.

April Reflections/May Intentions

Happy May!!

April was quite the roller coaster. A lot of ups, and downs and twists and turns. 

A couple of highlights were me reconnecting with an old friend and rekindling our friendship, I was ghosted out of NOWHERE by someone I thought was my friend, I made it through my more keto friendly month alive (blog post to follow on how it went), my life’s purpose or at least part of it was revealed to me in the most beautiful and crazy way (blog on this to follow) and the last day of April I was tested to see if I’d follow my intuition and that still small voice within that I’ve been questioning and I didn’t and welllllllllllllllllllllllll... someone hit my car (blog post to follow on this as well). I 100% learned my lesson on that one. My car is fine, I’m fine, just a fender bender that the ladies insurance will cover at all costs to fix it and they’re providing me with a rental until it’s fixed. 

Moving on...

This morning I finished up my May Intention list and sat down and pulled a few oracle cards. I asked for one to be on how I need to go about May and what I need to focus on and the other on what message I need right now for today to do my best. I’ll go into further detail on those below. :)

Now to go through my April Intentions and reflect.

Purchase Morgan Tyler’s e-book and practice it for the month - DONE. Funny story on this. She is actually coming to Texas this coming weekend and I get to meet her and take a yoga class with her and go to luncheon after. YAY. So. Effin’ Excited. I had no idea she’d be coming to Texas when I bought her book, but I FREAKED out when I saw her make the post on it and I immediately bought my VIP ticket to go. 

Start keto with Michael - done. The first week and a half were absolutely horrid and I legit felt like I was dying, but it got better. (like I said above I’ll be writing on this in a future blog post)

Try out bone broth - done. LOVE it. 

Pay $500 towards debt - DONNNEE!!! I was so happy I was able to make this happen!! I basically saved almost double what I usually do. 

Go for evening walks after work and hike often - evening walks didn’t happen, but hiking did along with lots of walks on my breaks at work. I actually have a weird tan line on my feet from my shoes from all the walking I’ve done at work.

Eat less pasta, rice, sugar and dairy - I didn’t have pasta all month, I had rice a few times, but only on the weekends if we’d go to Chipotle. I didn’t eat anything with processed sugar and when I’d eat something sweet it was keto friendly and made with monkfruit and dairy is a part of keto and I do pretty ok with cheese from what I can tell. The thing that gets me the most is wheat and SUGAR. I’ve really been slowly cutting back on sugar this whole year and that is what got me at the beginning of the month the most.

Try out phat bombs - done. We’ve tried out so many different kinds and my fave are definitely the chocolate chip cookie dough and cheesecake. 

Be quick to surrender - done. I’ve started to realized I’m not near as resistant as I know I can and the more I’ve surrender the more the Universe has revealed to me.

If it’s not a eff YES, it’s an eff no - this is something I’ve really had to work at since in the past I’ve been a over the top “yes” person and the person who paid for it ended up being me and I’m just not ok with living that way anymore. Saying no isn’t a bad or mean thing and it’s still something I’m learning on the daily and it’s getting easier the more I practice it. 

Plan and book camping trip w/ Michael <3 - the plans are still in the works because the days we did try and book weren’t working out smoothly, so I backed off on it and will revisit it a little later. I don’t ever want to force something to happen and I saw it starting to happen with this, so I surrendered and asked for it to come back to me when it was time.

Purchase teeth whitening kit - doonnnneee and I loooooove the results!!

Less screens, more books - this did and didn’t happen. That is why you’ll see for May I’m not on social media BECAUSE I have books I’m reading and want to make the time for them.

Treat myself to a pedi - done!! and it was gloriousssss and I found my new favorite spa and it just so happens to be not even a mile away from where I live. 

April overall was good to me and I’m grateful for the many ups and downs and I’m even more proud of myself to surrendering when I need to and also standing up for myself when I know I need to. Finding balance with communication, surrendering, boundaries, speaking my truth and saying “no” when I know in my gut I need to isn’t always the easiest, but just like with anything I have to work that muscle to make it stronger and stronger cause let’s be real.. I don’t want to be this doormat of a person who never speaks up and doesn’t set boundaries and let’s people walk all over her and in turn try and control EVERYTHING around me because I’m so overwhelmed and miserable. It just isn’t quite my cup of tea anymore.

I have a few things I’m really focusing in on this month. 1.) learning and practicing reiki, 2.) reading more books and 3.) HAVE FUN. Every single weekend starting this coming weekend is full of fun and exciting events that I’ve really been looking forward to!! I’m taking a social media break all of May, so I can better focus my attention on the things I’m learning and just to honestly detox just a bit from it. The first few days really sucked, but I’m getting into the habit of taking a book I’m reading with me to work and having one on my phone and I’ll read on my breaks or in the evenings or during my morning quiet time. I’m currently reading “How to Be Well” by Frank Lipman, “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck” by Mark Manson, “Musings of an Earth Angel” by Suzanne Adams and I purchased a Reiki course I’m reading and practicing through as well. 

So I said a prayer and asked for a message about what I need to focus on for the month of May and I pulled “Soul Family” and for me the message was telling me that I need to be open to unexpected people that will be coming into my life this month and embrace them with love. I’ll be in Austin this weekend, Waco another and Florida as well all throughout this month and I’ll come in contact with so many people, so who knows. I may be making a new soul family friend come the end of May and I’m open and ready for it because I love new people and I love friends.

Then I went to ask for a message for today and I heard very clearly “pick up your Rumi deck” and something with me using oracle cards I feel a surge of electricity when using these and the ones that is basically shocking my hand is the one I need to be using and after pulling the “Soul Family” card I didn’t feel that energy anymore in the deck I picked up, so I listened an grabbed my Rumi deck and pulled the most perfect card for me. Part of it said “You are the lion and the deer. You are bold, fierce and vibrant, and you are silent, sweet and gentle.” This spoke to me because there are times where I feel too nice, too sweet, too harsh, too blunt, too vulnerable and then I feel the need to play it small and be quiet, but here’s the thing. I am bold and fierce, but I’m also sweet and gentle and I’m learning when I need to be one or the other and honor how diverse I am and to find a balance and acceptance with all of it. I can’t and don’t want to be one thing all the time. I do, however, want to be a light for everyone around me and sometimes that’ll require a more bold Sarah who speaks up and sometimes a more gentle Sarah who is a listening ear and holds space.
