Art for Donations!
Because I haven't seen any art for donations projects open for new artists, I'm just going to start this one on my own blog. There are so many fundraisers I see each day, and I want to make sure they reach their goals. I have nearly 5,000 followers on this account, and if each one donated just two dollars we could very easily complete this GoFundMe:
$3+ = a sketch
$5+ = a sketch + lineart
$10+ = coloured sketch
$15+ = coloured sketch + lineart
To get a sketch, just donate, then send me a screenshot of your donation email confirmation into my askbox. Give me what you want me to draw, and I'll do it once I've verified the donation :)
Lina is only 7,310 from her goal!!! Please, donate!
what i will and won't draw guidelines below:
WON'T:
gore
explicit NSFW
fetish/kink content (would fall under NSFW)
WILL:
backgrounds
comics! (but length will depend on donation. probably a $10 will get you a decent comic that's uncoloured)
furries (will warn: i do not have a ton of experience with them but I'll do my damn best)
anything else p much?
all my art is tagged under #op art if you want to see examples.
If you're unsure about your request, just message me and we can talk it out. Or if you donate and give me a request that is against this guideline, that's fine! Just put in another request, no need to donate again.

i keep thinking about the "belgian scam ring" conspiracy because it think it betrays a misunderstanding of how internet scams work.
like, the majority of scammers don't really spend their time carefully maintaining a story? they're often low effort by design. i got a series of spam emails recently telling me they'd recorded me masturbating through my webcam and i need to give them bitcoin or they'd send the footage to all my contacts. my webcam is never plugged in and i have no email contacts, i know that's bullshit, but it doesn't matter because i imagine they're sending that same email to a thousand people, and statistically at least one of them will fall for it. it's the same with the classic nigerian prince style emails, or the 'my cat is sick' posts from near-empty blogs with stolen photos. there's just not much point crafting a story to cover your ass when a half assed one will catch a few easy marks.
so seeing some users peddle the idea that the majority of palestinian gofundmes are fake and everyone who verifies them is actually in on it is like... farfetched? or at least it would be a logistical nightmare. i'm not gonna say high effort, organised scams have never existed, and i'm not gonna begrudge people for being cautious with their funds. but at some point the reality you have to construct is so convoluted that i can only assume it's just an excuse to avoid saying that you don't want to donate to people. and that's your choice, but at least be honest about it, because trying to discredit fundraisers based on flimsy evidence is doing tangible damage in the real world.

Just a PSA: if your verification process has to be “secret” because people might bypass it, then your verification process is not robust enough.
If people are not aware of the steps and procedures you are taking to ensure proper verification and still seeing scams and fake profiles as a result, but you insist on keeping it “secret” even as it fails, then you can’t complain when you’re being rightfully scrutinized. Complaining, insulting, and lashing out at people who are pointing out your methods issues is juvenile and really shows how much you don’t want people to critically look at your process (I've seen more than one of the big accounts use racial slurs as means to delegitimize concerns and criticisms). It implies to the general public that you are actually involved with these bad actors even if you’re not.
Verification processes need to be public so that people are aware of the policies and procedures. That way the methods can be improved when bad actors bypass them. If you can’t do that as the arbiter(s) of verification and vetting then you’re not very good at it nor have you fully thought out what needs to be done.
In my career I’ve been part of the verification process for charities, grants, 501c3s, professional organizations, and universities. The steps for these are almost always public or accessible to the public. They’re procedural with multiple redundancies.
They are not “I called a friend of a friend who is their cousin and they vouched for them." That's just another form of "trust me bro, my buddy said we're good."
We also have to consider the issue of the people behind the verification itself. Heritagepost (yes I looked at what they were saying cause I knew they'd be upset about all this) referenced an interview as a means to verify and justify 90ghost (Ahmed Saad) as one of the accounts doing the vetting process, and while he does talk about the state of things and what they are going through, he also states that they cannot set up GFMs in Gaza and require outside 3rd parties to do so. That means the verification process has to include vetting of the persons who set up the GFM and the persons listed as the recipients. It doesn't matter if the recipients themselves are real and suffering if the persons running the account are the scammers.
Add in that multiple other blogs on here have pointed out that some of these "vetted/verified" GFMs are using the same stock and/or AI photos across multiple GFMS and you have to ask what is actually going on? There's very valid reasons for all of this scrutiny and criticism as it has been building for months, and instead of actually answering questions or addressing it there have been insults, threats, and deactivations.
(Interview for reference)

I have asks in my inbox from people in Gaza which i hope are all real but i haven't had the time to check them against verification lists...this account will only be used for a short time longer anyway (until i finish all commissions for people on here and bluesky adds gif/video uploads) so by the time i'm able to post them for help, this account may be gone soon after?
i don't know when I'll have time to do those checks either. it would be a lot easier to help other people if my own needs were met. i wish things didn't work that way.

btw i’m sorry to the women who’ve tried to get into my server and doubly sorry to the women who’ve dmed me about it, i have a job and a social life and i’m not on tumblr a lot anymore and when i have free time i’m usually playing video games and i don’t think about verifications. i’d love to get to them soon because i really would like to have that space available for y’all but if i’m being completely and totally honest with myself, knowing my horrible memory, i probably won’t,, if any of my mutuals OR someone i can verify in the server would like to do verifications (there’s a lot to go through) please comment on this! i’ll even pay you a few dollars on c4shapp for the troubles if you want :’)
