"Lucas based SW off of the Vietnam war-"
No, Lucas compared the conduct/strategy of the conflict of the Galactic Civil War (original trilogy) to Vietnam, one side being more numerical than the other who uses guerrilla tactics to even the odds, it's an aesthetic, the conflict(s) of Star Wars are not the Vietnam War, Star Wars is good vs evil, light against darkness, selflessness against selfishness
It's fantasy for crying out loud

there’s some conflict in the women’s group about the name of the woman’s group and i keep suggesting to the women we could sort of use several different names to throw people off “like the vietcong”

The Deer Hunter has turned out to be such a grower for me, as it's now one of my favorite films. I absolutely love a big cast and having multiple characters all talking over each other, like real life, and there's just so much of it. The Bar scene where they're all jamming to Can't Get My Eyes Off You? The big ass wedding scene lasting like 30 minutes? Just gotta be one of my favorite tropes in films.
