Game status
I talked about the games I played, but I'd like to clarify them a little more, so here we go! I added colors depending on the GM, and the crossed one is a former GM that definitively left the group, and the black one is not someone from our regular one. We're still playing together with all the colored ones!
Hazegela
Greta's group : this game doesn't really have a name. Status : stopped ; Character : Greta (@greta-wiljhem)
Thullia : in this one, our characters started building an alliance. It's settled in the same reality then the other group, but many years before. Status : stopped ; Character : Noria (@noria-martinus-bittus)
Warhammer FRP
Peasants group : I struggled to remember the setting but it turns out it was Warhammer with the Hazegela rules. Basically, we were a group of peasants going for adventure. Status : stopped ; Character : Cyano (@cyano-bacterie)
Chaotic party : this group is composed of chaotic characters. Status : stopped ; Character : Nagh (@naghharath)
Loyal party : there wasn't really a party to this one, I just had a character and we played twice. Nothing crazy here. The DM back then never mentioned if it was the same reality or time period then for the chaotic party. Basically, the game was stopped. However, I decided to try GMing WFRP, so I took a few decisions. Hence, I chose to put both games in the same time and place, they are just two different groups of people. Also, there are going to be two realities, because I had many people to play, so I made two teams (Geheimnisnacht Discordia and Old World Dissonances). I decided to relaunch this because I wanted to play my character again. Status : stopped, ongoing/to come ; Character : Adélaïde (@adelaide-lanshasaa)
The Ennemi Within : An official campaign of the Warhammer Fantasy RP, in 5 books. Sounds really interesting, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it as a player, with a different group then the usual one (I already used all the colors available on tumblr but our DM here is yet another one) ! Status : Ongoing; Character : Sister Lorelei (@lorelei-versengold)
Maléfices
Here, we only played two one-shots, I don't remember much, not even the name of my characters. Status : finished ; Characters : The first one was a man and the second one a woman
Néphilim
It's generally the same campaign; we finished our campaign but will still play with our characters. Status : ongoing ; Character : Lil' Louis (@ptit-louis)
Agents of Shield
To be honest... There has been only two scenarios right now. But the second one began between Infinity War and Endgame and I'm super excited! Status : paused ; Character : Miranda (@miranda-sts)
Chroniques Oubliées
Anatazérïn : this is the actual name of the campaign we are playing. Status : ongoing ; Character : Hellwen (@hellwen-ward)
The guild : this is a game where we all have different characters that are all part of an important guild. We get to pick which character we want to play at the beginning of the scenario! We didn't really settle if this is the same reality then Anatazérïn or not. Status : ongoing, occasional playing ; Characters : Sal'aäd and Nikita (@salaad-dronnoc, @nikita-deimos)
Clairval prequel : That's a game we played a few times, it's a prequel from Anatazérïn! Status : paused ; Character : Lalwen (she doesn't have a page since we played only two scenarios with them, and so far the GM has no plans with them)
Champions
Champions main : we didn't really named this one, we just call it "Champions". This game is still ongoing, and we are about to start a big campaign for it, with two parallel teams (A and B probably). The GM decided to split the players because there are too many of us now, but since I'm drawing the comics and have two characters, I'll get to be in both! Status : ongoing ; Characters : Captain Glucose and Rubisco Boy, After Eight (@captain-glucose, @captain-glucose-sidekick, @the-after-eight)
Young Justice : here, we play young students learning heroism, a bit like in "My Hero Academia" (well that's what they told me). Compared to the regular game, it's a different reality in the future, where Captain Glucose became the principal of the school (for exemple). Status : ongoing ; Character : Propaganda (@propaganda-hero)
Borderline : one of our player wanted to try GMing a darker version of Champions, where the heroes are more borderline and break laws, even kill ennemies, unlike the regular version. We consider it like a third reality of Champions. Status : paused ; Character : Crimson Columbine (she doesn't have a blog because the GM stopped and stopped most TTRPGs so I doubt that I'll play her again, and we only had two scenarios)
Alea : this is actually the version of Champions GMed by a different guy, I created After Eight for this game to be honest. This is not "Z-Heroes canon" at all, but it's worth mentionning, I had a lot of fun ! We played with an association, and always had different players trying the game ! Status : stopped ; Character : After Eight (@the-after-eight)
Dofus
We were playing a bunch of kids here, we play occasionally, but recently started a campaign. Status : ongoing ; Character : Tony (@tony-redrum)
Würm
We were playing a group of prehistoric people, online. Status : stopped ; Character : Beihd-Aig (no blog)
Harry Potter
A group of new students arrive in Hogwarts, five years after the books' setting... Status : to come ; Character : Noria M. Helveticus (@noria-helveticus)
Demon Slayer
Before the events of the manga, we are playing young slayers that just did their exam in the mountain (that was the first scenario). Status : ongoing ; character : Morri (@morrigan-sahar)
Final Fantasy XIV
Can't wait to start this game ! We don't know much about it yet, but with @lapatatecosmique-ttrpg we planned something cool for our characters that are going to be pirates ! Status : upcoming ; character : E'Calix Nunh (@e-calix)

Von Düsseldorf nach München …. Schnelllebige Zeit.

How do Würm and Primal Quest look? I've been looking for a good stone age fantasy game that would be easy to learn.
Hey there! So I have read both, but played neither (I have a Primal Quest game in the pipe but we've had trouble getting together).
I think both are somewhat easy to learn, but I think Primal Quest Essentials is somewhat easier to pick up and start playing with little hassle.
And this character sheet is FUCKING BEYOND COOL
Tumblr media
Primal Quest Essentials is Free and is everything you need to play, it explains the simple d6 system, how to create characters and how to resolve combat and actions. It is an OSR game, which means that it can be a little light on details beyond the basic system, leaving a lot of individual situations to be resolved with a table discussion or GM ruling guided by the basic rules.
Primal Quest, by default, has a somewhat pulp feeling of the paleolithic, it is a "weird" stone and sorcery game, meaning there is a lot of odd stuff in there, such as aliens (or im told when the full Primal Quest releases includes things like time travelers and robots), these of course are easily left out of any game you want to run, however the sample hex crawl ("Mother's Vale") provided in essentials does feature a crashed alien ship that is corrupting the surrounding area.
The character creation is simple and straightforward, it says "human or non human" characters are permitted but leaves it at that, so the group i'm getting ready to play with actually is a human shaman, a talking sabretooth tiger and a intelligent but non-speaking deinonychus. I am assured by the creator that all of these things are within the design realm of the game, but again, if you want a more historical fantasy vibe, you can easily limit the characters to cro-magnon, Neanderthal and whatever else you deem fitting to your setting (if any).
I also would strongly suggest using the cheaply priced The Cave of Our People, a short "Dream crawl" session that is made to introduce players to the game and prepare them for a hex-crawl in Mother's Vale.
You can see some discussion on test sessions for Primal Quest to get an idea how the creator runs things and engages with the game here.
And there is an actual play of the game (that I honestly should watch myself) here
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
FINALLY for primal quest, there is a Foundry module, if you are one to use Foundry, and thats cool, HOWEVER, it is currently out of date, and the system it is built upon looks like it may be destined to never update. That means you will need to roll back your edition of Foundry to play it. On a self hosted system this can be very annoying, but if you use forge to host (like I do), you can roll the foundry server back to the right server version (doing so on foundry will not impact your current games)
You want Server version 0.8.9
Tumblr media
If you would like to use the World Explorer module for the hexcrawl while using Primal Quest, you will similarly need to install an earlier version so that it is compatible with Server 0.8.9
You want Version 0.1.1 of World Explorer
Tumblr media
Würm
I also like Würm lot it looks interesting, it is more beefy in resolution (a lot of individual actions for specific situations, tables and characters to determine what successes and failures mean for some), a more variable character creation set up. It is still, imo, fairly easy to learn and play, but I'd want to bring some quick reference sheets with actions and would require a little more involvement and choices during character creation.
I however have spent so much time talking about Primal Quest, that I feel it would be better to do one for Würm in a seperate thing.
If you feel up to it shoot me a similar ask focusing on Würm so I remember and I'll happilly try to drop a review when I get a minute!

Y'all ever think that pre-Martinaise Harry might have had a hobby of writing poetry: Residual from when he was a child? He wanted to be a poet when he was a child. And he is not one. But that doesn't mean he can't keep writing.
Imagine if he has a collection of poetry stashed somewhere at home. Imagine post-amnesia Harry finding them and reading them. Pieces of his history, written in poetry by a blocky, tired hand and snuck onto typewriter paper at work.
Would it be painful or cathartic? These are the ones that he'd kept--what of the ones that he tossed away, dissatisfied with the message or the theme or the scheme?
Yes, there's a lot of poetry about pain and heartbreak and corpses, but there's also one about how the subway system is a colony of würms and another about flying whales and another about how he'll never go to La Delta and a lot about disco. Sees a cute cat while on a case and writes a small haiku about it later because it sticks in his mind. Poetry about his 24 or more refractions and his abstract mind. Poetry about the fifteenth indotribe and childhood nostalgia. Poetry about loving Revachol.
Anyway Harry writing poetry and prose is so neat to me. I think some part of him still wanted to become a poet, but he knew how impossible it'd be with his financial and class situation. I think that's who Raphaël Ambrosius Costau was to him: A cool pen name his child self dreamed of writing under.
May have written a few poems and a prose piece (low-key from Toast to the Pigs perspective) and may be debating on posting them...

Hello! I have two (separate) genres im interested in recs for, if youve got them (though combined would be fascinating tbh): Horror and farming sim-like ttrpgs. Horror im sure is fairly common, just not in my circles (which are adventure fantasy based); farming sim though seems like it may be rarer? for that id be interested in either solo or with 2+ people
Theme: Horror Games
Hello friend, I’m going to let one of my older posts do some of the heavy lifting, and point you towards the Small Town Farming collection I put up back in 2022.
You are absolutely right that Horror is much easier to recommend, but I’ll also try and put some quick recs for solo-farming type games at the bottom of this post.

1978: The Night They Came Home, by World Champ Game Co.
1978: The Night THEY Came Home is a 1-2 player horror roleplaying game telling the story of a fateful showdown between Survivor (a clever and resilient person caught up in horrifying circumstances) and Slasher (a legendary force of evil). Using a deck of poker cards, dual rule books, varied resources, and shared play space, players will recount the events of a forsaken Halloween, zooming closer into the haunting folklore of a small Midwestern town and its inhabitants, and culminating in a violent battle for survival.
Here is a game for solo gamers and folks who want a more intimate experience. If you’re a fan of Friday the 13th, this is probably in your wheelhouse! 1978 has a win condition, meaning that either the Survivor or the Slasher will come away as the victor, and the fact that this is also a game that depends on a deck of cards means that I think this might also be a good game for folks who also enjoy card games and board games.
Vast Grimm, by Infinite Black.
EACH MISERABLE DAY THAT PASSES, THE UNIVERSE INCHES CLOSER TO ITS INEVITABLE DEMISE.
Vast Grimm is a stand-alone, art-filled, punk-fueled OSR role-playing game about the few humans remaining in a universe being consumed by growing parasitic würms.
Are you a MAnchiNe ravaged by war, pieced together with remnants of bots and the little flesh left of your body? Maybe you're a twisted biochemist shoving needles into your arms in hopes that this next fix will be the one that saves you and what’s left of humanity? Or perhaps you are a soul survivor, like a cockroach, doing whatever is necessary to stay alive even if it means the rest of your Legion must perish.
This is a game about survival, no matter how gruesome things get, humanity must survive.
If you’ve heard of MÖRK BORG and thought it was cool, and if you want the same kind of energy but in a sci-fi future full of mutant animals and horrific parasites, then you might want to check out Vast Grimm. Your characters will have to ration food, energy and ammo in an unending battle against the worms. This game looks to have a large amount of support, from expanded content, to a number of adventures, to an online character generator. For over-the-top violence, plenty of alien goo, and shambling pathetic characters that look like they might fall apart at any moment, try out Vast Grimm.
The Lost Bay, by IKO.
What Is The Lost Bay? The Lost Bay is a Suburban Gothic tabletop RPG se199X. The Lost Bay is also the name of the setting where the game takes place: a coastal suburb inspired by films and media from the 80s and 90s. In it you play as a young person touched by the Weird, an ancient force that gives you supernatural powers. You roam the Bay with your gang, its malls, arcade games shops, skateparks and beaches, and fight the Horror that has awakened.
The Lost Bay is a game for folks who like their horror drenched in 90’s nostalgia. Characters are archetypal, and each one comes with special powers. Using your powers is exciting and effective, but also brings you closer to Scars, horrible truths about the world around you that will irrevocably change your hometown.
The Lost Bay is great for planning heists, rescuing friends, and trying to get out of dodge when the going gets rough. It’s not about fighting your way out, but more about trying to keep you and your loved ones safe. A lot of game designers have had a riot putting together adventures for this game, which you can check out in this game jam. The link above is for the Kickstarter, but in case you see this game after the campaign finishes, you can also check the game out on Itch.
Flyover Country, by Headstone Hills.
Fields of wheat and corn ripple in the wind, hungry eyes peering out between the stalks. Billboards along the road advertise strange and dangerous attractions. Smiles are too wide, manners too polite, secrets buried too deep. The neon light of a diner glows in the distance, but you may never reach its doors. An empty highway stretches out to the horizon, then wraps back in around itself. This is Flyover Country.
Flyover Country is a Midwest road-tripping horror role-playing game for 4-6 players: one gamemaster, or Watcher, and 3-5 players, or Drifters. It is designed to be played in one setting and without prep. It only requires paper, writing utensils, and a tarot deck.
This is a great option for a group where the GM is uneasy about doing a lot of prep. While one person acts as the Watcher, much of the events in this game are simply generated by drawing tarot cards from a deck. Characters will also draw from the Major Arcana to determine what their secret is - and what special ability it has given them. This is a game of hidden information, and grinding your characters down towards a tragic or grisly end.
Gravemire, by Clawhammer Games.
Gravemire is a tabletop roleplaying game about death, growth, horror, and survival, based in an original mechanical framework and set in the churning waters of the Louisiana bayou circa 1894. Players slip into the roles of outsiders arriving in the town of Scarstone, a rural outpost that has been warped by a terrible transformation known as the Convulsion. Once, Scarstone was surrounded by similar towns. The Bayou once had an end. Now, unknowable numbers of horrors seep through the uncharted backwaters, strange magic contorts reality to its whims, and the settlements that called Scarstone their neighbour jut half-ruined from the mire like bones from a wound. Times have changed.
Gravemire is a pretty brutal game, not afraid to kill your character and steal their soul. The town of Scarstone is a trap; your characters wandered in one day through curiosity or the desire for adventure, but leaving the town isn’t nearly as easy. Characters are built using a point-buy system, and as you play you may acquire more skill - but you will also acquire Aversions, which sap your Willpower and inhibit your ability to muster through the worst of what the game can throw at you.
If you want to check out an abbreviated version of the game, you can check out the Kickstarter playkit here.
Under the Autumn Strangely, by Graham Gentz.
"Under the Autumn Strangely" is a storytelling game of pastoral horror priming with anachronistic Americana set in a land that Never Was.
Inspired by "Over the Garden Wall" created by Patrick McHale, players collaboratively create a world uncanny and old. Codify and encourage tonal clash as the Three Roles meld whimsy, autumnal melancholy, and dread.
Take a wrong turn on a dusty road. Follow the sign past the red barn with peeling paint. Doubt your senses.
Get a little lost.
Welcome to the Never Was.
From what I understand about this game, it works best with three players, as there are three roles that the participants are expected to embody. One person plays the Arcadian, who embodies the landscape and setting. One person plays the Traveller, who acts as a “main” character. One person plays the Terror, which grows to dominate the story. Each role can only add to to one role’s suggestions, and can only deny the other’s. If you want to mix your horror with nostalgia and a romanticized vision of the rural USA, you might want to check out Under the Autumn Strangely.
The Facility, by Galen Pejeu.
You awaken, cold and in the dark. Fumbling around by low blue lights in a coffin shaped pod. You pull yourself out of the box, and in the dark see the faces of others. You are all wearing loose fitting white clothing and laceless shoes. Hospital patients?
You peer into the dark, seeing little but hearing the sound of dripping, running water and distant machinery. You gather what you can, knowing that something is hunting you. It will be here soon.
Wait.
Can you remember who you are?
The Facility is a game for any number of players, taking on the role of ordinary people, stripped of their memories and trapped in a hostile and insane labyrinth of machines and interdimensional weirdness.
The Facility places your crew into an unknown place full of machines that want to kill you. It’s great for high-action scenes, and since your characters have lost their memories, I think the struggle to find pieces of who you are (or were) is a great way to zoom in and make the horror personal. The game is Breathless, so expect your character’s gear and/or abilities to slowly wear down over time, and for the staked to get bigger every time you pause to try and re-stock. If you want a science-fiction twist to your horror game, check out The Facility.
