Yknow it really kills me that the presence of Irene was so underutilized for fleshing out Rua'ans as a continent, and how Aphmau being Irene's reincarnation would be legit so impactful. The idea that you are the reincarnation of a god, the idea that you are no longer a person but a vessel to people, a replacement who has to fix the beautifully fucked up world that god left behind. We shouldve gotten more regions or people who were antagonistic towards Irene, viewing her as a bad person/deity. Imagine the character arc Aphmau could've had, the guilt of Irene's actions and even if she isn't Irene, she bears the guilt of her mistakes knowing that she bears her relic. On that note, we really needed a character or hell, an entire arc of learning more about Shad and his followers. He's just generic evil guy but whoops hes actually reasonably pissed his wife killed their daughter cus she was emoblogging, but we dont have anyone acknowledging Shad or his divinity. It's so weird we never get to learn more about him outside of god of destruction, despite being Irene's equal and not being an inherently evil force. Imagine an arc about Shad's followers, what kind of people they are and how they're treated by the large majority of Irene followers. Like, instead of the Aaron-is-Shad-arc (sorry to the 10 Aaron stans out there😔), we had a plotline that went something like this: Shad had human followers who ventured alongside him to the Nether where they established their own unique culture and way of life in something so inhospitable as the Nether. Descendants of the follows would venture back to the Overworld and be treated like shit, yet Irene would do nothing for this plight cus shes too busy emoblogging about her rizz backfiring, because shes grown so apathetic towards man she views their issues beneath them. Where these people were forced to scatter across the region and/or be assimilated into Irene's faith for the sake of self preservation. An antagonist who fights against the world Irene made because its fundamentally a broken and rotten one. Give me a character who has EVERY reason to despise Irene and the world she created, who was hurt by her. Give me an arc where Aphmau must confront the consequences of Irene's actions. Give me the Irene haunts the narrative arc that we deserved.
