jumping on the excuse to do this from @ceph-the-ghost-writer (post here). it’s been a minute, but I really want to do this for claws honestly, as a little treat~

What was the first part of your WIP that you created?

The characters - Vivien and Rainier are based on the modern AU versions of Vizaeth and Pharaun from my Obsession fic series, so they were the entry point for the story. I guess also wet was kind of a first foray into the story; it’s Viz/Pharaun modern AU fic, but it sort of has the Vibes that later became claws.

If your story was a TV show, what would the intro song be?

I’d want it to be a dark cover of a love song, like the Happy Together cover by Filter I have on my wip-playlist. Something that originally is very sweet and loving, turned sinister.

Who are your favourite character(s) and why?

Vivien my beloved <3 <3 <3

He’s the main character, and I just love everything about him. He’s got the most specific worldview I’ve written (aside from Vizaeth) and he’s got very particular ways of seeing and interpreting the world that are so fascinating to me. His dichotomy of victim/villain is so juicy, and his high emotions make his reactions to everything 10x more interesting.

Plus he’s a transmasc nightmare murderboy, which is my favourite, AND he’s a scrubby little punk/goth kid. All around delicious.

What other pieces of media could share a fanbase with your WIP?

NBC Hannibal would have a fun amount of fan crossover, I think. Maybe Interview with the Vampire. claws has a lot of messy queers in it, i think those fandoms would have fun with them.

What has been your biggest struggle while writing your WIP?

Getting it drafted without worry too much about realism - resisting the urge to go research instead of write. It’s drafted now, and I have a lot of problems to solve with it now, so that’s the new struggled - fixing all the issues discovery drafting for the first time in over a decade has cause me :p

Are there any animals in your story?

Spiders! Lots and lots of spiders! Which is going to be so much fun to research for accuracy, because I don’t actually enjoy spiders very much in real life. I’m better with them than I used to be, but yeah. This is a very arachnophilic book and I…am not that.

How do your characters get around?

claws is in a modern setting, so they use contemporary transport - cars mostly feature. Rainier has a too-expensive BMW with a vanity plate because he’s That Kind of Asshole.

What parts of your WIP are you working on right now?

Currently it’s marinating, so next steps are: reading/devouring lots of Relevant Media to help with vibes, doing research for areas of the book I just kind hand-waved (some science things, aforementioned spiders, various medical bits and pieces…there’s a lot), and later re-outlining it for a neater first draft out of the messy zero draft I have right now.

What aspects of your WIP do you think will draw people in?

the fact that it’s messy queer horror about toxic love. judging by the comments on my wip intro, that’s the thing people seem to like! i do also hope that the characters will captivate readers as much as they’ve captivated me. i’d love for people to be as obsessed with Vivien and Rainier’s fucked-up deal as I am.

S5 Casturbation happens every time he's alone bc for the first time, Cas feels [horny]. And Dean walks in (natch) and "helps him out ;)" and then Cas is like okay now you and Dean's like nah I don't like that✌we good? Round 2? And Cas is like. OKAY!

It's mostly just to. Well to have more Casturbation which is always a good thing in my books but also to say I love you stone tops you are wonderful and I love you pillow princesses you are also wonderful and everyone's needs should be respected in sex without a second thought.

And it's about having a laff:

I used to do a LOT of Tales of Arcadia (Cartoons) but a few things happened in the show / movie that made me feel... idk, I'm on a bit of a break for the time being. I also write a couple of Dungeons & Dragons (Roleplaying Game) fics to explore my silly DnD OCs While my current writing obsessions being Discworld - Terry Pratchett and モブサイコ100 | Mob Psycho 100

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do!! I try to respond to all comments!! I can't always promise my response will be prompt, and sometimes I get in my own head and feel...worried? As if my response will somehow sway someone to not want to keep reading? But that's a me thing I'm working through Long answer short: Yes! I do respond to comments!! I adore them and they make me so very very happy!! Honestly a comment can be such a game changer, and a relief to my heart and I just HAVE to express my gratitude for taking the time to tell me such nice words!! I'll always try to respond to them!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm I have yet to finish the fic with the angstiest ending planned. I don't tend to write angst unless there is an ending that has some level of hope and happiness in it - for now.

But yeah, I suppose Unbecoming 2 Electric Boogaloo and The Last Changeling will eventually have some pretty angsty endings.

As well as several fics within the The Collected Tellings of Shigir and Other Changeling Folktales series which can be quite grim.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Another tricky question!! The majority my fics tend to have a happy ending planned despite the highs and lows I hope I manage to put my readers through.

Bit of a cop out answer I know, but it is what it is lol

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've only had that happen to me once lol. Once so far and for the silliest reason that left me just shaking my head for the most part

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Not as often as my other stuff though. Hmm quite a bit of orgasm control I suppose.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

IVE WRITTEN ONE CROSSOVER AND ITS MY FAVORITE AND I HOPE THE STARS ALIGN FOR ME TO FINISH IT!!!

A Funny Old World MY BELOVED!!! It is essentially the Discworld and Mp100 crossover fic no one asked for hahaha

Not that...I'm aware of...

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Again not that I'm aware of...and no one has yet to approach me to do so. Though sometimes I think of translating it myself into Italian.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have! It was a great time with @megan0013 on the 23rd chapter of their fic Fallout where we combined the Fallout story with my made up Changeling Folktales.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I'm too bisexual for this question, I have, like, a fat stack of ships I adore. But of the ones I've written (in no specific order of importance) I really love Adora Belle and Moist, Serizawa and Reigen, Barbara and Strickler, Mort and Ysabell, Polly and Mal, and the list just goes on haha

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I don't think I appreciate the defeatist tone of this question haha. I'm sure I'll finish all of them...eventually. Some go in hibernation a little longer than others, that I won't lie. Hmm though, I'm going to be honest with myself the Terpsichore series seems to be the loftiest of goals at the moment. Who even knows when I'll finally finish it...but, like I said, I'd like to hold out hope that, someday it'll get done lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm quite good at keeping characters in character, and my writing 'voice' is quite charming sometimes. I've also been told I'm quite good at writing cozy comfort fics. I hope, one day, I'll be able to add horror and suspense to the list of writing strengths.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Making things concise, I think. Sweet short and to the point. I'd love to get better at suspense and horror, just making readers sweat - you know?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Oh man I have a lot of Thoughts about this actually XPP here's hoping they make sense!!

Depends on the characters, and what language they are speaking and what language the characters know beyond what they are speaking.

I viscerally do not appreciate it when, okay... here's an example: Character A and Character B are both speaking Italian, because the characters are Italian - so even though the fic and author is writing in English we ALL know that Character A and Character B are speaking Italian - so why add in an English dialogue bits of actual Italian?? We all know they are speaking Italian to begin with!! UNLESS, for instance, Character B for a moment spoke in a regional dialect which is different than the standard language.

I tend to call this the "Silenzio Bruno!" situation. Why are you having a character who is supposedly already speaking in a language suddenly say something of that language. It shouldn't be "Silenzio Bruno!" but "Quiet Bruno!" though in some cases I get it...and who knows maybe it'll perk up the interest of people and kids to learn other languages but oof does it rub me the wrong way sometimes

OKAY

EXAMPLE: In Glow Worms I have Serizawa as half Brazilian (there's in fact a huge Brazilian population within Japan! As well as a huge Japanese population within Brazil! Here are two fascinating video essays on the subject if interested [X] [X]).

When Serizawa is speaking with Reigen it is clear and obvious they would speak Japanese amongst themselves and around them, I wouldn't include actual Japanese unless it's a word that I can't really translate well, or is very clearly specific within the Japanese language (the difference between writing 'screen door' and 'shoji door' - both doors, but evoke different specific things). However, when Serizawa speaks with his mother there are often times Portuguese would crop up - an indicator that Serizawa is no longer speaking Japanese in that moment, or phrase or sentence.

The same can be said with Moist von Lipwig, and when he's speaking Morporkian vs Überwaldian. It is agreed that everyone tends to speak Morporkian to some degree as a defect-o Lingua Franca Quirma, and when they're not they're very clearly not!

NOW! In those moments when characters are speaking another language I prefer either it's something that can be figured out via context clues, or a translation is provided either in a footnote or by the character(s) themselves. This is something I feel more confident with if a character is speaking Italian, because then I don't have to worry about translator engines not translating something properly lol But I try to be as respectful and accurate as possible, and if I can't then I wouldn't attempt it and describe in the text that Character A and Character B are speaking another language amongst themselves.

OR (and this is something else I'm doing in Glow Worms) I'll describe a character speaking another language, and another character acts as translator - this is something I always adored in Discworld when characters interact with The Librarian as well as Death of Rats.

Which, again, I try to approach as respectfully as possible. Language is important!! It's a culture and a thought process! And should always be treated with respect

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

I don't know about Favorite, but there are several that I'm very proud of myself with...

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Stupid Kid [working title] series, Hand Rolled, The Runaway's Gamble, AU REVOIR, to name a few. Several Trollhunter fics (especially Terpsichore, sometimes I look back on that and go "Wow I really wrote All of THAT?!")

And most recently: Glow Worms or rather: In the Depths of the Safflower Hills a fic that honestly? I find myself going back and rereading what I've written and posted more than once! And has helped me grow as a writer I think

Whats one plot line in AGAD that got abandoned in the final draft?

Whoooo boy. I’d like to say that most of AGAD is original, but there are parts that haven’t been posted yet where a lot was rewritten and reordered. As for the stuff that is already published (no one is reading these so like meh about spoilers), Bear wasn’t supposed to be captured like I said on Star’s ask, and the extent of Hazard’s backstabbing was just supposed to be his sabotage of Jake’s plane.

The reason that was changed?

Hazard and Bear had been a couple some time back and he hated the attention that Bear was giving Jake. But something about it grossed me out and I felt that his motivation was undermining Bear’s whole character. She is a strong female character that is capable of being vulnerable, see chapters 7 and 9, as well as the typical female character you see in action movies. Basically I felt that making her and Hazard exes ruined the whole plot, so I changed it to jealousy and upped the level of betrayal to what it is so that both Bear and Hazard could be well rounded characters.

Because who doesn’t love a true villain?

Imma stop now because I can and will keep rambling about this for hours 😅

i have 3 partially drafted bullet point written wips, and 2 pinterest boards developed for smau’s! nothing too concrete, but a lil start which is exciting 🫶🏻

1. What is the title of your WIP?

My main one is called Kindly Stopped for Me, which is a reference to a line from this Emily Dickinson poem. It's one of my favorite poems of all time and was the first thing I thought of when I came up with the idea for this fic!

I'm also working on a Lily-centric one-shot, which hopefully will be posted soon! It's called The Thing With Feathers, and that title is also inspired by Emily Dickinson. Specifically this poem.

7. Did you plot your WIP before you started writing, or are you pantsing it?

I wrote and published the first five chapters, and then spent an entire day plotting out the full story! I have a detailed outline of the whole thing now, so I have a plan for what I'm going to write in each chapter before I start it. Some things might change, though, as I keep writing! But I know how I want it to end, which is great because I can focus on ✨foreshadowing✨

18. Do you have any faceclaims/picrews for your characters?

I don't have any faceclaims, but I did spend a ton of time messing around with picrew, so....

Lily, Harry, Sirius, Remus (not exactly how I picture Remus, but as close as I could get on picrew)

22. Favorite friendship in your WIP?

IT'S SO HARD TO PICK JUST ONE!

Damn.

I love them all, but if I have to choose...I'll say Lily and Remus. I see him as her rock, in a lot of ways, always there to ground her. But Sirius and Lily's friendship is a close second. They're so special to me!

Also Sirius and Harry❤️❤️ But that's more of a parent & child dynamic in my mind.

36. What is the message you want readers to take away from your WIP?

Wow...this is a deep one haha. Is it too cheesy to say "the power of love and friendship?" Probably😂

I'm not sure about message, exactly, but there are a bunch of themes I'm exploring as I write:

The impact of grief and trauma

Parental love in its many forms

REVENGE

Bigotry and systemic oppression (in this fic: against muggles/muggle-borns, house elves, werewolves) and how that contributes to characters' opinions about the war.

And basically just...the idea that nobody is entirely good or bad all the time, and it's the sum of the characters' choices that determines what kind of people they are.

I know that's a vague and rambling answer, but those are my thoughts at the moment. Hopefully by the time the fic is completed I'll be able to answer this more succinctly!!!

What is your favorite dialogue you’ve written so far?

“You are home here.” Stephen says. He’s admiring her from across the table, basking in a ray of sunlight. His eyes are not intrusive or hungry, they float over her form with a flicker of light. “This is my favorite place on my family’s grounds.” A blush settles on the rounds of her cheeks and she hopes it looks like it’s from the sunshine. “Forgive me,  I should do more since you’re my guest here.” “No, no—please, I much prefer this. It’s nice to see a woman at ease, less fussing about. I know it’s how we’re meant to be, but…” Stephen trails off and crooks his neck to look up at the blue sky, the breeze still playing in the waves of his hair. In the hazy light between clouds, Christine sees a heavier expression grace his face, weighed down by his silence and trapped in his own thoughts. Not quite a frown, she wonders if her own countenance has not resembled his when she considers her future as a mediocre imitation of her mother. He laughs softly to himself before meeting her curious gaze again. “Don’t let me sway you to my uncouth ideas. I nearly lose myself in the moment. Shall we walk the grounds, the lovely lady can give me a tour?”

A lot of the dialogue between Chrissy and Steve in chapter 4 let me show off Chrissy’s obsessive anxieties over presenting herself correctly, but also, especially, the excitement she allows herself to feel at the prospect of finding a better match with Harrington than douche Carver. Which also lowkey made me fall in love with the idea of the potential cuteness in steve x chrissy even though this is 100% a hellcheer story lol.

What have you been finding frustrating with writing this chapter/fic?

The editing and keeping track of b-plot lines slowly drives me insane as I’m constantly flipping between chapter docs to try to pull out the specific details I’ve garnered so far. It’s why it takes me so long to finish a chapter to begin with and then go back and edit for clarity, better diction/sentence structure, and to confirm I didn’t make a mistake with my own lore. It can get tedious to say the least.

Hmmm, well, I have an idea for an Among Us fic. It'll probably be a short, angsty, fluffy, smutty, one shot full of wonderful monsterfuckery and tropes. I have only written a single scene for it (that I couldn't get out of my head) but that's enough for me to want to write a full fic. It won't be out for a while though.

💗 Is there a scene you can't wait to write for a WIP?

Oh, yes absolutely. A couple actually. There are a couple for Surviving the Game: Level 2 and involve Marcus and The Oni... ;)

And there's a couple for the Teen Wolf/Myers/OC crossover. But that won't be getting worked on for a while :')

👻 Is there a scene that you find intimidating that you have yet to write?

A few actually. Although I'm a lot more comfortable writing smut and spicy scenes now then when I first started writing fanfiction, anything with more than two characters is still daunting. Then there's the feeling of, 'does this seem like something this character would be into/enjoy?' Writing kinks that I don't share can be a bit of a challenge because (although I have no problem with it) I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy it. Ex: STG chapter 100, when Michael finally fucks Danny and uses his knife to cut him. I hate being cut and it's not something I would ever engage in, but I have no problem with other people engaging in and enjoying it.

"Lyssa Leren is the sin of wrath and was supposed to meet up with the other seven deadly sins and virtues before going to Avaidia. Actually very little crack XD it's the temp title for a humor cold open of a whump story that I think I finally have a story for (thanks to bad things happen.) Here's the cold open in all its "glory" @lunette3002

“Jason.”

He holds up a finger – *one second* – and peers through the scope. With a quiet, steady exhale, he pulls the trigger and – *pop! smack!* Vicious swearing drifts up towards his perch and he smirks triumphantly. Deeming it safe, he slides the safety on and flops over to give his brother a winning smile.

“Dickiebird, how lovely it is to see you. To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Dick raises an unamused eyebrow. “Did you just *shoot* Tim?”

“You have no proof.” Branches cracking in the distance has him rolling his eyes. “You know, for little birdies, y’all suck at rural *everything*.”

He finally gets a huff of amusement, Dick’s lips quirking into a half smile. “That’s why we’re out here, Jay.”

“Yeah, well, no amount of capture the flag is gonna save your sorry asses when push comes to shove,” Jason retorts.

He’s already turning back to his stomach, peeking through the scope for movement. Their urban stealth lessons do jack shit out here in the woods between Bristol residences and the county line. He hears every snapped stick, every rustle of branches. He’s gotten Tim four times, and Damian only twice due to his training with the League.

It helps, though, that they weren’t expecting him to come to this shindig with a sniper rifle full of paint pellets. He grins when he spots the flash of Tim’s dark red hoodie. It widens when it disappears as quickly as it came and isn’t seen again. Good, they’re finally learning.

This onnnne is for a response to a fic prompt @hauntedpearl sent me she didn't specify the ship so I made it femslash 😎 I realised I hadn't written any JoBela since my femslash big bang fic and that's clearly wrong. I think Doe wanted something cute but uhh. Haha. The only thing that was coming to mind for 'hiding your face from the world in the other person's neck' was that something had gone Wrong on a hunt so it's hurt/comfort. Oops...

Bela is doing hotgirl thief stuff and she drives around in stolen cars with Jo, who, separately, goes on hunts and if one finds a job the other has a break at their hotel room to get that work/life balance everyone on supernatural is garbage at. And they're in love. I keep getting stuck on describing the bloody messy scene Bela comes across which then is a different mindset than Comfort Time.

Might have Bela gently washing the blood off Jo in the bath though. As a caring thing rather than a sexy thing. This one's Bela's pov but it's a little more about Jo being looked after haha.

hii, 3 and 13 please! for the wip ask game

hi julia!! I'm gonna answer based on both of my WIPs bc one of them is chaptered and the other one is not and that sounds fun so let's go

3. Whose your favorite character for this chapter/fic?

in star-crossed (my fantasy fic where they're both witches from enemy covens) louis has to be my most favourite character bc while both he and harry have a developed storyline independent from each other, louis' character as a whole tugs at my heartstrings like no other. he presents himself as this cool witch that has everything under control (he's the older brother, after all, knowing what to do is his thing) but underneath all that attitude there is so much fear. fear of not being enough, fear that what he can offer is not wanted, fear that he doesn't matter. both he and harry play an important part in the story of the island they live in, but the way louis' journey and arc develops is something that is so so precious for me.

as for halloweentown (my halloween fic in which human!harry is trapped in a town full of monsters and louis helps him escape) my favourite so far is zayn. this story is shorter and a sort of comedy so it doesn't leave room for deep characterisations but gosh, i love this dumb but supportive scarecrow with. my. life. in fact, i described him as a talking burlap sack once and @moonchildreads and I still find it hard to stop laughing about it.

13. What common trope(s) do you feel are used in this chapter/fic?

in the chapter of star-crossed i'm writing now, the tropes i used so far are miscommunication, mutual pining, emotional moonlit scenes (stole this one from a tumblr list lol) and "character A looking at character B while B isn't looking"

and as for halloweentown in general we have the sweet combination of strangers to lovers, "there was only one bed", found family and the use of one (1) closet joke.
