tashi duncan x 70s jazz singer!reader
-
saturday, august 18th, 1977.
it’s late. so late, and tashi’s just now walking into the busy nightclub. clouds of cigarette smoke covers the room making it so foggy she could barely see.
“martini. dry. and i want an olive this time.”
she recites her order to waiter who approached her when she sat down. she orders the drink every time, occasionally switching the garnish, she sits in the same boot that’s far from the stage but gives her the perfect view of you.
your glowing up on stage, whether it’s because of the lights behind you hitting the sparkles on your flapper dress, or just your natural presence. your voice is like honey as you hit all the right notes. people whistle and clap for you, but tashi just watches. her drink in hand, and her eyes taking you in.
the instruments die down and your voice fades as your set comes to an end. “that’s all i have for you guys tonight, but my great friend iris will treat you right.” a tall woman walks on stage, grabbing your shoulder before taking place in front of the mic. her smooth low voice instantly fills the room.
the minute you’re off the stage you’re making way over to tashi. squeezing through the crowd of people, your eyes never leave each other’s. you slide into the booth next to her maintaining a safe distance, but in a place like this where everyone was too drunk and high too focuse tashi didn’t care about being safe. she moved closer to you, resting her hand on arm, your faces inches away.
“you looked perfect up there, love.” you let your guard down a little, leaning into tashi’s other hand that was on your cheek. but someone’s shrieking laughter caused you to remove her hand from your cheek and move back to a safer distance, suddenly remembering where you were.
“tash.”
tashi took in your change of demeanor. the way you nervously eyed everyone who walked by, how you slid your guys hands under the table so you could hold each other. “if i didn’t know any better i’d think you were ashamed of me.” she joked. you cocked your head to the side very unamused. “things are different here, tashi. it’s not like the old club, i can’t risk getting fired.”
as opposed to your old workplace, this new club was more mainstream. while it payed well and was great exposure the club was own by an older man who was… old fashioned. you saw this first hand when you watched him discretely kick out two men for getting a bit too close.
tashi sat back, nodding in understanding. “why don’t we get out of here, hm.” you gave her a small nod, and told her wait outside.
-
on your way out the club you spotted where tashi was waiting for, her head tilted up looking at the moon.
“that’s a waxing crescent.” your voice snuck up on tashi causing her to jump, but immediately relax when she saw it was you. “of course you would know that.”
the cold chicago wind blow hard against your cheeks on the walk home to your apartment. neither of you spoke, just enjoying each other’s company in the comfortable silence. with every step you took your fingers grazed one another’s, you both pretended not notice, turning away to hide your smiles like a couple of teenagers.
-
once inside the safe four walls of your apartment weights were lifted. tashi pulled off your fur coat placing a kiss on your cheek before you headed straight to your record player, restarting the needle to the beginning of your favorite record and letting the familier sound flood your home.
you headed for your kitchen turning on the coffee machine. “i’m gonna go change, i’ll be right back.” tashi gave you an absent nod, her attention focused on some pictures. when you got back, now in much for comfortable clothes, you took in your girlfriends tall, lean figure standing in your living room. her eyes were trained on a picture of you two and your dear friends art and patrick on your first christmas together. you all were wearing cheesy matching pajamas, and big smiles on your faces.
“they’re in italy right now.” you had a habit of sneaking up on her. “art said they woke up one day and had a mutual urge to just go.” you handed tashi her own mug, and leading her to sit with you on the couch so you can rest your head on her shoulder.
“we should do something like that. take a trip.” tashi said, looking down at you. “i miss you so much when i’m away.” her free hand played with your hair.
tashi was at a promising point in her tennis career which called her to be away a lot. late night phone calls and post cards were nice, but you too missed having her in the flesh.
sitting up you take your coffee mugs placing them on the table, and throwing your arms around tashi’s shoulder and your legs over hers. “i’d go any and everywhere with you, t.” she pulls you in closer, kissing you forehead then each of you cheeks, your nose, before finally placing one of your lips. “after this last opening i’m taking you to paris.”
“oh, are you?”
tashi hummed nodding, laying down on couch and taking you with her. “we’re going to get a hotel with a perfect view of the eiffel tower. two beds that we’ll push together. get absolutely stuffed on french food. visit all the jazz clubs they have to offer. fall in love with the place and then cry when it’s time to come home.”
“but we’ll visit again right?”
“of course, it be an annual thing.”
you turn your head up to look at her. “you know, i’m gonna hold to this ms.duncan. don’t let me down.” tashi gave you a playful look. “never.” you smiled at her pulling her in for another kiss. neither of you rushed it, just let your lips glide over each others. the love from your body’s flowing into one another.

North Celestial Aurora Image Credit & Copyright: Chirag Upreti
Explanation: Graceful star trail arcs reflect planet Earth's daily rotation in this colorful night skyscape. To create the timelapse composite, on May 12 consecutive exposures were recorded with a camera fixed to a tripod on the shores of the Ashokan Reservoir, in the Catskills region of New York, USA. North star Polaris is near the center of the star trail arcs. The broad trail of a waxing crescent Moon is on the left, casting a strong reflection across the reservoir waters. With intense solar activity driving recent geomagnetic storms, the colorful aurora borealis or northern lights, rare to the region, shine under Polaris and the north celestial pole.

Moon phases & personality
By @tsublue / All Rights Reserved to @tsublue

Photo creds: @minimalist_acount ~ Pinterest; me; @jackiedibs ~ Pinterest
There’s a total of 7 main phases the moon goes through before starting a new cycle to repeat it all over again.
Each phase has it’s own characteristics that can be relevant to the person being born under the phase.
New Moon
Soul searching throughout whole life, misunderstood/ hard to understand, awareness for surroundings and strong mental psyche.
That can also mean they are creative and spontaneous.
Child- like behavior in a way in other’s eyes. Everything new.
To reach your full potential you need to balance out your bursts of energy for it to last evenly and for it to not run out so fast so it can result in being tired overall and unmotivated.
Waxing Crescent
Positivity, adventure, taking action and working towards goals, motivated & curious.
Leaning towards on the ‘self- care’ personality and outlook.
To develop it you need to step out of your comfort zone and make yourself uncomfortable from time- to time in order to grow as a person.
First Quarter
Mental strength, competent, restless, can be work oriented - restless.
Impatience, takes on risks, passionate, inquisitive and communicative.
The protagonist of your own life.
If you can develop the art of patience to complement your strong personality, you will reach your full potential.
Waxing Gibbous
Caretaker, perfectionist philosophical, successful relationships, motivated & calming.
You need to surround yourself with people who truly care for and love you. There’s a need to develop a sense of intuition/ knowledge to spot people trying to overly dominate or use you.
Can be an amazing mentor/ guide for others.
Full Moon
Extremes, aggression, thinking with head instead of heart, desires
(Astrological natal sun and moon are in a conflict.)
To reach your full potential you need to realize you have even control over your actions and thoughts. Working out your power and abilities will lead you to success.
Waning Crescent
Posessions, talents, knowledge, imagination, psyche, dreams.
Since the phase is the one that’s gone through all it has gathered a lot of wisdom and learned & gathered a lot.
There can be a connection with the spiritual side even if it’s not realized.
There can be isolation involved due to connection with spirituality and intuition even observing so in order to reach your highest potential you need to share your thoughts and even maybe mentor those in need. Trying to get out there and reducing isolation can be beneficial.
Waning Gibbous
Wise, communication, spirituality, reflections, endings, seeking for higher knowledge and understanding. The mentor.
To become the best version of yourself you need to learn to be as understanding of others. Let others add their ideas and opinions too.
Third Quarter
Holding onto the past, attachment, kindness, loyalty, absentmindedness.
People may describe you as too in the clouds or inside your own world.
In order to grow obviously you need to learn to let go of the past and let yourself create the new memories instead of repeating the same ones like a broken record.
!! The phases are not forcefully trying to put you in a box or label. There can be aspects of it that can be relevant, but not for someone to base their whole personality or existence off of it or follow it at all cost.
Please do not copy, rewrite, repost, steal and etc any of my work. If wanted to use parts of it then contact the author and always give credits.

The Harley and 片われ月 (katawarezuki)
I probably sound like a broken record at this point but I really have become obsessed with this word from the Harley
I read Artur Library of Ohara's word-by-word explanation of the Harley and the part about the katawarezuki annoyed me so much:
片われ月 = Waning/crescent Moon. Attributed to “voices”. 片われ月 literally means “half-broken Moon”, but particularly is an archaic/poetic term to refer to to a waning or crescent Moon, where it looks as if it were broken by having an indentation (this is most likely referring to the people of the Kouzuki clan, as the crescent Moon was their symbol, such as on Oden’s vest). Viz translated this as “half-Moon”, but this is a different term than the “half-Moon” used earlier. The Half-Moon, the Moon, and the Crescent Moon are all different terms here, likely referring to different people (likely the D. clan, Lunaria, and Kouzuki clan). Some have noted this term had been used in a previous chapter title for Ch.292, but that was simply referring to the phase of the Moon as quoted in an old Japanese poem and is thus most likely unrelated (a synonymous term is also used for Ch.28 for similar reasons, just referring to the Moon) [emphasis (and extra paragraph break) mine]
Firstly, as a disclaimer: he could be completely right about this being a reference to the Kozuki Clan for all I know. There's some evidence to support that. Obviously there's a "moon" in their name, the symbol of their supporters was a crescent moon, they carved the poneglyphs which are associated with "voices" that Roger was able to hear, etc.
Secondly, to get the boring nitpicking out of the way: calling 片われ月 (katawarezuki) a "synonym" of 三日月 (mikazuki) is wild. It kinda smells of him just trying to push for more evidence for his Kozuki theory since the Kozuki moon is also referred to as 逆三日月 (sakasa mikazuki) AKA "reverse crescent moon". It's the C shaped crescent moon 🌘 that shows up in both chapter 28 (a chapter which is named 三日月 / Crescent Moon) and chapter 973, as well as the symbol of the Kozuki clan and their supporters. Oden himself wears a crescent moon curving the other way: 🌒
Mikazuki means a crescent moon, most typically a waxing crescent moon 🌒 (it literally translates as third-day-moon AKA the third day after new moon). It can't be used to mean "half-moon" and it technically doesn't apply for a waning moon either, although I think nowadays people do just use it for any kind of crescent moon because it's a set phrase.
Katawarezuki on the other hand is defined as "moon that is half or less illuminated" and it seems to be associated mostly with the waning phases (though not necessarily). Calling katawarezuki "a waning or crescent moon" is only true by technicality; it can be used to mean a waning moon and it can be used to mean a crescent moon, but again it's almost like Artur is intentionally ignoring the also very possible (and more typical) "half-moon" meaning to reinforce his own theory that it's about the Kozuki clan.
But that's all fine, whatever. I'm just nitpicking.
What actually pissed me off, though, is that last part about the poem referenced in chapter 292:
but that was simply referring to the phase of the Moon as quoted in an old Japanese poem and is thus most likely unrelated
Okay. So he doesn't mention what the poem is, or what the chapter is, so let me explain it here (even tho I already did briefly in my longer post)
The chapter is this one:
It's the end of the Noland and Kalgara backstory. It's Jaya being broken in two pieces with the village and the city of Shandora being flown up into the sky, it's Noland returning to Jaya only to find half of it missing along with his dear friend, it's Noland being executed, it's Kalgara's desperation to ring the bell again to let Noland know he's still here.
The chapter is called あふことは片われ月の雲隠れ / To Meet, like the Half-Moon Hidden by Clouds
As Artur points out, it's a quote from a medieval Japanese poem:
逢ふことは片割れの雲隠れおぼろけにやは人の恋しき
Which is about longing to meet someone you love, using the metaphor of a half-moon (katawarezuki) hidden by clouds.
The word katawarezuki reinforces the message, because 片割れ (kataware) on its own is used to mean a piece that belongs to a larger whole. Like one half of a pair. It can be used for people too, like for one twin, one lover, one spouse, words that even in singular imply that there has to be another one.
It's a "lonely moon" that's missing its other half.
In contrast, chapter 289 is called Full Moon. This is another very particular term, not 満月 (mangetsu) which is the usual word for full moon (and also the title of another One Piece chapter), but 望月 bōgetsu, which is the moon on the 15th night of the lunar month, when the moon is a perfect circle. Not just a full moon but the full moon at its fullest.
The first character 望 (bō) also means "hope; wish; desire".
This is the chapter in question:
It's Kalgara killing his own god to save Noland. It's Noland and Kalgara becoming friends.
So the full moon (bōgetsu) represents their friendship, and the half-moon (katawarezuki) represents their separation.
Now, why am I annoyed about Artur calling all of this "unrelated"?
idk, call me crazy, but I feel like the fact that every chapter of the Harley ends with a line about either not being able to meet or surely meeting this time might have some kind of a thematic connection to Noland and Kalgara.
The ancient people who were never able to meet again and who were symbolically reunited in the present by people who inherited their will.
That's not me saying it's literally about Noland and Kalgara, but could there maybe possibly be a similar story behind this poem? MAYBE? Could it at least be worth considering instead of just immediately dismissing it?
Even if Artur is correct about it being a reference to the Kozuki clan, which it might be, who knows, why wouldn't he at least ask: why use this particular word? Why not mikazuki? That's also quite a beautiful word and it relates much more closely to the Kozuki clan. Is Oda just being poetic for the sake of being poetic or is he maybe trying to convey a theme?
Could the story of the Kozuki clan's ancestors be a story of yearning for someone they loved and lost? Could that be why they carved the poneglyphs? Why wouldn't you be curious about this?
Or even if you think it has nothing to do with the poem itself, why not even consider what else it could be trying to say? If it's not about yearning, what else could it maybe be? Something broken? Something fragmented? It's such a specific and evocative word to use!
That said, from what I can tell, that theme of loneliness and yearning is a very common association with the word katawarezuki even outside of that particular poem. In my research I found a couple of songs also called 片割れ月 (different spelling but same word) which, while very different in vibes, were both about broken hearts and loneliness
youtube
youtube
That last one has a very similar sentiment to these lines from Binks' Sake:
手をふる影に もう会えないよ 何をくよくよ 明日も月夜
No longer can we now see, shadow hands still waving free. Why worry, there's sure to be a moonlit night again. (Viz translation)
(More literally something like this: Shadows waving their hand, we can never meet them again / What are you moping about, tomorrow will be another moonlit night)
Which incidentally also connects this theme of never being able to meet again with the moon.
The thing is, separation and connection are both incredibly important themes in One Piece, and I know Artur himself knows this because I've read his "Ultimate One Piece Theory".
So, in conclusion: all of this drives me absolutely insane and I can't believe anyone would just call it "most likely unrelated"....

Average number of life series deaths for each moon phase during recording
(e.g. 6 kills during a full moon out of 35 total kills in the whole season -> 17%)
There has never been a episode recorded on the day of a 1st quarter moon (and there probably won't be next season, unless it continues until January 10th)
Real Life wasn't included because it was recorded in one day
New moons have an average of 18.75 deaths, and an average of 19.97% of the deaths in a season are during a new moon. New moons also have 14.5 average kills, making up 20.41% of the total kills
Waxing crescents have an average of 5.125 deaths and 8% of the total deaths, but waxing gibbous moons have an average of 3.6 kills, and 8% of the total kills
88% of the deaths during a waning crescent are kills by players

Mesopotamian Equinox Festivals: Akiti/Akitu(m)
𒀉𒆠𒋾
Akiti is the Sumerian word for this festival while Akitu(m) is the Akkadian word. (Link)
⭐️ Note: The Akitu festival was revived by the ethnic Assyrian people during the 20th century to celebrate their New Year starting on April 1st (Info: link)
⭐️ I wrote this so even if you only worship one Mesopotamian God it might be helpful
The source for this post is The Cultic Calendars of the Ancient Near East 1993 by Mark Cohen (Link) Its sprinkled throughout the book but there is also a dedicated chapter starting at page 400.
🌷 History 🍁
The original Akiti festival developed at Ur. They took place within the first and seventh months of the year. Months began on the first visible crescent following the new moon. The Akiti festival would coincide with the month that followed spring and fall equinox meaning the first waxing moon after each equinox. For Ur this was month 1 and month 7.
It would begin at the 1st and go through the 5th (or 7th) of the month in the spring. In the fall it goes through the 1st to the 11th of the month.
It celebrated the triumphant return of Nanna, the city's primary patron God, to the city he claimed and symbolized all the activities he would do as a ruler to put his city in order. The proper preformance of this festival would assure that the God put society in order and establishes a good fate for the city and its inhabitants.
The waxing moon at the beginning of the month had two symbols first the shape of the moon signified the shape of the boat Nanna was returning in, second as the moon fills more and more Nanna is literally physically returning.
The Akiti festival was exported and in many places became associated with the return of their city's God. But when exported the date changed depending on location and sometimes it was incorporated into local festivals.
The ancient festival survived for over 2000 years. The earliest mention being in the middle of the third millennium BCE (3000-2001 BCE) to at least 689 BCE but was apparently also recorded during the Seleucid period which conquered Babylon in 331 BCE.
It was very important to say the least. And it seems during ancient times the underlying premise stayed the same: the triumph of a city or empire's main God and the securing of good fate and blessings for the next half year.
A common aspect was the God (idol) physically dwelling in an "Akiti house" that was usually built outside the city and then the God returning to their temple. The priests would make sure proper normal offerings and rites are preformed at the Akiti house. Both parts included a procession, with the return procession being more opulent.
🌷Today 🍁
So. How on earth does one celebrate this in the 3rd millennium CE?
A few ideas:
🔹 Maintain the oldest, "original", tradition. A celebration of Nanna being triumphant and organizing society.
However, that was very Ur center and didn't necessarily equate with anywhere else in Sumer. The festival was transferred to Nippur, the Sumerian city with the greatest religious significance as the city if Enlil.
🔹Celebrate the Nippur festival because of its Sumerian religious importance
Which took place during the 4th and 12th month breaking it away from any equinox associations. It was then incorporated into pre-existing Nippur festival in Šunumun based on the "Disputation of the Plow and the Hoe (Link)" & Šekinku's celebration of the Barley Harvest. Nippur also has the best calendar to reconstruct from as it survived in later calendars, so some Sumerian polytheist groups stick to this calendar.
🔹Celebrate Another City's festival
Many cities had them, in the book to find others you have to go through each city's calendar in the book.
For example:
--Uruk Festival
Which took place at least during the 8th month to Anu, who is the highest God his name meaning Heaven and the divine marker.
--Badtibara Festival
Took place during the 7th month to Dumuzid in conjunction with "Elūlu celebration"
🔹Celebrate the festival as triumphant of the Gods of Earth rather than any city.
To adapt it to 21st century CE and a globally connected world. This could be An, heaven & sky, as the highest God; Enlil King of the Gods; or Enki as the world order-er, as commissioned by Enlil, in one myth. It probably depends on which time period you take from and whom you consider King or the highest God in relation to all of Earth.
🔹Other personalized form. Hopefully the rest of post helps you figure that out.
🌷 Aspects Of Festival 🍁
🔸Festival meaning itself:
Key ancient aspects:
A high ranking God "returning" (historically to their tutelary city) and establishing order within a city.
Gratitude to the God for their presence, protection, and good will in the past half year.
Securing good prosperity and fate by the proper celebration of that deity for the next half year.
Some modern concepts you might apply:
Return in their "sphere of influence." Enki as fresh water. Nisaba as grain/food. Utu as justice/judicial process / the sun. So on.
Return in a worshiper's life.
Return in a worshiper's home.
Celebration of a God establishing order, prosperity and/or protection.
🔸Timing:
🌒 The date in the lunisolar calendar is fixed by the day directly following the New Moon. Normally this would be when the first waxing crescent is visible to the naked eye but I use a moondial app. Mesopotamian Months To Determine the Date Link
First waxing crescent after the Spring Equinox & First waxing crescent after the Fall Equinox. This aligns with the 1st & 7th month of ancient Ur calendar
4th & 12th month of ancient Nippur calendar.
Spring & Fall equinox — Solar only
1st of the Gregorian month the equinox occurs in. Combines the civic month + equinox idea to the modern Gregorian calendar.
🔸Length of festival:
5-7 days in Spring & 11 days in Fall — Reconstructionist
1-2 days — to allow for two processions.
1 day
🔸Which God:
I've included their primary ancient cities
Nanna, Original festival, Good of Moon | Ur
An, Highest God Heaven | Uruk
Enlil, King of the Gods | Nippur
Enki, Order of Society specifically from the myth "Enki & the World Order (Link)" where Enlil commissions him to do so | Eridu
Inana, Goddess of all fertility on Earth. Many other aspects based on time & location | Uruk
Šamaš, God of the Sun and all Justice | Sippar
Marduk, Babylonian Empire's Akitu festival | Babylonia
Aššur, Assyrian Empire's Akitu festival | Aššur
[City/Empire God], if you reconstruct from a specific different Mesopotamia city or empire. Particularly if the God is exalted as establishing order in the city or empire. For example: Ninisina in Isin, Ninurta in Girsu— but these don't necessarily have historical associated Akitu festivals that are documented.
[God of your choice] while this removes it from its historical foundation it may make the celebration more applicable to your life. If you are a Mesopotamian polytheist or pagan I highly encourage you to pick one of the high Gods of the pantheon. But I thought I'd put this out there— especially for eclectics or non-Mesopotamian polytheists/pagans who want to worship a specific Mesopotamian God (Diĝir) in a symbolically proper way.
Additional Gods:
Gods in that God's retinue
Gods in the main God's family
Gods from the temple the idol was taken from and/or temples involved in the festival of that city (for example in Ur it was celebrated across 3 temples)
None
🔸Offerings:
Offerings based on the ancient lists given specifically for the festival. This might be significantly impossible but instead of slaughtering a sheep or a cow you could replace it with a serving of lamb or beef.
Historically accurate offerings. Can be Sumerian based or local based. (Link.)
Offerings of seasonal themed foods especially those local to your area— spring & fall.
Low Spoon / No Spoon libations (Link)
🌷Ritual & Activities🍁
I have written this to help guide a modern celebration [I don't have the energy to create a revivalist style 5-7 day festival this year. Some can be found elsewhere online by other revivalist/reconstructionist groups]
🌼Ritual
▪️You could attempt to take the ritual instructions we have from other ancient cities that wrote about the Akiti/Akitu festivals. The information is out there but probably hard to find if you aren't an Assyriologist. The book does provide offering lists to temples and other instructions for Akiti festivals spread throughout the book when discussing particular calendars.
▪️Ritual based on basic ideas of ancient purpose:
Finding a spot to place main God's representation away from their shrine/altar. This is the Akiti house.
Procession of main God's representation to that spot from their normal shrine/altar
There was lamentation & signs of grief about the absence of the God while they dwell 'away from their city'. The idol was so important in Mesopotamian practice that its absence could be the literal absence of the God, hence why idols were often stolen during war (Source Link). Thus when the representation is in the Akiti house you may express your sadness at the deity's absence.
Letting the main God's representation dwell there for a time, maybe an hour or overnight or a few days depending on length of festival. Libations and offerings are still given to the God at this location.
Procession back to altar after spending time in the Akiti house. A very joyous experience.
Offerings to the newly arrived deity and any additional deities. Also libations if you want.
Prayer of praise and of gratitude for their arrival.
Prayers of supplication for prosperity and protection.
Music, dance, poetry, hymns, reading a story, presenting art— anything that would entertain the God.
▪️Much shorter version:
Have the God representation on altar.
Take and walk around the room or your home to represent them "leaving."
Pause half way through the walk.
When paused proclaim that you miss the God.
Then walk back returning the representation to the altar
Proclaim your gratitude for the God returning to their altar.
Prayers of gratitude for their protection, their role, their meaning, etc. Prayers of supplication for the next 6 months.
Small offering and/or libation.
▪️Hidden / In the Closet Version:
Not so obvious representation— jar candle, piece of jewelry like a bracelet, small nicknack that won't be questioned.
Keeping that item closed away / packed away purposefully representing Akiti house.
Wear it or keep it out in open the next day to represent the "returning"
Think "[God name] thank you for your presence"
Say an offering prayer/ offering intention in your head before a meal. (Also see low spoon offering post above)
Listen to music, play game, or some other activity "with" the God.
▪️Zero Spoon / No energy Version
Say goodnight to the God one day (Akiti house)
Saying good morning to the God when you wake up next day (The arrival at the city)
Say thank you to them when you take a bite of food or sip of liquid saying "for [God name], thank you for being here" (See Low Spoon Offering post for other possibilities)
🌼Activities:
Create an altar specifically for this festival.
Meal for the festival!
Give a plate to the God in an empty spot on the table or place it before them at their altar. Mesopotamian offerings are eaten afterward.
Doing tasks that help bring order to your life. Clean closet, organize desk, pick up room etc.
Try something new you haven't done before
Any activities to entertain the Gods.
Going out to do fun activities to rejoice in this renewal.
This is a New Year (half year), so anything you might associate with renewal or review.

burnin' through my darkest night
pairing: patrick mckinney x chrissy cunningham tags: no vecna au, slow burn, pining to the max, mentions of abuse, hurt/comfort, angst with a happy ending summary: Patrick and the Hawkins' Tigers are on track for this year's basketball championship under his best friend, Jason Carver's leadership. And that's about the only thing he's looking forward to senior year besides graduating and moving far, far away for college.... Well that, and any chance he gets to see his neighbor, Chrissy Cunningham.....who happens to be Jason's girlfriend.
link to ao3
sneak peek for chapter one below the cut:
The slide of the deadbolt sunk straight to the pit of Patrick’s stomach. The lock clicking into place resonated, only adding to the lingering tension from the shouting match he had just costarred in with his dad. He clenched his fist, shoving it into his pocket, while blood boiled up his neck to spawn the instant headache he’d become intimately familiar with. It took everything Patrick had to not punch the frame of his bedroom door; he didn’t want to load any more ammunition for his father to weaponize against him. He had six months left. Six months until he picked up his life in Hawkins and moved into a dorm room six hours away. August couldn’t come soon enough. His hand trembled in his pocket, adrenaline pumping through him recklessly like a bursting faucet. He tried to ignore his father’s booming voice from downstairs, rehashing the scene to his mom… he’s ungrateful—how careless can our son be! Same old song and dance, his mom had to pretend to be captivated by. This had to be the umpteenth time his father locked him in here this year, any chance to berate him subsequently became a good enough excuse to grab his collar and shut him away. He stopped resisting years ago. It wasn’t actually the muddy gym sneakers, the missed curfews, or the bad grades in Stats class. Patrick solved the mystery of the intense fights spawning up lately all on his own (no statistics needed). His father simply resented a single, undeniable truth. The strict control he’d exerted over the years was slipping. In a few months, Patrick would be eighteen—an adult capable and free to make his own decisions. These four walls would cease to double as his involuntary, solitary cell. And for the record, this prison was poorly-run. Patrick sniffed a deep inhale in an attempt to quell the surging tension beneath the surface of his muscles. He was a kettle close to boiling over, steam ready to fire hot and high. He pushed out a long exhale when he looked outside his window. The waxing moon washed the white picket fence in pale blue light, a sharp contrast to the row of rhododendrons Mrs. Cunningham planted last year. Chrissy’s light was on, glowing through the sheer rosy curtains to reveal the silhouette of her plush teddy bear on the sill. Her bedroom overlooked the same shared fence from the second floor, facing his room ever since they were kids. Patrick unclenched his fist finally, crescent imprints stinging the inside of his palms, and threw on his letterman jacket over his hoodie. Chrissy set up their signal, and there was no way in hell he was going to stay cooped up all night, pretending he didn’t see it. The window opened without a squeak, courtesy of the grease he sprayed inside the tracks last week, and he propped up his basketball next to the window in case she was waiting for him to respond. With one last glance around his room—cleaned spotless and bed made with army precision—Patrick lowered himself out the window, traipsed over the roof, and climbed down the lattice with well-practiced maneuvering. Hopefully, no one unlocked his door during his jailbreak. Fuck Dad, he decided. Patrick stalked down the line of the fence, staying in the cover of its shadow in case of any curious eyes. Once at the treeline, he scurried into the woods and followed the faint path from years of late night venting. His fingers traced the rough bark of the broken pine tree, finding comfort in it. He turned left, ducking below the felled oak and into the tiny clearing hidden by the brush. Chrissy sat on their log, ankles crossed, writing in a notebook with her flashlight tucked under her chin.....

North Celestial Aurora
Image Credit & Copyright: Chirag Upreti

Key Theme: Incarnation. The celebration of Christmas dates back to the 4th century. First recorded celebration of Christmas on December 25 was in Rome in 336 AD, during the reign of Emperor Constantine, the date to coincide with:
- The Roman festival of Saturnalia (a pagan winter solstice celebration).
- Dies Natalis Solis Invicti ("Birthday of the Unconquered Sun"), a Roman sun god festival on December 25.
- Symbolically linking Jesus as the "Light of the World" with the return of longer days after the solstice.
Official Adoption & Spread: Pope Julius the First (350 AD) formally endorsed December 25 as the date of Christ’s birth.
Adopt a pagan festival, Christians, that does not make you a solar people!
And for those lunar people who still attempt to infiltrateno, Sunday is not the day of your idol:
The names of the days of the week in many languages, including English, have roots in pagan antiquity, particularly from Roman, Norse, and Germanic traditions. Here's a breakdown of the origins of the English day names:
Sunday: Named after the Sun. In Latin, it was "Dies Solis" (Day of the Sun), reflecting the Roman practice of dedicating days to celestial bodies.
Monday: Named after the Moon. In Latin, it was "Dies Lunae" (Day of the Moon).
Tuesday: Named after the Norse god Tyr (or Tiw in Old English), a god associated with war and combat. In Latin, it was "Dies Martis" (Day of Mars, the Roman god of war).
Wednesday: Named after the Norse god Odin (or Woden in Old English), the chief god in Norse mythology. In Latin, it was "Dies Mercurii" (Day of Mercury, the Roman messenger god).
Thursday: Named after the Norse god Thor, the god of thunder. In Latin, it was "Dies Jovis" (Day of Jupiter, the Roman king of the gods).
Friday: Named after the Norse goddess Frigg (or Freyja in some interpretations), the goddess of love and fertility. In Latin, it was "Dies Veneris" (Day of Venus, the Roman goddess of love).
Saturday: Named after Saturn, the Roman god of agriculture and time. In Latin, it was "Dies Saturni" (Day of Saturn).
These names were adopted and adapted by various cultures over time, blending Roman and Germanic influences. The seven-day week itself has ancient origins, with roots in Babylonian astronomy, where each day was associated with one of the seven classical planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn). This system was later adopted by the Romans and spread throughout Europe.
Metaphysical part:
Title: The Lunar Degeneracy of Abrahamic Cults
Tags: #Abrahamic #Lunar #LunarReligions #AbrahamicCults #Pagan #Paganism
Lunar = Feminine, Chaotic – Moon-worship signifies dissolution, materialism, and surrender to fate—antithetical to the Solar-Uranian spirit.
Lunar Subversion – Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are rooted in lunar calendar, reflecting their deviation from the pure solar symbolism of higher civilizations.
Christianity’s Pagan Veneer – Christmas superficially mimics solar cults but remains hostage to Jewish lunar eschatology (e.g., Passover-derived Easter).
Christian Easter’s Lunar Dependency – The resurrection myth tied to the moon.
Purim & Carnival – Degenerate lunar festivals of inversion, celebrating chaos over cosmic order.
Yom Kippur & Ramadan – Ascetic, guilt-ridden lunar rites, antithetical to the heroic solar ethos.
Islam’s Nomadic Lunar Slavery – Ramadan, Eid, and the Islamic calendar enforce lunar fixation, reflecting a desert-bound, anti-transcendent worldview.
Lunar Morality – Abrahamic "repentance" and "judgment" reflect slave morality, not the solar warrior’s self-overcoming.
Days of the Week: Pagan, Not Abrahamic – Sunday (Sol) and Monday (Luna) prove Europe’s pre-Christian solar roots, later corrupted by Levantine lunar cults.
Anti-Solar Essence – These cults reject the sun as a divine masculine symbol, replacing it with lunar passivity and priestly obscurantism.
Conclusion: Only the solar principle embodies transcendence—Abrahamism is lunar decline.
"Where the Moon rules, the Spirit dies."

9 phenomena NASA astronauts will encounter at Moon's south pole
NASA's Artemis campaign will send the first woman and the first person of color to the moon's south polar region, marking humanity's first return to the lunar surface in more than 50 years.
Here are some out-of-this-world phenomena Artemis astronauts will experience:
1. A hovering sun and giant shadows
Near the moon's South Pole, astronauts will see dramatic shadows that are 25 to 50 times longer than the objects casting them. Why? Because the sun strikes the surface there at a low angle, hanging just a few degrees above the horizon. As a result, astronauts won't see the sun rise and set. Instead, they'll watch it hover near the horizon as it moves horizontally across the sky.
2. Sticky, razor-sharp dust ...
The lunar dust, called regolith, that coats the moon's surface looks fine and soft like baking powder. But looks can be deceiving. Lunar regolith is formed when meteoroids hit the moon's surface, melting and shattering rocks into tiny, sharp pieces. The moon doesn't have moving water or wind to smooth out the regolith grains, so they stay sharp and scratchy, posing a risk to astronauts and their equipment.
3. ... that's charged with static electricity
Because the moon has no atmosphere to speak of, its surface is exposed to plasma and radiation from the sun. As a result, static electricity builds up on the surface, as it does when you shuffle your feet against a carpeted floor. When you then touch something, you transfer that charge via a small shock. On the moon, this transfer can short-circuit electronics. Moon dust also can make its way into astronaut living quarters, as the static electricity causes it to easily stick to spacesuits. NASA has developed methods to keep the dust at bay using resistant textiles, filters, and a shield that employs an electric field to remove dust from surfaces.
4. A new sense of lightness
In 1972, Apollo 16 astronaut Charles Duke hammered a core tube into the moon's surface until it met a rock and wouldn't go any farther. Then the hammer flew from his hand. He made four attempts to pick it up by bending down and leaning to reach for it. He gave up and returned to the rover to get tongs to finally pick up the hammer successfully.
Artemis moonwalkers will have a bounce to their step as they traverse the lunar surface. This is because gravity won't pull them down as forcefully as it does on Earth. The moon is only a quarter of Earth's size, with six times less gravity. Simple activities, like swinging a rock hammer to chip off samples, will feel different. While a hammer will feel lighter to hold, its inertia won't change, leading to a strange sensation for astronauts. Lower gravity has perks, too. Astronauts won't be weighed down by their hefty spacesuits as much as they would be on Earth. Plus, bouncing on the moon is just plain fun.
5. A waxing crescent … Earth?
When Artemis astronauts look at the sky from the moon, they'll see their home planet shining back at them. Just like Earthlings see different phases of the moon throughout a month, astronauts will see an ever-shifting Earth. Earth phases occur opposite to moon phases: When Earth experiences a new moon, a full Earth is visible from the moon.
6. An itty-bitty horizon
Because the moon is smaller than Earth, its horizon will look shorter and closer. To someone standing on a level Earth surface, the horizon is 3 miles away, but to astronauts on the moon, it'll be only 1.5 miles away, making their surroundings seem confined.
7. Out-of-this-world temperatures
Because sunlight at the moon's South Pole skims the surface horizontally, it brushes crater rims, but doesn't always reach their floors. Some deep craters haven't seen the light of day for billions of years, so temperatures there can dip to minus 334 F. That's nearly three times colder than the lowest temperature recorded in Antarctica. At the other extreme, areas in direct sunlight, such as crater rims, can reach temperatures of 130 F.
8. An inky-black sky
The moon, unlike Earth, doesn't have a thick atmosphere to scatter blue light, so the daytime sky is black. Astronauts will see a stark contrast between the dark sky and the bright ground.
9. A rugged terrain
Artemis moonwalkers will find a rugged landscape that takes skill to traverse. The moon has mountains, valleys, and canyons, but its most notable feature for astronauts on the surface may be its millions of craters. Near the South Pole, gaping craters and long shadows will make it difficult for astronauts to navigate. But, with training and special gear, astronauts will be prepared to meet the challenge.
TOP IMAGE: This graphic shows maximum summer and winter temperatures near the lunar South Pole. Purple, blue, and green identify cold regions, while yellow to red signify warmer ones. The graphic incorporates 10 years of data from NASA’s LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter), which has been orbiting the Moon since 2009. Credit: NASA/LRO Diviner Seasonal Polar Data
LOWER IMAGE: This dust particle came from a lunar regolith sample brought to Earth in 1969 by Apollo 11 astronauts. The particle is about 25 microns across, less than the width of an average human hair. The image was taken with a scanning electron microscope. Credit: NASA/Sarah Noble

Higurashi: Timeline Analysis
One assumption I've made over the series is that events not shown in one arc may have still happened in other arcs. Everything up to about 2 weeks before the Cotton Drifting is more or less set in stone so I wanted to try putting together a parallel timeline of events in each arc.
Some general assumptions:
If the same event happens in multiple timelines, it happened on the same day. This is also true for implied events.
Unless there's evidence to the contrary, there are no skipped days
Unless something definitely happened on a Saturday, all events between school scenes are the same day as the last school scene
Everyone attends classes from Monday through Saturday
Cotton Drifting and Eye Opening have the same sequence and timeline of events with inconsequential differences
Arcs are going to be color-coordinated
Abducted by Demons
Cotton Drifting/Eye Opening
Curse Killing
Atonement
Massacre
Festival Accompanying
Recall that the Cotton Drifting is June 19, 1983. This date will be used as an anchor point throughout this post.
Notes and Dates by chapter
Abducted By Demons:
Cotton Drifting is Chapter 2
The wording before the festival implies several days pass between chapters 1 and two and that several days pass in chapter 2 as well
Keiichi says he's lived in Hinamizawa for three weeks and says it again in Cotton Drifting. We can figure out the date Cotton Drifting starts so the first chapter likely takes place around the same time
Early June: Chapter 1
June 18-19: Chapter 2
June 20: Chapter 3
June 21: Chapter 4
June 22: Chapter 5
June 23: Chapters 5 and 6
June 24: Final Chapter
Cotton Drifting:
Cotton Drifting is Chapters 5 and 6
The events in chapter 1 happen again in Massacre and are explicitly stated to be two weeks before the Cotton Drifting
The confrontation at the end is stated to be June 23rd and Eye Opening states Rika and Satoko were killed on the 22nd.
Chie also comments that Kimiyoshi went missing the day before in chapter 8. I assume that a day passes between then and when Keiichi speaks to Rika
June 4-5: Chapter 1
June 6-7: Chapter 2
June 8: Chapters 2-3
June 9: Chapters 3-4
June 18: Chapter 5
June 19: Chapters 5-6
June 20: Chapter 7
June 21: Chapter 8(?)
June 22: Chapter 8-10
June 23: Chapters 10-11
June 30: Final Chapter
Curse Killing:
The Cotton Drifting is Chapter 10
Keiichi mentions in chapter one that it's been two day so it likely takes place shortly after he moved to Hinamizawa
Keiichi mentions in chapter 4 that it's Saturday and the next day we see is a school day
Three days pass in chapter 6
Early June: Chapter 1
June 8: Chapter 2
June 9-10: Chapters 2-3
June 11: Chapters 4-5
June 13: Chapters 5-6
June 16: Chapters 6-7
June 17: Chapters 7-8
June 18: Chapters 8-9
June 19: Chapter 10
June 20: Chapter 11
June 21: Chapter 12
June 22: Final Chapter
Eye Opening:
The Cotton Drifting is Chapter 10
We enter 1983 starting in chapter 9, but the time frame for chapter 9 is some indeterminate time between Keiichi giving Rena the doll (June 5) and the Cotton Drifting
Shion mentions being part of a youth group looking for Kimiyoshi after he goes missing. Combined with the missing day in Cotton Drifting, that might have happened the day after she kidnapped Kimiyoshi and the next day, she killed Rika.
Timeline is the same for Cotton Drifting. This is primarily to keep records in order.
June 19: Chapters 10-12
June 20: Chapters 13-15
June 22: Chapters 16-19
June 23: Chapter 20
Atonement
The Cotton Drifting is Chapter 6
Several days are skipped over prior to the Cotton Drifting so it's not possible to get definite dates
In Chapter 1, we see a waxing crescent moon and there's a full moon during the Cotton Drifting so that would set Chapter 1 roughly 10 days before the Cotton Drifting
The final chapter is on June 25th and also has a full moon. The full moon is in the nightsky over several chapters across multiple days so we can't fully rely on the moon phases for this.
According to various records I looked up, June 25th, 1983 was a full moon while June 19th was a waxing gibbous. The waxing crescent was around June 14th. The chapters prior to the Cotton Drifting span 5 days (Chapters 1-5 are defintely four consecutive days, while Rena's meeting with Takano is some indeterminate day between events). However, this conflicts with the "a few days passed" line right before the festival so this timeframe is likely not the case.
Chapter 6 mentions a few days pass after the Cotton Drifting. Knowing the arc ends on the 25th and working backward, we can determine that Chapter 6 ends on the 21st.
Day 1: Chapter 1
Day 2: Chapters 2-3
Day 3: Chapters 3-4
Day 4: Chapters 4-5
Day ?: Chapter 6
June 19: Chapter 6
June 21: Chapters 6-7
June 22: Chapters 7-8
June 23: Chapters 8-11
June 24: Chapters 11-12
June 25: Chapters 12-Final
Massacre
The Cotton Drifting is chapter 17.
The arc begins two weeks before the Cotton Drifting. We don't see the entirety of the first week, but I assume the days we see are the first few days of that week.
June 4: Chapter 2
June 5: Chapter 3
June 6: Chapter 4
June 7: Chapter 5
June 12: Chapters 6-7
June 13: Chapter 7
June 14: Chapters 7-8
June 15: Chapters 9-10
June 16: Chapters 10-13
June 17: Chapters 14-15
June 18: Chapters 15-16
June 19: Chapters 17-18
June 20: Chapter 18
June 21: Chapter 19
June 22: Chapters 19-24
June 23: Final Chapter
Festival Accompanying
The Cotton Drifting is the final chapter
Chapter 16 has a scene of Keiichi first visiting the school. He first moved to Hinamizawa three weeks before the start of Onikakushi so that means chapters 16 and 17 likely takes place in late May.
Chapter 18 is the first chapter whose date we can anchor to the Cotton Drifting
June 14: Chapter 18
June 15: Chapters 18-19
June 16: Chapters 20-22
June 17: Chapter 23
June 18: Chapter 24
June 19: Chapters 25-Final

Final thoughts
This took me several days to put together and I think I got most everything correct or close to correct. I'm genuinely surprised how all the non-arc specific events actually fell into place.
In particular, I had mentioned in Massacre chapter 9 that Curse Killing Chapter 4 was canon to that timeline and some early chapters of Cotton Drifting were likely also canon to that timeline as well. I was genuinely surprised at how neatly all those events fit with each other though.
I also mentioned in Atonement Chapter 11 that it and Abducted by Demons were both on the same day, and I'm able to better show how that worked out. I'm still sticking to the idea that Mion said “Hurry up and feel better!” at the exact same time in both timelines as well and that's what caused Keiichi to suddenly remember everything that happened.
This timeline series could imply that Keiichi also knows Shion in Abducted by Demons, but it isn't brought up since it's not relevant to that arc.
I was also quite surprised how little time Rika had in Festival Accompanying. I had to figure out dates by reading the chapters in reverse order and was expecting chapter 18 to end up around June 12th. But no, the 15th is the most likely date she looped on. So Rika had only three days to prepare for her final fight with Takano.
I'm not going to assume that Ryukishi07 planned this extensively to make sure events lined up properly. But it is nice that events line up nicely. It might be a fun to try grafting every potential event that could happen in a timeline into one readthrough the next time I decide to reread this series.

Wednesday's new court mandated therapist is having her keep a journal of her thoughts and feelings. Wednesday finds this to be a complete waste of time and decides instead to use it to record her observations of her unusual roommate Enid Sinclair. Wednesday POV.

Entry 18
Current Moon Phase: Waxing Crescent 🌒
Today Enid suggested we head into Jericho for Christmas shopping. I informed her that this was unnecessary for me as I had already finished making my Yuletide gifts before the final month began. She looked a little taken aback but I was quick to clarify that it did not mean I wouldn't join her in town. I donned my jacket and took her hand in my own. She lit up again at once and immediately pulled me out of our dorm.
As we walked through the halls on our way down to the bus she asked me many questions about Yule. I had no qualms in educating her about its history, symbols, and traditions.
'Woah! So it's kind of like an old timey Christmas?' Was her response. I cannot describe the physical pain this caused me. 'Willa, are you okay?' She asked as we boarded the bus.
'Perhaps it would also be prudent to discuss the history of the holiday you celebrate as well.' I said, taking a calming breath as we sat down. I could tell that it would be a long trip to Jericho.
-YourFavoriteFruitBat is now livestreaming-
"What's up guys! YourFavoriteFruitBat here along with my girl GayMerGirl as we head into town! We're going to see how long I can stand in the local churches before I catch fire!"
"You're not seriously doing that are you?"
"Hey chat it looks like we've got a guest appearance by QBB - Queen Bee Barclay!"
"Don't call me that."
"So what are your plans for town today?"
"Well, I guess they now include staying away from the churches."
"Aw, come on Bianca don't be- Wait, chat's going crazy. Hold on. Oh shit! I guess we've also got an impromptu episode of Wenid Watch!"
"So this is still a thing?"
"Yeah, it's become even more popular over the past couple weeks. I remember when Yoko started filming them occasionally as a joke but now everyone is super invested."
"Like, their relationship?"
"Yup! It's the whole 'will they won't they' kind of thing. Except they're finally together now, I think."
"Shh! Quiet you two! This is a rare sighting of the two love bats outside of their nest!"
"-and it was the psychoactive component of the amanita muscaria, or fly agaric, that caused hallucinations, with the most common hallucination being that of flying reindeer."
"Wow! But wait, if people only hallucinated the reindeer flying then how did the Christmas Werewolf win the werewolf games?"
"The… what?"
"The werewolf games! How did the Christmas Werewolf win if the reindeer he ate didn't actually fly?"
"I am unaware of such a tale."
"You not know about the Christmas Werewolf? Ha! Quit joking!"
"This is no jest, cara mia."
"You know, the Christmas Werewolf."
"Mi amor, I am afraid that you repeating it does not give me any greater clarity."
"…You? You really haven't heard the story of the Christmas Werewolf?"
"No. I am woefully ignorant."
"…"
"Please enlighten me."
"Okay! So my dad always told the story just before the twelve days of Christmas began back when my brothers and I were just cubs-"
"Cubs?"
"You know, kid werewolves."
"Ah, I see. Continue."
"The Christmas Werewolf, okay so you know how werewolves remain wolfed out for the twelve days of Christmas right?"
"No..."
"Really? Okay, uh, there's a lot I'm going to need to cover then. Anyway, werewolves who have completed their first full wolf out stay wolfed out during the twelve days of Christmas. That's when we compete in the werewolf games."
"And what happens in these games?"
"Well, we test our strength and stuff, like running and hunting and jumping. There's also alcohol involved but that's mainly for the older werewolves. Anyway, so the story goes that a long time ago on a cold winter's night all the local werewolves gathered together for the werewolf games. Everyone got to play except for one little werewolf. None of the other werewolves would let him join in the games because they said he was too small and weak and could never hope to compete. The little werewolf was very sad but determined to prove them wrong."
"The other werewolves laughed and said they would let him join in the games if he could jump over the wall of a nearby castle. The little werewolf saw how tall the wall was and knew he could not jump it all by himself. He wandered off into the woods and that's when he saw it: Santa's reindeer. The little werewolf got an idea. If the reindeer could fly, maybe he could too if he ate one."
"That took a rather unexpected turn."
"So, he comes up with this whole big plan to catch one of the reindeer. Long story short he succeeds and eats one of the reindeer and goes back to the other werewolves. Anyway, he wins because he can jump super high now and gets crowned the Christmas Werewolf."
"And how did Santa respond to the death of one of his reindeer?"
"Well, I mean, that's why Santa doesn't deliver presents to werewolves. And why we can't enjoy hot chocolate at Christmas. And also why his reindeer wear silver bells, so werewolves never eat his reindeer again."
"That… makes sense."
"I know right? But if the flying reindeer were hallucinations, how did the Christmas werewolf make the jump?"
"I would suppose that with this werewolf being quite clever he found some alternative way to clear that castle wall."
"I guess."
"Enid, if the character of Saint Nicholas refuses to bring gifts to werewolves why have you hung stockings?"
"Oh! Those aren't for Santa! It's for the Christmas werewolf to leave dried venison. It's symbolic of the meat of the flying reindeer."
"Why stockings?"
"Well, you can't wear stockings when you're wolfed out, silly. That's why he puts it in there."
"Of course. And the tree?"
"Werewolf Christmases are mostly spent outside, since almost everyone is wolfed out. So we have two trees that are decorated the same. One inside for the cubs that haven't wolfed out and one outside for everyone else. You can find your family by the tree outside that is decorated like the one inside."
"There appears to be much I do not know about werewolf Christmas."
"I don't know. I think they're mostly the same. I mean, you spend time with family and people you care about, you give gifts, and you compete to see who is the strongest."
"Must one be a werewolf to partake in these games?"
"Uh, technically no but they are very challenging if you aren't."
"What is the prize of winning said games?"
"Well, you get to be the Christmas Werewolf."
"And what does that entail?"
"You get first pick when it comes to meals, everyone has to listen to you, you get bragging rights, and you hunt the Christmas reindeer so you can put venison in everyone's stockings."
"Interesting. Tell me the games again."
"Willa? You're not- you're not thinking of competing are you?"
"Would it be inappropriate for me to?"
"No but, you're not, you're kinda-"
"Yes?"
"You're small."
"Is the story you told me not about the small and clever overcoming brute strength?"
"Yes but Willa- My family is super competitive."
"As am I, querida."
"Willa no."
"I am merely curious, mi loba."
"Well chat? What do you think? Do you think Wednesday Addams has what it takes to compete in the werewolf games?"
"I worry for the werewolves to be honest."
"Bianca's got the spirit! I'm adding a poll down in chat. Chat, do you think Wednesday has a chance? I guess we'll have to wait till after winter break to find out!"
