Norskappen (App store link) — Fantastic vocab practice with real human spoken audio! There is also preposition practice, article gender practice, and verb practice. The article doesn't attribute the translation but it was probably provided by Kristel Zilmer of the Museum of Cultural History at the University of Oslo, as she provided the image itself and all the other information in the article about runes. Zilmer has been busy recently as both the museum's go-to person for the press, and researching a number of other runic finds, so she probably just hasn't gotten around to publishing this one yet. Her CV does list something called "Runefunn i 2022 of 2023" but that doesn't seem to be something findable. So I'm inclined to think that she just provided her
Back in the day new finds would be published in Nytt om Runer but that hasn't been around since 2004. Now there is a project in the works to digitize the museum's archives in a web-accessible format but it isn't complete yet; the project is being led by none other than Kristel Zilmer (link in Norwegian).

I don't mind admitting that I personally have quite a bit of difficulty reading this. I'm getting:
þvi . a=lt . af . [s?]tirþar? . ?af?e . ?eka=r . ma=rk . sko=t
Several of those ?'s might be i but might have the twigs cut off. I suspect Zilmer is interpreting the word I wrote ?af?e as tafle, dative of tafl 'board/dice game' which you might recognize from the chess-like game hnefa-tafl. I think ma=rk is probably being read as (OIce) mǫrg 'many', and skot might be exactly what it looks like; skot at it's most literal means 'shot' but has a wide variety of uses, see also skjóta 'to shoot.'
If I were just looking at this fresh without a translation at hand I'd be very uncertain of what I wrote [s?]tirþar?. I'm seeing a very short vertical line in the beginning that looks like it could be an s, although it's quite different from what I'm calling an s in skot. If it ends with an -ar than it's probably a feminine noun in the genitive case rather than an adjective, since there's no noun to give an adjective an -ar ending. I can't find any words starting st that fit the description, and sd- is impossible in Norse, so we should probably conclude there's no s there. I might not have thought of this without the translation already provided, but I believe Zilmer is reading it as (in normalized Old Icelandic) dirfðar, genitive of dirfð 'boldness.' An f in most positions is pronounced like a "v," including here, so if you picture it as dirvðar you might see why they might not bother to write the f.
If we've done this right so far the only remaining ? is the one in ?eka=r, nor am I entirely confident that the last letter is an r (but it probably is, because we expect a verb here, and -ar is an expected ending for a singular, third-person verb). I'm not sure how this inscription is dated, or much about the development of Norwegian, so I don't know if je is possible here -- it wouldn't be in Old Icelandic. The only other runes it could be are t and l, and t makes this (sort of) legible: tekar tekar. In earlier language we'd expect tekr but maybe this is late enough that they're sticking epenthetic vowels in there, like in Nynorsk teker 'takes.'
So I'd provisionally suggest something like this, attempting to reflect features of the language it's written in, followed by the equivalent in Old Icelandic:
Þuī allt af dirfðartafle tekær marg skot Því allt af dirfðartafli tekr mǫrg skot
Which I would definitely have trouble translating directly but I can certainly see the provided translation making sense.
But I'm really seriously not confident in this at all. And I don't think I could have done even this if I weren't trying to retrofit it into an already-existing translation.
I think your options are to wait a while, either for Kristel Zilmer to publish a paper including this find or to finish the digitized runic archive project, or you could always send her an email and ask directly. Her contact info is on her page on the museum's website.

I know you are Danish, but as a Dane what do you think of Valhalla as a game? (I’ve always wondered what a local person would think of a representation of their country history). How does it feel seeing your history and potential ancestors on there?
Oh, I could write a novel on this. 😅
Even if Eivor hails from Norway, most Vikings who conquered, settled and raided in England - came from Denmark. A fact you'll oddly enough find most Danes proud of. Nonetheless, AC Valhalla has a super interesting take on it and still manages to apply real historical context - despite the game being fictional. With most Danes being able to track their ancestry back to Odin, and taking pride in their Viking heritage, AC Valhalla had a challenge ahead of them. But I genuinely feel like they've written us a beautiful love letter while staying true to the franchise.
Having grown up with Norse Mythology, though, and having had an insatiable interest in it since my first encounters with it as a child, that is what truly piques my interest. Norse Mythology is such an incredibly fun and human experience. A story and a world that translates well into a setting such as AC Valhalla. And not only because of the historical context.
The representation of mythological characters, the gods (æsir and vanir alike), the jötnar and dwarves are, in my opinion, fantastic.
Odin's arrogance, his hunger for power and knowledge, with just a touch of something playful.
Loki's mischievous nature, his cunning and intelligence - how he seems to believe the impossible to be improbable, and like a riddle to be solved.
Frigg's motherly determination.
Freyja's smarts and passion - how they remember that she's not only a goddess of love but also a goddess of war.
Each god has different qualities, weaknesses, and attributes. In Norse Mythology, an important characteristic is how the gods exhibit a plethora of human traits, behaving much like humans with emotions and interpersonal conflicts. The gods were meant to serve as role models, showing humans how to live and which rules to follow – and which ones could be broken. The existence of the gods was just as fraught with problems as that of humans, and their primary task was to ensure that chaos did not erupt. They're meant to be relatable - human - in their person and behaviour. And this is something I feel AC Valhalla shows and explores well.
The narrative of AC Valhalla doesn't shy away from presenting Odin's choices in a morally ambiguous light. The impact of Odin's decisions on the world around him, including the relationships with other Isu (Loki especially) and the well-being of Ásgarðr, serves as a reminder of the intricate web of cause and effect. While Odin's decisions, driven by a mix of self-preservation and concern for his people (or family), blur the lines between right and wrong. The game invites players to question the morality of Odin's choices, fostering a deeper engagement with and understanding of his character. Even as an Isu, a God, even as he believes himself infallible: Odin is human. He's flawed.
And it reflects in Eivor. She's confident in herself, and in her abilities, sometimes verging on arrogant. But through her discoveries and development throughout the game, she's humbled and realises what is truly important to her, which eventually leads to her rejection of Odin. Her whole experience and journey are so authentically human. Her emotions, her experiences, and her relationship with Odin. Finding herself, despite what whispers in her ear, and realising what holds her heart.
But this is something I feel the AC franchise does well: they tell stories that are unique to the human experience. Something that harmonizes well with the themes of Norse Mythology.
I feel they've done an amazing job with AC Valhalla. I genuinely love the game, I keep coming back to it; thinking about it. With AC Valhalla they've crafted a captivating and immersive experience that seamlessly blends the storytelling of Norse Mythology, Viking Culture, and the fictional aspects of Assassin's Creed, while beautifully conveying the complicated message of the human experience.

My take on this is that you cannot use async Rust correctly and fluently without understanding Arc, Mutex, the mutability of variables/references, and how async and await syntax compiles in the end. Rust forces you to understand how and why things are the way they are. It gives you minimal abstraction to do things that could’ve been tedious to do yourself.
I got a chance to work on two projects that drastically forced me to understand how async/await works. The first one is to transform a library that is completely sync and only requires a sync trait to talk to the outside service. This all sounds fine, right? Well, this becomes a problem when we try to port it into browsers. The browser is single-threaded and cannot block the JavaScript runtime at all! It is arguably the most weird environment for Rust users. It is simply impossible to rewrite the whole library, as it has already been shipped to production on other platforms.
What we did instead was rewrite the network part using async syntax, but using our own generator. The idea is simple: the generator produces a future when called, and the produced future can be awaited. But! The produced future contains an arc pointer to the generator. That means we can feed the generator the value we are waiting for, then the caller who holds the reference to the generator can feed the result back to the function and resume it. For the browser, we use the native browser API to derive the network communications; for other platforms, we just use regular blocking network calls. The external interface remains unchanged for other platforms.
Honestly, I don’t think any other language out there could possibly do this. Maybe C or C++, but which will never have the same development speed and developer experience.
I believe people have already mentioned it, but the current asynchronous model of Rust is the most reasonable choice. It does create pain for developers, but on the other hand, there is no better asynchronous model for Embedded or WebAssembly.

EV subsidies taken away, trade tariffs come in and add on costs. Five years ago you could import a car into the U.S. from China for 2.5 percent. It went to 27.5 percent, it’s now 102.5 percent. We saw the same thing happen in Europe. We saw a slowing demand for EVs. You can either look at all of that stuff and say ‘I’m just going to do the same thing’ or ‘I’m going to pivot’.”This is not to say Volvo will return to non-electrified powerplants. In 2022, Volvo spun off its internal-combustion development and production to a new company called Aurobay, a joint venture with Chinese automaker Geely, Volvo’s majority stockholder. Aurobay now supplies the engines for Volvo’s mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) models, and a new-design internal combustion engine is unlikely.While internal combustion vehicles will now likely remain in the Volvo lineup beyond the end of the decade, Volvo says that by 2030, 90 to 100 percent of the cars it sells will have a plug, a figure that includes both BEVs and PHEVs. Improvements to battery technology developed for pure EVs should improve PHEV range as well. While some buyers opt for PHEVs because they are the most powerful variant in a given Volvo model line (see: the T8 versions), Volvo says that over 50 percent of the miles its PHEV owners drive are powered by electricity.Rowan explained that the pace of electrification has been slower than expected, and for various reasons. “We’re making these assumptions four, five years ago that the market was going to move at a certain speed,” he said. “Some markets have. A good internal combustion engine is probably 35 percent efficient at best. A good EV is 91, 92 percent. And everyone’s invested in EVs. There’s not many people invested in ICE at this point. The investment capitol that’s going into energy density on batteries, inverter modules, new technologies… all of that is going to increase the benefits of electrification.“At the end of the day, technology will win and electrification will be the technology of the future, but it’ll just take a little bit longer than everybody first thought.” So what should we expect? According to a September 17 update from the automaker, there’s a new timeline for certain EVs and future vehicles, including some interesting new nameplates. The EX90 is the first of a series of new models said to be coming, and it’s already going into production this year. Next will be an EX60 SUV to replace the XC60, based on the SPA3 platform sometime around 2026.
Between then, the delayed EX30 will launch in 2025. The XC40 Recharge model will also get a replacement in a new model dubbed the EX40. A new EV60 Cross Country model is said to be in the works, which will be something like a lifted wagon bodystyle, followed by an ES90 electric sedan to replace the S90. At the global reveal of the 2025.5 XC90 (pictured here), sold in mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, Volvo announced that internal combustion engines would still be part of the lineup come 2030 and beyond.“Everybody made a lot of assumptions two, three, four, five years ago, and that’s changed,” Volvo CEO Jim Rowan explained. “The market’s changed. EV subsidies taken away, trade tariffs come in and add on costs. Five years ago you could import a car into the U.S. from China for 2.5 percent. It went to 27.5 percent, it’s now 102.5 percent. We saw the same thing happen in Europe. We saw a slowing demand for EVs. You can either look at all of that stuff and say ‘I’m just going to do the same thing’ or ‘I’m going to pivot’.”This is not to say Volvo will return to non-electrified powerplants. In 2022, Volvo spun off its internal-combustion development and production to a new company called Aurobay, a joint venture with Chinese automaker Geely, Volvo’s majority stockholder. Aurobay now supplies the engines for Volvo’s mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) models, and a new-design internal combustion engine is unlikely.While internal combustion vehicles will now likely remain in the Volvo lineup beyond the end of the decade, Volvo says that by 2030, 90 to 100 percent of the cars it sells will have a plug, a figure that includes both BEVs and PHEVs. Improvements to battery technology developed for pure EVs should improve PHEV range as well. While some buyers opt for PHEVs because they are the most powerful variant in a given Volvo model line (see: the T8 versions), Volvo says that over 50 percent of the miles its PHEV owners drive are powered by electricity.Rowan explained that the pace of electrification has been slower than expected, and for various reasons. “We’re making these assumptions four, five years ago that the market was going to move at a certain speed,” he said. “Some markets have. Norway is 85 percent, somewhere in that region. [Ed. note: Market share of EVs in Norway has now passed 90 percent.] West coast of the U.S. is pretty good. Northern Europe’s pretty good. Southern Europe is slow. The interior of the U.S. is slow. The provinces of China are really slow… The bottom line is when you are in these big transitions, it’s very difficult, unless you are pragmatic about the approach, to get it right.”Rowan emphasized that while the timeline has changed, Volvo’s commitment to the electric transition has not.“I still believe in electrification,” he said. “I still think electrification is a much better propulsion system than internal combustion, and for various reasons. A good internal combustion engine is probably 35 percent efficient at best. A good EV is 91, 92 percent. And everyone’s invested in EVs. There’s not many people invested in ICE at this point. The investment capitol that’s going into energy density on batteries, inverter modules, new technologies… all of that is going to increase the benefits of electrification.“At the end of the day, technology will win and electrification will be the technology of the future, but it’ll just take a little bit longer than everybody first thought.” So what should we expect? According to a September 17 update from the automaker, there’s a new timeline for certain EVs and future vehicles, including some interesting new nameplates. The EX90 is the first of a series of new models said to be coming, and it’s already going into production this year. Next will be an EX60 SUV to replace the XC60, based on the SPA3 platform sometime around 2026.
Between then, the delayed EX30 will launch in 2025. The XC40 Recharge model will also get a replacement in a new model dubbed the EX40. A new EV60 Cross Country model is said to be in the works, which will be something like a lifted wagon bodystyle, followed by an ES90 electric sedan to replace the S90.
