tbh i think that even unwinnable fights should be winnable. some of the BEST fights i've ever run as a dm were ones i built kill the players (in a fun way. I had some cutscenes prepped so even the loss would be a different flavour of win)- but then they were clever bastards and managed to either win the fights or pull themselves out of trouble. I think it's perfectly fine to plan for a fight that players aren't supposed to win, but you need to let them. if they can't win, they can't lose, and the meaning of that encounter is diminished. do that too many times, and they stop trusting you to give them roleplay prompts and start expecting to sit there waiting while you drive the story for them.
but if they can win... if there is always the chance to win, no matter how impossible the odds, then they ALWAYS have hope. they always get invested. they feel the big emotions of success or the big emotions of failure, and you fucking Win as a dm/roleplay prompter/lead bastard.
#qsmp neg#qsmp crit#discourse#<- for blacklists#im not grumping or anything im just musing on like. the mechanics of why everyone is so upset about the latest fight#and how it can be avoided while still keeping these fights genuinely difficult and intense#its hard because there's so many players and they all have wildly different strengths and weaknesses#so someone who could take on the code easy needs that enemy scaled differently than someone who isn't a big fighter#but it's hard to do that in a world where they interact w the same enemy#and you only have so much man-power to cater to a big server like this one#and then you bring in the big powerful items that the players can and can't access but which the admins have ultimate power over#and the fact that some of the admins themselves have lag issues or aren't super great at pvp so they accommodate that with better gear#and it starts getting messy#but for the fights themselves yeah regardless of what armour or gear or killing-methods they use there should Always be a win condition#and idk maybe there was one and we just didn't get to see it#but if that win condition is 'parents sit in the safe room with their babies while the others are overrun'#then i think there are ways to build better win conditions#anyway i love game design and player/dm interactions qsmp hire me now i want to know your behind the scenes#jk im too busy to apply#but man. i wanna nerd out so bad that sometimes i think about it

me when i admit to being normal about my new captain
#hockey nerd… tracks#pierre luc dubois#going through his old media. did you know he used to review his game tape#did weeks and weeks of strength and conditioning on his own prior to camp… hired a coach to run drills and everything#i wonder what happened to that kid. why no one talks about him anymore#well. probably not convenient for the media to sell 2 different stories at once..?#or maybe he just realised there’s more in this life than hockey..?#<- everyone loves to critique him for supposedly treating this like ‘just a job’ but i mean#reading his old interviews… it kinda looked like he was on track to being a hockey robot made for nothing else#and that still didn’t save him..? so. u know#washington capitals

truly my dad turns every stupid tiny irrelevant ordinary thing that shouldn't possibly be any kind of big deal or cause any problems into some big stressful fucked up ordeal for absolutely nothing
#the latest is that he bought a new fan to replace the old fan that broke#and he got a way weaker fan that won't do the job#and when I said 'hey this one's a lot weaker than the old one we should return it and get a different one'#he first tried to convince me it was the same#and then when I insisted it wasn't he finally admitted it wasn't but said he didn't mind#and it's like. lmao obviously he doesn't care because it's not a fan to get air into his bedroom! it's a fan to get air into my bedroom!#he has an air conditioner in his room and I don't! what a shocking surprise that the strength of the fan makes no difference to him!#so he threw a whole fit about it and started complaining about how COSTLY it is to get a new fan#and how magnanimous he was being to buy a fan at all but no one appreciates him#like. literally we can just exchange it for a different fan#we could just literally try another fan because this one wasn't good#like it's EASY it's NORMAL to have to sometimes return an item and try again#but if it's an item HE bought then to say it isn't good enough is a vicious personal insult to his character#you'd think he gave birth to the fucking fan by how attached he is to the idea that it can't possibly be a weak fan#and it always comes back around to him playing the martyr#oh my god yeah you're SO hard done by.... you need to spend fifty bucks to get a fan so your daughter doesn't get heastroke while she sleep#you are the world's most sufferingest soldier..... everyone just takes advantage of you it's soooo crazy........#omg are you going to tell all your friends how much you suffer because your daughter needs a fan for her room in the summer??#should we give you a medal???#and it's just like this with literally everything#it's so impossible to just like. be a sane emotionally balanced person when living in insane conditions#like can I please just treat small problems as no big deal and take simple steps to resolve them? no? oh. okay. cool.#me posting

Let's do pole dancing class with mama
#it went surprisingly well#like i knew she has the strength and condition to survive the class#what was surprising was that i didn't get comments about the sexy movements in the choreography or the photo shoot at the end#((also i have a hickey on my tit that sometimes peeks out of my sports bra and I didn't realize until today so i was scared she'd see that))#mogologue

It's more accurate to say heterosexual relationships will always have a power imbalance because males are physically stronger and have more power in society. a man being infertile or having a vasectomy doesn't change that. he may not be able to impregnate you but he can physically overpower you and kill you, or use his power in society to ruin you.
nah i said what i said
#answered#males ''have more power in society'' and why is that?#who controls the propagation of society? and how?#the physical strength imbalance isn't insignificant but guess what condition is physically disabling and uniquely vulnerable

sorry but i will just never understand people who read the ending of trimax as bleak
#it is spelled out on the page that the days are both tough and tender#on. the page. the best and kindest thing that humans can choose is compassion and communication#and then they do#if it shoved comfort down our throats for the sake of ‘closure’ the significance would’ve been compromised#some people have lost the ability to engage with hurt/comfort outside of through a shipping lens and it really really shows#discourse again. sorry#i have a lot of thoughts abt this series. and its meaning#and most of them are so so very uplifting of the human condition#bc it is honest that life is not perfect and shiny and sweet and that is a WONDERFUL thing.#the world is what we make of it and when we choose to use our free will for empathy we are adding notes to the ongoing song#glorifying not strength not power not violence but COMMUNICATION#plain and simple#and the tenacity it requires#and how it will pay off in the end when you are heard#stories where humanity isn’t perfect and they aren’t condemned for that fact are so precious to me#trimax and mp100 are right next to each other in my heart

Just discovered thru my own research that due to the lack of knowledge/concern multiple drs had when I went to them for help, I am gonna be in even more pain for the rest of my life w possibly worse consequences! Fuck
#im to tired to be as angry as i am. like i am enraged but exhausted so its dull#i went back to researching wtf happened to my ankle a few years ago thats caused me trouble ever since & finally found the answer#and i am basically reading exactly what i told everyone i saw about it. and i am. furious#i gave them literally all the info they needed to work it out if they actually thought about it#i would say it started here and point to thw exact location you feel pain from a high ankle sprain#then say it changed to be a worse/different pain here. and point to the exact location you feel pain for posterior tibial tendinopathy#which is a condition generally caused by an injury unable to heal correctly#and go on to describe other symptoms of the same condition#and then. everyone was just. stumped or just sort of passively assumed it was a non serious sprain#all i can think is MAYBE it was ruled out during movement/strength tests but also im a chronic pain patient w hypermobile joints so at#a certain point those tests are kind of unreliable

What Do You Mean Ritsu Catches TheZombie Disease ?Whgat Do You Meanwhat do youmean whatg do u mean wh
:)
Well, here's the thing. Ritsu thinks Shigeo is no longer contagious. Even though he still has some zombie symptoms, like the misty eyes and the insomnia, he's officially cured. Everyone thinks Mob's symptoms are just leftovers, his body having been changed in ways you can't come back from.
The doctors are wrong. Mob still hosts a living (even thriving) disease colony. It's just that he lived with zombie disease so long that his body stopped fighting to eradicate the disease, and then the cure strengthened his immune system and allowed his body to push back against the disease, prioritizing clearing his brain while allowing the disease to remain part of him. And his disease colony, having the collective intelligence of a colony of bees, adapted to the situation.
Zoom out. Mob is living in a house with Ritsu. They don't really talk but they're in physical proximity. They eat together when they can. You'd think it would just be a matter of time until Ritsu got infected, but actually it didn't have to happen. Ritsu spent months taking care of Shige, Very Aware that he was going to be infected and doom them both if he came in contact with Shige's saliva. Ritsu still has the habits; he's still careful with everything he imbibes. He never drinks out of anything but his water bottle, he never takes food out of anything Shigeo has touched (Ritsu splits their food into separate meals BEFORE eating so that they never share a bowl), and he washes the sink before he uses it, every single time.
Mob doesn't use his old water bottle anymore. He drinks out of regular glasses, and he usually washes them himself. Sometimes he forgets, and then Ritsu steels himself and washes Shigeo's dishes and then washes his hands three times and takes a long bath.
So—it could have continued forever and no one would have known Mob was still contagious, because Ritsu treated him like he was still contagious anyway.
And then. The Big Cleanup arc happens. Ritsu and Kamuro are cleaning up Salt Township one useless delinquent at a time. Ritsu is pretty sure that someone recently tried to use his brother's zombie strength in inter-town warfare, and he is furious. He wishes everyone would forget about Nii-san. Unfortunately, though, in this au, there were witnesses to Teru and Mob's fight—some of the Black Vinegar delinquents were not unconscious for that. The rumors flew, and by the time Big Cleanup gets into full swing, people all around the former Seasoning City area know that there's a zombie kid from Salt who challenged Black Vinegar's secret weapon and won. Is Salt going to become a bandit town like Black Vinegar? They've been a good neighbor to the other fragments of Seasoning City so far, but if they have a zombie who can wreak that much destruction on command...
And the fact that Mob still has zombie symptoms—well. it's an open secret. So when Ritsu hears the rumor from Mezato, he knows perfectly well what's going to happen. People are going to come after his brother preemptively. Worst case scenario, Nii-san is going to get killed. Ritsu starts to consider taking Shigeo and making a run for it—leaving the Seasoning City area altogether, maybe. Striking out on their own again. He doesn't want to do it, but it might be their only chance. He feels rushed. someone could try something at any time.
So. when he hears from Mitsuura (who is essentially the same in this au, just,, a little more ethically questionable due to wanting zombie powers instead of psychic powers,,) that people who have been around zombies for a long time sometimes develop zombie characteristics, he thinks this might be his chance to stall. He thinks if he gets zombie strength, he could pretend to be White T Poison, to distract people from his brother long enough to—do something. figure out some way to protect his brother for real.
(The Awakening Lab kids have had long-term exposure to zombies and basically been immunized to the disease. they have had very, very mild cases and recovered with little damage. Rei Kurosaki can sense the presence of miasma and disease colony drones, for instance. Hoshino has above-average strength; Asahi has a permanent fever that makes him hot to the touch. Asahi in particular recently got bitten and never showed any symptoms. Ritsu watches and absorbs this information with Great interest.)
On Ritsu's way to Mitsuura's lab, which is just a little way outside Salt's territory, Student Council Vice President Tokugawa catches him and asks if he's alright. Tokugawa is perceptive, and although he disapproves of Ritsu and Kamuro's community "cleanup", he's noticed that Ritsu is doing. really bad. lately. He thinks maybe having someone Acknowledge that Ritsu is visibly doing bad and freaking out about his brother will help Ritsu gain some... solidity. Instead of telling Ritsu "stop acting like your brother", Tokugawa tells Ritsu, "Stop trying to take control of everything. You're not in charge of your brother anymore."
And that—that reference to Ritsu's months of caretaking just destroys what's left of Ritsu's desire to be normal. Not in charge of his brother anymore? Not in charge of his brother anymore? How dare he bring that up and suggest Ritsu just get over it? Ritsu's ability to be in control of everything is his best quality, thank you very much.
Ritsu goes to Mitsuura's lab, and then he comes home to find Shigeo asleep on the couch with a nearly empty glass of water by his hand.
Shigeo's not a zombie anymore—Tokugawa was right about that much. Ritsu doesn't have to be afraid of him this time. Ritsu is older, stronger, more in control this time than last time. He can do this.
He drinks the rest of Shigeo's water. On purpose.
(Shigeo's saliva is still contagious. his water has his disease drones in it, ready to clone themselves into a full colony. they find Ritsu's body very hospitable. very familiar. they start replicating the way they worked in their last host's body right away.)
#my zombie au#oh this got long! my bad!#more soon about what Happens to Ritsu after that :) basically he inherits Mob's disease AND Mob's cure#without actually having to Be Cured. this of course means intense panic as Ritsu realizes that he's infected#and the symptoms are more aggressive than what the Awakening Lab kids have. he's like. he's actually Turning#cue Ritsu obsessively testing his pain tolerance and tracking his strength with spoon-bending and checking his eyes in the mirror#he hides his condition from Shigeo as long as possible obviously. hhhhhhhh#sorry to torture you! I just need to present my information chronologically. I Will tell you what happens in more detail#but I write these things SO slowly and I need to take a break before I get into Ritsu's Zombie Arc#oh note: the Big Cleanup arc is a little out of order in my zombie au#the delinquent thing starts happening Before the Mitsuura thing starts#just to clarify (thumbs up)

im so touched by the solidarity budding btwn jane eyre and helen burns ive only just started reading this book and im already so emotional
#also helen is soooo adhd#and her monologue about casting aside vengeance etc while doused in religious overtones#bc that was the nature of their schooling culture and conditioning#was so touching because that is a CHILD#who is constantly chided on being flawed and somehow lacking#but who has so much strength of character and moral depth#to say ''i will suffer what i suffer because i must. and i hold no grudge in my heart and that makes my step lighter#and my heart fuller because i believe we are all destined to ascend to something greater in the afterlife#like people whose takeaway from this is to scoff @ her faith is like WHY ARENT U READINH WHY ARENT U PAYING ATTENTION#like this is not a figure of authority that is impressing these values onto jane this is#a child#who has suffered so mcuh she's had to develop this incredibly fortified mindset to be able to#keep on living in the conditions that she does#having adhd must have been so difficult back then

piracy is great because instead of losing your mind in the middle of winter and listening to the insanely embarassing music you liked in middle school and having to see it on your spotify wrapped at the end of the year and explain it to everyone you just put it in the folder named "i don't want to talk about it." and pretend it never happened once the sun goes back to normal
#“it isnt that bad” i do not have the strength to explain what it is. but it is that bad. perhaps worse#im just conditioned to like it because in 7th grade my weird vaguely homoerotic friendship was with a guy with. arguably kind of shit#music taste. and also i had undiagnosed unmedicated major depressive disorder#at least im not listening to crywank again i guess#👍#nightly depression spiral#<- ? not really but just in case

Facts about your body after you turn 25, AKA things I wish someone had told me:
you will get hair in fun new places. this is normal and fine.
these places include (but are not limited to) if you don't already have them: your asscrack, your back, your ears, and moles. it's fine.
some of you, dick or not, will also lose hair. this is normal, but also if you have ovaries maybe get this checked out for PCOS.
your acne will probably change. some people get better. some people get worse. it's fine.
your nails will probably get an infection or a fungus at least once in your life. this is fine. (but also let your doc know).
how you gain and lose fat and where you do so will change. this is fine.
how you smell will change. this is fine. (fishy or rotten smells mean doctor time though)
if you have a prostate: it gets harder to pee. prostates enlarge as you age (get this checked regularly). this is fine.
if you do not have a prostate: it gets easier to pee but not in a good way. as in as you get older, your pelvic floor muscles tend to lose some of their strength. this makes it harder to keep pee in. this is fine.
all breasts and pectorals eventually sag, with the rest of your body. this is fine.
a decent percent of the population will experience a cyst at least once. some of you will make up for the rest with multiple. this is fine, but keep them checked out by a doctor. (sometimes this is a condition! get checked for that too!)
almost half of everyone gets hemorrhoids. it's a good idea to just expect them since your chances of getting them get higher the older you are. your toilet will look like a murder scene. definitely get your booty checked out BUT this is almost always perfectly normal. just eat more fiber. "but I already-" eat more fiber. and maybe suck it up and buy some hemorrhoid cream, you'll thank me later.
yes, this means you will probably need to make an appointment for a doctor to see your butthole. it's okay. not only do they really not care but 1. they've seen weirder that day and 2. they'd far rather you see them now than later when it's been going on for forty years and now it might be colon cancer. it's okay. consider it a rite of passage.
adults need more sleep than children. don't believe the myth that you need less than they do. that is capitalist propaganda to make you give up more of your life to the work grind, comrade.
vitamins and medicine, something you are more likely to take as you get older, sometimes make the toilet turn weird colors. it's okay.
if you still have your tonsils and get those little stones and get sore throats more than once a year you should plan on getting those suckers out before the tonsils cause an infection and go septic. if you're getting stones at all you should get those reevaluated every year, especially if the stones are bigger than a needlehead (or get bigger over time). it's gross and yucky. I don't care. get them looked at before you end up in the hospital.
you'll probably need to add foot support to your shoes if you don't already do. this is fine.
your body changes. sometimes it can feel sorta weird and upsetting that it isn't what it used to be. that is okay, and it is okay to be upset. just know that this is normal, it's normal to be upset or not upset, but don't let it hinder your quality of life. trans or cis, there is a certain level of acceptance you just gotta give your body and forgive your body for as you get older. it's okay.
it's okay. I promise.
