If you're on Windows 11 like I am for my "main" computer (in my case for school purposes and because I can't get Baldur's Gate 3 to play on Linux), then you might've seen this annoying piece of AI shit show up on your taskbar:

This is Windows Copilot, and it's fulled by the same shit ChatGPT is fuelled by. There is currently no way to uninstall it, but there is a way to deactivate it completely, which I've linked below. It's very easy, and it took me like, 2 minutes to do.

PSA: Copilot installed itself on my Android phone
I STRONGLY suggest you check your apps and uninstall it. Fortunately, I was able to just go to apps in settings and uninstall it.
I also found with my latest Windows update it got reinstalled after I removed it, although that was less of a surprise.
(This is not a post to add your opinions about how I shouldn't use Windows or Android anyway. Life is not as simple as that.)

for Windows 10 users, the Microsoft Ai, Copilot was installed recently on my computer without my knowledge.
it looks like uninstalling the Ai Copilot from apps and features didnt work at all (it was still there, just not visible). To actually remove Copilot from your pc you have to open Windows Powershell as administrator and write this command:
Get-AppxPackage *CoPilot* -AllUsers | Remove-AppPackage -AllUsers

In a screenshot posted on X by @PhantomOcean3, the latest Notepad app has a hidden menu with an early implementation of a new feature called "Cowriter," which uses AI to rewrite text, make text shorter or longer, and change the tone or format of text in a Notepad text file.
Do you sometimes use Notepad to edit plain text files on your PC? You know, .ini files, .reg files or other system stuff?
Well now you can use AI to totally fuck that shit up!
Polite reminder that the free/wonderful Notepad++ exists.

finally. inner peace. (How to uninstall copilot 101)
PowerShell Method (Actually Uninstalls CoPilot)
This will fully uninstall CoPilot from your system, instead of disabling via group policy or registry entries. Even if Microsoft pushes an update that reinstalls it later, this method will still work to remove it again!
Run PowerShell as Administrator
Paste: Get-AppxPackage *CoPilot* -AllUsers | Remove-AppPackage -AllUsers
Press Enter (There will not be any output if it is successfully removed)
Reboot
See here for removing it further: https://www.reddit.com/r/Office365/s/WNRtCTDeU3

I tried an ElevenForum tutorial to delete Copilot. Pro-AI nonsense aside (and all over a GPT reskin)... this is just me rambling.
I was really dumb and didn't look up any way to disable it, only went by one tech support post here and that's it. I already disabled Copilot (also within the built-in search feature) so it doesn't show up when I try to uninstall it. Tried deleting it with PowerShell. Pasted a command twice. Pressed Enter twice. Checked Taskbar settings, icon didn't show up. I think it does work, but anyhow...
I didn't look into ways to uninstall it, and I thought it was built-in (thank god it's not part of Microsoft Edge, too). Edit: It is part of Edge, it does not come as its own .exe file and I don't know if uninstalling Edge means other stuff will stop working, so disabling is the best I'll do for now.
Anyhow...

I don't want to be That Person, but y'all might want to consider switching to Linux.

The Bad News: Microsoft is hell bent on forcing its Copilot AI into our lives by jamming a new dedicated key onto new PC keyboards. In five years nobody will care about Copilot or its stupid key. It'd be like having a dedicated Ask Jeeves key in 2024.
The Good News: all that key does is replay a short macro, so repurposing it is simple if you know how.
The Weird News: the last time a PC shipped with an F23 button was in the 1980s.

just a reminder if you have a newer windows laptop or pc: you can just delete copilot (microsoft's ai) via the control panel. even if you have a copilot button on your keyboard, that can easily be changed so it just searches your computer instead
