one of the reasons tumblr is consistently an excellent social media site is it is one of the last bastions of the Text Post (genre). videos especially, along with pictures are performances, a curated view of how you want your message to be perceived. the humble text post on the other hand allows you to see how another thinks. this is why a linux forum whose admin stopped allowing new accounts in 2009 is able to offer better tech support than a 10 minute video. show vs tell, process vs outcome, hunt vs kill.

There's not nearly enough entertainment for teenagers. But also every time a studio tries to make things especially for teenagers it sucks total ass and bombs immediately because nobody knows what teenagers would actually like. The result is either teenagers who get exposed to gritty adult content before they have the proper framework in mind for consuming it in a healthy way or teenagers who get overly sheltered and never leave children's animation or games and then develop absolutely no media analysis skills or exploration. This culminates into what our current 20something generation divide is: pearl-clutchers who can't engage with anything racier than steven universe, and jaded irony poisoned losers who are like two bad days away from becoming either die-hard anti-SJWs or reddit doomer wojak posters.
