Dear, free world: Apathy No More!
Note 1: Resharing my post from my terminated Tumblr account (@mahmoudkhalafff).
Note 2: Short-term goal of 30k for evacuation has been thankfully achieved. I am consulting with the Irish Refugee Council and Doras in Ireland regarding the procedures and requirements for issuing reunification visas once the crossing is operational and my family can evacuate for Egypt. We are a big family of many brothers and sisters who have so many children. They are scattered in different areas in the Gaza Strip including the North of Gaza where they can be very hard contact sometimes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many other Gazans in Limerick are working hard and reaching out to Irish politicians and MPs to facilitate a safe passage for their families out of Gaza to Ireland.
When piles and piles of people are apathetic when it comes to the genocide unfolding in Gaza, be the source of relief, hope, and support for the stranded helpless besieged people there. Astonishingly, our life in Gaza turned upside down in an instant?! We woke up one day to realize that a massive-scale war was to be launched against more than 2 million people in Gaza. My Facebook timeline was filled with countless posts in which Gazans publicly asked for forgiveness before their expected imminent mass murder. Can you imagine what it feels like reading all these scary posts and wondering if you should say a final 'Goodbye'?!
Then, Gazans ventured on their own version of Via Dolorosa (Way of Suffering) which included multiple forced displacements, acute life-threatening shortages of water and food, lost jobs, humiliation, mass destruction, injuries, and murder.
It is beyond shocking and sickening how desensitized our world has become to see all the horrifying images of children's body parts scattered everywhere and not lift a finger to stop this ruthless and inhumane genocide. I can say with all certitude on behalf of my people in Gaza that we have lost hope in all the vile desensitized regimes and politicians of the world.
However, we still have strong faith in the lovers and supporters of our just cause who never cease to shower us with their heartwarming words of support and uplifting wishes. Our belief in your humanity and support for our just cause drives us to ask you for help in this worst crisis in our history since the Nakba.

A furious diplomatic spat between Israel and the United Nations has broken out, with Israeli officials calling for the resignation of Secretary General Antonio Guterres after he said Hamas’ October 7 attacks on the country “did not happen in a vacuum.” At a Security Council meeting, Guterres called for a humanitarian ceasefire on Tuesday amid the deepening crisis in Gaza, and told the Security Council that “clear violations of international humanitarian law” are being witnessed. He called Hamas’ October 7 murder and kidnap rampage “appalling,” and said “nothing can justify the deliberate killing, injuring and kidnapping of civilians, or the launching of rockets against civilian targets.” “It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” Guterres said. “The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence; their economy stifled; their people displaced and their homes demolished.”[...]
His comments angered Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, who was in the chamber as Guterres spoke. “In what world do you live?” said Cohen. “Definitely, this is not our world.” Writing on social media later, Cohen said that “after the October 7th massacre, there is no place for a balanced approach. Hamas must be erased off the face of the planet!” Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, called on Guterres to resign, saying he had “expressed an understanding for terrorism and murder.” Then, on Wednesday, Erdan said his country will block visas for United Nations officials. It had already rejected an application by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, Erdan told the Israeli Army Radio channel. “It’s time we teach them a lesson,” added Erdan.[...]
In an effort to “set the record straight,” Guterres said Wednesday he was “shocked by misinterpretations by some of my statement yesterday in the Security Council – as if I was was justifying acts of terror by Hamas.”[...]
But Guterres did not back away from his Tuesday call for a ceasefire, or from his nod towards the historical treatment of Palestinians. The main United Nations agency working in Gaza said it would be forced to halt its operations by Wednesday evening due to a lack of fuel, with the territory having faced days of airstrikes and near-total blockade following the Hamas attacks. Efforts in the UN to endorse a ceasefire have so far been scuppered, with the US vetoing a draft resolution raised by Brazil last week.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday told the agency that “humanitarian pauses must be considered” to allow aid to reach civilians in Gaza, though he notably avoided the phrase “ceasefire.”[...]
The World Health Organization meanwhile reiterated calls on Tuesday for a ceasefire, saying it is “unable to distribute fuel and essential, life-saving health supplies to major hospitals in northern Gaza due to lack of security guarantees.” Six hospitals in Gaza have been forced to shut due to a lack of fuel, WHO added.
There's literally no (0 (zero)) purchase gained by equivocating w these people btw. It is in fact seen as weakness [25 Oct 23]

hey guys, long time no kinn & porsche fic rec list! i miss these two so much it’s not even remotely funny. as always, this list is ordered according to length (from longest to shortest), and each fic is by a different author (to share the love)! all fics that are not yet complete have been marked with (wip). lastly, make sure to read the tags, and show the authors some love! god bless y’all for my daily allotment of serotonin.  [part 8/?]
— the empty crown by rainbowcolored7 – explicit / 117.2k words (wip)
Porsche was destined to rule his kingdom, but the throne and his family were taken from him, forcing him and his brother into hiding.
Kinn chose to rule to save his family from the untouchable threat of the Council who strictly guard the power of the Source.
When their worlds collide, everything changes. Hidden plans tumble into motion, enemies become allies and, above all, love conquers.
— you were there, written in my stars by bleakyblues – explicit / 81.5k words (wip)
Kinn is your everyday, ordinary guy. Well, as ordinary as the heir to the country’s underworld can be. But the point still stands. Kinn goes to school, helps his Pa with his work, hangs out with his friends and has a huge crush on his ‘good friend’ whom he is ‘not-dating’ (yet).
Enter Porsche Pachara Kittisawat with all the grace and stubbornness of a class five hurricane. And Kinn is lost, lost, lost... caught up in the winds never to emerge again.
— freedom is a sound/pleasure is a right ‘series by baby_droll – explicit / 31k words
Kinn stares at him, and then up at the ceiling, and then back at Porsche.
“Have you considered being professional even a day in your life,” he says, sitting back down in his desk chair and rolling away enough to get some space, “I mean really and truly, do you know what it looks like, barging into my office,” Porsche cuts him off, mouthing along to his spiel, mainly because he’s heard it before, “sitting on my desk, interrupting meetings, and acting like, Porsche, people are going to think things, things you and your shiny visa can’t afford to have them thinking. things that me and my giant internship program can’t afford for them to think—”
(Or: Kinn and Porsche meet, kiss, fall in love. Only one problem—Kinn is his PhD advisor, and there’s more than a few rules about them being together.)
— the bachelor by blue_grama – mature / 25.9k words
It’s Pete who explains, the next morning over breakfast, because of course the news has spread all over the compound. “Haven’t you ever watched a mob movie?” He asks Porsche, gesticulating with a spoon. “They have all the money they could ever need, but they can never get respectability. The old-money types look down on them. The new-money types take their bribes, but they don’t let them into the inner circle. This is public relations.”
“A kinder, gentler mob?” Porsche laughs. “Come on.”
“They’ll use it to look nonthreatening, highlight the legitimate businesses, that sort of thing,” Pete says. He lowers his voice. “Everyone knows the Theerapanyakuls are dirty, but if they’re on television, how dirty can they be, right? And… I don’t know, but Khun Korn is strange about Khun Kinn’s love life. Maybe he’s trying to keep him in line somehow.”
— i’m not a saint, but i pay like a sinner by haeseolar – explicit / 25.4k words
“I’m not sure how a lowly human like you called me, but here I am,” His voice is deep, but not gruff or harsh like he was expecting. Porsche doesn’t have many preconceptions about demons as a whole, but everything he holds is being completely turned upside down and thrown out the window.
“Who are you?” Porsche croaks out, somehow finding his voice.
The demon’s eyes sharpen as he speaks, the slitted black pupils contracting and opening again like a cat’s. It’s just as fascinating as it is unnerving.
“You’re the one that called my name,” He shrugs, gesturing around the room flippantly.
“Anakinn,” Porsche says, the name rolling off his tongue smoothly. “You’re Anakinn.”
— scale and bone by ahdriking – explicit / 25.2k words (wip)
Fairy tales aren’t real. There are no happy endings. These are the truths Kinn knows.
Ever since stepping into power, Kinn has been suspicious of the Russians—led by Mikhail Alexeyev—operating in Bangkok, suspecting them of stealing from him. He sends Kim to investigate, and the truth turns out to be much worse than his initial fears. He resolves to destroy them, even at the risk of all out war; he can do no less if he wants to avoid appearing weak.
It starts with reconnaissance at Alexeyev’s party, an event promising a ‘grand spectacle.’ Kinn is expecting something appropriately depraved, suitable for the Russian mobster and his tastes, but nothing could have prepared him for the reality of what Alexeyev has been hiding. Nothing could have prepared him for the way it will change his life forever.
Because fairy tales aren’t real.
Until they are.
— moonchild (we’re born in the moonlight) by wicca – explicit / 24.1k words
“Let me walk you home, then,” Kinn offers, recalling the recent accidents and all the superstitions he’d heard about the forest ever since he was a boy. “Even if you live close by, these woods can get dangerous. You should always get home before nightfall.”
“Trust me,” Porsche smiles, teeth sharp and brown eyes glittering an almost golden hue under the late afternoon light. “I’ll be fine.”
He lets Kinn walk him home anyway.
— desire is so different when god bore you hungry ‘series by captainkit – explicit / 20.6k words
“Let’s get out of here,” whispered Kinn. His eyes were so very kind. Porsche wanted to keel over with the hunger gnawing at his bones. The kindness in his eyes made him ache a little more.
“Okay,” he whispered back.
Starvation was an old friend of Porsche’s.
— force of attraction by nuwildcat – explicit / 14.3k words
Gravity (noun): the universal force of attraction acting between all matter.
Porsche never was the best student in school. She’ll be the first to admit that hands on lessons were always the ones that best made things ‘stick’ for her.
Porsche isn’t certain she wants to know whatever lesson Kinn Anakinn Theerapanyakul is trying to teach her. The problem is, resisting Kinn is like trying to stop a force of nature: impossible.
— if i go too far by p1n3appl3_p3n – explicit / 13.9k words
Kinn and Porsche are friends that fuck, and it’s totally fine until it isn’t.
— red-handed by martynax – explicit / 12.3k words
“Hello, gentlemen,” Porsche finally manages to find his voice and is proud of himself that he comes off as cool and collected. He doesn’t really feel like it, but as long as no one is pointing a gun at him, he can roll with whatever. He’s good at bullshitting his way out of tough situations. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
The corner of the stranger’s mouth ticks up in amusement, eyes taking in Porsche’s silhouette. It’s a slow once-over that makes Porsche’s skin tingle.
The stranger takes a slow sip of the whiskey, tipping the glass elegantly and smacks his lips after he swallows. “It’s not bad.”
“Want a refill?” Porsche proposes, waving his hand at the almost empty tumbler while he slowly starts approaching the couch. He feels awkward just standing there. The two guys in black suits tense up, but make no move to stop him. Not giving his unwelcome guest time to answer, he adds, “I’ll do you one better, I make a mean cocktail. How about I make you one?”
“Such a kind host,” the man muses, titling his head as he observes Porsche. “Do your best, little thief.”
— all of me (is all for you) by kurtstiel – explicit / 10k words
The water has saturated Porsche’s white shirt completely, soaking through the vest beneath. The translucent material clings obscenely to the swell of his pecs. His nipples are clearly visible through the sheer material, hard and pebbled, with the unmistakable shape of the metal barbells pierced either side of them.
Porsche’s head jerks up to check if he can still hide them from Kinn, but it’s already too late. Kinn is standing across the room, staring in Porsche’s direction, entire body coiled tight like a spring.
(Or: While Kinn is away on a business trip, Porsche gets his nipples pierced as a surprise for their anniversary. Kinn comes home earlier than Porsche expected.)
— whatever else that touches you by technicallyverycowboy – explicit / 9.4k words
“No, it’s fine.” Porsche shifts to be a little less plastered against Kinn’s side, straightens his shoulders and smooths out his jacket with great dignity. “The answer to your question is yes, I have really never been with any other men.”
(Or: Porsche answers questions, asks some of his own, tries new things, and fills in the knowledge gaps of his own sexuality.)
— i’ve been waiting for you, to slip back in bed by dearsidewalk – explicit / 5.5k words
Porsche is sound asleep on their bed, the cityscape casting a soft, warm glow against his skin, dipping and arching with his silhouette. Kinn sags, hands falling to his side, but that itch hasn’t faded—that heaviness in his chest, stomach, and throat multiplies, malignant and spreading, and in a blink of an eye, he’s at Porsche’s side.
— the sweetest thing on this side of hell by butterflylungs – explicit / 3.3k words
Being vulnerable with Kinn is always a dangerous game: she never knows when it’s going to be thrown in her face. After the forest, she thought—well. But Kinn had given her to Vegas, cold and stone-faced from her perch on the couch, still attached to an IV line after taking a fucking bullet for her.

UN says Israel will not renew visa for top aid official
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Israel has told the United Nations it will not renew a visa for the top U.N. humanitarian aid official for the Palestinian Gaza Strip and West Bank, a U.N. spokesperson said on Friday.
Canadian-born Lynn Hastings, a veteran U.N. official, has served as the deputy special coordinator for the Middle East peace process and U.N. humanitarian coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory for nearly three years.
"We've been informed by the Israeli authorities that they would not renew the visa of Ms Hastings past the due date at some point later this month," U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
He said U.N. staff do not overstay their visas in any country, but stressed that U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has full confidence in Hastings. Dujarric did not say whether Hastings would be replaced.
A spokesperson for Israel's Foreign Ministry accused the United Nations of being biased and described as "disgraceful" the U.N. response to an Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants that Israel says killed 1,200 people.
"That's why Israel decided to check on - one by one - the visas that are issued to representatives of the U.N.," the spokesperson said.
At the end of October, Israel's Foreign Ministry accused Hastings - in a social media post - of failing to be impartial and objective, which the United Nations rejected.
"You've seen some very public attacks on Twitter against her which were utterly unacceptable," Dujarric said. "Personal direct attacks on U.N. personnel anywhere around the world is unacceptable and puts people's lives at risks."
Guterres on Wednesday warned the U.N. Security Council that the Gaza Strip, ruled by Hamas, was in the midst of an "epic humanitarian catastrophe."
Since the Oct. 7 attack, Israel has focused its retaliation against Hamas in Gaza, bombarding it from the air, imposing a siege and launching a ground assault.
More than 15,000 people are confirmed killed, some 40% of them under the age of 18, according to Palestinian health authorities deemed reliable by the United Nations. Many others are feared buried under the ruins.

Is Bucky a villain in the comics now? It looks like he’s fighting with Steve and Sam.
So there are two parallel Cap runs, Sentinel of Liberty and Symbol of Truth, where both Steve and Sam are Cap at the same time. (You absolutely need to read the two Winter Soldier specials to understand Sentinel of Liberty.)
Bucky is pretending to be a super villain in order to end an evil global conspiracy that’s been controlling world events since the 1920s. They also killed his parents in order to force him into the military as a child and have been using him his entire life to kill people, both before, during, and after he was The Winter Soldier. So he’s like real mad. And he hasn’t slept in weeks so he’s extra unhinged.
The conspiracy, The Outer Circle, was created by a group of people who treat manipulating the world as a game. One player, the Revolution, was intended to stop the game, trying to foil the other players. If one of the players is killed, the killer becomes the new player. The Revolution orchestrated things so that Bucky would kill him and become the New Revolution, hopefully to end the game once and for all.
Steve didn’t want anyone to die and Bucky absolutely wants to kill them all. He shot through Steve to kill the Revolution, which is hilarious because every time Steve is like “Bucky shot me :(“ everyone responds by telling him “well good news is that he didn’t want you dead or you’d be dead so you’re obviously still friends.” And Bucky’s first act as a super villain was literally to get Steve laid by Sharon Carter, like mea culpa bro. Bucky is keeping Steve at arm’s length but is spying on Steve via Peggy Carter. They both had big tears about their fight - they’re like on the outs but not really on the outs.
We don’t know how Sam plays into this yet, but Sam is miffed at Bucky for not telling him Nomad was alive. We don’t know why tho. It’s unclear how Sam gets involved just yet but it’s likely because the White Wolf’s plot will intersect with the Outer Circle.
Essentially, T’Challa’s evil adopted brother, White Wolf, has been trying to ruin Sam’s life for reasons unknown. He’s gotten Sam into several international incidents because Sam infiltrated other nations to stop White Wolf’s terror plots, sometimes with severe consequences. Shuri was so incensed that Sam crossed into Wakanda against her instructions that the council revoked the visas of an entire wave of American immigrants. Meanwhile, White Wolf assassinated a world leader Sam couldn’t save and has injected Joaquín with something that’s making him attack Sam. Like he has a lot of his own problems at the moment and 99 of them are White Wolf, so not sure how it leads to fighting with Bucky yet. Sam’s currently trying to stop White Wolf’s dictatorship of Wakanda’s neighbor, Mohannda.
TL;DR: Bucky’s pretending to be a super villain so he can kill the real super villains, which Steve is upset about because killing is bad. Sam is going toe to toe with White Wolf atm so it’s unclear how he gets involved with Steve and Bucky’s drama.

Beckett x reader - things of the past
Tumblr media
Part four:
“We told you detective, we won’t allow you entry to our nation.” One of the guards said.
“He’s our main suspect in a murder investigation, and our main lead on a missing detective.”
The guards all shrugged.
“That’s not our issue, we have things of our own to worry about.”
They began to walk away.
“Wait! This means something!”
Beckett held up the bracelet and a guard walked over, carefully examining it.
“Where did you get this?”
“From our victim. And he meant something to our detective who is linked to your convict.”
The guard narrowed his eyes a little.
“We have videos as well, videos we can’t explain.”
“Show me.”
Gates nodded and Beckett showed the man the three videos that they had.
“Impossible…”
“What? What is it?” Gates asked.
“Detective Beckett may come with us, bring this all with you, the council will want to see what you have found.”
“And I can relay this all to my team?” Beckett asked.
“If we deem it necessary yes, but you must come now, we can get you clothes and whatever else you may need there.”
Beckett agreed, and she was amazed at how short the journey seemed to be.
It was only a day out, she was given a visa to take with her everywhere, and while the guards split up to take the prisoner, the others turned to her.
“Come with us.” The other said.
She was escorted through the city, and she looked around at people selling things in markets, kids playing with rocks, throwing them and kicking them.
There were children playing on the roofs of buildings.
“All questions will be answered at the city hall.”
“Right.”
Beckett carried on observing the place.
Walking up the stairs, Beckett was ushered into a conference room.
“Detective Beckett, a pleasure. I’m president Miko, the council heard your request and depending on what you have to offer we’ve agreed to help you.”
“First, did detective (L/N) come from this nation?”
“I’m sorry ma’am, but we don’t know anybody by that name. Do you have a photo maybe?” Miko asked.
Beckett nodded her head, pulling up a photo of you and he looked at it confused.
“We had somebody similar here many years ago yes, but… that’s impossible…”
“Why? How is it impossible?”
“Detective Beckett, that person died in an ambush 20 years ago.” Someone said.
They walked over, handing her a photo, it was old, but she could still make out the people in it.
“That’s our victim, and that’s (Y/N).” She said.
“You’re sure of this?”
Beckett nodded her head.
“Yes sir, I’m sure.”
“How did the victim die?”
Beckett began explaining every thing to him, along with the destroyed temple and what they had found there.
Beckett turned to Miko.
“Tell me about (Y/N), and these videos.”
Beckett showed the man, who carefully examined them.
“I see they’re taking this to the outside world now.” He whispered.
“Taking what?”
He sighed, gesturing to the table and she sat down.
“For years we have been on the brink of war with one another, an organisation is trying to drive the four nations into a war that will be devastating for everything that we have built. We’ve lived in harmony for hundreds of years.”
“Sir, what exactly is going on here, I need to know.”
He sighed, gesturing for Beckett to follow him so she did, and he led her to a map with the same symbols as yours.
“(Y/N) has this map as well.”
“It is a map of the nations, and their boarders. The boarders don’t mean much, but it’s more of where the heads of the nations live.”
Beckett nodded a little bit.
“Ma’am, those videos, have you examined them?”
“Yes, and I know they’re not fake, our techs scrubbed them.”
Miko nodded his head.
“Perhaps I’m not the one to explain it to you, maybe your friend can. But how well do you know your friend?”
“Apparently not much, we thought they were new to the city but they had been living there for around 20 years.”
Miko sighed, slowly nodded.
“Detective allow me to show you something.”
He led her back to the hallway, and he gestured to a statue in the middle of the large entrance way.
“Do you recognise that face?”
Beckett narrowed her eyes a little bit.
“That’s the person from the first video, the oldest one.”
“That is the face of the person who saved our nation many years ago. We tried to help, when we got there it was too late. Our main suspect and (Y/N) we’re both gone.”
Beckett turned to him.
“There are many things to your friend that you have yet to find out, but if they aren’t dead, and are in fact alive they’re in danger.”
“I know, it’s why I need to find them sir.”
“This is a danger you cannot protect them from, they will be hunted, they will always be hunted they always have been.”
“Why? What are they involved in.”
Miko shook his head slightly.
“I’m sorry. Yet, I may be able to help you find them, if they have returned here, there is one of two places they would go.”
“Where?”
“The southern temple in the air nomads nation, or, the spirit tree, by the boarder of the city and the water nation.”
“Air nomads? Water nation?” She asked.
“All things you will come to know in time, try the tree first. I’ll have somebody take you there.”
“Thank you sir.”
Beckett grabbed her things, and she looked at him.
“Is there somewhere safe for these?”
“Yes, of course.”
He held her to a bank, letting her drop them in a safe deposit box before she was taken to a car.
“How long will this take?”
“About half a day at most, but if they’re there then they’ll stay there.” The man said.
Beckett nodded her head, going through some photos that castle had sent her from the videos they were reviewing.
They were enhanced images of you, and under your shirt she could see the sliver of a scar peaking out, but there wasn’t much else to help.
They reached the edge of the city, and the man sighed.
“I’m sorry, I can’t go any further. If the avatar spot me they will run, especially if they’re hiding.”
Beckett furrowed her brows a little but said nothing.
She’d learned that apparently asking questions wasn’t going to get her very far here, not with these people.
Getting out of the car, she smiled at him.
“Will you wait here?”
“Yes, I will.”
Beckett nodded again and she began up the hill where she could already see the over towering tree.
As she got closer, she slowed her pace a little bit.
She could hear a quiet voice, gentle singing sounded through the quiet.
Making her way to the top, Beckett slowly stopped.
She recognised you immediately, leant against the tree, eyes closed, softly singing.
Beside you was a headstone, and she slowly knelt down.
You stopped singing, but you kept your eyes closed.
“You shouldn’t be here…” you whispered.
“You ran off, what was I supposed to do?” She asked.
You opened your eyes.
“You should have left it Beckett, like I told you to.”
You sighed, turning your head away from her.
“Leave.”
“No. Not until you tell me exactly what’s going on.”
“It’s nothing to do with you, just being here makes you a target as well.”
Beckett placed her hand in the ground, sitting down.
“Why? What happened in that park? What happened 20 years ago?” She asked.
“It’s in the past.”
“Right, and that’s why you’re here? Because it’s still in the past?” She asked.
You glanced at Beckett.
“This is my fight Beckett, not yours, you can’t help help with this. You have no power, your gun is useless. You’re just risking your own life for nothing.”
“Then tell me what I’m fighting for. Tell me who you really are, who is the avatar? Why does everybody think you died?”
You clenched your jaw a bit, placing your hand on the tombstone next to you, smoothing it along the top.
“I used to come up here before I left this country, after he died. He was barely an adult, he just celebrated his 18th birthday. He died just to protect me.”
Beckett looked at it, reading the name.
“You were related?” She asked.
You slowly nodded your head.
“My older brother, he raised me when our parents were taken away. We never saw them again, but he did the best he could. He worked, he taught me when he could, played games with me.”
You sighed.
“When I was taken in by the monks, I thought it was because I had nobody else to look after me, but that’s not why they took me in Beckett. I never asked for this, I didn’t want to be anything but a kid. But I wasn’t allowed.”
Beckett gave you a confused look.
“What does this have to do with anything?”
“Everything Beckett! It had everything to do with it! People look at me and they see a hero, somebody to keep the peace between the nations and protect them. Do you know what that feeling is like?”
“Of course I do, I feel that pressure every day back at the office.”
You have a small laugh.
“At least you can escape that feeling when you go home, I can’t. If I had just been better none of this would have happened…”
Beckett slowly pulled out her phone, handing it over to you so you could watch a video.
“They said that is you. How? Because whoever took a shot like that through the stomach, with the amount of blood they found 20 years ago, there’s no way someone would have survived that.”
You set her phone down in the grass and stood up, moving your cloak and lifting your shirt.
“You mean a wound like this?”
Beckett slowly stood up, her hand reaching to touch the nasty scar on the side of your stomach, and she turned you around slightly, seeing an exit wound on your back.
The same scar, and a blue line going up your spine.
You lowered your shirt and covered yourself with the cloak again.
“That’s how you knew, isn’t it? Because you have the exact same wound.” She said.
“I had my suspicions, I still do. But if I’m right Beckett you cannot get involved with this because they will kill you no problem, no hesitation.”
“Right and you won’t die?”
“Maybe I will, but I have a better chance at fighting than you do.”
You picked up your staff, handing back her phone to her.
“This is my past, I let this happen and I need to fix this.”
“You blame yourself, and that’s not fair. You couldn’t have stopped anything that happened.”
“But I could have Beckett!” You yelled.
Tears streamed down your face.
“I could have stopped all of this if I had just stayed that day I was hurt! But I chose to runaway like a coward!”
You turned your back to her, looking at the vast stretch of land ahead.
“I ran away because I didn’t want to be a hero, I didn’t want to be the avatar, the keeper of peace and balance. I wanted to just be normal. I wanted to just be like you… live a normal childhood.. a normal life..”
“You still can. You can’t chase the past, believe me I’ve tried, it won’t change anything that’s happened.”
You nodded a little.
“I know. I know that…”
Taking a deep breath, you wiped the tears from your eyes.
“But I can step up, and be the person I was supposed to be back then. It means that I am the avatar, and I have a job to do, I’m done running from it.”
“What the hell is the avatar!?”
“The keeper of peace and balance, through centuries the avatar has kept the balance of this world, keeping it safe. Even if we don’t want it, we have to do it. No matter the cost.”
You began to walk away.
“Hey! No! I’m not letting you walk away this time!”
You turned around, pointing your staff at her, and she felt herself het knocked over by a gust of wind.
“Beckett leave.”
Raising your hand, she found herself stuck in the ground, and she struggled.
“What the hell have you done?! What are you?!”
You said nothing, and you walked closer.
“Go home Beckett, please. I don’t want to see you caught up in all of this as well.”
With that, you slammed your foot into the ground, thrusting your hand forward, and she found herself flying backwards away from you.
She stopped by the car that took her there, and she was released.
“(Y/N)!”
Beckett was terrified, and she didn’t know whether to run towards you or away from you.
“Don’t, they’ll be gone by the time you get there.”
“What’s going on here? Who are you? What are you?”
Beckett drew he gun, pointed it at the man who raised his hand.
“Maybe we should talk…” he said quietly

Exploring Nursing Opportunities Abroad: Top Countries for Indian Nurses
Nursing is one of the most in-demand jobs inside and outside India. A profession that is in most demand in GCC countries for Indians is the nursing job. For Indian nurses, who are looking to broaden their horizons, many countries are waiting with promising career opportunities. If you are a skilled nurse and have multilingual capabilities then wide opportunities will be there. The overseas opportunities will give you high pay as well as a high-standard working environment. The respect for nurses outside India is much higher than inside India. Nurses are being recruited through top nursing consultancy in Kerala and here is a list of the top countries that offer promising careers.
Five top countries that offer promising nursing career
United Arab Emirates: Dubai which is an opulent city right due to cultural and development richness hires nurses from India. A large part of nurses who work in Dubai are Indian and they a decent pay but not much higher than European and American countries. But the most attractive feature of Dubai is that the nurses can take their entire income to their homeland since there are no taxes. In Dubai, there are many world-class hospitals, medical centers, and clinics that offer good employment prospects for Indian and other nationalities.
Saudi Arabia: In Saudi Arabia, there are a plethora of job opportunities for nurses in both the private and Government sectors. They offer good pay, accommodation facilities and also travel allowances. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest nations in GCC countries and also the pilgrimage place for Muslims, the demand for medical facilities is very high. The demand for trained professionals especially from India is of high demand in Saudi. However, finding the right opportunity is a bit challenging since there is a high scam in the field of recruitment.
Canada: Canada is a country that offers a healthcare system with the highest standard. This country is facing staff shortages and is now actively recruiting nurses worldwide. The high-quality life and the welcoming stances towards immigrants make Canada an excellent choice for nurses. The medical facilities and education are completely free for immigrants.
Australia: Australia's flourishing healthcare industry and stunning landscapes attract nurses worldwide. With modern facilities and advanced technology, nurses can work efficiently. During leisure time, they can explore the country's picturesque natural environment. Competitive salaries and excellent benefits make it a lucrative career option. To work as a nurse in Australia, one must register with the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and pass English language proficiency tests.
United States of America (USA): The USA boasts a robust healthcare system with a significant demand for skilled nurses across various specialties. Indian nurses aspiring to work in the USA can pursue opportunities through programs like the H-1B visa for skilled workers or the EB-3 visa for professionals with tertiary education. Opportunities exist in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health settings throughout the country.
United Kingdom (UK): With its National Health Service (NHS), the UK offers extensive opportunities for Indian nurses to work in both public and private healthcare sectors. The UK's Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) oversees the registration process for international nurses, which includes passing the Occupational English Test (OET) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and meeting other requirements. Work settings range from hospitals and nursing homes to community healthcare centers.
Conclusion
If you are planning for an overseas nursing job, first research the rules and regulations for immigrants. Based on it decide which country is most suitable for you. There will be medical tests, mandatory examinations, and other verifications for each country. It is better to connect with any nursing consultancy in Kerala before you plan to move, they will guide you through the process and also provide you with data regarding the recruitment.

trucy nm the wind in your hair
A year and change after Part of Your World (hence the Little Mermaid lyric title), Trucy, Nick, and Edgeworth visit New Zealand. Part "man NM have only been to Europe and Khura'in" and part self indulgent bringing the faves to my home city. Also I tweeted my city council to find out whether people visiting can get busking licenses or if it's just citizens/residents (the answer: anyone can!). It's all snippets at the moment.
Father's graduation present to her is a month anywhere she wants. She knows she wants to go to Khura'in and visit her brother, and Mom (still weird to call her that)'s interested in coming to spend time with both of them, but she wants to go elsewhere too. So, New Zealand it is. It's a pretty random pick at first, throwing a knife at a world map (now that she's eighteen Daddy's despairingly allowed her to throw knives again). But the more she thought about it, she realized she's never been to the Southern Hemisphere, and there are some people in the International Brotherhood of Magicians from or who have been to New Zealand who say it's nice, and she doesn't need a visa to visit, and it seems like a pretty interesting place. And then her dads look into it too, and it has a jury system, and the laws around the justice system have cultural elements to do with New Zealand's founding documents and relationship with their indigenous people, and they're such nerds but oh, she wants to share this part of the trip with them too. Two weeks in New Zealand with her adoptive dads, then two weeks in Khura'in with her biological brother and mom. She has the next four years at college to be independent; this is her time to spend with her family. She can't think of a better month away.

the tfa au with the decepticons being able to have sparklings and the autobots can't. can you share what you have come up with.
Sure! So, first of all, the governance: I'm imagining it being like, autobots and decepticons essentially living in different "countries". The decepticon occupied citystates essentially forming one, and the autobot occupied ones forming another. There's a peace treaty that says autobots may not encroach on decepticon territory uninvited and without proper paperwork, kinda like how irl you need an approved passport or visa to enter ither countries you do not have citizenship or residence in
Widely the general populations aren't supposed to mingle freely; the autobots still have mountains of prejudice against decepticons and war frames in general, and the decepticons are ofc still very sour toward their ex-oppressors. Most of the interactions are state sponsored and carefully monitored, and the autobot council is working around the clock to keep their nervous population from having a breakdown or staging an uprising. Turns out finding out you're on the brink of extinction and the only means of saving yourselves lies with the very people you've been pushing propaganda against for 4 million years doesn't exactly inspire confidence or peace of mind. Who could have predicted?
The first sparklings born on Cybertron are a worldwide news story. Some of the first are Starscream's, sired by Jazz, his triplet seekerlings and little grounder Blues. Next There's Lockdown and Prowl's little one, who comes out with their carrier's white and their sire's gold. Most of the autobot population has never even seen a sparkling before, and at first are very offput by them. These tiny bots are so useless! They're so clumsy and are always tripping over themselves, they can't even speak! They babble endless nonsense and cry at the slighest inconvenience! What's wrong with them?
But the more people start interacting with them they realize just how lovable and precious sparklings are--they're complete blank slates that are totally clueless about the world, with such capacity for learning and compassion and wonder. The world is a blank slate in a baby's optics, endless possibilities to explore, countless adventures to be had. They know nothing of war or prejudice or hate, only joy and love. And they quickly become a sensation: suddenly, everyone wants one.
Now, the decepticons are the only ones capable of creating them. So there's 2 options:
1. Cloning of reproductive arrays and then bestowing them on mecha via organ transplants
2. Using decepticon surrogates and carefully extracted spark-energy to fertilize and implant a baby created by a sire who physically can't sexually reproduce
Megatron immediately denies the proposal of the first option. If the autobots start breeding their newly-achieved peace will be put in jeopardy. The war frames ability to foster newsparks is their greatest bargaining chip. They can't afford to lose it. So, the first drafts of the surrogacy program starts
It's entirely decepticon controlled, first of all. They're the ones who will have to do all of the work, they get full control of their bodies, no exceptions. Surrogates can approve or deny any potential sires on a whim, it's completely at their own discretion. Parenting rights are to be decided on a case by case basis, depending on what the carrier wants and their appointed lawyer(s) help them write into their contract. And surrogacy isn't free: a surrogate is free to set their own fee however they wish.
And, most importantly, not just anyone can become a sire. These chucklefucks have never even seen a baby before; the cons don't want just anyone handling an innocent newspark. Every prospective sire gets put through intensive training classes, throwing every possible exhausting, messy, terrifying, maddening situation being a parent could possibly throw at them. Making sure they can actually handle the pressure and understand what it means to be responsible for the life of another that will be totally dependent on them for care. They have to teach them proper communication, about child development, the importance of routine and love and sparksharing, anything and everything under the sun. There's probably even part of the program that requires the sire and sparkling stay under watch for awhile after the birth, just to ensure they're actually able to take good care of the little one.
While the so called "sire education and preparation program" (aka "daddy school" as Bumblebee so aptly put it) definitely weeded out all of the ones who were just caught up in the craze, there's still a large number of civilians who want to pursue parenthood. There's a cap limit on how many can be born to the surrogacy program in a certain amount of time, and there's not infinite surrogates, so there's a waitlist a mile long for those who want to be parents. And I'm sure you guys will never guess who's one of the first to sign up (Optimus. It's Optimus. Change my mind)

Joe Biden wants the US government to make wider use of artificial intelligence—and to keep commercial AI on a tighter leash. Those are two prominent themes of a sprawling executive order Biden will sign today, which issues dozens of directives for federal agencies to complete within the next year, on topics ranging from national security and immigration to housing and healthcare.
The order places reporting requirements on companies developing powerful AI technology, such as that behind OpenAI's ChatGPT. Biden will use the Defense Production Act, a law that can compel businesses to take actions in the interest of national security, to require the makers of large AI models to report key information to the government, including when they are training a new model and what cybersecurity protections they have.
That will include disclosing results of so-called red teaming exercises, intended to reveal vulnerabilities in AI models, such as those that can be used to evade controls that prevent malicious use cases such as generating malware. The goal is to monitor the potential threats AI technology can pose to national security, public health, and the economy.
Another part of the order requires companies that acquire, develop, or possess large-scale computing clusters, essential to training the most powerful AI systems, to report their activity to the federal government. This rule is intended to help the government understand which entities, including those from nations competing with the US, have strong AI capabilities.
The executive order also directs the Department of Energy to evaluate how AI outputs can contribute to biological or chemical attacks, or cyberattacks on critical infrastructure. The UK government included the possibility of advanced AI enabling biological and chemical attacks in a report last week on potential threats posed by the technology.
White House deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed, who is chair of a newly formed White House AI Council to ensure compliance with the order, calls it “the strongest set of actions any government in the world has ever taken on AI safety, security, and trust.”
Help Wanted
The measures in Biden's executive order aimed at powering up US government AI include the creation of a dedicated job portal hosted at AI.gov to draw more experts and researchers familiar with the technology into government. Another initiative asks for a new training program to produce 500 AI researchers by 2025.
Divyansh Kaushik, an associate director at policy research group the Federation of American Scientists, who helped draft portions of the executive order, says those could be among the most influential pieces. “People often forget that talent is the biggest bottleneck in the federal government,” he says.
Kaushik also welcomes the way Biden’s order demands changes to immigration policy to make it easier for AI talent to come to the US. A plan to allow immigrant workers to renew their visas inside the US, for example, could remove the need for hundreds of thousands of STEM students to travel to their home countries for in-person interviews.
Although the US has a majority of the world’s top AI talent today, only 20 percent of them received undergraduate degrees in the US, Kaushik says, indicating that many are immigrants. He says it’s in the US interest to make it easier for AI experts to come from overseas, to compete against other destinations such as China, Canada, or the UK.
Biden’s new executive order acknowledges that AI projects can be harmful to citizens if not carefully implemented, singling out the potential for discrimination and other unintended effects in housing and healthcare. The order calls for the White House’s Office of Management and Budget to develop guides and tools to help government employees who purchase AI services from private companies make good choices.
Suresh Venkatasubramanian, director of the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination, and Redesign at Brown University, says those rules could be impactful. Within the federal government, procurement is “number one on everyone's agenda because everyone understands that is the way to effect change,” he says. He previously helped the White House assemble an AI Bill of Rights for federal agencies issued by Biden last year.
However, Venkatasubramanian says some of the most critical government use cases for AI in the US will largely go unaffected by the new executive order. Biden’s directives apply to federal agencies, but much AI used in criminal justice and policing is deployed by state and local law enforcement. False positives from AI-powered technology like ShotSpotter gunshot detection and face recognition have led to false arrests, and police departments currently use predictive policing software that doesn’t work as advertised.
To force state agencies to also adopt the standards in the executive order, Venkatasubramanian says federal lawmakers could make compliance a condition of funding for state and local law enforcement agencies.
This is the first executive order of the Biden presidency solely focused on artificial intelligence, and it follows two by former president Trump, in 2019 and 2020. So far, government agencies have a spotty record of complying with them.
The 2019 order focused on investments in AI research and development. A December 2020 executive order and the Advancing American AI Act passed last year require federal agencies to annually disclose an inventory of algorithms in use. But a Stanford Law School study found a pattern of inconsistent compliance, warning of a national AI “capacity gap.” If Biden’s new order, the most ambitious presidential directive on the technology to date, works as intended, it will significantly expand that capacity.

Share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
Thank you for tagging me @melli-chou!
1. Windows of the soul, you should have knocked the door
Anakin stared at the costume on his bed. He was still unsure about the whole ‘Halloween party at the office’ thing Aayla had dragged him into but he was new at his office and he didn’t want to be put into the party-killer box so soon into his work.
“I got a VISA all on my own.” He told himself. “How hard can this be?”
2. Kiss me softly, love me roughly
It all started with a pair of cuffs. As Obi-Wan returned from his meeting, he found them laying on the ground, abandoned. He stared at them from his spot at the entrance of the room. Were those Anakin’s? It was unlike his padawan to leave things out of place, much less actual Jedi tools.
3. A hundred and one universes - chapter 8
The war had only been over for a couple of months and the peace and recovery efforts were still going strong.
The Republic’s political sphere had been completely turned into chaos as the reality of Chancellor Palpatine’s true identity and his actual role in the war was revealed. For the first week after his death, the Jedi order had withdrawn into their temple. For too long they had been forced to fight and die into a now pointless conflict and their first step before going out and helping fix the galaxy was to begin healing themselves.
4. But goddamn, you got me in love again
The music was loud all around him, Anakin could almost feel the drums beating in his own skin. The low, colourful lights jumped from greens and blues to reds that were almost pink and yellows. People on the dance floor laughed, drank and danced, adding to the chaotic picture painted by the lights.
5. Viridian afternoon
“Is this really  necessary?” Anakin asked, the sound of the bells tied to his curls jinggling as he turned to stare at the Radichet that was tying some see through fabric around his waist.
He had been sent by the Jedi council to take part in the ritual that took place every ten years on the planet Achicor. The Radichet, an alien species very similar to humanoids (Anakin had yet to figure out where they were different), dressed up and celebrated for a week, burning particular dishes and incense in the name of their main god: Obi-Wan.
6. Michi, michi, miau
As soon as Obi-Wan had taken a seat on the bus on his way home, it had begun to rain. Hard. He sighed, already dreading the short walk from the bus stop to his house, nevermind that he had his umbrella with him.
It had been a stressful day at work and he looked forward to finally putting on his slippers and drinking some warm tea. The beginning of spring, as it usually happened, had arrived with a chill and rain. Obi-Wan had taken to bringing his umbrella everywhere he went, at least when he saw the cloudy sky in the morning.
7.  More than one lifetime
 [Hyperspace. Coruscant to Lothal, 23BBY]
"Master," Anakin broke the kiss with a whine. He was sitting on his master's lap, his upper robes on the floor of the cockpit and his padawan braid tangled in his master's right hand. "Please…" He begged, before Obi-Wan tugged his braid and kissed him again.
8. The right path is not often the clearest one
The night Rin’s ghost appeared in his dreams, whatever plan Zetsu and Madara wanted Obito to follow became useless.
At first, he thought she was only a nightmare, the hole in her chest and a bit of blood falling from her lips a haunting sight. Obito broke down crying and hugged her, blaming Kakashi, babbling at her how he would avenge her and create the perfect world for her. But then Rin shook her head and smiled sadly. He couldn’t stand watching her sad so he turned away and then he woke up.
9. Morning star, guide me home
“Mom, look!” Lady Alhue turned around to find her son excitedly holding several items floating around his head. She smiled and put down the knife she was using to fully turn and crouch down so Anakin could get closer. “I’ve managed to lift three more things this time!”      He was so bright, Darth Alhue couldn’t help but mourn the fact that he would soon have to be turned into the dark. It was the only option to keep him safe. She knew there were other Sith roaming around the galaxy, thirsty for power.
10. Simple comforts
The door opened and Obi-Wan stepped into the living room. Immediately he saw a lump of heavy blankets, Anakin’s seven year old sister buried in them, her cheeks flushed and lightly panting.
In front of her, the TV was playing an old movie, one of Anakin’s childhood favourites, as he had mentioned once or twice during the first dates they had. Obi-Wan smiled at the picture and moved further in.

144-hour transit visa-free policy became a showcase
China's 'business card'
With the continuous improvement of the 144-hour transit visa-free policy, foreign friends can now come to China more easily, and it is no longer difficult for foreign friends to "fly" to Guangdong for morning tea. Now, the 144-hour transit visa-free policy has achieved remarkable results and expanded its scope of application, bringing unprecedented attention to China's inbound tourism and becoming a beautiful "business card" to show the charm of China.
With the approval of The State Council, Guangdong has officially implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy since May 1, 2019, covering people with valid international travel documents from 53 countries. The move significantly improves the convenience level of foreigners' entry and exit in Guangdong Province, and is conducive to the realization of a multi-stop tourism model in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In the future, it is expected that through tourism, it will gradually open up to foreign independent travelers to apply for 144-hour transit visa exemption on their own, bringing convenient and rich travel experience to overseas tourists. Gradually increase the list of 144-hour transit visa-free countries, such as the "Belt and Road" countries included in the list of visa-free countries. We will further strengthen the role of the state in the development of cultural tourism, so that Chinese culture can be introduced to the world, so that more people can truly understand China, feel the beauty of China, and hear more moving Chinese stories. Let Chinese culture become the trend of the world.

Best MBBS Abroad Consultancy: A Guide for Indian Students
Pursuing an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) degree is a dream for many Indian students. However, limited seats, high competition, and the increasing cost of education in India often push students to explore opportunities abroad. Studying MBBS overseas is not only an opportunity to gain global exposure but also a chance to receive quality education at a relatively affordable cost. Finding the best MBBS abroad consultancy is essential in ensuring that the journey from application to admission is smooth and hassle-free.
In this article, we will explore how an overseas consultancy can help students, the key benefits of studying MBBS abroad, and the best destinations for Indian students. We will also discuss some factors to consider when selecting the right consultancy for MBBS in abroad for Indian students.
Why Do Indian Students Choose to Study MBBS Abroad?
Studying MBBS in India is highly competitive due to the limited availability of seats in government medical colleges. Many students, despite scoring well, do not get admission to the top institutions. Private medical colleges in India, on the other hand, have exorbitant fees, making it unaffordable for many families. In contrast, studying MBBS abroad offers several advantages, such as:
Affordable Tuition Fees: Many countries offer MBBS programs at significantly lower costs compared to private colleges in India. This makes it an attractive option for students from middle-class families.
World-Class Infrastructure: Universities abroad are equipped with modern infrastructure, advanced labs, and cutting-edge research facilities that contribute to a high-quality learning experience.
Globally Recognized Degree: An MBBS degree from reputable foreign universities is globally recognized and accepted by medical councils, allowing students to practice medicine in multiple countries.
Fewer Admission Hurdles: Most MBBS programs abroad have simpler admission processes without the intense competition seen in Indian medical entrance exams.
International Exposure: Studying abroad allows students to experience diverse cultures, practices, and healthcare systems, preparing them to become global healthcare professionals.
The Role of an MBBS Abroad Consultancy
Choosing to study MBBS abroad involves several steps that can be overwhelming for students and their families. This is where the role of the best MBBS abroad consultancy becomes crucial. Here’s how they can help:
1. Guidance in University Selection
Selecting the right university is crucial to a successful MBBS journey. Consultancies are well-versed in the rankings, reputation, and quality of medical universities abroad. They help students choose a university that fits their budget, preferences, and career goals.
2. Assistance with Application and Admission
A consultancy simplifies the complex admission process. From preparing documents to filling out applications and meeting deadlines, they provide step-by-step guidance to ensure that the process is smooth and stress-free.
3. Visa and Travel Support
Obtaining a student visa can be a daunting task for many. The consultancy will assist in preparing and submitting the necessary documents for visa approval. In addition, they offer help with flight bookings, airport pickup, and accommodation arrangements.
4. Financial Planning and Scholarships
The best MBBS abroad consultancy offers counseling on financing options, including educational loans and scholarships. They help students and families plan their finances to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs involved in studying abroad.
5. Post-Admission Support
The journey does not end with getting admitted to a foreign university. Post-admission support such as guidance on settling in, adapting to the new culture, and dealing with any academic or administrative issues is essential.
